Gimp Tutorial: How to outline an image in gimp

[Music] hi everyone it's towanda from laurenzo and in today's tutorial i'm going to show you how to outline an image in-game so for today's tutorial i'm going to be using this image an image of cyborg dc comics cyborg and i'm sure you can tell that the image has a transparent background if you do have an image with the background you can go ahead and remove that but if you don't know how to remove a background from an image i have a tutorial on how to do that where i show you three easy techniques you can use to remove the background from your image so let's get started on this one the steps are basically easy simple and straightforward the first thing you're going to do is select the select by color tool and click right in that in that empty space right there right then you right click select invert now this makes sure that our character is the one that has been selected now the next step is to right click select grow and for this tutorial we're going to grow by 10 but you can go ahead and use the size that suits you well that suits whatever it is you want to create so click ok and you can instantly tell that the area right around our image has been as increased in size it has grown so the next step is to create a new layer create a new layer like that and then we select the bucket tool now you make sure that the color you want to outline your image with is the one that is selected that's the one on top so in this tutorial we're going to be using white so just click right at the center there and then right click select none make sure we remove that selection drag that layer back on top the layer with the image and then there you have it the outline has been created so i'm sure you can tell that we outline an image by creating a secondary layer which will have that outline slightly bigger than the original image so we create an outline for an image by creating a second layer or third layer depending on on what you want to create now you can go ahead and merge these two layers if you want it's entirely up to you and what you want to create we also have tutorials on how to outline text in game i also have a link to that in the description below and i also have that right at the end of the video and as always if you find this useful or helpful don't forget to like the video share with your friends peers and colleagues and don't forget to subscribe thank you guys for watching [Music] you
