this is the $1,300 Galaxy s24 Ultra the most advanced smartphone we've ever seen from the 200 megapixel camera 100x zoom and the strongest build ever and it's also the brightest display we've ever seen on the phone until the OnePlus 12 that came out just after and right here is the OnePlus 12 for only $800 this phone has a 50 megapixel camera designed with hosel blot it has a bigger battery than the Galaxy charges faster than the Galaxy and some say the operating system is even better than the Galaxy and it also has the brightest display ever I'm Kevin the tech ninja let's compare these two mobile juggernauts to see which one is the best so for me the first thing we need to talk about is the price the s24 ultra is starting at $1,300 they do have offers if you trade in a smartphone and that can definitely bring the price down to something a little bit more affordable the OnePlus 12 on the other hand literally is $800 with $100 off if you trade in any phone even a broken phone but you can also trade in working phones to up to $700 off the OnePlus 12 punches above his weight class and I wanted to see how it compares to arguably the best Android phone series which is the Galaxy S lineup now we have both phones in the hand you'll see that the s24 ultra is wider and it's also more Square whereas the OnePlus 12 is curved which visually speaking looks better when watching content but day to-day I found that the s24 ultra does feel better in my hand and what I find with the squared off design you don't get any accidental touches and it feels more sturdy and also when we you know pull out this s pin it's just a better surface to write on now I don't like to talk about specs too much since to me it's nothing you have to think about when using a device but we can quickly touch on a few things to see how they stack up now both phones are a 6.8 in 120 HZ OLED display they have the same Snapdragon 8 gen 3 trip 12 GB on board for both of these phones but OnePlus has lpddr 5x and s24 Ultra is unspecified 5400 milliamp battery on the OnePlus and 100 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging s24 Ultra has 5,000 Milah battery and 45 wire charging and 15 wat wireless charging the s24 charges 0 to 100 in about an hour compared to the OnePlus 12 that charges from 0 to 100 in around 25 minutes also I'm not sure if you noticed that the OnePlus 12 display looks to be a little bit washed out compared to the Galaxy s24 that's because the galaxy s24 has anti-glare technology built into the display and it's very evident when shooting video and also under any type of harsh lighting you can see the reflection of the camera on here on the OnePlus but you can't see that reflection here on the Galaxy s24 now on paper they're both similar but I do have to give the edge to the OnePlus on many of the specs that truly matter like battery life type of ram charging speed and also price now Samsung does get a lot of flack when it comes to bloated software and a lot of those statements I think are still coming from the TouchWiz days years ago but honestly I love what Samsung is doing with their software and so a lot of these things maybe you don't use them every day but when looking at this from an objective point of view a lot of these settings are useful settings and not just apps that are just on there for the heck of it and also when we dive into to settings there are a lot of customization settings that you really don't find on many other phones like one thing that I absolutely love is The Accidental touch protection since this phone is squared off and not curved anymore you may say it's not needed but it's something that I always turn on because it prevents those Phantom touches Samsung also has an amazing ecosystem that is close to rivaling Apple uh they have watches they have the tablets they have Microsoft Offa integration with with syncing they have smart things and they also even have smart things trackers now Samsung has a a lot of AI stuff baked into this phone and we've talked about it in several videos but I use some of the AI features daily now for me the OnePlus software definitely feels light and clean and there's not a lot of things that are on the surface but when digging a little bit deeper you'll see that there's a lot of settings on this phone just like on the Galaxy I think that some of the stuff is more hidden which for people who will buy a OnePlus phone would know how to get to these things now OnePlus has so many tweaks and also extra software customizations that it really feels like an old school ROM back in the day it feels like custom software that comes on the phone and in my opinion I think OnePlus can take more risk and do more things on a phone because this phone is not truly made for the mass adoption as the Galaxy lineup is I mean come on I love OnePlus but at the end of the day they're not selling as much as an S lineup so I think they could take more risk as far as software now I do find that there's so many new settings that changes with every software update that this phone over the years will definitely feel like a new phone as more software comes down on the lineup I do love both software systems and there is a few things from each one that I love to have but when switching back and forth Samsung does have more of the things that I use and more things that I feel that people would use like average consumers would use and you know some say that it's a gimmick but the AI stuff on board does matter for how I use a phone every single day especially Circle to search and circle to search is one of those things that I think it's extremely cool to have so for example let's say someone took a picture of this pillow and I'm I'm like you know what I really want this pillow so I just come to the bottom here press and hold Circle the pillow and then searches for it and I can see exactly where this pillow was where I can get it from I can see exactly where to go to grab this pillow another example let's say someone took a picture of this mural and you know what I want to see what this mirror looks like I want to see where this miror is actually from same thing I can press and hold at the bottom I can then Circle the mirror and then from here it's going to tell me exactly where this miral is actually at some of those features are really cool cool it makes searching very easy and it gives you more information in your hand let's run some video tests to see how they compare to how the screens are I realize sometimes the camera doesn't capture it so I'm going to do my best to explain it and try to show some examples now if you take a look at the right side here you can definitely see how this display actually gets brighter on this right area it maintains the same color but also gets brighter that's something that I'm seeing between all of these clips I do have to give OnePlus some additional credit because when you go into the color settings you do have a lot more things so you can adjust the color temperature which you can do on Samsung you can also change the temperature granular with a color wheel and also you do have d65 color space now d65 color space is seen as a wide color gut which a lot of professionals would actually prefer so technically the s24 out of the box some would say looks better but the OnePlus 12 you can tweak it to look as good as your heart desires which can actually in turn turn give you a more accurate picture now speaker wise the s24 not only sounds better than the OnePlus 12 but it might as well be the best sounding speaker on any smartphone at the moment OnePlus does get louder but it loses its quality past 85% [Applause] volume gaming on both of these devices are very similar so the difference will be very nuan since they both have the same Hardware I find the s24 again as easier to hold so I will go to my s24 when it's time for gaming and also the speakers are better too OnePlus does have a trick up its sleeve and it has a unique cooling system that has the name you ready for this dual Cairo velocity VC cooling system this is a cooling system that keeps the phone cooler during long gaming sessions for heavy tasks now I'm not the right guy to do any scientific testing regarding this but if you want a game on a phone this could be a game Cher if this is something that you run into with overheating since these chips are so fast now now Samsung also did talk about Cooling in in their setup and they did talk about they expanded the cooling Chambers but the OnePlus does have bigger cooling system bigger Chambers which in turn will give you better results so we got to head over to cameras this is where things can definitely get very interesting now when comparing both cameras OnePlus has made a major leap OnePlus is doing a great job on these photos especially in low light now look at this example and look at the menu on the s24 you can't even make out the word mad when using the 3x zoom on this book that says mad nice the words look better on the OnePlus 2 and overall the scene looks better too when taking a picture of the lobby the pink pulls through on the OnePlus much better than it does on the s24 I will say when taking pictures of people I think the s24 ultra algorithm does a bit better than OnePlus in my opinion here's a picture of Jonathan Casey and this picture came out so good on the OnePlus not so much but when taking so many camera examples there are examples where one phone does better than the other now I will say in daylight both cameras are great but once we pixel peep we can see there's a bit more on the OnePlus 12 that actually beats the s24 ultra in most shots it's definitely shocking to me now the s24 ultra does have more shooting modes and it does have a 100x zoom and also has two dedicated telephoto lenses so as far as flexibility yeah the s24 ultra is going to be better okay here we go front-facing camera walking and talking stabilization test trying to keep me both in frames kind of hard they definitely have different focal lengths right what do you think guys from here it does look like the background is somewhat blurred so there is some separation between me and the background let me get so let me let me know guys what do you think between both of these walking and talking kind of like a stabilization test Galaxy s24 Ultra front-facing camera sample I do have good lighting down here in my basement I actually have a studio light in front of me but I want you want to know what you guys think here in good lighting how does it look and how does it sound OnePlus 12 same scenario I have a studio light pretty much right in front of me and just talking right into the camera let me know how this looks and also let me know how does this sound now we're going to go to low lighting uh I pretty much turned this light off in front of me and now we're just dealing with the ceiling lights let me know how does it look and how does it sound okay we now turned off the studio light and we just have the ceiling lights that are uh behind me and one right in front of me and uh yeah want to know how does it look and how does it sound to you and how do they compare directly s24 Ultra and the OnePlus 12 let let me know the s24 definitely wins when it comes to video when we're looking at color R duplication we're looking at video modes we're looking at stabilization I mean look at this these two shots were done side by side so so there is an advantage on the s24 when it comes to video Even though in some of the shots OnePlus can look better overall the totality of content s24 the OnePlus 12 has a bigger battery which in my testing using the phone daily at night I ended up with around 35 % of battery and with the s24 ultra I ended the day at around 25 to 30% and also you do have that 100 watt fast charging capability and so charging your device is much better this phone actually comes with a charging brick unlike the s24 which does not come with the charging brick OnePlus did a great job with this phone and honestly when factoring prices this is the best phone in 2024 and if this phone came out just a month ago I could actually make the argument that this is the best phone in 2023 OnePlus has always been a fun phone a phone with great performance but when it comes to camera it was always a step back and now that is no longer the case OnePlus can finally say that this is a Flagship killer phone again Samsung released another phone this year that is packed with great specs and it's $300 cheaper than the s24 to learn about Samsung's cheaper and underrated phone check out my full comparison right here on the screen
