all right guys so in this video I'm gonna be discussing the four new stadiums that will be coming to the Big Ten with Washington Oregon USC and UCLA joining the conference in 2024 we're gonna go one at a time through the four stadiums you know is it a good atmosphere is it a large Stadium how worried should you be if your team travels to one of these stadiums also we'll talk the renovations of the stadiums are they old are they new starting with Husky Stadium Husky Stadium which originally opened back all the way in 1920 it was renovated in 1950 1987 and then again in 2013 the renovation in 2013 cost 280 million dollars which is pretty extensive and you can see the location of it very very nice beautiful kind of an older type Vibe with the two Upper Deck tier approach big bigger Stadium it's 2013 renovation was the single biggest Capital project in the University's history and home games were played at Century Link Field home of the Seattle Seahawks when it comes to the design of Husky Stadium it does get very loud and it has been recognized as one of the loudest stadiums in the nation in part it's due to almost 70 percent of the seats being located between the end zones both being covered by metal roofs that trap the sound overall I'll say this is a very solid addition to the Big Ten Conference you've got the stadium very old 1920 but of course like most college football stadiums it has underwent several major Renovations and it is located right on the water if you're a big ten team probably there's going to be some games happening at 10 30 Eastern time if you travel to Washington unless you are kind of a bigger team like Ohio State Michigan or Penn State then you're likely going for a mid-afternoon game maybe like a 4 30 3 30 type game or even 7 30. Michigan State traveled to Husky Stadium last year and it did not go well a lot of that had to do with Michigan State just not being a good team but overall this is certainly a hostile environment and if you do have to travel there preferably you would like a 3 30 game which would make it 12 30 West Coast time that would probably be the best environment if you're traveling there you want to avoid a night game or even a mid-afternoon game next it is atson Stadium which is home of the Oregon Ducks they broke ground on it 57 years ago and it opened in 1967. it was renovated and expanded back in 2002 the renovation cost in 2002 was right around 80 million dollars and there is a plan in and around Stadium to expand it even more with a brand new beautiful Design interior practice facility with a translucent roof to hold nine yards when it comes to Hudson Stadium very very loud very unique design there's really no Upper Deck it's just one giant lower ball one of the sides has a lot more seats than the other but it is kind of a wave pattern going all the way around and you would figure with where Oregon Athletics is at this point the move to the Big Ten possibly more Revenue more marketability we would see some type of Big Time expansion maybe adding another deck even if it's just club seats or Suites to Watson Stadium I would expect maybe a renovation in the coming years if they wanted to do that the location of the stadium is very interesting being located right next to the campus and on some type of a slow pill it's almost like they built the stadium into the side of it makes for a very unique atmosph Fair it does get really loud at Oregon I'm sure many people remember the Marcus Mariota days it's kind of tough to judge some of these stadiums because the Pac-12 they haven't been the best conference recently and a lot of these games happen at like 10 o'clock Eastern time so people don't really know but Oregon is a university on the rise headed to the Big Ten they're going to be playing a lot of big home games versus Michigan versus Ohio State versus Penn State and the atmosphere is going to be absolutely incredible and we'll have to see what they end up doing again a renovation in 2002 where they expanded the seating a bit but there have been hints that there's more Renovations coming to Austin Stadium the next one we're looking at it is the LA Memorial Coliseum which opened with a cape which opened in 1921 with a capacity of 94 000. the capacity has since been lower to around 77k as they have put in some luxury need some exclusive sweet some exclusive sweets they underwent big Renovations in 1995 and 2017. it was actually a three-year process from 2017 to 2019 getting it ready for the potential Olympics that are going to be taking place in Los Angeles in 2028 the renovation which was made by USC cost 315 million dollars back in 2018 where they completely renovated all the seats and made it very impressive I think this is one of the better Renovations more underrated Renovations we've seen in terms of just the seat change they really did a good job of modernizing it and they also have put up temporary stands right behind one of the end zones the LA Memorial Coliseum you know being pretty big they have struggled to sell it out a few times especially the last couple years so that makes kind of a bad Vibe but you can bet USC probably going to be playing some huge games at home imagine a home game against Ohio state that place would be rocking it is kind of a weird dynamic because it's very unlikely USC is ever going to have a big huge home night game really any of these schools because Ohio State East Coast time they're not going to make the fans watch at 10 30 which would be 7 30 Pacific so that's kind of unfortunate but it has gotten several big Renovations recently and it is an impressive and it is an impressive Stadium I would say comparison to Washington and Oregon maybe a step down in terms of atmosphere because of the issue selling it out but either way the LA Memorial Coliseum there you can see the massive capacity changes it's underwent sitting at over 100k in the 40s and now it is down to 77 and a half thousand because they did take a bunch of seating out to put in the Suites and then the final Stadium on the list the final team joining the Big Ten at least right now it is the universe city of UCLA and it is the Rose Bowl which broke ground back in 1922 the construction cost at the time right around 4.76 million dollars that's in 2022 money so very very cheap and when it comes to the Rose Bowl they've done a few things it's gone through some very light Renovations but you would think that they would really modernize this and you know I guess I can kind of understand people saying oh we don't want to take the charm out of it but basically every old stadium is forced to inevitably undergo some type of renovation modernization we've seen it with Fenway we've seen it with Wrigley who you could argue are even more legendary than the Rose Bowl so the idea that the Rose Bowl hasn't received a proper renovation I'm not talking about adding seats or doing anything like that but you just need to maybe put in new more modern seats to Spruce it up a little bit I think that needs to be done it reminds me a lot of the Cotton Bowl game with Texas and Oklahoma and the location of that you would really think there would be some type of renovation to the Rose Bowl but that is where UCLA plays there's the whole recruiting aspect of it you know some players go to UCLA to play at the Rose Bowl but when it comes to the atmosphere clearly between these four schools with the capacity being right around 93 000 UCLA really struggles to draw and they do tarp off some sections sometimes inside the stadium which is not a good look of course it's a beautiful legendary location I've always made the joke that the actual Rose Bowl game it seems like it's almost a different Stadium than where UCLA plays their regular season games I know it's not but if you could kind of understand the vibe of it when UCLA plays their home games it just seems so dead and almost just so old and rotted and then it just comes out and sells out for the Rose Bowl and you've got the Beautiful mountains with the sunset it just feels different I don't know but either way that is where UCLA football plays very surprising really no crazy Renovations there have been a few different renderings I've seen plans some exterior stuff but when it comes to the interior it's relatively the same now as for the Rose Bowl game it will become part of the college football playoff with it expanding to 12 teams I believe it will be a semi-final game or or maybe a yeah semifinal because the quarterfinals are on campus so a semi-final game and so your typical Pac-12 vs Big Ten is over it's over it for a number of reasons the 12 team playoff but also the Pac-12 does not exist anymore and that's why we're talking about the Rose Bowl being a location for UCLA I would say by far if I had to rank the top four in terms of environment I would say Oregon is the toughest place to go to Washington at number two USC at number three and then UCLA and the Rose Bowl at number four that is my opinion on if your team will be traveling to any of these places you go to UCLA you kind of luck out you go to Oregon it's going to be tough but either way those are the four new stadiums coming to the Big Ten they're all very very old three of them have received at least semi-recent Renovations and they all are bigger stadiums so guys that is going to do it for this video make sure you follow me on Twitter link to that's always in the description
