Good thing the brakes work… First Drive!

foreign [Music] the secondary carburetors were just pouring fuel into the car we knew that yeah this couldn't pull those carburetors back off and go through them because I should have known better [Music] these are the only things that have got me sort of concerned I don't know how Mission critical this is that it's perfect if I was to be super concerned about how flat this was I'd use something like a mirror or a machine surface which I don't have but for the poor man like me mirrors are manufactured to a very high degree of flatness there's a standard for mirrors that means that you can rely on a mirror being significantly flatter than most surfaces maybe around your garage oh I think that's fine watch me eat my words later on [Music] [Music] again in the flat spot yeah foreign stay right there it's a little wonky the steering wheels I'm straight right now and it's all the way this way the shifter's still messed up gotta bump the timing a little bit but man oh it's so cool so we were having all kinds of pops and backfires and everything through the carburetor and through the dish without the exhaust and everything [Music] there was all kinds of sputtering and backfiring off idle not on idle off idle in my head I was trying to go through all the things that it could be aside from something like a burnt valve or vent valve or something like that yeah we had compression so I didn't think valve I kept messing with the timing a little bit thinking that that was it and it seemed to get better and then it would just periodically just get worse and I started thinking like what the heck is happening here and then I remembered when I pulled off the distributor maybe the point's adjustment is just way off before we call it a day because we're kind of just bummed out that the car is just not running right and we're thinking the worst we pop the distributor cap off and the first thing that we saw was this does anything look weird here there's a little nub on both sides like this one right here that's supposed to capture this brass piece keep it from moving well it's obviously broken and it was like this throwing the timing way off I was getting the proper reading at six degrees five six degrees before top dead center as soon as this thing spun up the speed spinning clockwise so the the force of this would pull this backwards and it was just throwing this thing way off there you go it runs it does the things and it does them way better than I could have ever expected given everything about this carp to this point obviously the Hood's back on it and it looks like a complete car again which you know it's kind of like the finishing touch on at least getting this thing to the point where it can get on the road you need a hood what's next for the Corvette well I'm gonna fine-tune the carburetor I'm gonna fine-tune the timing get it all dialed in write it as it should be I also think that there is something going on with the gas pedal I don't think it's getting Full Throttle it this feels off and I don't know how to explain it other than just tell you that it feels off I appreciate you hanging out with me and I'll see you in the next video see ya thank you [Music] foreign
