GMC Motorhomes, Ahead of Their Time?

so here we are at the GMC motor home facility in Okeechobee Florida and just got done talking to Jeff the owner and we're gonna talk to him in a few minutes but we're gonna take a rock walk around this place and check it out and check out some of these beauties just tell me that they only made things now GMC made these themselves and I think it was the only car manufacturer to put out a motor home and their front wheel drive I think they're on a Toronado chassis we'll learn more about that they're way ahead of their time they were only put out for six years 73 to 78 I believe it was and we're gonna go in solve them and check some of them out and learn a little bit more about them and learn more about what they do here [Music] sitting here and I'll bet they have to cannibalize parts often these only made them for six years and they do have some for sale and they're on their website we can try to get that information for you it's kind of like the boneyard over here so they have a little campground where they let people that they're working on their own rooms I don't think so that's aftermarket this one I have a plate on it look at the glass look at that windshield the Kingsley that's an aggressive tire on the back different models well different models I guess could probably vary quite a bit I only said we could go inside so here's the inside of one step up really wide a cap usually the seats are close together these guys got to come in here and check this out look at this talk about retro very cool this whole area must make into a bed you like bigger than a king-size bed this little bathroom shower big back window Wow big closet with a window in it hey guys you go check this rig out look at look at the room in that cab oh yeah even in Deacon Scott much room is between the two front seats look at this whole thing back here Dan would make him do a bet it looks like this whole area was going to one big bet yep looks like somebody put like laminate flooring in the floor and up the walls and on the doors and stuff so that table goes smaller and that it's cupholders and then it folds right in there that's pretty good pretty good design at GMC I wonder how much the GMC engineers actually designed on this so originally I'll bet these probably came with an 8-track tape player I don't know they all have that as I've never done a lot of they still do I think so let's see so this is a stovetop yeah the only other microwave in here no they must have had some what do you think Andy could you see yourself with one of these yeah I like that your heads almost too tall for it almost look at you'd be like looking up there at the visor oh maybe the seat overhang pull up too close to a red light Dan there's your tandem wheels like you got on your rig tag axles so Danny has on his was that a Dodge Dakota chassis Cyril Scottie pioneer was a 1995 696 that's what daniel has big yeah yeah look what they put on the window is that real stabilized folks no giraffes or hardly old fart I might have to get that for my license plate two-piece front bumper on them oh all the chrome bumpers that one I was like a fiberglass bumper yeah we got some different paint configurations here - don't they from paint schemes some of these have been sitting for a while whoa look at the interior in this one that's a little different this looks newer Wow fancy Green different set up so they didn't have cooktops and they said microwaves it's interesting this is this one looks like it has the original in there look at that bow speedboat you should see the interior in that one next to this one you guys look in this one whoa ho green plaid now this one does have an oven and stove so that may be look at this control panel hmm I love this one here this was the most retro looking so far that green look at those seats we haven't seen an original stereo and one yeah I don't think pretty cool yeah I must be don't break it leave that part of the seat those seats are plastic it'd be cool under one of these I got to show you the bathroom in this one hopefully you can see it the light isn't really good the sink shower Oh molded plastic the lights on the side very cool just think these things must have been kind of like futuristic at the time yeah this one looks like it's a newer paint job on it pretty fancy thing they might be working on this one oh yeah this one's all under construction Wow look at that somebody's redoing this one there they at least started to that's a big project right there doesn't get much more retro looking than that folks so it seems pretty common with these to have like a custom paint job everybody kind of makes them their own look at the airbrush work and the Eagles and fish I see somebody reupholstered this one someone's western-style look at those seats put some wood molding up some different colors to the wood bathrooms a little different in this one click they all pretty much had wet bath and there's the Mitchell boys I'll check this thing's got blue on the inside looks all like all the original interior we got a Christian themed graphic on this one this one looks like it's been painted look at that plaid folks this is pretty cool very neat neck cool look at those seats the counter looks like it might be newer oh look at the wall the backsplash that's definitely that's pretty nice look at the padded refrigerator in this one that's my attic nice upholstery got blinds on the back window I was gonna say this one's in the best shape you know that little bathroom that's pretty cool you think so oh yeah probably is I know they made them with these types of cushions on here the latches are different now see what I know is that it's probably original they're original right well you painted the bottom ones maybe I don't know see how they did it on the backs of the seats too looks like they had covers on them see the plastic covers how would you say the model of this eleganza looks pretty cool the airbrush cowboy ooh nice wood grain Dan check this out ooh green us to redone the backseats gold green yeah flat school that's the first TV I've seen in one look at the refrigerator looks like they cut right out of the side of this thing yeah it's got another TV in the back yeah early flatscreen really the bathrooms are they don't deviate much unless it's underneath there I don't want to mess with them too much nice enough to let us go inside these and check about good point here it looks like it must have been maybe a stock option on these that they all have the storage big ladders you grab out so you can get to it this one looks like this they don't all have to a cease either [Music] in class if you're going to videos life care drive you'd be amazed Mitchell [Music]
