Giddy Up Ebike Seat Review | Are these the Best ebike seats?

hi this is John from reflections of our life before I start this video I do want to say that um the bike seats in this video uh were sent to me by giddy up uh to review um the comments that I make on these are my comments alone and uh they did not tell me what to say about them so these are true uh real world used comments okay let's get it started [Music] foreign most of you that have seen my videos before know that we're primarily an e-bike riding Channel where people follow along with us and listen to our stories uh see the scenery that uh that we're seeing as we ride along um but every now and then I get a few questions asking uh you know what bike is better you know what engine size is better uh questions about breaks questions about uh seats suspension posts all kinds of different things with the bikes so today I've got an opportunity to answer a question about bike seats so we've been fortunate enough to have a couple new seats sent to us and let me what I'm going to do is I'm going to put a bunch of seats out here on the table just to show you some of the seats that I've gone through and tried out and then I'll show you the seats that we're talking about today okay here's a couple of the seats that I use or have used this one actually came from an e-bike that I currently ride it came use this one quite a bit um it came on the ratten pretty pretty squishy uh it's got the rubber uh shocks right here not too bad it came with a suspension shock so it works fairly decent um also got a Schwinn it's got a swim seat you know they all look very similar [Music] let's see what else uh of course a lot of beautyware uh familiar with electric seats um again they look very similar any of these other ones they're a little thinner the reason I get a lot of the questions that I do is because a lot of people who watch my videos have electric bikes and um it's just a little bit tough so we're always looking for a good new new seat another seat that I've had that's Cloud9 there's a whole lot of different uh versions of the cloud nine this one is the one that we ride on most or have up to this point um pretty good it's got spring shocks uh pretty nice but the seats that I want to talk about today come from a company called giddy up now I'm not going to bore you with an unboxing um you open a box there's some there's a couple seats in them plastic over them uh we take the plastic out and the plate or we take the plastic off and this is what we're left with now these are pretty nice they come with um getting up uh cover which is nice whenever you're taking your bikes in transit so um of course when they come you can take these off and I've got two of these by the way two different types of seeds uh this is a uh a leather leather type seat uh stitching is very nice see if you can see the stitching I don't know if the lighting is very good stitching is very very nice there's no gaps um everything's real tight it's got the hole in the center here for ventilation and comfort for your tailbone area um really good seat I rode with this one for quite a while at least I don't know 20 30 miles on this seat and um it worked really nice really happy with it it uh of course it has giddy up there on the back it's got the uh the rubber ball suspension on the bottom which works works really well um and like I said it was really comfortable in the longer rides as most of you know and maybe can see I'm a bigger guy close to 300 pounds so Comfort is very important especially when you're on a folding e-bike most of you know the the seating position is pretty straight up and down so most of your weight is on your rear end not a lot of weight on your arms so a comfortable seat is mandatory if you're going to do long rides the thing that I really like about this seat is it has a light in the back that'll blink actually you hit a button you can just have the red light hit it again you can get a fast blink hit it again you can have a slow blink and this is in the daytime it's about one o'clock in the afternoon and uh I think it shows up pretty well on camera pretty nice um it does take a battery I haven't opened the battery compartment it's got four screws underneath here I would imagine it probably takes some type of a watch battery and it was around flat batteries would go in here not sure how long it lasts but I would imagine that lasts a pretty good amount of time they do attach like a lot of seeds with the little hole you just stick your stem right in there tighten up you know so you can slide this forward and backward forward and backward on the rails here to get a comfortable seat slide it Forward you'll be a little bit farther away from from the handlebars go backward and it brings a seat forward to bring you up closer to your handlebars so you're able to adjust it that way you can also adjust it up and down and uh real nice goes on super easy with a wrench um the other seat and again it's got the seat cover to keep it from getting Dusty scraped up or whatever when it's on your bike whether it's in the garage if you're haul it in a car you don't want to get your seat all marked up you can just put the cover right back over it protect you um the other seat that they sent and this after uh after riding about 20 or 30 miles on each seat this definitely is my favorite um I didn't know how I would like this type of seat I have never seen one in person before never tried one um I had seen one line thought about getting one before but just hadn't done it um this one is actually attached to a regular seat post no suspension when I tested these seats I did not want a suspension seat post I wanted to be able to feel how the seats felt without the suspension seat post so that I'd get a true feeling of how the seats felt so I used the standard straight seat post um this seat again comes with the cover which protects your seat when you're not using it and this is the wing Style Wing Style and if you forgive me just for one second I'm going to get a tape measure and I will measure this for you hang on one second okay guys I'm back I should have been a lot more prepared than that excuse me okay so here it is again we've got the giddy up here got the same type of leather covering uh waterproof um as far as I know at least water resistant uh it's a Memory Foam uh type I mean real spongy um I also like how this seat is kind of cut out it's got a real swooping cut out here it gives you uh you know I've seen some of these where this front end is shorter I kind of like the longer end because you know your thighs are here it gives you a little bit more control over uh I don't know just gives you a little bit it feels like you have more control of the bike whenever you're pedaling so um I like how this is a little bit longer again you can uh it goes on uh through the hole in the post you can see that the way it just sticks right up in there tighten the bolt it's also got the rails so you can slide it forward or backward whichever you like I slide it about as far forward as you can get it so that the seat is in a backward position a back position farther away from the handlebars as a lot of you know with the e-bikes they tend to sit up a little bit higher and uh the problem is whenever you go to get off um whenever you go to get off uh you end up having to slide off the front of this of the uh seat so I like a little bit more room in the front so I always have my seat in the forward position um which actually sends the seat backward so I like to have my seat in the forward position which actually sends makes the seat go back so that I'm gonna have more room between the seat and the handlebar so I can slide off whenever we stop um again this one has the lights you've got just a solid light you've got the fast blink and you've got the slow blink whichever you like which in the dark is very noticeable um matter of fact I took a video of this seat out of my garage at night time just to show you how bright it is in the dark so take a look I'll attach that right now all right I'm in the garage and uh I wanted to turn on both the bike light as well as the seat light which is up top there let me just show you how bright it is um in the dark it also can blink fast like that or you can have a little bit slower blink by pushing the button whichever you'd like so I think that uh that should let you be seen pretty much any place any time of night so as you can see this thing this light here is more than enough uh to be visible I don't really do a lot of riding at night time but you know at dusk you know I ride quite a bit at dusk when the sun's just starting to go down you'll get Shadows having this light uh I feel is very very nice and uh this is a seat that uh you know I was really happy with um the width of this seat let's measure real quick um the width of this seat is about 12 inches across okay just to give you an idea for instance the cloud nine seat is about uh about 10 inches across so this is a you know a couple inches wider which for bigger People Like Us or me I speak for myself uh The Wider the better for us larger rear end of people so um yeah I like the width sitting on this seat right here is almost it almost feels like you're sitting on your couch uh no joke um I saw a couple reviews people that use these wider type seats and they were unhappy with them because they felt these wider Wings interfered with their uh with their legs when they would pedal um this seat if you can tell you get it in see if I can get into gamma range you know it it bends it's very sturdy and you've got to really tug on it but it bends so it'll Bend with your legs and as I was pedaling um I it didn't interfere with my legs whatsoever um again this has the rubber ball type suspension back here um one other thing to mention um you know with these seats like a lot of seats um a lot of these seats actually use this type that sticks up through here what do we have we've got uh you know you may come across seat posts that don't use that and they use this that connects to you to the rail on the bottom of the seat if you can see that it clamps onto the rail there's no hole that the seat so that the seat post goes through well on this one on both of these Giddy Up seats you can actually take this part off but with the hole and just have the rails so that you can use them on these types of seat posts uh so you can use both types so they'll work on both so after riding with both of these Giddy Up seats I have to say I really really like them um this seat is probably more for me and the people that are edging toward 300 pounds this one good for people around 200 pounds or less the heavier you get you know the more you'd rather have this one let's just say love both of these um would I buy them would I recommend them I sure would uh the great thing about this one it's a lot like the Cloud9 and the other seats but it has the light and it's in most cases a few dollars cheaper than some of the other seats without the light great one thing I forgot to mention the wide seat here and I'll turn this off real quick the light back here actually is rechargeable it comes with a cord that uh plugs into the set plugs in right here and here's the cord it plugs right into there and then this will plug into a USB charging block into your computer whatever and you can charge that don't have to buy batteries another plus of this big wide seat you also get allen wrench a regular wrench and this is a reflective armband you can put on your arm your leg that comes with all both seats um like I said the wrench is what you would use for in most cases but if you have this type that connect to the railing of the seat they come with these hex screws and that's what this little hex wrench would be good for Allen wrenches so all these seats that I've showed you so far um I would ditch them I would ditch them all for these two mainly this one for me the wide one this one maybe for my wife or my kids but and there's not a lot of difference there's three or four dollars five dollars difference between the two big seat rechargeable battery blinking lights this one takes a battery um but it's nice and comfortable both of them are nice and comfortable we've got no complaints with them if you're interested in either of these seats by Giddy
