Galveston JETTY Fishing in the Aluminum Boat!! + Catch and Cook!

that's a good fish yep that's a good fish yep that is a good fish that is a good one whatever it is an ocean okay i dreamed that no [Music] so welcome back to another episode of cake and fishing uh as you can see there's absolutely no land behind me and that's because i took the aluminum boat out to the jetties yeah super stoked it's uh the winds are out of the north northeast right now so the actual surf side of the south jetty is super calm as you can see i'm standing here no problems at all and man it is a heck of a beautiful day a bunch of boats out bunch of people a bunch of people catching stuff uh of course i'm not using live bait that's okay i brought some spoons and i've got a heavier duty rod in case i hook in to a big old red a big old jack or something of good size i really would like to catch some trout today let's go fish oh and don't forget i brought the doggo don't worry guys he's got water and he's got a little shade spot we'll be good we're not gonna be out here for a long time are we yeah cause then we're gonna go to a beach in a little bit and chill out but first we gotta fish right brad yeah of course all right let's get out the old rods all right here we go guys an old good medium heavy you got to keep your rods protected you know it's always it's always good to wear protection for your rod we got a good old iowa tatula nice 40 pound braid medium heavy seven foot rod this is gonna be awesome for these bigger fish and let's get a lure out there man i'm excited i'm excited to see what's out there i'm gonna start off with this uh white spoon kind of interesting i'm just gonna give it a shot throw it around of course i'm gonna change to a silver or a gold one but man this water clarity is awesome check that out look at that clarity look at that clarity yeah it's good stuff right here give it a little whirl i think i already had a hit on it honestly so i'm currently in 24 foot of water pretty nice being out here because even though i'm in 24 foot i don't have to anchor out i can just use the trolling motor which is always well appreciated which is always oh i just got cut off yep i just got cut off that was a spanish mackerel probably yep straight up just cut me off all right guys tied another spoon on it's a silver spoon because i lost the interesting white one kind of sucks that i lost it that quick because that was the second cast that i took of the day but it's all right there we go got him that time you come off no he's still on oh damn ladyfish okay there we go i hooked into a fish that's cool it's weird fishing with this medium heavy rod man there we go oh fish on okay this is pretty good one did you spit it again you did geez that's aggravating what's what's up with this what's up oh hook's bent out well that'll do it that will cause you to lose fish there we go got them that time another lady that's fine i don't want to keep those hooked all right all right lady fish ladyfish are going after this spoon i guess that's why i'm getting like little dinks that was a thump there we go what the heck all right fish keep coming off of this guy it's time to change there we go let me check these hooks hooks look good they're small but they're good you got that one there we go another lady fish geez these lady fish are tearing me up but all good dude this is fun hooking into some fish but usually if you're way out here and you're catching ladyfish i'm hoping to hook into a spanish mackerel man that would be absolutely awesome all right well the dog didn't go poop after he ate this morning and he was trying to get off the boat so i'm pretty sure he has to take a poop and the surf is calm enough that i should be able to just go up to the beach and let him out and go to the bathroom so that'll be pretty sweet really had to go because as soon as i put feet on ground he's going to shore what a turd this is a very different adventure i'm used to but if the dog's got a poop which he definitely did i really don't want to poop it on the boat he has done it once before not gonna lie he definitely has but yeah the surf is stupid flat which is awesome so i'm able to just anchor the boat up right there look at him go he has got to go poop oh yeah man talk about just an awesome day just blasting around in the boat on the beach side just walked onto stewart's beach too cool being able to just pull the boat up like that i wish the weather was like this more often because man it is amazing all right and the deed is done he went real fast as soon as we got to land so definitely needed to go oh my gosh look at this beach front this is awesome like he's just going like he knows where he's going i mean i guess he does he knows where the boat's at looking back come on keep up what a goofball man what a goofball it's awesome to have a dog like this just jump on up boy yeah that's what i'm talking about there we go you feel better now brown oh do you feel better you went for a swim and whip poop yep i know i feel better man that little dip in the water felt great so the water is so clear i can actually see that there's a sand bar right here and there's a nice slick on this back side yeah so i'm gonna drop the old trow motor down we're gonna fish it shark check that out guys got some fish action over here there we go that's a good fish there we go nope another lady all right well good good bite good bite so i'm on the jetty i'm in about eight foot now worked my way pretty far in inland closer to the beach you guys saw that i let the dog out so i just came out some more to where i was about eight feet and i'm just going to work this with a spoon i'm hoping for a trout bite man that's what i really want to catch all right guys well i was throwing that spoon and um kept catching ladyfish the battery died i was like alright whatever i threw a couple more times look what i freaking landed oh yeah guys look at this fat girl oh my gosh oh yeah look at this fat girl actually it's a boy he's grunting it is a male trout let's measure him up let's see let's see 20. oh yeah that is a nice surf trout right there yeah dude that's freaking sick got a nice surf trout i am stoked about that man so stoked about it feels good to really land a nice trout it's been a while it's been a good while that's it guys off this silver spoon i'm gonna check these hooks they look good it's first time i've really nailed a trout on a medium heavy rod felt weird it felt like i had a small fish and that was a really good sized fish so well like i said i could be hitting some uh catching some reds off these rocks and so i'm using that heavier rod out here in this water so yeah dude is that just a bunch of mullet okay either way let's make another cast oh came off oh it's still chasing it got him oh had it been a ladyfish i was cranking hard oh yeah oh yeah fish are coming out to bite yes it feels so good feels so good to be catching some fish on the jetty oh yeah that's a fish okay that's a good fish i just took it straight up just took it might be another trout because yep i didn't even have to set the hook it just ate it is another nice trout so what's up bro oh no it's a little red look at this guy fun little red guy fun guy right there little redfish gotta lick him oh yeah gotta kiss the fish oh man i am getting on these fish yes they are loving the silver spoon silver spoons are king in the surf they always have been gold spoons too those are a little more marsh focused but oh man so that's a bunch of ladyfish a nice trout and a little red right there so pretty cool i think i found a nice little spot that they're liking because i was just kind of working up the bank or working up the jetty i guess i should say and then sure enough i just hit that trout and then i've caught another redfish so i don't know if i'm just getting lucky and they're running through here or this is like a little pocket that they really like either way i'm going to fish this for a little bit longer because that was a pretty close back to back on those guys oh oh yep there's one oh yeah oh that's a big lady okay texas tarpon baby god man he just freaking smashed it didn't even have to set the hook or anything absolutely just smashed it all right come on come on nope pretty solid ladyfish catch right there man i love how surffish just freaking smash it they just smash it and because i'm fishing the spoon whenever it's on the fall i can't really really feel them pick it up until they just take off and that's whenever this rod just freaking bends over still getting used to this medium heavy um still gonna use that do i need it in this spot probably not but i do like knowing that i have the extra power in this rod if i hook up to a nice big redfish so i'm going to keep throwing it it feels interesting but i really like diversifying my rod setups there we go i'm pretty sure the ladyfish i mean i never it hadn't jumped yet i was just steady retrieving i don't know that's another nice trout that guy moved ah i lost him let's see if we'll go back for it see if we'll go back for it oh dude i'm about to catch him again oh my gosh [Laughter] catching fish in a barrel right now i'm just dropping it down oh my gosh do you see that that's crazy i think that trout was going for it though and then that ladyfish came back and nailed it that was cool i'm gonna try just the steady retrieve because that trout hit it on the steady instead of the jig so that's an interesting find for sure it wasn't a big trout but it was it was a pretty dang good one man i kind of wish i wouldn't lost it nope lady fish oh my gosh that was a monster trout that thing just dumped it dude i'm gonna try and just bounce it on the bottom a little bit to get the attention of that trout back dang it dude that was a solid trowel it straight up just boom smashed it okay fish on see look at that i just barely started retrieving he smacked it another little oh it's a spanish mackerel heck yeah dude oh man this is some fun stuff right here so i got hung up a second ago and i went up closer to the jetty and i saw that there was a little ledge the rocks kind of come out on and then it drops off after those and i'm pretty sure that's where i'm getting those bigger bites is right on the other side of that ledge only thing is i'm throwing a spoon treble hook so the odds of getting hung up pretty high okay fish on did it come off no he's still on there it is i just let it fall after i got on the back side another little spanish cool they're not keeping size but they're fun as heck to catch man and i brought stuff for fish tacos and i'm gonna be making some fish tacos get out of here bud i'm gonna be making some fish tacos over at palapa island on the way back in i brought the hammock so it'll be a nice little chill time get up in the shade let the dog run around and just enjoy this beautiful weather we're having after some lunch so you guys keep on watching for that because i'm definitely going to do it i've got that trout in there i'm going to cook that dude up fresh i've got him in the live well and he's still alive so it'll be as fresh as you can get that's a good fish yep that's a good fish yep that is a good fish that is a good one whatever it is it's a good one oh manny's tail kicking that's probably a spanish i don't want to let him get me up into the rocks oh yeah see this is why i'm using this heavy reel i mean heavy rod i can't talk oh yeah that's the fish i've been wanting to get oh no it came off ah that was a good fish ah that was a big fish guys that was a big fish i wasn't even running like a red that was running like it was probably a good spanish mackerel or a monster freaking trout it was one of the two man it was one of the two there we go there we go that's a good fish right there oh yeah might be another spanish mackie or a good trout i don't know i just don't want to lose another fish that's for sure yeah i know that's a pretty dang good fish another nice trout i'm boat flipping them oh yeah another nice trout and the hook came out that's what i'm talking about yes dude oh no don't lose them i almost lost this trout but another nice keeper trout going in the live well man this is fun these trout are absolutely smashing the lure and they are freaking strong today man these are obviously some golf trout because they are they're strong strong so measure them up real quick 17 back at it again but that trout i don't know if it was some some ladyfish messing with it but there was like four or five misses and i just kind of slowed it down and kept popping and then boom that trout just ate oh fly bites hurt man oh oh yeah there's another one that's another trout yup geez i was looking down at the fly and then it just ate oh yeah oh yeah it's a fighter i gotta keep my rod loads people are coming in on me it's another solid freaking trout another solid trout going for the boat flip oh yeah dude another nice trout gotta talk quiet cause there's these guys coming in behind me they came in as soon as i hooked it they saw me and they came over but dude that's number three of the day put up a crazy good fight man oh today has been awesome quit quit quit licking the fish quit that's only when i release him you get to give him a good luck kiss when we're eating him you don't get to kiss him okay yep that's another 19 and a half close to 20 in the box guys this fishing action is absolutely insane right now three really good sized trout and i've been in the same spot i really have been i've been in the same spot so just yeah yeah i'm i'm pretty happy about today gotta love it when the gulf is green means you're gonna catch some ting all right i'll stop being weird i'm just you guys know how i get excited so we're just gonna motor up go a little deeper fish for a little while and then probably head around into some inshore spots the wind's starting to pick up out of the south and it's definitely starting to throw a swell and a little chop on the water so before it gets too rough out in the aluminum boat it's about that time for me to go around hey guys so i'm just still heading towards the end but yeah the wind's definitely starting to make some chop out here and i don't want to wait till it gets too big so i'm gonna go ahead head around the jetty and then go back in shore well i have shacked up at palapa island i know i keep coming here often but it's just because it's so nice i have a nice covered area nice beachfront and especially with the wind conditions that are right now it is just glass calm i'm talking i just it's glass like look you that's one of the best things ever it's just calm glassy water and i have got some very nice trout i'm gonna fillet up and cook for lunch me and the dog we're just living our best lives right now we really are i'm gonna go ahead and grab these fish let's fillet them up and then uh probably get to cooking some lunch what are you doing you enjoying this huh all right let's grab the cooler oh yeah it's got all the goods in it got some tacos you guys know fish tacos are one of my favorites and you know there's no better place to eat fish tacos than some fresh fish right on a nice little beach shore and a palapa hut you just it's one of the best things you can do nice little swings got a handy dandy table throw this guy up out of the sun yeah oh look at that boat that's a good looking boat right there oh look how gorgeous this is yeah dude look at the size of these trout catching trout in the surf they fight man they fight so much harder than inshore fish um i'm sure that's just because they're fighting currents they're out in the open ocean and so they have to be stronger they're nice and thick i'm gonna go ahead and play these guys up on this back sponson just so i can rinse it off real easy it's not in the boat and i'm going to take it up and we're going to cook them dude i've got some avocado i've got pico de gallo i've got tortillas cheese everything to make it just absolutely perfect and i'm starting to get a little hungry so let's get in fillet these guys up and get over to cooking this is pretty nice being able to just fillet some fish right here on the back of the boat and as fresh as you can get just caught these guys um it's gonna be some good stuff oh who's that oh well hang on guys i'm gonna continue to play these fish in just a minute what's up got a slab of fillets going right here just man this is too cool and you can go out catch some fish and then immediately cook them fresh and better than that a buddy came out here yeah oh yeah look at all these fillets yeah this is awesome make some delicious lunch boom portable stove top i've got my pan back there some non-stick yeah this is going to be a meal all right so we are at the cooking spot got a nice little butane cooker deal got a pan got some butter got some fish and i got all the fixins to make a delicious fish taco let's get it going oh yeah started up like a champ all right i got the tortillas toasted and it's fish time man time to get these dudes on the griddle we got the fish on nice little sizzle going uh while this is cooking i'm gonna go ahead and prep up the rest of the tortillas throw a little bit of le chugon there and then so all we gotta do is slap them phillips down and they're gonna taste amazing look at those tacos it's time to throw these dudes on there oh lord look at that tacos are ready it's about to grab some lunch time can i kick back digest my food enjoy it the full circle ran out caught them cleaned them cooked them on a tortilla time to eat oh yes give me give me one of these oh my god oh dude you really can't beat that you really can't that is so so good that was an awesome freaking day i'm gonna go ahead and just head back to the house had a full belly i relaxed in the hammock thank you guys for watching another episode of kagan fishing and
