hello and welcome back to you Jax episodes for years today I'm gonna be showing you how to lang using ILS with the Boeing 737 which works with most other Boeing aircraft to okay so we are currently lining up to head over to Luton Airport so if you hit shift 3 you'll get your GPS come out and I've really programmed in this line if you want to know how to use the GPS I'll leave a link in the description to one of those tutorials that I've made so this is the airport we're landing out over here and we're going to be landing on runway two six and I recommend you use this exact example just to make sure you get everything right if this is the first time you're doing it so what we need first is the ILS frequency and the course and to do that hit alt on your keyboard to bring up this menu and then click world and then map and then that'll load up there go and just zoom in go over to the airport the you wish galanga this is the easiest way to go you can look them up online as well or other websites so we're going to land runway two six which is this strip runway over here going this way these green arrows sort of things if that's what you want to call them are the ILS are the ILS frequencies basically the strips that lead you down towards the airport so not all airports in the world have them but some do so just click on it basically anywhere they're mostly airports by the way do I meant to say just check it's the right one we run wait to 6 up there then write down your frequency which is 1 0 9 mark 1 5 and your heading which is your course 2 5 7 so you just write those down a bit of paper on a notepad on your computer or you can even print print that bit of information off if you do but they're the two bits of information that you need so I've wrote those down there before the episode started so I've got those so first thing that you're going to need to do and you don't have to do it but I recommend doing it it's clicking shift 3 then going into the procedures and then you want to select approach to click enter select your runway using this smaller dial here and way to 6 make sure it's an ILS as well you want vectors and then we're going to activate it straightaway so we're going to go down or the bigger guy leaving this time and then enter and then back to procedures activate okay so now the aircar as you can see is automatically turning over to the right to line up with this again if you want to know how to do that indeed and how what to change in this autopilot panel to make it turn to that way check out my GPS tutorial and my autopilot to tour I leave both of the links to that in the description so we now get set up our course first which was two five seven so it's this one out there and if you want to have to do this in an Airbus aircraft I have all you've got a video out on that it's just that some people wanted me to do this one because it does vary slightly so that's that set up now we're going to set up the the frequency the ILS frequency so if you wanna press shift to for this aircraft it goes very and you want to go down to this nav one panel and we're gonna set this out I'm just gonna pause it just to save us time because it is a tutorial I've started quite late to the runway but obviously if you if you want realism then you can obviously start doing all this stuff early wrong but we're just going to set that up to 109 mark one five so it does take a little while some aircraft you have two buttons which this one should do but it's just a slightly unrealistic where you can change the bigger and the smaller numbers right so that's 109.5 so we're just going to play it again and then you're gonna want to switch this over to active so that's on standby that's you getting it ready you switch over to active back does that you don't need that anymore so hit shift to let's just bring up the GPS again as you can see we are skilled lining up with this line here we now we're now going to intercept the ILS which is saying that ATC will usually tell you if that is what you're using so we're heading on over so like I said we're going to intercept this ILS frequency which is over there but what you can obviously intercept it earlier so first thing you need to do is switch this right here from nav supply from GPS to nav okay and then you can see the aircraft will make a slight turn because it's a bit silly sometimes like that and then it will correct itself and it will start making a turn towards the runway there sometimes it goes that like I said it's just coming a bit silly like that it just turns right and then it turns left but it will line up don't worry so it is going to make that small turn to the left like I said you can be using heading as well and then switch over to vor but I was already on that one so that's why it's doing it anyway so there you go it's mal making a turn to the left because we are now going to be lining up with it now this is the crucial part this is the part where you're going to need to start looking at this diamond here and it's always better to be lower on these approaches than higher okay because as this as you get closer to the runway you're going to be higher than you should be for your approach and that's when this diamond here and just in larger that's when this diamond say you're gonna start falling and falling and falling and falling I'm also gonna bring out a few degrees of flaps and slows down you still need to control over in fact I should have had my flaps out a little bit earlier so you still need to control your speed and your flaps and your speed breaking your reverse thrusters once you've language so there's the runway there so we are coming in for it now but I'm just gonna go a little bit faster than that so yeah you got we watching this diamond here so it's already started coming down because this is going to determine where on that runway you touch down and as soon as it reaches the center of that line you're going to click the a PP button the approach hold switch so I'm keeping an eye on that right now you're waiting for it to drop drop drop drop drop I'm gonna click it now okay so now the aircraft is controlling your altitude you no longer need to control your altitude using this bit up here your your altitude autopilot okay so we can get rid of that or you can get a look at that bit now okay so we it's not only now controlling our heading but altitude as well which is why it's important to get that spot-on and we're gonna keep bringing out our flap sweeping out bring out our gear as well which actually was already gone so I do apologize for that we that was gang a little bit early but ignore that bit you can watch my how to land video if you want to know whereabouts to put down your landing gear so it was already gone apologies for that so I'm not controlling anything the only thing I'm moving right now is my mouse okay it is now controlling my heading which is spot on and it's controlling my altitude which is descending down and you've got your Pappy lights here I've got an article on that I'll try and remember to link that in the description as well what your Pappy lights mean to reading to white which is pretty much what I can see there it's quite far away at this point but that is pretty much what I can see so I'm going to keep decreasing our speed down landing speed for this aircraft varies to about 140 hundred fifty knots I think I'll put it about 140 for this one okay all depends on wind and payloads and stuff like that so it's always important to make sure that you get your speed right because as you can see we've coming just slightly too slow right now which is why the the aircraft has started to flare slightly which is obviously a bit too early in this case it's just a tutorial it doesn't really matter but if you want realism in fact in real life this happens sometimes it's just all about pilot experience but it always is always best if you want realism just to make sure you get that right so we can just about see the angular runway there we're going to decrease my speed a little bit more now it's 145 everything will be our landing speed this time I just camp outside the aircraft just to show you real quick our flaps are out at full so there you go got to red to white we are perfectly in line with the runway and now you're gonna need to get ready to turn off all your auto pilots including your speed you'll speak a separate always so there we go in fact we are just gonna might as well just slow that down to it right 214 not like it will react to that fast okay so we're coming right down now we'll go disengage all of our autopilot we're going to put our engines to idle and we're just going to flare very slightly there we go touchdown and the front touchdown activate speed brake activate your reverse Oscars by holding down f2 and then once the aircraft reaches 60 knots you can begin to great there's actually an aircraft on the runway funnily enough so if you're all that but there you go look at that we are spot on the center we landed just about at the touchdown zone that touchdown zone will depend on where you press the approach hold switch for your Dimond but yet if you've got any questions or if you want to know how to do it for the for a burst thing make sure to go check that out I'll try them over to leave that in the description as well so like I said that is it if you've got any questions whatsoever leave them below if you found this tutorial helpful make sure to press the like button and subscribe for more tutorials and just general aviation and fsx videos so that's it guys thanks for watching
