GIRLS NIGHT OUT: Valentine's Day Drink Special

[Music] [Music] [Music] well hey everybody do i have something fun for you today this is my pre-valentine special i am here at one of my favorite restaurants in oklahoma city it's on the corner of 63rd and may in i guess that would be considered northwest oklahoma city for those of you that might be coming from out of town with my friend ennis andersen and i discovered this place through a mutual friend of ours marty jordan and she told me about i guess once a month you have a wine tasting with food pairing yeah it's a wine dinner we do a four course uh dinner yeah every four wines wine distributors and it's primarily italian cuisine now i was here i think it was for the december one and oh my gosh i just absolutely fell in love my husband and i have been back here numerous times since me primarily for your fabulous caesar salad i think it's the best in oklahoma city especially if you're an anchovy lover and your homemade pasta yeah yeah so we do we have a lot of people ever see the salad it's something that really is really good but we do make all of our pasta in house or our bread yeah so if you're on a carb diet low carb diet maybe not for you but i promise you will not regret making a reservation and coming here so what we're going to do tonight you are you have been so kind so gallant to do this for us so i asked him uh ennis and what who is the bar manager tonight sarah and they have come up with a couple of what we're thinking of as signature valentine cocktails because i'm going to have a valentine's day party on saturday and i ask them to give us some inspiration so they're going to whip them up for us tonight i think two or three or i'm not sure how many and we're going to vote on them i've about invited some of my friends here some of my gal friends here and we're going to vote on them you guys are going to instruct us in how to make them we'll share the recipe with you guys and basically we're just going to have some fun so let's get to it all right well thanks for being here absolutely [Music] [Music] so you know what let's i'm going to go around and just introduce everyone in this little semi-circle we've got going starting with sydney who everybody has probably already met because we have done videos with her in the past and this is pretty much every well you're not anymore but everybody here is from my neighborhood so sydney lives down the street from me this is my friend wendy who sells the neighborhood who used to live in the neighborhood and used to be in carpool with all my kiddos her kids were in carpool with mine and she you taught my son how to tie his shoes and to hold utensils and two oh no that's it you taught him how to hold a fork my sister taught him how to tie his shoes okay i'm a terrible terrible mom the bug whisperer carrie you guys know carrie my friend marty who introduced us to this restaurant and kind of came up with help did you come up with this idea for us to try this for valentine's day it wasn't me but it's a great idea it was a great idea my friend lisa who's daughter sitting next to her ellen was also part of the of the participants yes yes way back when now she's just turned into such a young lovely young lady and so all of us here are are just sampling the concoctions that they are coming up with behind the bar as um inspiration for a signature drink that we are going to serve at our valentine's party uh this saturday and we felt that since we would be doing most of the work but we would only invite the gals to taste test what we think we might be serving because that seems only fair absolutely right and i think we did that valentine party at my house one time before didn't we we've done a couple yeah yes and so this is kind of a core group of people that we we all do things together kind of all live close by but more importantly they like to entertain the way i like to entertain and that is potluck yes so that no one person ever has to do everything we all kind of take turns at our respective houses and then the person who is hosting the event will kind of come up with a theme then everybody will bring something according to that theme and we all always bring something to drink and wine and whatever but it works out real easily and i think it makes us get together and do stuff more frequently than we would otherwise so it works the operative phrase it makes us do stuff i know it makes us do stuff because why is it so hard to to do stuff coven notwithstanding right and you know a lot of people don't entertain in their homes very much anymore so okay so let's all just say cheers to us because we do oh my gosh wait we have a late we have a late arriver this is my friend jenny whom you guys may know i always talk about jenny from happy texas who is the bead buyer at hobby lobby and um so and she's also part of this this little group so i'm making everybody commit to being in an individual video with me so wendy is going to make her killer cake ellen is going to make her squash casserole lisa a whiskey tasting no because because lisa and i we are gals who love our whiskey sours and we test taste around the globe who has the best whiskey sours okay so i've got you for that you know what i really want you to do sometime i i i want you to do something yeah well i don't have a doctor trying but no but i do i i do think we need to do maybe something because she is a very accomplished horse woman okay so maybe we need to have the kentucky kentucky derby party at your house with a new kitchen okay but but are you still working with kids and is it what's it called at the coffee creek writing center yeah i was there today were you well i think that's absolutely fascinating and you know what i think that would be a great thing for us to do to do a shout out about that carrie carrie is just going to come to my house and i'll go to her house and she can identify all sorts she's the bug whisperer we can talk about yes yes and when she is looking away that's when i squish what bugs i don't like she won't even kill a slug or a snail and that's just wrong but i relocate them to your comfort zone to you yeah from which they promptly crawl out and then go and eat my hostas so wendy is going to do killer cake sydney has already said that she will let us come and do a house tour all the way through her kitchen and jenny and i at some point in time we're gonna are we gonna we've talked about i think we're gonna do shortbread too maybe we need to do we were going to do it for valentine's day and then we just got too busy so maybe we'll do it we should maybe do shamrock thing i have not that's been short in years okay okay so there you go i have gotten everybody now that they've got some alcohol in them i've got everybody committed to doing one video with me and so now let's go on to the next fun thing [Music] [Music] this fried risotto is absolutely incredible but i tell you this ravioli my new best friend i need to make this walnut pesto it is incredible [Music] oh okay the difference between that between the cosmopolitan and this bellini this is marty you're gonna like this better i think this is really fresh and crisp and sparkly like all you guys like it's lighter very refreshing not as sugary [Music] yeah you can it's it's subtle but i don't have as discriminating an alcohol palette as you do but i'll be curious to see because you you are sparkling gals you guys like your sparkling one yeah yeah i don't know it's pretty good it's really good and we're gonna have to vote okay so according to the rules that we have established here we are going to vote on our beverage which will be the signature cocktail for our party on valentine's night i will be acquiring all of the ingredients for for said signature cocktail and i have not influenced any of the votes we do not have any kind of sealed envelopes that we're going to order or anything but everyone is responsible for their own vote so we're going to go one by one there's no cheating you cannot bribe any judges or anything so we're going to go one by one starting with jenny at the end and we're just going to be very simple we'll put oh by the way you guys at the end we will put a screenshot this of the ingredients and the recipes for both of these cocktails if you want to concoct them at your valentine's party so let's start with jenny and just simply say cosmo or bellini cosmo cosmo cosmo cosmo cosmo cosmo cosmo oh my gosh if i i never would have guessed that it would be unanimous given that all of you girls like your champagne and your bubbles so there you go we are going to be making the the cosmopolitan for the limoncello cosmopolitan for our dinner party and i promise you that carrie or stuart will be there as we imbibe and we're all okay and while everybody's got some liquor in you i think we should dress up like you know dress up like we're grown-ups like like people who do stuff hey yeah okay and let's close it on that note ellen let's do stuff let's do stuff there you go see you guys linda has asked me to do today's question of the day and we are all curious to know by watching our video and seeing with the delicious drinks that we are trying what looks to be your favorite well if you've held on this long here is my fancy outfit of the day for a girls night out my earrings i got off of amazon this is part of that wooden earring collection i got not too long ago stuart let's put a link above my top isn't this fun it's got kind of a flamenco vibe and it's a turtleneck and i and but it's kind of lightweight so it's not too hot when you're indoors i got this off of poshmark my britches i got recently talk about channeling the 60s and 70s i got these recently from tarjay no less and my red booties i got these off of amazon as well so there you go there's my outfit of the day [Music] you
