Fruit Trees that you need to add to your food forest 🍎 🍋 🌳

hey everybody liverpool73 here i'm coming out here to do a quick video to show you guys for the people that's not growing figs i want to show you a couple of my favorites okay number one y'all already know number one hands down is my lsu gold fig i've been showing them for years and every year they show up and show out check this out this is the air layer that started it all right here this is the air layer that we took off about two years ago and it's loaded full of fruit cross your fingers y'all here go everything yeah there we go here we go [Music] cutting like butter oh see here we go y'all the big separation we finally did it we're going to loosen the roots up let's wake it up let it know it's at a new house he can stretch out a little bit hang his clothes up in the closet [Music] just like that look at all the fruit on that thing now this is the big mama that started it all right here this is where that graph came from i took that from right here you can see where i cut it right there where that used to be and now she's over there doing her own thing now here is where i did notching to make these limbs come out yep right over top of that node i am just going to simply rock my knife all the way around maybe about watch all the juices start flowing out that's that highway i was telling you about rock that all the way down don't be gentle with it to bring branches out in the middle of this tree these down here they took just fine especially this one but as you can see this is how you notch and make a branch come out from a node so as you can see the canopy up here is so high that's why i did the notching so i can't i won't be able to reach that fruit way up here so i wanted to do some notching to bring the fruit downstairs a little bit so the real reason we're here because i want to show you guys another favorite of mine check this out this is the black mission fig this is letting me know that they're becoming ripe the birds have already pecked into this one but i want to show you up close and personal if you have not had a fig this is one of the best between an lsu gold and a black mission fig these are the ones that i know of there are hundreds if not thousands of different varieties but this is the black mission fig it literally tastes like and looks like actually strawberry jam finger tight strawberry jam just like mama used to make [Music] can you see that it looks like strawberry jam it tastes like strawberry jam and if the birds didn't get this first i would be all upside down with this right here i'm going to show you the treaty that came off of i got this tree about a year or two ago maybe a year and a half ago and it just keep on growing so it's time for me to uh air layer it so i can have more of this tree because this is just as delicious as my lsu gold check out the tree this family is my black mission fig tree this tree has doubled in size since i planted it if not tripled in size and they just keep getting bigger and wider and bigger and wider it's getting so big that i did an air layer on it because this whole half over here that's one branch that i'm about to take off but let's get right into the size of this fruit i want you to look at that look at the size that you really can't tell but i got a big hand you already saw the piece i had in my hand a minute ago that's almost ready look at the size of that fig these figs get so large they're almost like small pears or apples look how big that is can you imagine eating one of those and it's like just eating a bunch of strawberry jam but it's good for you and it's healthy not only does this pump out gigantic delicious figs but they're also good for you and it pumps out a lot of them i mean back to back to back i've seen it even pump out three crops the only thing is by winter time that third crop does not make it but as you see is very very very productive very productive [Music] so you'll get two of these big bumper crops a year now the bigger this tree gets the more fruit you get all right so i got one more thing to show you this may end up being my new favorite fig i was going to get rid of this fig but it just started just tuning up and acting like it had some dog on sense that's why you never throw it don't don't give up on your trees too soon let me show you this right here oh my god first i got to show you this other black mission fig look at the size of this look at that look at this look at the size of this thing can you see this that's a fig ladies and gentlemen that's how you do it if you go if you're going to get some figs this is how you want to do it right here look at the size of that like a little baseball okay all right let's get on to it and let me show you one of my new favorite fig trees this is one that i planted about a year and a half ago right with the black mission fig don't look like much now but this has quadrupled inside this is the corky's honey fig corki's honey fee this thing is so productive i thought it just let off small little little figs like this every year it will pump out these little figs and i just let the birds eat them but look at what we got now not just put you look at this look at the size of this monster can you see this can you see this big old beast so that's something right there that i didn't know i didn't know it let off giant figs the size of the lsu gold now look at this one here's another big mambo look at that this is how big the lsu golds get and this thing ain't even ripe yet it ain't even ready here's another one now as you can see it's loaded full of figs loaded now all of these figs are gonna get that big everyone you see all around here so you might want to keep your eye open for my uh quirky fig god there's a bunch of big monsters down here this one look at this this big monster down here look at that so this thing is going to keep on growing and keep getting thicker but it's loaded full of fruit look at that and they just keep on growing look at all that tenderness so family like i was saying get your figs up and then you could get your figs together hold on a minute oh listen i hope i hope before i go i'm just gonna say a little quick prayer this i'm gonna look first before i say anything if i don't see what i think i see oh i was gonna say i'm gonna edit it out look at this family this is the first [Music] these are the two jujube trees i planted this spring remember there was just a couple of little sticks in a bucket and i put them out here and now they're all leafing out and everything else but that's not what's blowing my mind because i see that every day this is what's blowing my mind i look for this every day do you see what i see [Music] baby jijubis so my flowers have been pollinated now this is my first time ever growing jujubes i love the way they taste they're like they taste like dates medjool dates with a spongy texture and i had tons of flowers all over the tree and now it looks like i'm starting to get fruit i've never seen such a thing never this is a first for me so we're seeing this together look at that baby jujubes if you do not know what a jujube is please google it go look at a youtube channel and they're going to tell you everything about it so i don't see any fruit on the leaf jujube [Music] but the lang is really going at it over here wow so we do got jujubes family at least a couple anyway well that's it you guys i just wanted to show you my figs today because i cannot wait to taste them i got a couple of saturn peaches look like they're about ready let me see little donut peaches it could wait a little longer let me see oh boy i don't know i don't know about that look like yeah something been pecking on i can smell them too so they might be ready let's let's see what's going on might as well yeah the birds pecking in at it the birds pecking at it so it that is delicious white on the inside it's just a little peach mine never get too big this first edition of the saturn peach that i got i've had this tree for about 10 years the peaches never get too much bigger than that man that's exactly what i want them to taste like and look at the seed oh damn permaculture food forest got me ready to plant this seed see what's gonna turn out to be man this is how you wanna do it i can't wait till five ten years down the road when i'm just walking through here picking stuff from the trees and eating i told you i'm trying to build a food empire they can keep their food for us i need an empire let's go see why we out here let's go check out this other peach tree because i see some peaches popping off on it let me prove something to you real quick too let's go i want to be able to walk through here reach up and grab apples pears plums [Music] all my trees are young so can you imagine when i get older here's my indian red blood peach i'm surprised it's doing this good it must be right because things are starting to peck into it the inside of that is going to be blood red we'll check into that on another video but this is what i wanted to show you here this family this is my contender peach this is one of my favorites besides my red haven this is one of my favorites and they look like they're about ripe now there's nothing too special about this tree except for one thing you see how much fruit is on the tree the good thing about this tree is they do excellent in containers excellent in containers do you see this is that not beautiful let me see it's kind of soft in there i'ma give it a shot let's see nice size for container peach let's give it a taste here we go let's give it a shot incredible i promise you family what i'm gonna end up doing to these these peach trees same thing i did to these plum trees and the pluto trees i'm just gonna end up mounding them up because i want these trees to get huge the taste like that you can't buy a taste like that every blue moon you hit a farmer's market and get that flavor but i need tons of these so i can can them preserve them eat them fresh this is the kind of fruit you want to give your grandkids you know or your kids for that matter [Music] i'll save some for lady liam i'm gonna just take her her own but it might not taste like this i better take it to it but that's a beautiful peach you see growing blueberry boulevard family you can do this too so my proof was you can grow this stuff you don't have to be in the ground it can be in containers too look at all the stuff i got in containers i got loquats kumquats peaches plums figs uh pears everything over here is in containers growing you can do that too bananas all right so i'm gonna leave you all alone cause i'll be out here all day because i got so much to show you all right live farmer73 i love y'all
