Full Send+Building a 1/2 Mile Backyard Rally Track!

[Music] [Music] so the weather's finally nice out here we've been itching to get out and rally things around so we're gonna start working on the advanced version of our backyard race track uh it's gonna have a lot more jumps a lot more corners more technical sections and it's gonna be probably two or three times as long we'll uh take you around on cindy and the uh four-wheel drive quad here and show you the course and then we'll start working on it and making it an actual course instead of just a track through the trees all right so the new rally course is starting right on our new table top and we're naming all the sections so it's easier for you guys to follow along so corner one we're calling the sawmill corner then we go into the sketchy downhill going around the same loop here the next section we call the steep section which goes into a new jump called the firewood jump and this is where things get new this is the root hill so builds a better suspension will perform much better here then we have the treehouse corner we're going to build some kind of s-bend bank here to get over the big roots you can keep your speed through here and this is called the u turn because it's really sharp u and wii u and the muddy straight for obvious reasons turn six into drone killer alley imagine how many drones i'm gonna rack into these branches then this we're gonna call the tech bit because we're going to end up going more off to the woods in our right once we finish the trail into the isn't straight turn eight right to the road gap where we'll build a giant jump later and here we're calling this the speed bump into the bumpy street it's kind of almost a whoop section and then finally victory corner the last corner on the track that's turn 10 and back over the tabletop [Music] so ethan sunk the skid steer pretty good we'll see if we can get it out [Music] today we're going to complete the new circuit with a huge wooden driveway jump the idea set it up right here coming out of the woods you've seen us jump just off the driveway before in some of our other videos but now we're going to put a big wooden ramp further back so we can keep scooting it back scooting it back as we get better and better at ripping this thing but we also want it to be so you don't have to hit the giant jump so we're going to do is right over there clear out a little spot off to one side where we can build a wooden ramp it makes for an excellent jump over the driveway and then on the left side i'll smooth it out and make it just a smooth ramp over the driveway so that you don't even really have to jump at all you can just go over and kind of around and which will actually set you up better for the next corner of the track so the left side will be for the racers and the right side will be for the fun [Music] havers [Music] so [Music] [Music] well we've got a really pretty landing over there for the first time ever we built a landing for our jump before building the jump so that's good so we'll go back to the shop and start building a jump take a few measurements see how high we think we want it wide tall long all of that [Music] decided we're going to try a hybrid steel and wood ramp so um setting up a tubing roller here which is going to take a minute and then uh we'll start rolling a nice arc [Music] so we're working with limited space here one end goes out the garage and that's all good the other end goes out the back door and coming into some issues here but that might be a steep enough angle for the jump so we're about to measure and find out and we can cut it in half and just roll them separately but you know this is just the easiest way to get the arc pretty similar between the two [Music] [Music] yes [Music] dang it's looking good yeah it's coming together quick it's nice when you uh build something that doesn't have to be precise just has to be strong a lot of what i'm doing here is just because it's metal that we have in the scrap pile that isn't super useful for other stuff like this is galvanized pipe that's fairly thin wall wouldn't use that for anything else uh but it's strong enough for this we've got some one inch angle that you know we use angle occasionally but uh you know perfect for bracing on this and then like the reason this piece here ends there is because that's the length that i had that should do it and the higher up you get the stronger it is perfect and the slipperier it is never built a metal jump before this is uh it's a step up from the pieces of plywood i used as a kid we got the jump frame out here finished it up this morning and um just got to throw some boards on it and then test it out so we've never invited justin over just because we're building a jump it just so happens to work out every single time you've ever come over for the last like two years huh that's so cool and you've tested all of them first too almost i mean okay all the snowboard ones the first time you ever came here was when we were racing the brat versus the tacoma yeah we're ripping around in those we didn't build a jump that day but we did jump yeah you jumped down the hill crazy that was my first time ever riding with you too and i don't know what i got myself into i was like i think it's time to go home [Music] oh i think it's awesome it's a sizable jump i hope it's not too steep what do you think justin you have more experiences with ramps i think it looks perfect all right that didn't sound like 100 confidence [Laughter] [Music] the words were 100 the tone of voice was less so if we set it up in the right spot you think you'd hit it in cindy i have no idea i'd have to hit it on the uh bikes first also right now it is on a little bit of an incline but like the dirt yeah so it's a little steeper than it looks or i mean then it would then it it's natural state and we could always like do that and build a ramp of dirt if we wanted to [Music] so justin has agreed to be our jump guinea pig he's the most experienced rider of us [Music] perfect [Music] so [Music] overshot that one a big [Music] [Music] that first one was a bit spooky that's about as bad as you could have cased it and you were fine but i came up and saw the mark yeah i hit front tire on the case yeah i didn't case it with the case i cased it with the tire oh that was good it boots you what do you think it's a beard yeah shaking a little bit it's been a while since you went that big oh yeah a little bit it's just weird because you don't need like any speed off of it it's just nice and easy and i keep on over compensating and going a little deep but [Music] it's finally time to test out the new track and see how fast it is see what a fast lap time looks like we'll do it first in cindy because you know she's the original and uh she's got a good solid lap time on the old track so we'll make the starting line right at the top of the hill here before the jump and um send it in cindy see what the time is do a couple laps get out the kernel see what lap time that'll do so this is cindy's first lap time on the new lap defense first time doing the whole loop with cindy and the first time we're testing out these new tires oh yeah so so [Music] [Music] [Music] nice those tires grip good they do yeah nice 128. yeah well i i'm sure that it's possible to do it faster in cindy but i don't know that i want to oh this is gonna be so competitive having that long of a track yeah it's way more competitive it changes because you could shave this half second here half second there and it actually means something that's good i like it it's fun it's just uh you know kind of brutal you are in a power wheel at the yeah and i like the new tires on the front um they grip well so the steering's good but that also means that bump steer is worse like just hitting bumps it yanks it around a lot more should we see if the kernel can beat that time yeah i'll give her a shot i'm not as used to the kernel so i might not send it as hard but then again the colonel's got better suspension so you never know foreign oh foreign [Music] so [Music] [Music] so you did it yeah 25.59 125.5 yeah and the suspension is just so incredibly good in compared to compared to cindy like so much better sam's riding cindy and ethan's in the kernel we're gonna do some tandem action and show you guys all the features of the track now that the track's all set up and mint [Music] [Music] remember [Music] it's like being chased through the woods by a giant angry gorilla that's going to kill you if it catches you it's just over sandy you hear this rumbling right behind you and no matter what you do you're not getting away and it's like you're in this really old crappy willy's jeep and you know this thing's just gonna get you every quarter oh man that's fun i've never taken so many bumps in this this uh body panel redid my uh quad a little bit there that thing will rearrange your anatomy so uh some up the problem on this one it's actually fairly comfortable aside from it's got this little lump in the middle of the seat that's supposed to like keep you in the seat well what happens is you just slam your every time i'm stoked it's been a long time before i got to test this out so and i just got out of cinderella so i'll have a great comparison of the difference and this is my favorite feature for sure it's just it's so much better yeah absolutely no contest it's about 300 percent more comfortable the seats got a little bit of room so instead of hitting into stuff you're just sloshing the seat it's so much more the suspension's so much better that instead of me bouncing i only noticed my helmet was loose in my head which is what you want yeah and the drifts are incredible yeah it's great dude it's literally the greatest i had to try out reverse too that was cool usually at some point is you should try reverse 180. i'm not going to try it but dude you should get in the center of this thing all
