what's happening guys back today with another episode of the Mercedes gt63s today's video is about a full breakdown of this series from start to finish especially for the guys who haven't seen part one to part two or even miss some parts I recently purchased this Mercedes gt63 from auction it turned out to be footballer Ashley Yar I mean what are the chances of that being only a 21 play and being well within the warranty period I spoke to Mercedes on why it wasn't covered they told me it was due to driver error which I later found out was a cooling leak which had led to the engine overheating badly it then got sent to auction where I found the car and bought it for £86,000 when it arrived to us at Boost performance we confirmed there was literally no coolant in the bottle and after doing further checks we found the engine had no compression which meant only one thing a full engine strip down is required so sit tight and enjoy the show so let's start right from the beginning when I bought this car so as some of you guys know I own boost performance which is the workshop wearing right now where we do we do tuning we build engines we repair cars and I also have another business Sterling Motor Group where I Source vehicles and sell them I was on BCA and I came across this car Mercedes gt63s I saw it very interestingly as a non-runner and I was shocked to see that it's a 21 plate and the mileage was only on 4,000 what could possibly be wrong the first thing that comes to mind is this is a 21 plate and I bought this car in 20122 at the end so You' think the car's under warranty right so the first thing I did was you know what I thought without doubt I'm buying this car no matter what I'm buying this car that's the first thing second thing I thought it's under warranty so why not try to push it through that way so I rang Mercedes and I asked them I said um I want to book the car in so they said the car has already been to Mercedes and it got rejected and I was like what's the reason for that so they said driver error and uh if you can break it down further they eventually told me the coolant came out what they what they told me was a bit weird they said a stone hit the radiator pipes and the engine blew up that made no sense to me but however I understand what's going on it's a non-runner let's go for it so yeah after that the auction came forth I had in mind to buy the car for about 75k and finnally enough the first bid was about 76k it was provisionally sold the vendors being Mercedes-Benz denied that so we went on for auction again where I bought the car for £86,000 [Music] go g63s is mine finally Enough by the way when the car come here someone messaged me on Instagram saying that this car was actually owned by professional footballer Ashley Young and he's the guy who driving in the motorway when all the cooling started coming out from what I've been told the one did come on the dashboard but he was on the motorway doing about 70 M hour and by the time he pulled up so I'm guessing a lot of coolant came up and remember this is a V8 engine it gets pretty hot so I don't think it took too long for the car to actually overheat and blow the head gaskets up so the first thing we did when the car came was a full compression test on all the cylinders and we straightway found out that three or four cylinders next to no compression and that only meant one thing a full engine strip down is required there you have it guys the V8 twin turbo m177 engine is out of the [Music] gt63s guys don't forget this very car is available for you to win at Boost comps doc. all you have to do is enter the competition answer the questions choose how many entres you want and check out this car is worth £130,000 imagine you win this for only £7.99 the competition ends on the 31st of December so be quick and get your entries now more details at the end of this video so as soon as the engine was removed from the vehicle we straightway crack onon which ripping the engine down this consisted of removing the solar valves timing chains and celeries and then finally the cylinder head once the head was removed we straightway found where the compression was leaking from on the Block as you can see this black black marks show clearly where the compression was leaking from no time wasting for us we straightway got the fer gauge out to check the condition of the block and it turned out that the block itself was fine we went straight back to the cylinder heads to do the same thing and as you can see parts of it were okay but then in the middle near the middle you can see the fing gauge goes straight through where it shouldn't be um this is where we found out that the cylinder heads have warped and need to be sent to the Machine Shop to be skimmed down so off we went to the Machine Shop one week later the cylinder heads were back as you can see we got the block here and we got one of the cylinder heads over here as well I've left the other side open for a reason just so I can show you what we've done to it the reason this went to the Machine Shop is because it was out of shape from the overheating so when it's out of shape that's the reason we had a loss of compression obviously if you have any sort of uneven surfaces across here you are going to lose compression and on our case the car would not start at all now this feeler gauge shouldn't go through anymore can you see that that is exactly how it should be it should not go through so once we carried out our final checks on the cylinder head we straight away got to assembling the engine back up head gaskets on cylinder heads on and then head bolts on so there you have it guys behind me is a mighty m177 V8 Mercedes gt63s engine fully fully assembled backup and there's the Beast right behind ready for the engine to go back in look at this monster there you have it nothing in there look at empty it looks without this V8 the engine is getting dropped in let's go okay now this is scary I'll tell you why this engine probably weighs about 400 400 kg is right on top of the bumper that's scary it's some many snaps from here it's getting dropped on the body that's scary tell you that right now okay we're just going to carefully position it over the car so at the moment we're just slowly dropping it down very carefully ready Fu almost there [Music] music very very tight clearance here a bit of a struggle to get this gearbox in again come ready one 2 3 go so we have primed the engine a few times now to make sure the oil has circulated around the engine we're now going to go for the official start this is the big moment go for it let's start the engine up it's done the car's on it's running man it's running what you think running good sound good man sound good yeah yes I'm so gassed I'm so gassed the car is running the car is running a bit rough though he not running the best can you see after completing the whole engine rebuil this was surely a big moment for all of us where we got the gt63s finally start however that wasn't the end of all our problems we soon found out that the car was running a little rough and then had a few F CS from the engine and also on other modules in the vehicle too is that LE where down here look why is it P out here oh crap oh ins sideways this from here one of the ohle hole or something this one as well is one of the coolant pipes open or something no no no no was straight away although we all knew this car had a coolant leak we couldn't tell exactly from where until we got the car started up and went cooling into it which quickly exposed two radiators at the front and underneath the vehicle once we saw that we then saw the clear signs of sabotage as no sort of stone or Rock can cause a damage this ready to has on it here's the cooler and here is what I think is the radiator brand spanking new for Mercedes let's get this installed and let's fire the car up here's the old one that we removed if you look at that that is where the coolant was pouring out from that's strap right now we're going to use this water to check it yes we now rectified all coolant leaks and the car was finally ready to start for the first time without any coolant leaks and for us to diagnose the rest of the issues so I think the first time the engine is going to move off and hit the road so let's do this I'll let you hold this machine we still got engine management light as you can see okay so first thing first engage gear one for automatic okay accelerate to about 20 M 20 m per kmph oh look look what look what the car's doing look why is it doing that it's jerking yeah look well the car's not even moving right now we ain't going nowhere the ESP light is going mad this is the limp mode of all limp modes car is not going nowhere we going about press continue we're going about 5 mil hour let's head back the brakes aren't working properly I don't know maybe one of the sensors aren't working or something like that I can't really tell right now it says formatic currently unavailable something's wrong somewhere and look so much trying to drive the car look I'm doing about 5 miles an hour and the car just the es is like cutting in permanently and the car's just jerking and so much for our first drive as soon as we hit the road we noticed the car wouldn't go above 5 m hour and the traction control was was kicking in like crazy we couldn't understand why but there must be something wrong somewhere so we pulled right back into the workshop and then started diagnosing for further issues as you can see on the dash the es lights all the lights were on and uh we just couldn't figure out what was the problem look again the car don't want to go nowhere traction light is flashing like crazy so after doing a full scan on the car as you can see it has 10 full codes right this one here AMG Drive Unit communication with Drive tra control modu is Fault here General signal fault exists so if you guys remember in the last video this car wouldn't go about 5 m hour so now if you look at this the reason this happened is because when the engine was pulled out obviously because a formatic the drive shafts come off and we put the Ws back on without a drive shaft and pushed it off the ramp cuz we need to use the ramp and in that process because there wasn't a drive shaft on it and it wasn't fixed it was moving around a lot so because of the ex movement it ended up damaging these things so we now diagnosed the vehicle to require both front wheel bearings to be changed as they were damaged from being pushed around pretty much as the drive shaft are supposed to be in them but obviously with the engine out they weren't present and that caused the wheel bearings to get damaged 900b later we quickly got to replacing [Music] them so both the bearings are now back on G are on just because the engine cover left to go on we're starting this car and we're going to hit the roads let's hope there's no more problems in this car I wrong where I was the biggest of problems came shortly after keep watching guys I think it's fixed I'm doing 30 m hour by the way before I couldn't even go about 5 this is the moment we successfully were able to drive the car above 5 mil an hour for the first time so it was a great feeling regardless however we still faced full codes since a rotor adaptation has not been performed this full code bugged me for days until I figured out what was wrong with it so as you can see here Here We Go Again removing the front bumper to give us access to the front of the engine a lot of strip down is required as the F call is related to timing chain [Music] errors [Music] yep here we go again this is the intercooler coming out giving us access to the front of the engine where the timing chains are located we of course still had to remove the injectors the ignition coils the spark plugs and then eventually to remove the rocket cover to give us access to the timing chain and both sprockets now because because we had timing full codes the first thing we did was check the timing because at the end of the day we're all humans and we can make mistakes so we attach the timing tools to the cam shafts and then the lock on the crankshaft to check the timing it turned out that the intake side was slightly out which we thought initially is our mistake so then we just retimed the engine as you would and put it back together again so we're going to check for full codes engine manual light is still on as you expect what we're going to do now is clear the code of the dash and just hope that the problem is now fixed so initial scan we have 10 fold codes all of these these have come back after all that stripping and retiming the engine it's come back so who can tell me what the problem is here because I tell you right now I've got a feeling I know what's going on here let me jump out so this is the point where we realized that even after correcting the timing we still had the same F codes something is definitely throwing the the timing off what could it be knowing that the F codes were coming from only one side of the engine it can only be a number of things if it's timing related as you expect on YouTube there's always one or two haters commenting silly things like you've done this wrong you can't do this you're not capable send it to the dealer this is not for you on this case I had quite a few comments like this and here's me sending out a message to them so some of you guys watching are probably thinking we're looking at amateurs right now but let's get this straight yeah how many workshops in the UK are touching cars like this Mercedes rejected this vehicle get that right they would they wouldn't dare touch this car they would replace the engine they wouldn't do it there's not many workshops in the UK that actually dare to take one out strip it down reassemble it all right we did that it takes a lot to do that as well investing in this car buying it as a non-runner that's step one stripping it down and rebuilding it step two and facing problems like this it's all the risk and it's all part of the process so you hear out there shut your mouth yeah just joking just joking but yeah um I think that's it really you know the score gt63s fully stripped out and I think we going to strip it again it's part of the process sometimes when you diagnose a car you have to go back and forth till you get it right that's how we do it a lot of people give up that's not like us so yeah something in this engine is causing the timing to be thrown out however since we're there anyway I thought it's wise to change the timing chain tensioner and the chain at the same time because it's so much stripped required to go back to it if it's not the adjuster so in this box I have the timing chain adjuster here's a brand new timing chain these are all genine parts from Mercedes and also a brand new tensioner as well we have now installed the new timing chain the new tensioner and also the cam shaft adjuster the only thing I got to do now is pretty much start the car up and we're going to have to see if it has solved our problems or not I can't wait to do this but I got a good feeling let's do it start up what now needing to do is Rev it up to about 3,000 RPM and hold it cuz that's usually when the fod come back on stationary the fod do not come back so Riv it hold it for 2 minutes yeah I can't wait to find out man it's a big flipping moment look at the state of this car all right guys let's do it let's SC the car all I'm going to say is I've got a good feeling about this one don't let me down whatever happens don't let me down all right let's have a look at the report and there you have it guys the full code has not come back look G it's gone fixed yes man finally yes finally we've done it man we fixed the gt63s I can't believe it them F have not come back the only thing we're going to have left left is one full coat for this car and it's going to be sensor rotor adaptation has not been performed this however has to be done on the road we're not Havey to do it in the last parts of this video it said that once you erase the sensor V adaptation you need to take the car for test drive but remember we had the other F from bang 2 which is why we couldn't do it but you know what we smashed it the gt63s is finally fixed the only thing we're going to do now is box off the front end and then go on the road and do the V adaptation and I guarantee you this time when we hit the road the car is going to get coded and there'll be zero full codes and this car is going to be flying 640 horses flying I can't wait for that moment it's been such a big journey in this car but we made it boo performance for the win one more full code how do we sort that out there's two steps on the machine you got to clear the full code secondly you got to test drive it and go through a process it's an adaptation that's needed to do it it's been such a long journey let's go hit the roads so now all we got to do is hit the roads and complete the process and this time we will be successful the reason I say that is because previously we had faults from Bank two in regards to the timing and because of that we could not do it it just wouldn't work we done it like 10 times it didn't work today I am 99.9999 8% sure that it's going to work okay so Next Step perform teaching process sensor water adaptation doing driving operation and for that the car needs to be above 600 RPM which I am it's an idle in order to do this I need to set the gears to manual there you go that's manual gears I must stay in gear one and keep the Rev above 4,000 RPM and from that after do 11 decelerations and each deceleration has to last for at least 4 seconds sounds a bit complicated but I'll get the hang of it first gear let's go go above 4,000 RPM and [Music] decelerate yep we done 7 8 n I've done nine so far by the way it doesn't mean I have to do it nine times is how long it lasts for that's it done so I pull over adaptation was completed successfully continue do we still have an engine manual light yes we do so what I now need to do is go back to the main screen and clear the codes with the ignition off and we should have a clean Dash let's do it erase codes trouble codes are not detected Moment of Truth guys and just look at that tell me what that says all I can see is a handbrake this is where the engine manual light was nothing else left clean Dash tire pressure oh it's not touch screen check tires service a overdue we've just had a major service so no worries about that Reserve fuel level we'll go get a full tank now and that's it this machine is going to get packed away so now the Mercedes gt63s is 100% how do I approve it all I need to do now is switch it from Comfort to race mode Let's go for Bloss let's [Music] go my bloody H what an amazing time this was after all the days and hours of hard work I put into this project it was finally up and running 100% this is one of them feelings you can't expain but just appreciate I can definitely feel all 640 horses on the wheels I just can't believe this man the car I've been working on for the last few months here it is engine's alive no engine lights sounds like a bloody Beast this car scary man let's see what this car takes sh this the First full tank you ever put in yeah I think so yeah let's see how much it takes 25 lb exact now the car's got a full tank no engine management lights it's time to go take it for a blast it's only right ready to go yeah let's go let's go let's get the roads 245 mil is that all you get 245 miles that's what he says I'll be lucky if I even get that 4 L twin turbo V8 running 640 horses this is one of the fastest amgs from Factory I doubt it's going to get you get you 245 going have to find out I guess so this car has a 0 to 60 of 2.9 seconds what's the point of saying it unless I show you let's put this car into launch control mode first you fli it to race and it's quite straightforward put to drive hold the brakes and smash the pedal the whole car's vibrating the whole car is shaking like it want to just fly off let's do this all right so I'm sure you guys really want to know more than anything right now how much I've spent on this vehicle so far let's do that got a bunch of receipts here all from Mercedes I'm going to give you a full cost breakdown of parts and labor as well let's start off with the parts so first of all this car as you know it overheated and it needed two head gaskets replaced so head gaskets and head bolts for the cylinder head cost me 314 lbs we also ordered two oil coolers for the front because if you remember the whole reason this engine failed is because the oil coolers had some damage on it and all the coolant fell out and from that the car was driven it overheated to the point that it would not start anymore two oil coolers they cost a total of £526 now if you remember I had that annoying problem where the ESP was just kicking in like crazy and we found out it was the wheel bearings that was however quite expensive and both of the wheel bearings turned out to be 939 by the way these are all genuine Mercedes receipts no aftermarkets and the reason for that is because it's very hard to get used parts on a car like this it's just too new engine oil and filter 126 l 1 L of transmission oil 25 L two cam sha sensors when we were diagnosed the bang Two Shoes £80 a brand new battery because it was completely flat when I bought the car and it needed to be replaced we tried to charge it but wasn't working a timing chain tensioner and adjuster again for the bank two issues which finally resolved the problems of the gt63s and that cost me £ 848 now remember when a vehicle overheats the cylinder heads lose shape which I showed you in part one and part two we measured the surface and showed you that it needed to be skimmed down to flatten it out to skim both cylinder heads but that is all the parts boxed off now I'm going to tell you about Labor so as you know I'm the owner of boost performance it hasn't cost me a quarter of what it would cost me if I was to give this to a specialist or something along them lines so let's give it a full breakdown of labor on this car first of all remove the engine strip it down rebuild it put it back together a total of 3 days once we started the car up we found out that we had the wheel hub issue to diagnose that and repair it that took us a total of 1 day now the fults from bang 2 which adds was the most traumatizing part of this whole build it took me 6 days to figure that out and repair it that comes to a total of 10 days so what's the total cost for the parts it came up to £ 3,381 for 10 days of Labor it cost me £22,000 that is a grand total of £ 5,380 I bought this car for £86,000 was the investment and the risk that I took on this car worth it absolutely that's an easy profit margin of 28,6 600 lb that is mindboggling the risk I took here is knowing that if the engine is smashed up inside I'd have to get a new one I only needed to get a head gasket and of course all these other parts had to get alongside at the end it didn't cost me anything near what I expected it for it to cost so this project is basically now complete what's next you might ask am I going to be selling this car on the market am I going to send it back to auction I'll tell you what I'm going to do I'm going to be giving this car away to one of you guys what a Journey's been I've had to be very patient through the process and you know what success comes at the end you work hard you strive hard you get good results that's where we are today and I'm now next to this beast on the road we've did it boost performance has done it again so as some of you guys know I've recently launched my new business boost competitions as you also know I've put this gt63s on there where one of you guys can win it but what I want to do now is let you guys know why I launched the business boost competitions so as you guys know I'm a YouTuber and I buy cars from auctions repair them and I sell them on so the idea initially came when I thought why sell it when I can just give it away to you guys kind of benefits all of you guys if I give you guys a chance to win as well and at the same time with the support I get from the competition site I can always provide you better content which is what I promised so you're probably thinking here's another YouTuber and another competition page I'll tell you what M's not the same as the usual competition sites and I'll tell you the differences right now starting with my platform is an education platform so what I mean by that is I've got hundreds and hundreds of comments of people who say they benefit from the knowledge I give back to them on this platform on YouTube so I thought to myself I can also do that through my competition site because the questions I ask on there are quite Technical and not everyone can just get the answer right straight away so in a way I want to give you back my knowledge what I have in the automotive world what I'm doing my competition site is giving you guys back my knowledge as well in that way too so not only do you have a chance to win a car you're also educating yourself in this field something that I'm guessing all of you are passionate about moving on from that a lot of comments have said oh you're gambling this is a gambling site and stuff you know what I've answered this question so many times so I'm not going to get into it but I have broken down everything in the websites FAQ section if you go there everything is broken down whether it's permissible or not and whatever questions you have it's all there if not send me an email and I'll be happy to answer your questions I also had a lot of people questioning about religion and permissibility even about that it's all on there FAQ section and just to get one thing clear any gambling site in the UK have to be regulated by the gambling commission which I'm not and I'm not required to so that automatically answers the question just head over to boost comps FAQ section and all your answers are there now let's talk about entries if you go to all these competition sites you might be arguing that you can get cars for 20 89 999 so let me tell you the difference of my one if you go to the websites you'll see the entries on there are at least 150,000 200 250,000 entries Maran especially let's talk about this competition is only on 26,000 entries maximum which basically means one thing only it means you have way more chance of winning compared to 150,000 that's like the national lottery you might as well go play the lottery at that rate it doesn't make no sense but this way with the limited amount of entries at least you have a much much higher chance than those which are next to Impossible of winning also next week I'm doing a Q&A with my team here so if you guys got any questions regarding the competitions my YouTube channel content what you want to see any questions about this project whatever you have to say they're going to get answered just leave your comment below and we'll be happy to answer your questions next week so let's talk about this competition right here entries are only £7.99 maximum entries are 26,000 and someone's going to win it the draw ends in December Christmas time and I'll be announcing the lucky winner then some of you guys are probably thinking £7.99 is too much for this car I'll tell you right now this car retails at £130,000 that's a lot of money there it's a lot of money so I think the entry amount justifies how much this car is worth and also how many entries are there 26,000 not 50 not 100 not 200,000 so I think the 7.99 is more than justifiable and the person that wins it is going to be a very happy man I'll tell you that right now so in my first two competitions I usually put a discount code at the end or in the middle just to let you know that won't be happening for this car this car is set at £7.99 wherever you buy it at the end the middle or the beginning price will remain the same take advantage of it get involved and I'm looking very forward to seeing the winner thank you very much for watching this episode I hope it has given you a valuable Insight of this project from start to finish as it stands is very much complete running stage 2 800 BHP and hopefully one of you guys get your hands in it as usual like this video subscribe to my channel if you're new drop me a comment and I'll see you guys next time peace
