don't mess up the intro don't mess up the intro whoa it's woolsey i'm on my alt account dan's woman again welcome back to the co-op building series level swap today i've got sub woofer subwoofer hi hello hi i'm subwoofer subwoofer right gotcha i've just unlocked an achievement for following you insane it's a sign it's going to be a great video this is a level swap subwoofer and i are both going to start brand new levels but every 20 minutes we must pass our levels over to each other until we've had three turns building on each level which is six total time slots the end goal is to make a functional part of a level in our building time we're going to split up and record individually so make sure that you watch the other side if you want to see their perspective too and uh yeah is there anything you have to say before we start i'm gonna try and screw you up as bad as possible because i wanna see what you can do starting the timer in three two one let's go good luck good luck man little does he know that i'm gonna try and mess him up with the song choice in this level swap time eater by lapse this should be out of his comfort zone it's like a weird ambient sort of fusion style song i think it's really interesting gonna put us in a very weird place because his level style is often about surroundings and a theme when this is quite abstract so it's gonna be a wild ride so in this i'm gonna mess with a couple of slopes you see there's a gimmick right here where you can't just fall off of this slope you have to jump really early to avoid hitting your head on this block right here and i'm also going to play with a couple of half blocks on the sides of these objects just to make them a strange length also going to make one of these weird blue pad slabs right there i'm also putting a purple orb that you need to press to stop the yellow pad chucking you too far in the air since this orb kind of cancels the momentum that that yellow part gives you and instead you're gonna be hitting another yellow pad which is after it so it's still gonna sink to the drum and in this robot portal i wanna contrast large jumps like these with little small jumps there's a jump into a yellow pad as you can see right there then i'm gonna finish the level with an orb timing before structure i need to do the visibility test to make sure all of the structures are visible on the screen at all times yes they do and that's an evil timing i need to space out a little bit more just so the screen doesn't like jolt as soon as you hit that orb but i think it's solid it's 11 seconds probably 12 when i extend it a little bit probably put a platform after this orb jump i'm going to add a couple of these floating structures right here i think they look cool how they're in like four parts it kind of reminds me of like the skeleton of a fish in a way how each part is like sectioned off from one another then these are like the freest structures in the world to make i can just line the sides can't forget to add saws i'm gonna special rotate these on ten i've spaced out some of the spike blocks with one step on either side so there's a two-step gap in the middle i think that could be nice for movement potential sometimes i'm just feeling a structure right there i don't want to extend it downwards either because the blocks are too small or awkwardly positioned i just like having the biggest structure underneath i'm kind of feeling this orb decoration with p1 on the left and p2 on the right it can also be flipped on its side like that yeah that's neat i'm not going to put on every single orb though because it would get clustered that way probably going to scale it down here as well just because there's an object so close to it that's 20 minutes up bro i gave you a lot of gameplay i was more or less focused on making gameplay c cave me in featuring a show it's a little difficult it is a little difficult this might be another no club episode this is nice oh this is this is nice this is nice this actually is flow to it 23 seconds oh my god this is gonna be the longest one ever it has a drop oh my god i'm thinking about what i want to do for this oh my god have you ever seen a drop in a woolsey level before no no i haven't good luck man three two one let's go go this is nerve-wracking subwoofer is a very fast creator he's made a lot of levels lately so i know he's got some decent speed under his belt okay the key here i think is to use an object that has a base and a detail like two different colors and i can set two pulses to one object to make it a bit more efficient and you know all that jazz so we're setting the base of this object to copy the color of the background with plus point two the detail can probably go to black which i always make nine for some reason yeah that looks about right to me this object is set to group two i'm going to make some testing pulses but what's important to note is that group one is set to zero opacity that's just a given for any level for these pulse triggers i'm going to set some brightness changes that is going to be a pretty desaturated red detail only and then main only so you see the lighting on the block pulses before the actual block to sync my pulses consistently i've got one on the first beat one on the last beat then i'm going to copy paste this one six times i think that's seven actually hold on yeah the seventh there and then plus one here that makes eight i can align on the x and they will be consistently spaced for a few underlay blocks i'm probably going to copy the exact same thing but on the layer above i'm going to copy a low opacity black object that's on the same scale and everything just like this group 3 will be used for that three half opacity to layer that on top on like b1 or something i don't know you can see the difference that makes already i can spam that around a little bit especially in the blocks where it's like wrapped around the edge and behind these i'm probably gonna put some glow that's on background blending just on the next three group like this it has the group of the pulsing objects so it kind of fits in with everything it's got that same tension going with it this is honestly a pretty promising start i've managed to make two uses out of one design and two uses out of one pulse which is just great for me that's gonna put me in a great mentality to build the rest of this now this is pretty monochromatic so far i think i'm probably gonna use some of these pulsing objects to bring in player colors i don't know probably gonna add some quarter opacity strips just to fill in a bit more space make it look like i've done more to intimidate subwoofers so i can have a better performance than someone for a change to texture this a little bit i'm gonna copy the values then scale up one of these pulsing square objects and just paste it in there probably take off group two so it doesn't pulse with the strip like that you can see it really should be fine the only issue i'm gonna have with this level is the length because it's 23 goddamn seconds long that's almost half a level for my standards oh since i've laid this nicely i can slot it underneath some blocks that's nice especially when i've got like these arches probably gonna add some white pulsing objects underneath the blocks these could pose to black if they stand out too much but i quite like the idea of just having some bright white details to contrast all the other darkness and hey they don't look too bad when everything's post up like that so i'm going to add a block transition on the sides and then play test this just to see how it looks i think we've done a decent amount already we've got some glow in there we've got some black pulsing objects that are kind of stealing the limelight yeah i think it's decent as long as howard can fill in these big open spaces in between i have no idea how to do that he's built them so i'm assuming that he knows how to fill that oh my god i've actually managed to do a slope all by myself look at that i don't know how to decorate slopes honestly let's see if i can get a spike done in this time yeah black is perfect we're gonna make that the pulsing object and then we can have an invisible black spike that doesn't pulse above it i'm debating whether to add a little white one to kind of build in the white pulsing objects i don't know i could just do it small like that you know what i'm gonna do it i'm only gonna have time to replace the big spikes but nonetheless i'm pretty happy with what i've managed to accomplish in the first round that might be my hugest first round ever it's just a shame that it's on an absolutely massive level so it just does not matter the spikes are kind of weird they slink into the background a lot and they have the big uh pulsing strips behind them especially maybe if i got rid of these pulsing objects i don't know i don't have time for this okay i'm gonna quickly put them on point one and how it's gonna mute in one second pretty much okay boom done okay okay okay oh dude this is sick okay i can vibe with this i'm excited i like this okay yeah yeah i can i can make this i'm impressed good luck so subwoofer has this wavy overlay to the blocks whatever color this is five okay it's five and then just some like random stuff for the hsv like what is that i always tick these boxes i have no idea what any of this means i'm going to scale up some triangles take that color channel 5 add a bunch of darkness to it and i'm hoping that i can just kind of spam this underneath yeah perfect that's exactly what i was looking for paris said in his level swap that you can spam objects and make it look like you're doing something and that's exactly what i'm doing this one could genuinely be done in like three rounds or be possible i mean not done obviously but yo i gotta be respectful though i need to make sure that i'm not just overwriting his designs completely okay so i've decided that i'm probably going to make a quick detour in what i'm doing i want to make a new color channel that has that exact shade of that color that we have a bit brighter okay there that's just about right so instead of having everything linked to that five we're instead gonna put it on the two and delete the hsv okay any hsv changes like brightness would apply to a pulse as well which meant that i couldn't post to white like i wanted so nothing changes i can just make pulses to these now by adding these to a group three and then looking for what howard's done over here so these pulse white to the drums very cool what i'm going to do is extend the last pulse i think to like a 1.5 so you get that full descent from that white to the blue then underneath this i'm going to put some light background beams okay what i want to do is space a beam together like that so there's a light overlap in the middle set that to a new color channel which copies the color of the background with blending just like the previous level i want to underlay these beams and so direct them towards the middle of the block and point them out in different directions i've made my own color channel because they weren't going bright enough all right i think that looks pretty neat if i set them to invisible and then make them pulse it's going to be a lot nicer i think so group four group four on don't fade don't enter can be invisible at the very beginning probably gonna make them fade on as the pulses are happening and then fade off as they stop happening i think that's gonna be a smart way to go about things now i'm trying not to put them on every single block because when the lines overlap you can see up there it gets a little bit sticky so subwoofer has been working with a lot of slopes and layering i'm gonna try and mirror that to start off a block design in the robot i guess so i could do something like this with color channel five that doesn't look too bad i could probably scale it up layer it below and decrease the brightness oh what was it he was doing like this with the saturation and then changing the hue slightly i have no idea yeah that looks about right i'll probably move another layer down so i can add glow in between like black glow i've decided to overlay them across the tops of some objects like this okay i've scouted these around i'm gonna add these to a new group now number five and these can kind of float around five can move around like five minus four just random numbers i've done this before in a bunch of other videos but i think it's gonna be nice just to have them be a little asset that overlays the blocks a little bit okay so the plan was to add some massive black blocks underneath these objects but the red squiggles are going to make that a little bit difficult what i'm going to have to do is add some pretty big glow underneath scaled up like that that copies the color of the background on the layer above these objects so pretty high of b4 don't fade don't enter once again and these can kind of make them fade into the background like that maybe if i make that a corner fade it will work a bit better then as this part goes on i can take that black that's on color channel nine and just make a nice long post to white and off again okay that's time nice i don't know about nice but yeah same i've done some stuff and i don't know if you're gonna vibe with it but it i think it looks cool i've done some stuff and i think it's fine i'm probably gonna be fine with whatever you have i made it more cave-like cave-like oh the spiky rings that's neat yeah the arrows are cool i like the triangles they're nice yeah nice bump triangles good luck confidence is kind of going not gonna lie i've got an idea for the background but after this i'm completely stumped i've got no idea what else to add to the beginning so i'll probably move on to the wave i'm going to put a big pillar of ground spikes like that as you can see i'm going to turn this into a background using group 18 for the moving group then on the left side of these spikes it's going to be group 19 and the right side is going to be 20 okay i'm gonna rotate them slightly and then copy them in the background like this and these will move towards the player pretty quickly since they're pretty fast spaced out i could have probably put them closer to each other but whatever so there's a bit of buffer in the beginning where i can really set up this movement and have time to get it into place so 18's moving back about 40 blocks in 15 seconds or something i don't know oh i just noticed that he toggled these orbs into circles and squares that's cool anyway i'm distracted let's set up some pulses for the left side and the right side individually copy color background just a bit more bright i'm gonna make the fade in time longer than the fade out time i think that's going to be pretty stylistic gonna change the hue on the second one i know this is more green so i might try out a little bit of pink honestly does that clash a little bit but whatever who cares it's gonna keep copy pasting these the sync doesn't matter it's just where the duration lines meet whenever i'm stumped with something i end up just making a pulsing effect somehow and then i reuse those groups to make some other details it always just brings back my momentum let's see i might have to tone down the opacity of these a little bit but that doesn't look too bad you know i just heard in the song it says cave in and he's making a cave oh my god i've underlaid some ground spikes this is so weird i'm just gonna keep pretending that the wave part at the end doesn't exist and then after making those pulsing objects i'm just finding myself using them for orbs somehow i have no idea i may have messed this up a little bit but i kind of like the party style that this has got even if it's got some cave like tropes right here i'm not sure about these glow pieces underneath the orbs it kind of just smudges everything awkwardly but i should probably do something here but i just don't know what like come on there's a pillar here which is on color channel 11 the dark background one don't fade don't enter a new moving group an individual group and then in the center of it there's going to be a centerpiece we'll just make that invisible right there so it needs its own id it needs the moving group uh none of this matters it's going to be invisible i accidentally took a steam screenshot god damn so i've got another copy of that same strip on a new editor layer it needs another unique id so 22 and 24 22 can go once around the center id which is 21 then 24 can go the opposite direction that's the wrong box to click there we go the center is 23 god damn it okay so the background makes an x shape wow really cool good job there let me copy this strip put it on a new group a new editor layer decrease the scale of it i guess so it's skinnier increase the brightness on it individually by point one yeah that'll do it's gonna be on the layer above and then i need to make another copy of it which can go on end to layer five so 25 and 26 are the next ones 25 is gonna go 180 degrees so half of a full turn and then 26 is gonna go -180 set them to an appropriate moving time that's just about the ending there so you can see there's two parts to this the lighter part of it rotates slower than the background piece then very quickly i'm adding a new one 27 which is going to rotate twice around 360 behind everything it's supposed to be low opacity did you make it cave themed because of the lyric that says cave in yes it's funny because i have that song just like saved on my playlist i was always thinking because it wasn't always on newgrounds and i was like dang it'll be really cool if there's like a cave theme bubble with the song because it says cave c4 it's not the bomb don't worry okay i see these little particles that looks sick the glow is nuts whoa okay i like that a lot i like the background thing and i like the the like supporting structures for those first part are nice i thought not many people would use ground spikes there so how yeah i was like all right i want to do ice for this bit that's sick okay damn all right so i want to link the spikes and the swords together since they're both kinda black in this mix of blue there's gonna be three parts to this spike the black base which is going to have a group to pulse there's going to be some glow that sits on top hold on let me just fix this there we go and then the white which is going to be right on the very top and that's just going to give it a bit of shine to it and then i guess these saws are just going to slink right in again i guess these saws can copy those values of the black base of the spike and then it can have that same glow to it although it's not going to be as effective as the other because the inside of it is completely hollow actually that looks nice i can't lie then i guess we can just add a pulsing ring on the inside which has the same values as the tip of the spike right there i kind of forgot that these spikes are going to have different sizes not gonna lie all right made some minis thank goodness for that i was panicking there group 10 copies the color channel five point zero five and point five just like that just a very simple pulse like that then before it there's gonna be a more saturated but a darker pulse which is much shorter as you can see it's 0.1.3 on the fade times i think that looks sick the drums are the real bright ones i'm now going to select the little slabs that are sitting on the side of the blocks here and there at the same time as the group 10 pulse triggers i've got an 11 which on the detail only goes straight to black as you can see they have a bit of contrast with the rest of the structures right there so the black in the source is never really lost when the pulses are happening it's always somewhere the background is going up in its shade just like that then on color channel 13 i'm gonna paste the background color a tiny bit brighter i'm gonna add these massive block spaces underneath just open around some of these objects and it kind of spices up how the waves appear on top of the blocks here i like that a lot the spikes in the beginning have no design i might just set them to copy the values of the triangles make links from the top of the object to the bottom you can see right now i'm adding some pulsing triangles behind that have that weird light pink space behind them to make the spiral stand out even in the beginning then the mini spikes can probably just go to white and white honestly okay now i'm just gonna play from the beginning to see if i notice any oversights other than that i think the level's pretty much done yeah it's so seamless i can't believe this has turned out so well it doesn't seem like the iced blocks have don't fade don't enter yeah that was horrible was it oh i forget i completely forgot about the other level i just got lost in how beautiful this is all right more cave stuff i feel pretty confident in one of them good luck on the other one yeah this one oh it's the longest one that we've had and it also has a drop so i mean exactly good luck good luck i don't know what i've just done but i've just spammed a bunch of spikes and slopes to try and build in that space a bit better it's random it's wacky i don't know we're moving on from this because oh god it's a nightmare let me just put these on invis i think black blending is the trick yep much faster than selecting group one we're just gonna do this it's lazy but we're just gonna do this we need to fix this mess of a drop right here like what is going on here let's just reuse a couple of his things add some glow on the inside you know the emergency glow it's all gonna be cool and good i'm sure of it i've resorted to just completely spamming ground spikes on the floor this is 31 this is gonna be 32 it's gonna be 33 and they're just gonna pause like crazy poppy color background brightness a little bit saturation a little bit .05 one and then give it a bit of time two three and then we can just keep on pulsing these over and over again i guess i have no idea i just need to place down a lot of details without really looking back and just commit to them because i don't have time to mess around i copy pasted a massive chunk okay don't tell anyone don't tell anyone does this just fit in here please oh it doesn't fit why these cool and then we could probably just put spikes in the middle that have these groups there's three of them perfect okay to save my time i've just made the spikes black and i'm gonna add the pulsing stuff behind them the triangles that have the groups okay this is genius you know what's great i can do the exact same thing with a couple of arrows okay watch this arrow color channel 9 b1 don't fade don't enter okay and then we scale it up and then we put group 31 or something i don't know black blending behind it there we go it's immediately fire then i can probably put a 33 on the inside right there on t1 so it stands out above the black cool i did something this level had so much hope in the beginning but it's just way too long for either of us to care about this wave okay then we just add some background triggers that just randomly change the hue i have no idea what i'm doing i forgot to do the spike thing on this side oh what is that color hold on one needs to change one has got to go cool i fixed it i think very nice on a new editor layer t3 above literally everything don't fade don't enter the moving group 21 we need to make a black blending screen that's just going to uplift all of the color and just hopefully make it look a bit better this right here could make or break this wave part i have no idea which way it's going to turn was going to copy all of these pulse triggers and make group whatever that was did i even give it a group i don't think i did 34 a really bright pretty saturated decently huge background color oh my god that's so bright no no no no no what is why did i make this what color is that five okay so i'm gonna get five of these pulsing groups two i'll show you this in slow motion i don't think it's awful okay i need to make the transition in and out definitely but that's not that bad right considering the time that i made this in oh i forget about the ending whatever how do i make that not look like poop okay i have a solution watch this we're gonna select the whole ending give it 35 let me just remove that little block down there and these portals and stuff hold on 35 is on a pulse trigger which holds black for five seconds then fades out for point two right before the level kicks in you can see it ends right there i didn't make an end screen holy crap select all new group 38 gotcha uh alpha 38 right at the very ending just like that maybe 0.3 or something i don't know and then there's going to be text at the very bottom that says c no not c f just c right there really small like that on white white please there we go it's on group 39 which is going to fade in just like that and then 39 will get turned off before you get to it please oh right as the time ended absolutely wow it's double the length of the better one probably the best in the series and it's bad i couldn't have guessed i like the little snazzy um snazzy slabs that you put in instead of just this is good what the hell this is great what do you mean it's good oh that end screen is is banger i love it you can't say that you can't say that let's see is bad because it's not i was very confident in you from the very beginning though because you always make stuff really quickly yeah i i figured i was gonna like build pretty quickly with this stuff i just needed to get as much as i could as quickly as i as possible because he only built in 20 minute intervals yeah the fact that past the bluff was pretty much done in like round three yeah just that like once again you really get going with it it's actually it's so sick that was awesome um so buffer obviously very talented go and check him out on youtube he will be uploading his point of view of this video three hours after this premiere ends so yeah anything you want to say right there
