Gameplay review of The Sims 4 Werewolves

this pack is not in the ea great game guarantee which means ea themselves cannot guarantee that this pack is great the pack comes with eight different hair styles for women excluding the unique meshes it only comes with five brand new hairstyles for men there are three different styles but these are all applied to female 2 so in other words there are zero exclusively male hair styles in this pack female sims have 12 different tops whereas male sims have 10 different kinds of tops women have seven different kinds of bottoms and men have four different kinds of bottoms for full body women have six different unique outfits and men have two different outfits however in my opinion these are basically the female meshes applied onto the men clearly this is not very masculine to me in my opinion for shoes we have three different pairs and these pairs apply to both men and women so they're exactly the same we also have a lot of miscellaneous scarring for human sims too the general style of the pack is very grungy it's not aesthetic we've got a lot of ripped things which are kind of like it's a great theme that we've never really had before i just wish that there were a lot more options for men a lot of the cass assets are mostly gender neutral which i know some people like i kind of wish there were more exclusive masculine things because we have a lot of exclusive feminine things and also some things are labeled as masculine but seem to be very much feminine in my opinion i definitely would have liked to have some more male styles especially seeing that this is quite a grungy pack i would have expected to see more kind of rough and ready masculine hairstyles seeing that this is a very masculine vibe the pack comes with one main werewolf unlocked aspiration which leads onto four more unique aspirations the pack comes with zero new traits and it comes with zero likes and dislikes no surprise there despite having more arguably masculine and grungy vibe so the packet actually has more female caster male cast although no surprise there the sims team always favor females over males when it comes to cast compared to other game packs werewolves has more cast items on paper but a lot of those cast items are scarring and things so they're not really unique items in general i'd say it has a roughly the same amount of cast as any other game pack of course there's a special cast mode for werewolves there are various different body types however we don't have body sliders in the same way as human sims however if i make my human seem very big the werewolf also becomes very big and if i make her very very small she also becomes smaller so the way your sim looks does affect them as a werewolf there are different color coats we have set ones which are presets you can choose from a variety of different ones and you can also really easily just change the colors to your liking and you can even change them using a color wheel if you do so wish and using different paintbrush tools to paint your werewolf if you kind of want to paint it but you're quite lazy too we have different patterns that you can apply there are also stencils that you can use as well to stencil in a werewolf design if you can't be bothered to do the whole thing yourself it's nice that we do have the option it is a very complex and great system there isn't much difference between male and female werewolves i'm switching between them both now and it's very difficult to tell which is which which is a little bit surprising for me if i'm being honest i must say the general werewolf appearance is very very strange you can't deny that they look more feline than canine the whales almost remind me of rory the tiger from frosty's defrosties exist outside of the uk or is it a british thing in general it just has a very tigerish appearance some people have compared them to furries which i totally agree with i also find it strange that the bottom half of the bodies are kind of skinny whereas the top half the bodies are more big and bushy it seems very unbalanced and i almost wish they had hind legs or if they had even just a little bit of a bigger tail or just a slightly more vicious look to make them look like werewolves such as having big fangs coming out their teeth i like that the sim scene gave them a more cartoony light-hearted look because that fits in with the vibe of the sims 4. i just wish they tried harder to actually make them look like werewolves instead of cats interestingly werewolves can basically wear any outfit i actually think it's hilarious the majority of items that you put on the werewolves do look quite funny but like funny in a good way if you find that kind of stuff amusing like you can do it on your sims absolutely fabulous the build pie for this pack is actually really really great going on with the grungy theme it really really does look like a crack den if i could describe it in any other better way i don't know but that's the vibe it gives off it's a really really strong coherent theme if you're an aesthetic builder a pretty builder this pack probably isn't for you but if you like making really really creative grungy looking builds this pack is amazing a lot of the stuff here is very much unique and doesn't resemble many things that we have in the base game or any other pack so it is very unique it comes with this cool little bar thing which is functional your sims can walk in it and you can attach a custom bar to it here but i assume you can put other stuff in it as well we have a magic tunnel entrance which basically allows you to take a shortcut around the world we also have this door which is a werewolves only door in terms of cross-path compatibility i wish they also added a similar door for vampires and spellcasters i hope a modder does it soon but in general the build by is actually really really strong in this pack it has a really really great theme when compared to other game packs werewolf seems to be at the lower end of the amount of build by items but honestly i wouldn't let that put you off purchasing the pack if you do like build buy because i do think it is quite a good pack for build buy solely based on the fact that it has a really really strong theme and a lot of the items are really creative the world itself has five separate lots the builds in the lots themselves by the way are actually built really really nicely they're not ugly like some other ea builds one of the main community areas in this pack is this bar area here where a lot of different occult seem to go and you can meet up with other werewolves there's a secret underground bunker in this area once you go underground it leads you into this warehouse area that's exclusive to werewolves it's a nice community space if you befriend a lot of the other werewolves you can of course gather down here i think it's an interesting concept the pack also comes with a very small library it also has a gym in the library itself the world is actually incredibly detailed looking it's a really really beautiful world all of the sims 4 worlds are very beautiful the world also comes with a lot of secret tunnel entrances such as this one here when your sim goes through they go through various different pop-ups the pop-ups tell you what's happening in the tunnel sometimes you can find different collectibles for example my sim found a trash pearl isn't that lovely a pile of trash all of the tunnels are linked and they can use them as shortcuts to go around the different areas in the world we also have this giant mountain up here your sims can get up there by walking through the door there's nothing up here other than one singular bush called a moon petal bush and it's not a proper lot so you can't use bilbaye on this hill there is a humongous lake in this world i'm actually really surprised because we don't really have anything like this in the sims 4. it's nice that you can swim all of the way around we also have a hidden lot in this world it's a little shack owned by a certain werewolf you can investigate it i'm not going to go into it here because i don't want to spoil the surprise of it but it's a nice little secret area we don't have many quirky secrets like this in the sims 4 so it's really really nice oh my god my sim is swimming through the ground oh my god is the game glitching just as i was trying to do a review well here we go guys we've got a glitch section my sim is swimming in the grass which is literally lovely literally hilarious my slim is just casually swimming through the ground i feel like this was not an intended feature of the pack the world has some quirky things so you can see this tree here when we click on it it just says focus camera on pack leader if you are the pack leader as i've just cheated them into my household you can click on it and you can have different interactions with it so we can decorate it as either intimidating or normal when we make it intimidating it has a much more grungy ugly look which i think is quite interesting you can use it as a restroom or to wash up and you can call pack mates to the hangout as a pack leader or you can check on the pack resources in here and you can take some things out the resource list you can see this little area here too is owned by the other pack leader by adding this guy to my household we can basically do the exact same thing with this area i can change this little thing to a more friendly look i think it's an interesting touch in order to get to that stage you have to be a pack leader so it's nice that they've added some progression although the world itself is very big and beautiful just like all other worlds in the sims 4 it has no substance we've got all these big beautiful areas here but you cannot actually visit it or interact with it the world has a lot of stuff but sadly and not a lot of it is interactable but that's not necessarily a problem but more so a sims 4 problem in general if you do buy packs just because you like the world for whatever reason like it is a really beautiful world the gameplay itself gives you a loose tutorial of how to become a werewolf using the aspiration once your sim is a werewolf they have various different interactions they have pack interactions which relate to pack hierarchy and disciplining them and things depending on your level i think it's really cool if you are a pack leader you have a lot of power which is interesting you can also do things like sparring with them or challenging them to a tug of war it's such a random thing but it's really really nice that they've given you unique ways to interact with werewolves because we don't really have that many unique interactions between the different occults werewolf seems to have bridged the gap there which is really really great the werewolves don't have any special needs but they do have something called temperament which are basically like personality traits all of these temperaments relate mostly to their fury level which is a gauge here once that gauge is filled they transform into a werewolf and go into fury mode where you cannot control them and they run wild and they have no interactions you just gotta let them do what they want to do the werewolves have different abilities in order to get these abilities you need to purchase them using ability points you can gain the ability points by using certain wealth interactions you also unlock them by leveling up in the different ranks of a werewolf pack the abilities all do various different things there's so many to go through and it's really really great that the sims team have put in a really really unique and complex system for werewolves abilities because that way not every werewolf is the same they all have unique traits there are also dormant abilities which you can unlock by doing certain special things the most notable one is transformation mastery which allows you to transform between werewolf and human sim at will not only that we also have more uniqueness in terms of pack values each werewolf pack has a different set of values the wild fangs pack has pack participation expand and explore and self-improvement doing things relating to these packed values will help you level up your rank in the pack and also just generally affect the way the packs interact with each other unfortunately you can't change the pack values which i kind of wish you could if you were a pack leader because that way you could customize the game more right now we have two packs the wild fangs and we have the moonwood collective the wild fangs being more rough and ready whereas the moonwood collective being like the woke the gen z woke snowflake generation pack i think it's quite interesting that the packs having two different kind of behaviors but i just wish you could change them up or even create your own unique pack the journey from human sim to werewolf sim is actually really really interesting because you start off with no abilities and it's really difficult to control your werewolves but as time goes on you gain more abilities you can control your fury better it's much more enjoyable the sims 4 rarely ever has progression and it's really great that the werewolf pack actually has progression unlike other sims 4 packs a werewolf's pack does come with storylines and lore in order to find out this information you have to do things like read some of the werewolf books when you do you get pop-ups with information and clues hinting towards the story lines it's nice that they've added storyline and law into the game because we haven't had any in previous sims packs it's just a shame that it comes in the form of text because i play a game to play not play a game to read i don't want to have to read a story i would rather have them tell a story but i feel like that's a sims problem in general and that it doesn't have cut scenes or cinematics so i think it's difficult for them to tell stories but i'm glad they tried to add law if you're interested in that in terms of cross patch compatibility starting off with get together you can create a werewolf only club in terms of club activities there doesn't seem to be anything unique for werewolves which is a big shame vampires have used vampire powers one aliens have an alien powers one drink plasma cast spells use cauldron there seems to be activities for the occult other than werewolves and it's a real shame that they didn't add any werewolf specific interactions to get together especially seeing that werewolves interact together as packs you would have expected them to have a club like that which is disappointing we don't seem to have any new events and we don't seem to have any new holiday activities if you do have the seasons pack even though werewolves are basically dogs there's no special interaction with dogs or pets in general which is really surprising to me the werewolves have a special interaction with vampires called supernatural smackdown there's actually a lot of lore and storyline and complexity with regards to werewolves and the other occults it's really really nice that the sims team put that in there but there only seems to be really special interactions with vampires i personally actually would have liked to have seen more cross-path compatibility with werewolves and other occults if you don't want your werewolves showing up in other worlds you can limit werewolves to moonwood mill only in that sense non-active households will only ever stay in the werewolf world if they are werewolves i think it's really really great i really wish they updated the same for vampires too the only annoying thing is we can't do the opposite which is prevent tammanies from other neighborhoods coming to moonwood mail in the lead up to the release of the pack they advertise it is this secret world that nobody knows about but when you go into the world it's full of townies from other worlds and it just breaks the immersion so much the sims 4 is a very glitchy game and i feel like this review needs a bugs and glitches section as you saw earlier in the video my sim was swimming through the ground other simmers have encountered an era in which their werewolf sim has literally just completely disappeared and their head was missing the sims team said that they did apparently patch this out so it should be okay now i haven't seen any recent reports of it every single time i played this pack i haven't encountered anything gang breaking or major there was one point in which the temperaments didn't show up properly and i had to leave the game and come back to make it show up there was also a point in my previous let's play where the mosaic blur didn't work and you could see my sims literal ass crack but there was nothing that was really really game breaking or annoying i actually think this is a really strong pack if you like a cult this is definitely a great pack to enjoy i 100 recommend getting the pack if you like colts if you're one of those people that just plays the sims 4 to build it comes with some cool build buy but you can only use it for very specific builds and i don't know if i would recommend buying an entire game pack just for that but if for whatever reason you want to make a crack den go for it if you like this game just for the cast i do not recommend buying this pack i don't feel like there was enough cass and of the casa is there a lot of it is very gender neutral which i know a lot of people like for me personally i would have liked some more masculine stuff as opposed to just gender neutral and feminine the cross path compatibility is all right it's not good enough in my opinion there should have been more but at least we have some the simpson did try in recent years game packs for the sims 4 have been incredibly bad the last two packs being my wedding stories and dream home decorator will literally crap i hated them both i'm really really glad that the sims team would put effort into this pack they always put more effort into a colts it seems on a very personal note i actually love this pack i probably will play with it a lot just because i think it's really interesting the gameplay is incredibly in-depth the sims team seem to have really taken on a lot of criticism about the gameplay and applied it into this pack to make it better and i really really appreciate that and i really hope they do that going forward with all packs if you do have any questions about the gameplay let me know down below
