particularly interesting or you have thoughts about the game in general then please leave those as comments down below because I'd love to see that kind of feedback all right let's jump into the game out here we have the game fully set up and ready to play for our three different players now before I start I would like to ask that you please turn on the cling on subtitles because I might make mistakes as I'm showing you the game and those will let me put Corrections on the screen where you should be able to see them and I will also put Corrections below this video in the top comment well let's start things off with a brief overview of the game in it each player is a prospector and as we play through the game we are going to be staking claims in order to get various resources and then of course we are going to mine various Metals as well as harvest Stone and wood in order to build more camps and settlements now right here at the start I do want to point out that today I'm filming with the second edition of the game that comes with the Whitewater expansion and for this tutorial I am going to be showing the Whitewater expansion that brings in the Water Resource as well as a couple specific investment cards now on every player's turn they're going to do three things the first is activating their supply track and this is essentially a linear mola mechanism where you pick one slot and then you drop one thing off into everything above it until the rest pile up at the top then you going to use the metals that are up here in order to claim scoring spots in boom town which is over here or you could claim Investments over here if you have the matching metal and the last thing for metal is you can ship it away which will move your wagon down the line potentially getting you a bunch of victory points after potentially using metal we then build or Loot and with this we use Stone and or wood that's up here in order to place encampments settlements or neither if we loot when we place onto the board we take a face up tile that's showing for example we could take this one here and then we take all of these indicated resources in this case two silver and a gold and we put them into one of these buckets and we score points based off of the bucket we placed it into and we get extra points if we place it into the bucket with water which again comes in with the white waterer expansion this token is then placed on our board and this is important because at the end of the game players will get points if they have the most or second most of that specific type of terrain on their board now again that's what happens when you put an encampment down but if you instead choose to loot you will take a tile and get the resources on it but then discard that tile and the encampment token will be placed over here where it will lose you one point and potentially more points if you have the most or second most encampment in the Looting spot this means every turn will'll Place one encampment somewhere on the board and the game ends once everyone has placed all of their encampments in a two or three player game that it's going to be 12 encampments in the four-player game it's only 10 once the game is over we'll do final scoring where we can get conditional victory points from Boomtown if we have specifically put an investment token onto that spot we will also get points for the majorities of these types of tiles that we've taken also as I said you might lose points at the end of the game if you've looted the most or second most times in the game and very importantly everyone will get two points for their largest contiguous cluster of their settlements and camps out on the board because of this it's very good to place your tokens down so that they are adjacent to each other but those places aren't always going to be where you actually want to go with regards to the resources that you will get and the landscape tile that you will take once we score up everything the player with the most points will be the winner now I will describe how all of these things work in detail while we are playing and today we are going to play as the blue player over here on that note let's now begin the game and we are the starting player I want to point out that these are the resources that we began with in these specific spots and again with the Whitewater expansion everyone got a water that they placed on the three Victory Point spot at the bottom of their track now on a player's turn they will go through these three steps the first and last ones being mandatory and the middle one only happening if we actually have metal to use so we begin by activating our supply track the way this works is we choose one of the four slots within our supply track and we take all of the resources there and we put one into every single spot above it until we potentially reach the top now you can only select a slot with at least one resource in it so we cannot select this here and I think we will select this one to start now that means we move up and we have to place one of these into the zero slot I think we'll place this copper there and that leaves this stone that goes over here in the usage area all right we finished Activa ating the supply track so now the use Metals step would be active if we had any Metals in our usage area in this case we have a single Stone and that is not metal so we're just going to skip right over the Ed metal step and move on to build or loot now in this step we are going to be placing one of these Camp tokens down we will either build it onto the map or loot it putting this off to the side and losing points I think let's build now when we build a camp we have to spend a wood or a stone from our usable area we have this Stone so we'll spend it and then we can look out here to the main board where you can see a water tile in the middle and then there are eight tiles this shape that were randomly placed in all of the other slots we randomly put smaller tiles that match the specific terrain colors and lastly during setup we flipped face up all of the tiles that were touching this water area now when we build or loot we select one face up tile and I think I like this tile here now if we were looting we would just take this tile get the resources and discard it and I'll explain how that that works later on but we are building so we're going to take this tile replace it with our camp token and then gain all of the resources depicted on that tile in this case that is a gold a stone and a wood now these resources are placed into one of the four slots within our supply track if we place it onto any but the top we will gain points specifically if we went here that' get us one point this would be two points but if we went here that would be three points and every time you place into a slot that has water tokens in it you gain one point for every water token that is there so if there happened to be two water tokens here and we placed all of these onto the third slot we'd get three four five victory points but of course we don't have this here so if we did go here we'd get three plus one or four points that is tempting but I don't think we're going to do that we are instead going to place here in the one Victory Point slot so we immediately gain one point we are the blue player so we can track that up here and then we take the tile that we've removed from the board board and because we built we place this onto our board specifically in the row that matches the color now whenever you build a camp you put this down into the leftmost spot if you build a settlement you actually leave a gap and I'll explain how we build settlements soon I'm pretty sure we're going to try to do that on our next turn so for now we place this over here and this is important because at the end of the game the players with tokens furthest to the right and each of these rows will get points specifically the player who got furthest to the right for the green tiles will get eight points in the second place we'll get four for the gold tiles it's 9 and five for the silver it's 10 and six and finally for the copper it's 11 and 7 so there is the most points to be had by being furthest to the right in Copper however in general copper is the least valuable metal when it comes to actually doing things in the used metal step we'll explain how that works later on though so for the moment we have the lead in the gold row because we have one and our opponents have zero which means that would be nine points but of course this game is just started so that lead doesn't really mean anything the last thing we do while building is we find all face down tiles that are now adjacent to the mining tile that was taken and we flip those over so that means this tile is now selectable in the next build or loot phase with our turn done Play Moves clockwise to the yellow player they begin by activating a supply spot and they're going to go with the top one so they simply move this up to the top and that means whenever you activate the top everything there will immediately become usable in this case that is just a wood now they could do the use metal step but they don't have any metal so they'll skip past that and build or loot they've decided they are going to build and remember when you build you can spend a wood or a stone so they'll spend this wood to build this Camp when they look out to the board they've decided to build their Camp here and they're taking this silver tile now the reason I call it a silver tile is because well it has the silver color but I also want to point out that every silver tile has at least one silver resource on it you can see that out here also with the copper there's at least one copper on them and with the gold tiles there's at least one gold finally with the green tiles there's always at least a wood or a stone sometimes there is a combination and of course on all of these tiles there are a variety of other resources that can show up the tile that they chose gets them a copper and two silver they can put that silver tile here and they've decided to add all of these resources into the one Victory Point spot once again when you add these resources they must all go into the same location so they gain one point which brings them to one and then they finish their turn by revealing all three of these tiles because they are all adjacent to the space where that mining tile was taken all right yellow is done which means it's time for the red player to go they're going to begin by activating the top slot just like the yellow player did that will move up then they will skip the use metal step which I promise I'll talk about soon and then they build or loot they're going to spend this wood to build their camp and they've decided to build over here that is is going to get them a wood and two Stone and they of course put that green tile up here and then with these they're going to go all the way to the bottom they put these here that will get them three points and again because they are using the white water expansion there is a water over here and every water in a spot that receives resources is worth a point so that's 3 plus one or four points for the red player just for putting their resources down here so red jumps up to four points after that three more tiles need to be revealed and it's now time for us to take our second turn we of course start by activating one slot on our supply track and we'll activate this slot again we pick up three resources and we have to drop one of them off up here I think we'll drop off this gold which means there is a wood and a stone now in our usage area next up there is a metal step which we will continue to skip and then the build or loot step and we are going to do this now whenever we build we can build a camp or a settlement you can only build one of each of these and as you can see we have a wood and a stone now the camps cost a wood or a stone and if you have resources up here unused at the end of your turn they are lost you don't suffer any additional penalty beyond the waste of not getting use out of those resources that you picked up now again we can only build one camp or one settlement so if we built a camp we'd use one of these and then waste the other however if we want to build a settlement which is a camp token on top of one of these influence tokens that will cost a wood and a stone not two wood or two Stone exactly one wood and a stone which is what I was planning for so these are spent and now we build this settlement out much like we build a camp so we look out to the board and find a face up tile that we want to build at and I think we'll go with this one here now as you can see this is adjacent to our previously placed camp and that is not necessary we could have chosen anything over here as long as as a face up tile however at the end of the game players will get two points for every building in their largest contiguous group of buildings so you are definitely incentivized to try and have a big cluster of buildings once the game is over but that doesn't stop us from going to other spots that are better in the moment and then trying to connect all of them up before the game is over now of course we built this as a settlement which is again a camp token on top of an influence token and this will generate us resources just like if it was a camp however when we go to place our mining token on to the matching row we skip one spot because of that settlement what that means is the settlement essentially as two of the matching mining tile instead of one in the future when we play more mining tiles they'll go over here so currently we are at the two slot on the copper row and remember the copper row pays out the most points at the end of the game to the players who are furest to the right now we can place these down and next turn we've got a pretty good set of options here to use so I think maybe we will look to the Future much like the red player did and we'll place all these down here that's going to get us three points plus one for this water so that's four points this will bring us to five and then we finish our turn by flipping up these tiles all right it's time for yellow to go they begin by activating their supply track and they only have these two options if they chose the bottom one they would just move this water up and not put anything up here that feels pretty bad they're definitely angling to activate this spot here that means they Place one token in this location and the rest go up to the top now they've decided they're going to put the stone there and then all four of this metal which is three silver and a copper will go into their usage area now they could have left one of these metal pieces here and put the stone up top but they consciously decided not to do that now it's time for them to do the first use medals step of the game they obviously have metal with four different pieces here so that gives them a few things they can do during the used metal step you spend those metals to potentially gain Investments invest in Boomtown as well as ship those Metals the yellow player has decided they are going to invest with all four of these metal res resources now you can only invest once per turn and the way this works is they can take any one of these available investment cards as long as the resources at the top match the metal that they can spend they have three silver and one copper and that matches up with this investment here with a three silver and one copper icon that's the one they want to go with and as you can see it is going to immediately get them seven victory points and it also has an extra benefit that I will show soon for now they get seven points and every time you take an investment if there are still investment bonus tokens you take the highest one as you can see in a three-player game there is a 1 two three and a four the five bonus token is only placed in a four player game so they take the highest number and that's worth Four Points so they're actually gaining 11 points for doing this right now of course the resources that they spent on this go back to the supply 11 points brings them up to 12 now there is an additional effect to this investment that says they can upgrade a camp to a settlement the yellow player only has one Camp right now so that's the one they choose and they simply place an influence token underneath it upgrading it to a settlement and of course since it's on a silver spot that means a gap must be put into this mining row so they'll slide this over to show that settlement that's everything for this investment and they can just keep this off to the side because sometimes you can get extra points for these from Boomtown and I'll explain how that works soon enough now at this point if they still had more metal they could go to Boom toown or ship that metal but of course they don't have anymore so I'll explain how those work when we get to them this means they move to the final step which is build or Loot and you'll notice they have no wood or stone in their usage area that means they do not have the resources required to build which means they are forced to loot now the way this works is they still take a camp token from their board and they place it into the wanted area where they immediately lose one point so they go down to 11 they felt like losing this point still made it worth it for them to get that investment so early in the game now they might end up losing more points for their camp in The Wanted area during final scoring because at that point we count up the number of camps on the wanted poster and the player who has the most camps will lose an additional Point per Camp the player with the second most camps over here will lose one point for every two camps they have on the wanted poster rounding down so they might be on the hook for another negative point from this camp but that's only if the rest of us manage to loot less than they do before the end of the game after placing a camp on the wanted poster when you loot you still take any one of these face up tiles and they've decided to take this one they are going to gain the resources that are Ed on it and of course they don't put a token down here and that does mean that no one can place a token on this spot for the rest of the game this has two gold and a copper on it and then the mining tile is discarded they do not add that onto their board because again they did not build onto that mining spot they do have to place these into their supply track and they're going to put them all at the top that's not going to get them any additional points I think it's pretty obvious what they're going to be doing on their next turn either way for now they have to finish their loot action by revealing these spots you'll notice there is no player piece here but you still reveal all of the adjacent tiles that are next to a spot that was looted okay yellow is done which means red gets to go and they are going to activate this spot they are going to drop off a gold and then a stone at the top obviously they then skip the used metal step and then they build they'll spend one stone to build a camp now they are a little bit bummed that the yellow player looted that tile that was one they were definitely hoping to pick up it seems yellow partially did that because it was good resources for them but also because it denied a decent tile from the red player although there's still some really good stuff around here remember red can build elsewhere but you do get those two points for every building in your largest contiguous group so it's good to keep that in mind when you are making these decisions they've decided they'll build here that will get them two copper and a silver and they're going to put all of that down here once again so that is going to be 3 plus one or four more points for them so they go from four four up to 8 and then they finish their turn by flipping over this mining tile well they are done which means we can go and I think we're doing something kind of similar to them I think we're going to place resources down here to get some points and then have a big turn on the following turn for now I think activating this top slot is still pretty good for us as you can see we have a wood which means we can build later on we also have a gold and a copper and that means it's time to do our first used metal step of the game now we've already seen somebody invest in and while there's a lot of points over here we can't capitalize on that right now because we only have these two metal and as you can see the least amount of metal you need to invest is four so we'll do something else now another option available to us is shipment we can ship as many metal as we want during a used metal step and for each metal we use for shipping we simply move our wagon once to the right so if we shipped this gold we would move our wagon here one space to the right and if we shipped this copper we would do the same with the copper wagon now as you can see there are various steps along the way that will give you benefits the moment you move the wagon over this two-point Bridge you gain two victory points the moment you move your wagon over one of these tiles you get the tile and as you can see there is a big tile and a smaller tile underneath it so essentially the first player to cross over this gets the bigger amount of points the second player to cross gets the smaller amount of points and if the third player crosses they get three points as you can see printed there and that decreases for each of the types this is one of the reasons I said said that copper is generally the least valuable metal and gold is the most valuable that has a lot to do with the shipping track as well as how the investment cards are balanced beyond that there is another bridge and as you can see if you are not playing with the Whitewater expansion Crossing that would get you three points and then down here there's one more jump over giving the same subset of points as this spot here so there's quite a bit of points you can get as you cross these tracks but of course we are playing with the Whitewater expansion which means we cover this three up with that token and that means instead of getting three points when you cross over this bridge you gain a water which you place into one spot on your supply track when you place that water down you do not get bonus points for that slot on the track but of course whenever you build or Loot and place resources onto a spot with water resources you get one point for each water there so this could turn out to be worth more or less than three points depending on how you place and use that water in your supply track now again that is what we could do but I think we aren't going to do that once again we could do one and not the other potentially but instead we are going to go to Boom toown now this can only be done once per turn and the way this works is you spend exactly to metal and then you look at this grid to figure out what part of Boom toown you are influencing we have a gold and a copper so that means we can invest in this over here which is a frontier office or we could do this which means we could invest in a sheriff's office the way this works is we place an influence down to unlock what are mostly final scoring conditions the only one that happens immediately is this one if you spend two gold then that will get you one water in much the same way that I explained earlier on when we were discussing the shipping track I do want to point out that if you're not playing with the Whitewater expansion you just have the four point Side Up in which case you get four points when you invest on that spot now I do want to point out that this boom toown area was built somewhat randomly at the beginning of the game this could easily have been somewhere else the strict positioning of these tiles was random but you're always going to put four of them down also there are a lot of Boomtown tiles as you can see so this is just four out of a much greater variety and this is going to add replayability to the game because it will have you focusing on different things each time you play now again for us we can invest in a sheriff's office or this Frontier office and let's take a look at what they do the frontier office will get us one point for every building on the edge of the map at the end of the game currently we don't have any of those but we could certainly lean in that direction and instead the sheriff's office would get us one point for building adjacent to an opponent at the end of the game game well we are also not adjacent to any opponents just yet so I think let's invest in the frontier office that means we place this influence there and that spot is blocked for everyone else for the rest of the game there is another space though so that means somebody could spend a gold and a silver to influence there in fact we could do this if we did later on then that means we would actually get two points for every building we have on the edge of the map now before we move on let's take a look at the other two Boomtown tiles that are in this play this is the shipping office and gives you two points for every shipping bonus token that you have at the end of the game I just talked about these when I discussed shipping that is these tokens that you get for being the first or second player to cross over those spots so if you have taken these already then this could be a very lucrative way to get more points for them or of course you could go here and then that will definitely signal your intention to really push up on that shipping track the other option in this game is the saloon that gives two points for every investment fulfilled now we know the yellow player has already done this once they have that card tucked under their board so they are pretty motivated already to try and invest in this Saloon in order to do that they have to spend two silver or a silver and a gold either way I'm getting ahead of myself for now we have completed investing in this Frontier office so in the future when we build we have an extra incentive to build along the perimeter of the board well we've used all of our metal so now we can do the build or loot step we have a wood so we can spend that and build a camp and once again this Frontier office means we really want to put this on the edge of the map if we put it here here or here that would be the edge of the map and it would be extending our contiguous group I think that's probably a good idea so those are the three that we should focus on and while I would love to go here or there to get three metal I think we actually need some more building resources in our supply track so we are going to build here of course that is worth plus one point to us at the end of the game because of our Frontier office once again that's going to get us a wood and a stone we can place that here and yeah we're definitely going to put this on the bottom that gets us three points plus one or four points and we are also telegraphing that we're definitely going to be activating this slot on our next turn four points will bring us from five up to 9 then we don't have to flip over any more tiles because all of these adjacent to where we removed the mining tile have already been flipped so our turn is done that means the yellow player can go and they're going to activate the top this means they have two gold a copper as well as one stone so they're going to use Metals with this two gold and a copper and as I said before if they had a gold and a silver I think it's very likely they'd go to the Boom Town but with gold gold their option is to place a water which isn't bad but maybe not the best use of their gold gold in this moment or they could do the gold copper in order to invest in the Sheriff's Office of course they can't do this gold copper because we already blocked that spot it appears they are going to go for the Sheriff's Office though they're going to use the gold and the copper so they'll place an influence here that is going to get them one point at the end of the game for each of their buildings adjacent to a opponents these are spent and they have one gold remaining so they will ship it this means they move their gold wagon one space forward this is discarded and they are one shipped gold away from two points now they can build and they have a stone to spend so that means they can build a camp and they've decided to build it here that is not adjacent to their previous token but it looks like they have lots of ways to make this contiguous before the end of the game and they've placed adjacent to an opponent so that is an extra point from this Sheriff's Office that tile gives them a copper a wood and a stone and they're going to place all of that into the bottom spot this will go here and they will get three plus one from the water or four points for placing that brings them up to 15 and then they finish their turn by revealing this tile all right it's time for red to go they've been building up to this moment for a while they are going to activate the Bottom now as you can see they have seven resources over here and of course as they move up they'll be be dropping off one in each of these so three of these resources won't make it to the top but four will and they now have to plan out exactly what resources they want now the first thing is easy they can drop off this water here and the reason they're doing that is because now when they Place into this spot they'll get that extra point and as soon as water reaches the top in the usage area it is simply returned to the supply so the slower you can move your water up these tracks the better now they have to place something else out and as you can see they have three building material now there is no way to spend three Building Material when building you can of course spend two so it does not make sense to have all three reach the top with that in mind they're going to put a stone there then up at this point they have to decide do they want to put a building material down so they can build a camp or do they put a metal down so that they'll have wood and stone to build a settlement during this turn I think they're going to place this silver here yeah it looks like they're going to go for the settlement now they can do their first metal step of the game and they have two copper to spend this is not enough for them to invest but it is enough for them to put influence on this spot in boom toown if they did that they get two points at the end of the game for every shipping bonus tile they have the thing is at this point red has not shipped anything so they're not sure how many points that's going to be worth to them yeah instead I think they're just going to spend their two copper to move two spaces up the copper shipping line they cross this bridge so that's going to get them two points that will put them up to 10 the copper is spent and then they'll spend a wood and a stone to build their first settlement of the game now they would like to place this adjacent to their previous tokens and they only have one building material currently on their board yeah they've decided they're going to take this that gets them three stone which is a lot of resources available to them for future build actions also because this is a settlement they will place this down with a gap that means they are up to the three column compared to the one column of us and the zero column of the yellow player so that puts them distinctly in the lead for this specific color majority now they have to place these onto their supply track part of them wants to go down here again and save up for a really big turn in the future but of course if they did that on their next turn they would have no way of getting Building Material into their usage area that's not the end of the world they could just loot but of course when you loot you are not constructing buildings that could be worth two points du at the end of the game and of course when you loot you lose points because of this they're going to go here they're also somewhat incentivized because of this water token this means on their next turn if they want they could activate this spot moving up and that will get them enough building material to build another Camp yep that's going to get them two points plus one for the water so three points which is going to bring them to 13 total next up we see they don't have to reveal anything which means their turn is done and now we get to go we have no choice we must activate the bottom and I think we will definitely drop a water off there from this point on two of these five will not make it to the top during this turn so we also have that question of do we want to build a settlement this turn or would we rather leave a Building Material off to use in the future and just build a camp I think let's go for build efficiency and not build that settlement that means we are going to drop off a stone here and then one of these will go here now if we left this copper then we'd have a copper and a gold left over for the metal step now both copper and gold positions in Boomtown have been occupied so we couldn't do that and that means we would simply be shipping both of these instead if we left that gold for the future we'd have two copper which we could use in boom toown or we could also just ship but it would move us further up that shipping track I think this is what we want to do so that means we have these materials in our usage area and for the used metal step we have two copper to spend much like the blue player on our last turn we have a decision do we go for this boom toown spot which is shipping office now we have gone up zero spaces on the shipping tracks so far much like the red player on their turn so if we did this that would be somewhat aspirational but it would also not be a bad thing it would give us a bit of a direction to push for in the future I think let's go for it that seems fun let's Place Another influence in Boomtown that is going to get us two points at the end of the game for every shipping bonus token we have we spent both of these and of course we don't have any of those shipping bonus tokens yet but we are now heavily incentivized to get them which means we should probably focus on shipping in the near future at this point we've used all of our metal so we can't ship right now though so we move on to our build or loot step we have a wood so we'll spend that to build a camp so let's look out here and the first thing that jumps out to me is the fact that right now if we built adjacent to our contiguous group we're not going to be getting any building material this turn having building material is good for future builds again it's not the end of the world to have to loot but it's definitely something to try and avoid if possible now we can see there are a couple of green tiles over here so we could potentially work our way over maybe taking this and then that next turn but I'm kind of worried that we might run out of building materials before we get there part of me is tempted to jump here and take this obviously the yellow player is probably hoping to take this that is three wood which is a lot of building material and if we did that there is no hope for us to connect this to our contiguous group however this is on the edge of the map so it is still worth a victory point to us and I think that's what we're going to do yeah yellow is not happy to see this we'll take this mining tile which gets us three wood and we'll place that here so we are still in second place when it comes to the green mining tokens because red is at the three column right now now we have to place these down and I think we're in a similar boat to where red was I think we'll place them here that givs us a nice bonus because of the water and it sets us up to be able to activate this next turn scattering these building materials around giving us many more easy opportunities to build that'll get us 2 plus 1 or three points which brings us to 12 and then we don't have any tiles to reveal so our turn is done and before we move on to the yellow players turn I think this is a good time to talk about how the game ends and how we perform final scoring now the game is going to end once every player has placed all of their Camp tokens as I'm sure you've noticed every turn you will remove a camp token from your board and it will either be built or it will be placed onto the wanted poster so this is essentially a game timer in a two or three player game there are 12 of these out so everyone will take 12 turns in a four player game you don't fill these slots in so everyone will take 10 turns in that case once everyone has taken 10 or 12 turns depending on the player count it will then be time for final scoring now the first thing everyone does is they get two points for every building in their largest contiguous group if the game was to end right now we would get two for six points red would also get two for six points and yellow would get two because they currently have two independent groups of one this can be worth a bunch of points if you're able to make a big contiguous group but sometimes other factors come in that make not having that big group still a good strategic Choice after scoring these we then score The Wanted area now the way this works is we count all of our camp tokens on that wanted sign and the player with the most will lose one point per Camp token they have over here and the player with the second most will lose one point per two Camp tokens over here rounded down now if there happens to be a tie for first then all of the tied players lose one point per tent token and there is no second most penalty if in instead there is not a tie for first but there is a tie for second then all of those tied for second players lose one point for every two of their tokens rounded down after that we score Boomtown where every player will gain conditional points based off of where they've put influence tokens down for example if the game ended right now we would get two extra points for every shipping bonus token we've taken and one extra point for every building we placed on the edge of the map yellow is currently getting points for being adjacent to opponents and of course this is likely to be much more filled in by the time the game is over finally we score the terrain bonuses now the way this works is we check each color starting at the top each player looks to see the highest column number that has one of their tiles underneath it and the player who is at the highest number will gain the larger amount of points for that terrain bonus if there is a tie between players then that is first broken by the tide player who has more settlements on that specific type of terrain than the other Tide players and if there is still a tie then you sum the first and second place numbers together and divide that amongst those tied players and then you ignore the second place scoring and then the players who are second furthest on the track will not get any bonus the same goes if there is a tie for second place you just divide that by the number of tied players and round down after adding all of that to our score the player with the most points will be the winner and if there is a tie then the tied player with the fewest Camp pieces in The Wanted area is going to be the winner and if players are still tied then the tied player with the most resources remaining on the supply track will be the winner and if somehow there is still a tie then a rematch is in order so that's how scoring works and I think I've actually covered just about all of the rules to the game but let's play a little bit more so coming back to the game yellow now gets to go and for their activation step they only have one choice it looks like their track is pretty dried up right now now they are going to start by putting their water here then the copper will go here the stone will go there and that will leave just a wood out at the top in the usable area this means they're skipping the use Metals step and then they will spend that wood in order to build a camp now again they get an extra point if they are adjacent to at least one opponent and it looks like they are going to go here to maximize that this only gives them two resources which isn't as much as three but it also gives them another building resource and they think this is fine overall unfortunately the green terrain majority is probably not the one they most want to compete with but they're still going to go with this this will give them a silver and a wood and they're going to place those here which will get them one point this means they're at 16 and they don't have any tiles to flip over so they're done with their turn now red can go and they're going to activate this spot now they are tempted to drop a water off here but if they do that they'll drop a stone there and then waste a stone up here at the top another alternative for them is they could drop off a stone here a stone there and then get to the top with the water and the stone so they would not waste Stone but what they would waste is the potential points they could get from this water it looks like maybe it was a mistake for them to place these here on their last turn maybe they should have just placed them down there and moved forward with a loot action now they could of course not activate this and then Place more things over here but they're still going to have a similar problem with these two Stone I think they're going to hold off yeah they instead are going to activate the top spot that's going to push these up and that is a silver and a gold for their used metal step they can use these to influence the frontier office those are spent and of course that will get them one point at the end of the game for every building of theirs on the edge of the map they already have two of those so that is a pretty great Boom Town spot for them the problem of course is they have no building materials so for the first time in the game they have to loot this means they lose one point and then they'll loot this token which yellow is not happy to see that will get them two silver as well as a gold they'll put all of that here this will get them three points and it looks like it's very likely they're going to be activating this on their next turn this mining tile is discarded and no new tiles are revealed so it's time for us to go now it looks like we are in a similar position to where red was we really should have put these down here I have regrets about that but we'll just have to deal with it now I think we don't want to loot I I think we're going to forgo some more activations of this water and we will activate this here I don't think I want to waste a wood over a couple of points with water so yeah we're going to drop off a wood here which is nice for building a settlement in the future we'll drop off a wood there and here at the top the water goes back to the supply we skip the used metal step and let's build a camp our new focus is shipping and I like the idea of this tile here getting us two gold and a silver that is a lot of very valuable metal we'll put this here and we are definitely in the lead on the gold track and we're still in the lead on the copper track which is nice I think let's now put these here and maybe we'll go for another settlement next turn that does give us a point as well which brings us up to 13 we do have to reveal this tile here it's pretty good one and now yellow can go they've decided just to activate this top spot they skip the metal step and they spend one stone to build a camp and it looks like they're going to build here that's pretty important for for them if they didn't do that and one of the rest of us looted that or just built over there then they would never have a way of connecting these together and that is worth Four Points to them at this point so that did seem like something they did not want to pass up this gets them two gold and they are going to put that here so they'll gain two plus one or three points which brings them up to 19 nothing is revealed so yellow is done which means red can go and they could once again loot if they chose this but they've decided it's time to do this big turn here they are okay with wasting a stone they're going to leave the water there they'll leave a stone there and then up here at the top as you can see they will be wasting a stone but they decided they wanted to get a couple more points out of that water now they have to do a use metal step they have two silver and one gold that is so close to being enough for an investment they were really hoping to make that work but they did not quite plan ahead well enough for it instead they're just going to put all of these towards shipping the two Sil silver will cross that bridge for them getting them two points and the gold will not quite but it does get them moving on that track so red goes up to 14 then they build a camp by spending one stone and they're going to go here which will get them three copper they're going to place all of that into the one Victory Point slot which brings them to 15 and it also ties them on the copper track with us remember the copper track is worth the most bonus points during final scoring the yellow player is just one behind the rest of us as well next up red does have to reveal both of these tiles here and then red ends their turn by discarding this unused resource bummer all right this means we now get to go and H I am tempted to activate here or we could activate there and try to dump some more stuff in here to have an even bigger activation on our next turn yeah I think we'll do that that means we're going to spend this gold in the Ed metal step to just move forward once and then we can spend the wood to build I think let's go up here we're just going to continue to go adjacent to the border and also in our contiguous group this is also a pretty great tile for us that gets us a gold and two silver also it's our first silver on this row right now the red player has none on this row and the yellow player has two so we are behind them but realistically not that far behind now let's add these here that's a bunch of stuff and that gets us one point as well so we're still behind but we're catching up at 14 next up we do have to reveal this that is good I was kind of hoping to see a building material on there but this is still a bunch of metal so I'm not complaining okay we're done so yellow can go and they're going to activate here they're going to leave a copper behind and have one silver for the used metal step they will ship that which means they cross the bridge and they'll gain two points which brings them up to 21 next up they can build a camp with that wood and they've decided they're going to get in our way they're going to jump way over here that is next to an opponent for them so that's one point of course they're probably not going to connect these although it's possible they could at some point and they are making it harder for us to work over here to these spots that have building resources on them right now there's just two building resources on the entire map they thought about going here but they figured taking this was probably the better call right now this means they are tied up with the rest of us on this copper track which is the most lucrative and then with all of these they're going to go down here getting themselves three points it looks like they are going to be looting on their next turn once again the three points is from the two plus the one from the water that brings them from 21 up to 24 and then two new tiles are flipped over that's a good one that's finished yellow's turn so now red can go and they're still going to be building up this turn they're just going to move that stone up to the top they skip using metals they will then spend the stone to build a camp and they're going to go here that continues their contiguous group and it gets them on the edge which is worth another point for them this will get them three silver which they place here getting them one point and that is going to be a big turn for them next turn one point brings them to 16 then this time is revealed oh they like the look of that and now we are up obviously we're activating here now there's not a whole bunch of building materials out there I feel like we should leave this wood here and not build a settlement this turn settlements are nice for vying on these tracks but I also like the idea of continuing not to loot so what that means is we have all of this in our usage that is three gold and three silver now remember we get two extra points for every one of these tokens we take by the end of the game so if we wanted to we could spend the three gold going 1 two 3 we get two points for this and we take that ninepoint tile that's worth two more points because of our Boom Town influence so essentially 11 12 13 points for spending these three gold right now if we wait it's possible one of our opponents could cross that before us although looking at their boards well the yellow player has three they could potentially do it if they did then we would get three less points overall maybe that's not the end of the world of course getting to here means we'd be one gold shipment away from getting another water if we spent the three silver currently we haven't moved up on Silver so we get two points and we'd be right there super close to getting one of those bonuses now all that being said there is another good option available to us and that is these Investments we saw one early and then everyone's been kind of focusing on other things but we could complete this investment here that's only worth three points on the card but this is the second investment of the game so that would be an extra three points so that would be six points for it and of course that would be for four of these not all six then we would get another water and remember we lost our water we got rid of it so this would be another way to get points and it would get us a wood or a stone which is something we certainly wouldn't mind having to continue building now six points and these things feels like it might be a little bit less than the 13 or so points we could get for cashing all of this in but of course if we did that we could still ship both of these or we could diversify and send these to Boomtown that would let us go here getting us two points for every investment fulfilled if we did that we'd be getting two points for every investment two points for every shipping bonus and one point for everything on the edge that is a lot of points for things and it might not be the best idea to diversify like this obviously spending resources on investments means we are not shipping them so these do conflict with each other a bit yeah that's probably not the right call I have to admit I'm very tempted by this investment but let's just focus on shipping I think locking in this first nine pointer on the gold track is probably worth it especially considering we already get those points for getting these tokens so let's cash in these three gold that will move us one two three so we get two points for that nine points for this so that is 11 points total and of course this will be worth two more points to US during final scoring 11 points brings us to 25 of course we are not done we have these three silver we could spend two of these in boom toown that would get us a bonus for fulfilling Investments but I think again let's just lean into shipment we'll spend all three of these going one two three so close but we did cross over that for two more points which is going to extend our lead well that was quite the used metal step now it's time to build or Loot and we do have a stone so let's spend that and build this Camp considering we are one silver step from taking that token and one gold step from getting a water I think let's go here that'll get us a gold and a silver it also continues our contiguous group and gets us another building on the edge of the map we'll place this here and we are dominating the gold track we have three white has one and the red player has zero so maybe we're overly focusing over here but it is still nine points to the person who's furthest along this track so that is a good thing now we get to place these down and I think we're going to do this and plan to do that next turn to catch out the shipping again and we will have essentially reset on our board at that point and we'll deal with that when we get there we can finish our turn by flipping these over that is a very nice thing to see and now it's time for yellow to go it appears they are still going to stockpile they're going to activate up here that means they have a single copper to spend in their used metal step this will advance them once on the copper shipping track not getting them anything right now and then they have no building resources so they have to loot for the second time in the game so this goes onto the wanted area and they lose one point and they like this that would have been way too good for us we absolutely would have gone there next turn but they're going to take it from us unfortunately that gets them three stone and then this is discarded they're going to put all three stone here that means they are going to have a similar conundrum to what the rest of us had on their next turn about wasting a stone or wasting their water we'll just have to see what they do they of course could put these here but they're definitely planning on activating this and they don't really want to loot again also they love the idea of denying some building resources that we were very happy to see and are now gone well yellow can finish their turn by flipping that over that's a good tile two different building resources and a silver that's nice well it's Red's turn and it's time for another big turn they are going to drop the water off here and then for the Ed metal step they have three copper and three silver they've decided to spend four of those those to complete an investment remember you could only do this once per turn now with two silver and two copper they could complete either of these this one right here would get them three points and they'd gain a water and they could move up once on any shipping track of their choice alternatively there's this one that gets them Five Points and they could add two resources of their choice to their supply track this would not trigger any victory points and they are not allowed to place water with this they're going to go for this one that comes with the white waterer expansion and again that will get them three points plus this three so six points so they go to 22 then they can move up one of the shipping tracks of their choice and they're going to choose the silver track finally they gain a water and they can put this onto any slot on their board when they do this they don't gain any victory points and obviously you can get a lot of points for these by continuing to place things into their spots I think they're just going to put this at the very bottom and try to build up into some big turns again they can place this over here and in case they end up getting points for it at boom toown and they're not done with their metal step they do still have a silver and a copper remaining this means they could go here in boom toown that would give them one point for every building adjacent to an opponent and they have two of those right now they could also instead do this getting themselves two points for every shipping bonus they have they don't have any shipping bonuses yet though and in fact they've decided to ship both of these because the silver is going to give them this eight pointer so they were able to raise ahead and take that before we were able to The Copper will move them here just barely not getting them the seven point bonus and of course this gives them eight points they were at 22 so they are in the lead at 30 they are done with a big metal step and now they can use this Stone to build a camp considering they get a point for every building next to the edge and considering they currently have nothing except water this is a pretty great grab for them getting them three stone this will go here they're in the fourth column we are in the second column and yellow is in the first so they're definitely in the lead over here at the moment now they've decided to put these three down here getting themselves 3 plus 1 or four points and as you can see that sets them up well for the next turn where they could do this this and this and then build again with multiple Stones scattered around for future builds I'm getting ahead of myself though this will get them Four Points which puts them even further in the lead at 34 and then they can finish their turn by flipping these tiles over so red is done which means we can go and we had a good turn planned it's not quite as good now but we're still going to go for it obviously we have to activate this top slot because it's the only one that has resources now we can perform our used metal step we could use this silver and gold to go to Boom toown but instead we should definitely ship these because that was realistically our plan this gold when shipped is going to move us across that bridge which means we gain a water we can place this anywhere on our supply track I think we're probably going to put resources in here later this turn so we'll put the water there then we will spend this silver to move forward we did not get the eighto shipping bonus town but we still get the five point which is good enough to activate the Boom Town we have influence in so that is five points for us right now and obviously that's two more points to us at the end of the game because of our boom toown influence Five Points brings us up here and I also just realized that yellow forgot to gain three points for placing their resources in the two slot with one water so yellow should actually be here on the track now we can use this wood to build a camp and I think we're going to go all the way over here that is not quite contiguous just yet and it's possible our opponents might get in a way but this is on the edge which is good it's very possible to connect with the rest of our group by the end of the game and I really like these resources that is silver wood and gold and we'll put the silver here we are in the two column red is in the one column and yellow is in the two column so we're tied for first with that terrain majority now we'll place these here like I planned then next turn we can activate this and put the water here then two other things here and then probably a building resource up at the top to once again seed our entire Supply track for the next few turns for now though we get three plus one or four points which means we are in the lead finally we can flip this tile over oo that's also a good one and now yellow can go now this is a turn they've been saving up for for several turns they obviously activate this right here they're going to leave a water on the that spot up here they will leave a stone and then they have all of these resources in their usage area obviously they are going to be wasting a stone but they're still fine with this they of course do their use metal step now and they have three gold as well as two copper with these they have decided to invest specifically in this card right here that is going to cost them two gold and two copper which they can afford they could not afford any of these other ones but there is some good stuff out here they were one silver away from doing this one that that lets you gain one on the mining track on your board so you essentially move the rightmost mining tile that you have one space to the right to help you V for that terrain bonus also it's worth 11 points this is a whopping 15 points but you do have to give up five gold to get there by the way there are a bunch of other Investments that can be used this is just a subset that was dealt out during setup so yellow has spent two copper and two gold and then this investment will get them six points plus two so that is eight points which means they jump up here and tie us at 34 in addition to this there is the bonus that says they add one influence to Boom Town now they can only put influence down onto a spot that is empty and they are definitely going to go here into the saloon that gets them two points for every investment that they have fulfilled and this is their second investment of the game so that is currently giving them four points and they're somewhat motivated to try and put an influence here before the end of the game as well they have two and blue does have one so blue might try to sneak in over there before yellow came again that bonus is quite nice because of course it essentially saved them a silver and a gold that they need to place there so they can place this over here and they still have a gold they need to spend and of course they are going to ship that so they move forward once on the gold shipping track they cross that bridge which means they gain two points so they go into the lead with 38 that's all of their metal so now they could build or loot they do have building material so they will spend a stone to build this camp and they're going to go here it looks like they are trying to work towards connecting all of these into one contiguous group before the end of the game yellow's opponents could certainly get in the way by taking some of these we'll just have to see this gets them a wood and a copper they are going to place those there which will get them 1 plus one or two points which extends their lead further up to 40 then their unused stone is returned to the supply and finally this tile is flipped over this means it would now be time for the red player to go but instead I think I'm now going to to stop playing through the game we've seen some big turns and now we're going to be probably building up with some smaller turns getting to bigger turns later on we've played through a little bit more than half of the game overall and we've seen quite a bit of stuff happen uh boom toown is definitely starting to fill in three of these eight Investments have been taken and there is quite a bit of movement over here on the shipping tracks as we play the yellow player is trying to bring together these two separate clusters and we're going to be trying to do that as well obviously as we continue to take turns we take over more and more of this map trying to get the right resources for the right moment as we plan for our next turn as well as potentially three or four turns in the future when it comes to the competition with these terrain bonuses red is currently in a decent lead with green we are in a decent lead with gold and finally there is a full tie with the copper with two two and two we are currently breaking that tie though we have one settlement on copper compared to the zero of both of our opponents so these are all things that we are keeping in mind as we would play through the end of the game trying to get as many points as we can from these majority terrain bonus scorings I suppose another thing to point out is that we have not looted yet at least two players are going to lose points during final scoring if they are over there and if we manage to never loot then that won't be us and that could be the difference between winning and losing once the dust settles well at this point the tutorial is coming to a close and I do hope you've enjoyed learning how to play Gold West Second Edition
