the gbz is about ready to have its first engine run in years thermos just decided he might want to fly it again so we're getting it ready for him we're will about after lunch we run this afternoon you [Music] g/b was a trial and error thing for me didn't really understand the injection carburetor but I think we've got to figure it out now slightly different to the more traditional Bendix carburetor on the 985 front Whitney but yeah once I work out how to get it going it was great and just nice and smooth typical 985 oil pressure was good mag checks for good idles nicely it's clean problems working fine and I think it's ok quite happy who ran great it was doing fine fun that feels great yeah when the is the campi around yeah this interesting on this airplane here they actually see it's got the little thing for the compass adjustment and then the data plate and when you fold them back that's where we have the radio and the transponder so we try and hide everything if it's not original they didn't have radios back then so anyway let me go check it out I bought the airplane put it on display here in 1999 and I've developed the whole set of characters around gbz I got one of my little cartoon hats on I wrote a book called all of life as a school the character is basically hang out of fantasy if light push their boundaries reach beyond themselves and tell the great stories of the Golden Age of aviation Thanks yeah good all that that support from my back works great that's perfect that drops me down a little bit puts my legs for it I can get the rudder pills pretty good so yeah yeah okay so other than that I mean I can live with the tailwheel thing yeah if there's a way though okay all right good deal so all I need to fly it is that helped a little bit taxing around because it's it's cleaning up the windshields not getting so oily we just need the radios the headset I have not flown this airplane in 13 years getting ready to potentially ass or flying the airplane again the guys have gone through an extensive annual on it fixed a lot of little things we've got a little fabric problem we won't need to touch up but just taxing it around kind of got the feel of being back in the airplane again I needed to adjust the that we've since got some new parachutes and I needed a little bit of a lumbar support so anyway we're kind of getting ready to potentially get it flying again so well I'm looking forward to it you hi this is Kermit weeks owner this accurate reproduction of the gbz city of Springfield the airplane was commissioned to be built by Jeff Iker of Orlando Florida and was built by Kevin Kimball Delmar Benjamin did the first twelve test flights including stalls limited aerobatic and speeds up to 260 miles an hour I acquired the aircraft in 1998 to represent the Golden Age of air racing at my Central Florida fantasy of life aviation attraction this is my first flight of two that I have made in the aircraft [Applause] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] that's it just big piece of history you [Music] you
