I made a video but I'm imperfect I make mistakes I'm only human and not a very good one apparently now I'm making another video here's a genin would never followup addressing a lot of your comments on a number of things before that I have disclaimers I'm speculating I don't work for Mi hoyo I don't know how they operate so much of what I say is a guess and not necessarily a good one my genin would never video was mostly the same in fact I didn't even agree with some of the points I made which is kind of funny considering I said it but the point of that video was to try to remain what optimistic and to keep an open mind so despite me disagreeing with what I said the idea was to explore any possible reasons not just the ones I thought were true another disclaimer I like both genin and star rail I made some points regarding one or the other and I think some people understood it as an attack on their favorite game and that wasn't the intention just because I'm comparing and contrasting things doesn't mean I'm saying one is good and the other is bad the point is to show they're different and on that note comparing genin to Star rail is not very sensical the only reason I made the comparisons I did was to emphasize that they're not really comparable I realized that a funny thing to hear if I say star gives more pulls than genin that doesn't mean I think genin is worse if I say the average star rail player benefits from having more units to easily achieve greater success that doesn't mean I think star rail is worse it just means they're different and they should be treated differently and mihoyo knows this too that's why the pull economies are different in regards to Greater success I do see a lot of people saying you don't need five-star units to clear star rail content people can clear memory of chaos with four-star units and earn full rewards I know I never said you couldn't clear I said having a more diverse roster could help you tackle the various forms of endgame star has don't put words in my mouth I put enough things in there as it is that being said a lot of my thoughts will be somewhat biased based on my personal experiences because I'm a person and it's my video I do what I want last disclaimer I read through as many of these comments as I could and I tried to respond to all of them even if it was something as simple as a like or a heart when I went through these comments in preparation for this video I noticed some new ones that slipped through my notifications if I didn't answer your questions or didn't read your comments my bad if I don't address your questions or comments in this video it's either because I didn't see it or it overlaps with another comment that I will address or I just don't have a good answer that being said if you have more questions you can leave them in this video and I promise to try but before the questions I did mention earlier that I didn't necessarily agree with everything I said in the previous video I do believe most things to be at least plausible but perhaps not in its entirety and I liberally apply benefit of the doubt even if I'm thinking otherwise it is not a good habit of mine but going forward I'll probably continue to do the same at least partially because I'm a deeply flawed individual and I lowkey want to be taken advantage of I'm don't do that I have trouble saying no if I were a game developer I'd want to make the best game I could you want artifact loadouts you got it epitomize path for fourar characters let me shake your wiener while I'm at it epitomize path tokens that carry over to the next Banner daring today aren't we skipping cut scenes okay chill out psychopath that being said Miya is Rich and I'm not the example I posed in my old video was the quality of life update for multi-level Maps it takes time to implement it has to work retroactively and proactively and there are a lot of them I'm glad a lot of you like like that example because it's the only good one I could think of there are some quality of life updates that we could have but don't for reasons I just don't know what those reasons are why we don't have simple things like increased condensed resin cap or dark mode for loading screens I couldn't tell you then there are some quality of life updates that are probably intentionally withheld because genin either retains players better or earns more money without them regarding player retention look at the auto equip artifact system we have you can do a quick configuration based on the game's recommendation or a configuration based on the stats you want to prioritize this is almost certainly more complicated than just saving a Loadout slot I have been farming emblem of severed fate for a long time I have enough emblem artifacts to feed a small African village or one of me on a lonely night if I had two or three really strong sets I could stop there and just hot potato them from character to character if it were as simple as two or three clicks but we can't do it in two or three clicks it's a lot of clicks that's a pain in the ass I'd rather just Farm more sets so if I'm farming more sets I'm more concerned about my Risin which means I'm more concerned about logging in regularly you were probably already logging in for your daily Primo gem trickle anyway but giving you more things to do creates and strengthens a routine which subconsciously creates a dependency I remember playing games where I would grind so hard it smooth out my brain so now I play gotas nowadays if I don't want to do something I simply don't unless it gets me PS epitomized path tokens are another example we likely don't have a system like that for fourstar units because a lot of you gambling addicts will try to pull for those units on event banners where you don't want the five-star unit then the five star unit shows up and people react like oh no how could I get Wanderer on wanderer's Banner this outcome was truly unforeseen wander remains don't take this personally I do like him a lot but he surprised me early when I was trying for a copy of farizon this outcome was truly unforeseen as an extra piece of info for you any given tenpole has about a 5.8% chance of grabbing you a festar unit before soft pity that means you have a little over a one in 12 chance of getting an early festar do with this information which you will if you're going for a specific four-star unit on a manner know that it's a trap you have a 50% chance to get one of the three rate up fourstar units that means if you're going for one unit in particular assuming no guarantee that's a little under a 17% chance that the fourar you pull is the one you want if you do have the guarantee which only guarantees that you get one of the three not the one you're targeting that's still only 33% odds are not in your favor they're in mihoyo if they Implement an epitomized path for four-star characters you have a hard limit where you can stop comfortably this is even worse for four-star weapons for obvious reasons if they added that character or weapon to the star glitter shop instead it's likely the same situation where if you're already sitting on a cushion of currency you may not be tempted to pull on the banner at all regarding five star weapons that Banner is also kind of a trap most free tolay or low Spenders avoid this Banner in general both before the epitomized path system and after some five star weapons are pretty strong but none of them are required to push content in this game with that in mind people who are free to play or low Spenders would likely still avoid the weapon Banner because there aren't too many cases where you would prefer to have a weapon when you could have a new character instead the people that don't avoid this Banner are the ones that usually know what they're getting themselves into they were likely planning to go in with the optimized path token system in mind either that or they've truly embraced the gambling life this transitions nicely into the first actual comment you don't include the weapon banners for Star rail a lot of players pulls go into those banners star rail instead of having a 50 50 has a 7525 and doesn't have an epitomized pity system not to mention the herter shop weapons or light cones give free alternatives for free-to-play players genin's weapon Banner needs 240 pulls to guarantee a weapon while star whale only needs 160 I'd like to know your reasoning behind why star whale is generous with such a merciful weapon Banner compared to genjin first of all genin's weapon Banner is worse it's technically also a 7525 but that 75 is split between two weapons so it's really a 37.5 62.5 if you're only interested in one of the two but I know what you mean gjon's weapon Banner is dog water while honkey star rails looks pretty good in comparison I didn't address this in my first video since I was mostly in the mentality that freet to-play or low Spenders should be avoiding weapon banners in either game but my opinion on this has somewhat changed I'm not saying you should pull on L cones since I still believe that having a new character is better for the overall health of an account but because there's significantly less risk you can kind of justify it if it's for a character you really like in addition to this I think lones are generally made more accessible both through the banner and from free-to-play sources like her to shop because you have a lot more content to do I know how this sounds give me a minute it might not be what you're thinking in a game like genin your only endgame combat content is spiral Abyss for now we've established in the first video that genin gives fewer pulls because the endgame content doesn't necessarily demand too much variety yes pulling certain units can make things easier but I've been seam rolling Abyss content using units like Hut kaching and the Fantastic for since nearly the beginning if you don't need as many units you may not feel inclined to pull as many units that means you're building fewer units in terms of talent and Ascension levels what does that leave weapons and artifacts genin has a lot of good four-star weapon choices and we already talked about why the weapon Banner is cringe so all that's left is dumping your res res into artifacts no one likes the artifact grind this is not a quick napkin math kind of problem but I did some quick napkin math anyway and your odds of getting a flower with crit rate crit damage em and er are hysterically low this is before considering enhancements and this is also on a flower where your main stat is fixed on flat HP and you have no variations to concern yourself with now most people stop farming far before obtaining the perfect artifact so this number is somewhat meaningless but let's say your gold is a modest artifact with double crit stats according to the genjin wiki it's about a 9% chance you find or enhance a flower or feather and it ends up looking like some good food after your four subsets are established your chances of rolling into any one of them are supposed to be equal so let's say you have four rolls remaining and you want to hit either crit substat your odds are about 6% to hit one or the other every time and that's not even addressing high or low roles where you have a 25% chance to hit anywhere from bad to bad mid to bad good to good now do it for the rest I couldn't find the weighted numbers for Star rails Relic subsets on the wiki but statistics from the Chinese Community do show that subsets indeed have different weights so let's pretend for the sake of argument that it's about the same star ra has six relics you have to worry about compared to genjin 5 on top of having more main stats and more sub stats and I'm not even considering set bonuses because it's just another restriction yanking on your balls star rail does have ways to alleviate this issue like self- modeling resin allowing you to choose your main stat but the substats are so Random you can also craft relics but it takes quite a few garbage ones to make yourself one new piece of garbage on top of that we also have Relic drop rate events where you can get trash twice as fast it's almost like hoyo knows your inventory is going to look like a compost heap I'm too lazy to do all the math and my Google Sheets is already starting to sweat but let's assume these features give both games about the same opportunity for nice things if all else is equal it really isn't just like some characters in genin get a pretty big stat Boost from their signature artifact bonuses some characters in Star also benefit greatly from their respective best and Slot sets so you'll likely be farming a specific domain for a while in a game like genin where you probably aren't pulling for as many limited units you naturally have fewer units to finish in a game like Star rail where you may find yourself pulling for more units to fill holes in your roster you'll have a lot more units to build and a lot more relics to farm for your TR blaz power may be spread thin as you try to cover several bases some of you may be fortunate enough to pull for units that share a stamina efficient domain and some of you may be perfectly content in settling for a good enough option but I also Imagine many of you like the idea of bringing out the best in your characters so maybe you spend some time farming for blades longevous disciple set then take a break to go back to farming the quantum domain having easier access to strong light cones can help alleviate any weaknesses you may have in your relics as time goes on your relics will get better however you may notice that memory of chaos and pure fiction also receive Buffs patch over patch now if my Goa brain has taught me anything it's that we have small attention spans and someone forgot my disclaimers I'm not saying genin is better or Star rail is better I'm not saying you need five star light cones to clear content the games are different so they are balanced differently the tldr is genin has no endgame yet and you can spend a lot of time farming for artifacts because you might not feel the need for a lot of characters star rail has a lot of endgame so you might want a lot of characters so your relics may suffer good like cones can help you suffer less the next question in the same comment is Dr raia was given for free and he's good why couldn't aloy be given the same treatment I don't know for certain what their design philosophy was for aloy or if they even had one at all I think if there's anything Miho was concerned about with genin even Beyond money it's trying to keep their lore tight and their game balanced this indirectly leads to more money but this is aloy's time aloy was released as a collaboration project for the game's release on PlayStation and it seemed like she was released out of obligation instead of something the genjin team wanted to do I don't think she's actually meant to exist since her motion values are low the kid itself isn't particularly cohesive and she has no presence in any kind of eventor story outside of her birthday maale regarding genin's lore I remember some people saying aloy is a descender and I'm pretty sure this wasn't mihoyo's intention regarding her combat performance the safest thing they could do from a balance perspective is to undertunic Direction they knew to take you'll notice a lot of our 1.0 fourstar units are pretty strong and remain strong to this day partially because it's possible mihoyo didn't necessarily know how to tune their characters and partially because mihoyo keeps doing my favorites dirty if they create a strong unit it's somewhat difficult to uncreate them and it limits their design choices for future units avoiding power creep is kind of tough the good news is aloy has no constellations so if they ever decide to go back and make her relevant they could add a lot of power there the bad news is I don't think they will I'm sorry to the two aloy Ms out there the next comment I see popping up a lot Tai haou is genin producer apparently when he left hon Kai impact it became more generous so I guess the assumption is if he leaves genin genin will become more generous I'm skeptical of this for a number of reasons a game as big as genjin probably doesn't have all of its rewards dictated by one person I imagine they have have a team of nerds trying to figure out the optimal freebies they can give without setting a president and hurting their future revenue of course I don't know for sure but the other thing is apparently he's left genin as of about 7 months ago I don't know about you but I don't think I feel the generosity so this comment I'm kind of going to nitpick but I did want to bring it up cuz it opened my mind to another flaw in my analysis I'm not going to read out the whole thing but I never said you couldn't Brute Force content I mentioned how having a variety of characters can benefit someone tackling several forms of endgame and I noticed you didn't mention pure fiction but you get it pass because Zila and jingen are good for both of them regarding this next bit you have taser freeze and Hyper Bloom teams swap them and use shling she's literally free I play gacha games too I get it I don't like using my brain either I kind of feel like you heard what you wanted to hear and ignored the rest I mentioned you'll have the occasional hard counter unless you're playing a freeze team you don't generally get that occasional hard counter twice in the same Abyss phase and the existence of bad matchups doesn't negate the point I was trying to make if you have two well-invested teams in genin you can often bully your way through spiral Abyss assuming you know better than to use a Taser team against the Thunder manifestation if you have two well-invested teams in Star rail you can also bully your way through memory of chaos as a Jingo player I know as a Jingo player I also know she doesn't feel optimal for Pure fiction she works there and it's enough to clear but I've had better success in pure fiction building Hera a unit I normally would have never touched had pure fiction not been a thing but the entire reason I bring this up is because genin's early spiral Abyss phases when the game was still new were a lot easier than they are now it's pretty apparent that star rail is following the same kind of Direction Where memory of chaos and pure fiction will continue continue to be buffed patch over patch buffing spiral Abyss memory of chaos and pure fiction make sense since a player's investment over time will only continue to grow in genin's case I was able to clear spirro liys pretty early on and while I struggled at the start it only grew easier despite spiralis enemies receiving stat bumps along the way this is partially due to equipment investment constellations acred over time and the appearance of new team archetypes as more characters and sometimes elements get released in my analysis I claim that having a larger variety of characters could be beneficial and while I still mostly find that to be the case I can see situations where if you continue to invest your favorite mains you could get to a point where they can do it all and you won't see any significant benefit from diversifying your roster however depending on how Miya wants to scale future memory of chaos and pure fiction Cycles it could also go the other way all of my adventurine having buddies can't stop laughing at my adventuring lless ass and saying how he's so much better than their other sustain options I also understand that this memory of cash Cycle's boss doesn't really pull his punches but on the topic of dropping fat sacks let's talk cash I don't generally like talking about money cuz it reminds me that I'm broke I didn't mention it in my original video because if the solution to it problem was as simple as throwing money at it mihoyo could probably do it thousands of times over I don't think money is their limiting factor there are other limited resources most notably people and time genin maintains a relatively aggressive patch cycle every 40 days or so we get new story new events new characters and sometimes new regions that's a lot of new things if you want quality of life updates or new endgame content it's unfortunately not as simple as throw more money at it if you pay someone to change a light bulb they could do it in a minute or two if you pay 20 people to change a light bulb it'll still probably get done in about a a minute it's a super simplified example but the idea is that having too many people work on one thing at once can cause more complications than actually speed up the process and eventually you hit a saturation point where having a larger team just ends up having Idle Hands instead of advancing the project if mioya was Hasty in their project pipelines there's a pretty decent chance that something they Implement might literally be game-breaking I've played live service games in the past where there were exploits so severe or bgs so devastating that servers had to be rolled back and that's a generally pretty bad customer experience and speaking of customer experience and money mihoyo does make some pretty odd decisions if mihoyo cares about profit so much explain the DIA situation I admittedly don't have a great answer for this powery units are kind of tricky to balance because vaporize and melt are inherently strong reactions no matter which way you try to do them if they make de a good pyro trigger so strong reverse Vapes or forward melts people will be happy because she does a lot of damage if she's a good pyro applicator people will be happy because they can use another unit and get strong reverse melts or forward Vapes then the question becomes why not just let people be happy the answer to which is you're not supposed to be happy the phrase is losing your 50/50 you're supposed to feel kind of bad when you lose your rateup unit and this disappointment drives some people to spend money on topups so they can get their guarantee which they now know they have the question that naturally follows is why not make her a good limited unit instead of putting her in standard Banner jail I don't know my best guess is they had an idea for future units that Dia would be able to complement well if we look at our current sustaining pyro options we have three shielders in toma senen and Yen at Consolation 4 then we have two healers in the form of Bennett and chevis chev's heals are not overly impressive and she locks you into Electro and Pyro parties Bennett has no pyro application when he's off field except to yourself Yen's Shield is strong but she also lacks off field py application senan has off field power app as long as your Shield is up but if the shield breaks you lose it Toma has a pretty good Shield that refreshes itself without him being the active character but it requires normal attacks if you look at a character like nuet he can't really take advantage of some of their strengths that well the ones where he can simply appreciate the shield work perfectly fine especially if he doesn't need any off field pyro but maybe particularly aggressive enemies rip your Shield apart like rice paper then your utility is lost under this admittedly specific circumstance Dia is actually a pretty good defensive option for him with ar Lino on the horizon DIA has another potential buddy AR Lino cannot be healed by external sources so if you're having survivability problems your choices are to build AR and use her burst bring a shielder or get good bozo I'm going to shamelessly self-promote for a second and say I made an arlino video that compares sucros to kazua but I'm also going to self-sabotage and say don't bother watching it the tldw is use a shielder AR Lino's highest theoretical output uses effectively no sustaining units since Bennett doesn't heal in this team I can see some people really enjoying this play style I can see most people maling our Lino does have some extra bulk built into a kit but not having a Healer when your onfield unit likes having an 8 to 10c window of unab bonga can be a little risky especially when you're self infused with pyro and enemies can Vape or melt you at that point your options are give up Bennett for a pyro shielder give up y line for Singo or give up your VV shred for a wall like Jong Lee Singo and jungi are often desired for a lot of different teams if one of them is tagged into your Nave Rave they've been stolen from from the other side but guess who isn't in high demand let's get it on or hardly demand at all and also frees up Bennett giving a Bennett is a huge drop in attack but you could do it slotting in any of the other shielders can work with varying levels of efficiency but Diaz power application is generally not frequent enough to steal vaporizes like toas can she's not reliant on using her burst from a pure utility perspective and you don't have to worry about Dia Shield breaking because it's not a shield it's a buff with the duration that being said these are very specific use cases for Dia and they're few and far between so the only other thing I can think of behind her design philosophy was to fill a hole in the standard Banner it's still kind of weird we don't have a festar Geo unit in there but ignoring that we have characters that are designed like DPS units we have a character designed for debuffing we have two focused on healing but prior to DIA we had no one that could provide resistance Interruption now we do the video is getting kind of long and my attention span doesn't have the Ascension materials to support this length so the last topic I want to cover is this I don't mean to say I told you so but as a gacha player I love free things speaking of free things if you want to give me ideas or topics to cover in future videos let me know I try to read all of the comments but if I missed yours don't feel bad it wasn't on purpose probably I will try to answer your comments to the best of my ability but if I find particularly good questions or something that changes my opinion I may bring it up in a future video if I think
