[Music] man good morning guys it's what eight o'clock in the morning i'm trying desperately to warm my fingers up a little bit um yeah so anyway let's just get uh into it i think what i'll do is um i'll play each section with a metronome so you can clearly hear the note values as these are super important in this piece and then and then i'll just go go through each section and this will be my rendition of you know of this piece i learned it by ear and you know i think it's more or less accurate i sort of cross-referenced a little bit with one of tim's videos and yeah it seems more or less accurate so let's do it [Music] [Applause] [Music] do [Music] all right so let's have a look at the intro or the main riff whatever you want to call it um i'm i'm not going to go through every single note as that would just take forever to to do this i think but um i think if you're you know attempting to play this piece you're you know very decent player so i think you should be able to see and hear what it is that i'm doing so basically we have i think the first thing um is to make sure you time this gliss [Music] up to the third beat so you have one two three [Music] um you can think of it a little bit like um like like chewing gum or something [Music] two three [Music] um and the the following bit uh where are we these harmonics try to let them ring if possible because it it creates a really nice really nice harmony even you have which is i think really nice anyway sorry so you have can you hear it yes you can then um for the next bit um i had to find some solutions for uh not being able to tap it of course so what i'm doing is i have the octaves here first finger and third finger because we need the pinky for the top note so it's open d and then i slide gliss everything up [Music] and a pull off sorry and then the seven fret harmonics so it's sorry where are we ah sorry [Music] then we're down to the g uh i don't even know what to call it an ornament [Music] so and this is equally as important as the gliss to to really make sure you do it on the second beat i think it's easy to rush rush it [Music] and the same thing there if you can let the g harmonic ring you create a really nice harmony here [Music] really nice [Music] those triplets are very important as well [Music] because you land on on the off page just before the bait [Music] and then the f sharp is also syncopated so it's n one and two then we have the run so i started on the d on the b string [Music] legato is all the way down [Music] it's a little nasty then into the next bit [Music] [Applause] [Music] do [Applause] [Music] all right um so let's see uh for this part um we start with a barrier on 12 which is you know a little bit not too comfortable but i don't know whether you can see you can see my thumb is all the way down here in order for me to sort of get my hand out enough to to be able to to to do it now we have three notes and another b [Music] so well triplets i think i in the video i do which is suicidal i feel now i know why i did that that that is to emulate the tapping that is a tap note i think but it's that's just suicidal fingering so let's not do it it's much easier to control this version [Music] so there's a like a pull off there open the harmonic slide down sorry so let's do that again [Music] and then so i will say something about that um [Music] what we're in the classical world would call preparation so you don't have to uh what's the words so you don't do unnecessary jumps already there you start preparing stretching for the harmonics so you don't do [Music] it's very difficult to control and then this thing repeats itself four times sorry uh next one is it's a little bit of a stretch if you can't hold the whole cord it's really nice and then the harmonics and again third one is [Music] yeah up to the f f sharp then back the last bit i do is [Music] so it's basically no i'm lying [Applause] [Music] all right let's keep going one two [Music] do [Music] [Music] go [Music] etc all right so for this section um there's your one two three four one two et cetera and the next bit obviously i've changed it uh changed this uh quite a lot um if you want to do it more like the original just play the d minor [Music] um anyway let's do that first bit so we have um what i do here is what's called which is uh like a flamenco technique i start with a pinky down then ring finger down long finger down index down and back and then third finger down and index down [Music] if you haven't practiced this uh you'll probably experience a little bit of uh separation and anxiety in the beginning but you'll get it you'll get it and same here slightly shorter it's just [Music] sharp here i think probably the other guitar is playing i'm guessing yeah look our harmonics where are we harmonics [Music] is that right [Music] can i do this again again if you want to do it more like the original i think they do something like [Music] um i think that's about it the trickiest bit is probably getting though [Music] other than that i don't think it's anything really nasty [Music] everything is more or less repeated i do a little ghost trap there i think [Music] um the second time the harmonics are on the off beat yeah one two one [Music] identical to the first one [Music] then we're back into the the main roof yeah let's keep going alright so then we have our day solo i'm not even gonna attempt it on guitar but what i do is just to play the harmonics over it [Music] i think that's what tim does so slowly it's just [Music] yeah that's it [Music] [Music] [Music] all right so we've got um [Music] then i do a couple of i don't know ghost strokes i suppose but i mute the strings and then [Music] and that's a little bit of a stretch um i just like the the fat sound of the g string there but yeah i mean you could [Music] you could play it on the b string as well it really doesn't matter [Music] yeah so it's um you need to pay close attention to the again i always send this piece to the note value 7. sorry the following bit let's see slide up to the d harmonic 12 stripe and then [Music] seventh fret harmonics [Music] and what i'm doing there is another flamenco technique [Music] it's avamiko if you want to practice it it's basically like a thumb up middle finger down thumb down and what you're after is uh like this sort of movement uh not so much up and down [Music] that's not gonna work you want to and it's not it's not about force it's just again try and get a really short clean attack anyway um where are we that's right [Music] i think that's what i do they do a different rhythm maybe i don't know i'll play around with it now we're back again then to the e minor [Music] sorry it's uh it's a nasty [Music] then [Music] yeah i think that's about it for that section [Music] all right god these things are really difficult to play play at 60 bpms very slow um but yeah good practice so uh for this section i just started sort of the without the [Music] slide up and then the little [Music] so i always talk earlier about the preparation same thing here [Music] so you're sort of reaching after the 12th spread already there e minor slide up to the 12th another place [Music] same chord as in the [Music] i've beginning those open these because it's it'll just [Music] i don't know it's just too boring without on a nylon guitar then it's like a half bar on the 12th with a pinky [Music] to get myself down [Music] all right nearly there let's do the last [Music] bit so [Music] all right nearly there so the last bit is um let's see we've got i uh accents quite a lot i don't think it's like that in the original but i i don't know i just like it so we have another accent there so [Music] then i do a couple of ghost strokes again ah let's see [Music] so that whole section is [Music] again or what i'm doing that's right so gotta try to get the g sounding [Music] little run [Music] and then harmonics [Music] so i basically i do a hammer on there for musical reasons it just sounds better another little run [Music] again [Music] then i do another [Music] or i can't remember what i do and then the final run which i also had to find a solution for because of the tapping of course so it starts [Music] again so it's like a pull-off there [Music] i do a hammer on that yeah [Music] sorry i can pull off there [Music] all right that's it i hope uh i hope that this can help some of you and uh you know if there's if anything is unclear just you know just contact me and we'll i'm sure we can get it sorted good luck you
