Grace Kelly's last miles

Monday morning 13 September 1982, princess Grace of Monaco and her daughter Stephanie.. .. set of from the Grimaldi weekend resort in Roc Agel in her green Rover 3500, heading for Monaco. Stephanie is about to go back to school in Paris after a long summer holiday. She will move into her apartment on the Avenue Foch for another year. Therefore, the rear seat is loaded with her clothes, which leaves no space for their chauffeur. The first part of the drive passes the D153, a small, winding road, passing the Monte Carlo Golf Club. It's a beautiful late summer morning, no indications whatsoever for the world shocking disaster that is about to happen. Stephanie is having an affair with Paul, the son of french actor Jean-Paul Belmondo. At only 17 years, she wants to marry her lover. No hard to imagine how Grace feels about that idea. Are mother and daughter having an argument about this matter? After the village of La Turbie, some serious hairpins force drivers to slow down. A truck driver following the Rover later testimonies he never saw the brake lights once. Instead, the car is speeding up while approaching the dangerous curves. Shortly after, the Rover misses the hairpin called Devil's Curse. It crashes through the wall and plunges into a deep slope. Stephanie sustains multiple injuries, but manages to leave the wreck. Grace is unconsciously transported to a hospital, where she dies the next day. Rumours have it that not Grace, but Stephanie was driving the car, although she did not hold a licence. But a policeman, who saw them crossing La Turbie only minutes before the fatal crash.. .. later said Grace was at the wheel. Between that point and the crash site, there is no place where they could have changed places. What really happened on that sad September morning 1982, will always remain a mystery. All we know is that the world lost a beautiful woman that will never be forgotten.
