Genesis GV60 First Drive – Sorry Hyundai IONIQ 5 and Kia EV6!

hi guys welcome to asian petraeus today is another exciting day because we get to show you the first drive of the genesis gv60 we only have two hours but we're gonna try to show you how this guy feels on the road and this we also have a boost button right here because this is the performance model so it's going to be fun today oh my god stay tuned guys [Applause] [Music] [Applause] and before we start actually showing you how this guy drives let me just tell you a little bit about the interior you actually don't need to have any key to drive this genesis gv60 i mean as long as it is yours right because there's a face recognition on the b-pillar and also fingerprint right here inside which will allow you to build turn on the car and drive the car nice next i love to show you about the crystal spear and sometimes because electric cars is so quiet it is hard to know whether the car is ready to leave or not but genesis has solved that problem 100 with this crystal spear because when it is not ready it just gives you this beautiful looking crystal sphere and when it is ready it just turns around and gives you this dial which is very i think a very effective way to tell the driver that i am ready and it's very easy to use press the top one to go to parking reverse neutral and drive so i think it's a very easy and simple way to tell the driver so guys do let me know how do you like it in the comment section and when you're all down it just gives you this good looking crystal spear so i really like it so let's continue driving nice okay let's do talk about the numbers for a second dimensions wise this genesis gv60 has the shortest length compared to hyundai ioniq 5 and kia ev6 it shares the same whole base with kia ev6 but it is about 1.2 inches taller compared to kia ev6 all genesis gv60s do come with 77.4 kilowatts hour battery and our tester is the performance model so we have the dual motor system producing about 605 newton meters of torque normally and when you do push this boost button for 10 seconds it's gonna boost up the torque all the way up to 700 newton meters so let me just demonstrate i just pressed it oh my god so yeah compared to uh hyundai ioniq 5 and kia ev6 dual motor system this is really another level so i mean there we go 10 seconds wow so i cannot really wait to compare this performance model compared to hyundai ioniq 5 and and kia ev6 gt addictive one more time oh god so yeah it's work losing warning yeah it is very uh different another level wow okay we have some curves ahead so let's check out the handling capability wow taking very nicely it just leaps forward and great balance with the battery on the bottom and we also have a el cd which seems to be working very nicely wow it just it's hard to even pop the tires it's very nicely handling nice let's try one more time later on stay tuned guys and genesis gv60s also come with active sound design not really my favorite but let me just let you enjoy it it can certainly turn it off could have it in smallest moderates oh strongest for demonstration purposes let's leave it in strongest and let you hear the east different sound this is futuristic so this is g continue talking about genesis gv60 let's talk about visibility visibility is very nice in here we have large windows around we also have a distal side mirrors great graphics and large head-up display on the top showing various information such as whether there's a car on your blind spots or not left and right and we also have a blind spot alert system and also a monitoring system which will greatly help you during your lane changes so yeah it is very pleasant place to be actually fun place to be and some of you guys are worried about the interior space because there's battery on the bottom but you should not worry i'm about six two there's good amount of headroom and leg room is too much for me look so no worries should be fine can i make a u-turn here all right guys we have arrived to the turning point let me just show you a few different colors uh not under the sunlight it's a foggy day uh this is my preschool some sort of uh titanium gray looks pretty good and this one it's a very nice color too uh it's a matte but titanium grey so i think both are looking very nice uh we have a white one here looks very clean in white and this is controversial yellow color many of you guys didn't like it in the uh when we send it through the photo but uh yeah looks pretty good so guys do let me know i wish we had a little bit more car but because of the kovit uh they're just we're doing this in small group okay let me also show you the front a little bit you open it like that and it also has a clamshell type hood just like hyundai ioniq 5 and key iev6 and says genesis right here but because this has a dual motor system it's not big they also give you a net so i think you can put like charging cables your running shoes stuff like that okay genesis logo and let me just show you uh the face recognition system working let me just briefly take out take off my mask right there but because the key of the the the key is on is it's not working but let me just try one more time turn off the car you need to uh press right here and it's gonna go so it's locked and unlocked so very simple and easy way trunk of course it's power lifted it's padded nicer yeah some of you mentioned about the plastic it's a little bit disappointing but other places are nicely padded also give you a v12 charger and some storage area and cover too all right [Music] and also uh that's my kota do uh seat leather and very sexy yellow piping um looks pretty good bang and wolf sound we're gonna show you let you hear it pretty soon that's what this door side mirror looks like it also folds when you lock the car see it falls like that pretty nice and some of you mentioned about the lack of crest grille yes i really think i wish we had one in the middle because it has become the part of the genesis brand now but it's not there because this is all electric vehicle that does not need large opening in the middle we have some openings in the bottom on the bottom with active girl shutter but it's just too low for the genesis grille so yeah it's a little bit disappointing but you know this is all electric car okay now let's get back on the road and show you how this car handles and drives a little bit more okay so anything new for the genesis gv60 something that hyundai ioniq five and kia ev6 does not have well we told you about the better performance with the booster button and also elsd the genesis gv60 also comes with the preview adaptive suspension and active noise cancellation system so let's go check those two things out good distal side mirrors passing power excellent i was going to show you the genesis gv60 going over bombs but there's just no speed bombs in this area but let me just show you the preview adaptive suspension working in action the front camera is supposed to read the road ahead and adjust the damping rate automatically to maintain the smooth ride and yeah not whole lot much but this genesis gv60 definitely has smoother ride really hope to show you how it handles pretty soon all done guys nice and just like on the ionic 5 and kia ev6 we're also given paddle shifters these are not to change the gears but to actually change the intensity of the regen braking you can choose among level 0 1 2 3 and i pedal so yes in theory you can drive the genesis gv60 using just one paddle right now we're driving on the highway and the genesis gv60 feels quite nicely isolated you know kia ev6 only has double laminated windows for the first row passengers hyundai irony 5 for both first and second row passengers but even compared to hyundai ioniq 5 genesis gv60 feels more nicely isolated probably because we have the active noise cancellation system that's a very quiet place to be okay we have some curves ahead so let's do check out the handling capability just full quickly oh my god elsd all drive system and es and everything is just making this car turn um really can feel the elsd working very actively so i mean i think i have to uh spend some more time around corners but i think it's safe to say this genesis gv60 handles the best among the three compared to hyundai ioniq 5 and kia ev6 very interesting ev car yeah poof it just leaps forward it's just so much power to pull you out of corners it's it's so fun and addictive and the boost button too yeah and i did not know but you can actually put the whole augmented reality turn-by-turn direction right here so pretty interesting okay now let me just put the boost on and let me just show you genesis gv60 feels very stable even on very very high speed good brakes good brakes and even on very high speeds it's very nicely isolated too feels stable though wow almost forgot to tell you about the range but in terms of the range kia ev6 has the best range out of three we also have 17 speaker sound system by bang and wolfson so let me just let you enjoy it [Music] yes i think it definitely sounds better than the crow or bose sound system yes we have a large pyramid roof on the top that does not open just like on the iron x5 so guys do let me know which one is your favorite regular one that opens just like eiu v6 or large one that does not open and genesis gv60 also comes with adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality so it will come to a full stop if the lead car does and if the lead car departs within five seconds it will automatically follow if not then you have to use the pedal or use the switch to re-engage so it will do most of the work for you during rush hours my favorite part all right guys this has been our i’m researching cars for my parents, and they asked when genesis’ first ev would be coming out - looks like we have some hands on video now. looks promising!

i think the live feed digital side mirrors are weird - no need for this, but i like the “boost” button. tickles my childhood fast and the furious memories.

i still think the styling is the weakest of genesis’ current lineup but seeing it in video makes it less jarring.

Meh, I really don’t like the exterior. I’d honestly say it looks worse than the Model Y.

The car is full of too many gimmicks like the shifter, the camera mirrors and the door handles. The camera mirrors are not legal in the United States though.

This car is IT. I placed an order for a Tesla Model Y and as soon as this was announced, I canceled my order for the Tesla. As a female driver with a toddler, I want a car that not only looks/feels luxurious, but is also reliable, safe, and has good range. This car beats all other competitors out there at the moment. The front end wasn't my favorite choice, but in white/coper it actually looks really nice! The rest of the car is flawless 😍. Definitely excited to place my order once it's open here in Canada.
