Front End Developer Portfolio Reviews

hey guys in this video we are going to be reviewing a portfolio okay now this is a before you for our web developer and let's get to it alright so I'm gonna put in the URL here and here we go hmm I like it nice animation right and this is something that I always tell people like half animation that makes sense and half animation that looks nice and clean okay so whenever you have your website up either for your projects or your portfolio make sure that the animation makes sense don't just add animation just to add it make it look something good but at the same time like it makes sense you see like the animation here refresh it see animation came in from the top the name is showing up right I wonder how he did this probably through ESRI geez but yeah just nice and clean nothing too crazy no crazy rotations no you know things popping up from the top and just like showing up randomly like everything is good okay I like it okay nice animation on the about okay here's some pretty good animation okay so it's a student of apply informatics started learning front-end development by myself in the February 2019 I'm able to work with the following technologies javascript es6 react yes react router HTML CSS animation flex box responsive web design github photoshop technologies I would like to master Redux react Redux react spring UI UX CSS grid and lots more okay nice he is his portfolio so is a react weather up okay so actually looking pretty good let me click here see how this looks let me put in Miami search for Miami okay nice and I like the design of it it looks like an application looks like something that somebody could use it would be cool to see this maybe as a progressive web app or even you know maybe using something like ionic or react native and maybe making this into an actual native application right so that right there will make it look even more legit it will be like hey I have a website and I also have the react native application you could go check it out on the Android store you could check it out on the iOS store like it actually opens the doors for you to say okay I have this weather app but hey look at all the different places and the different platforms that I've created this same application okay so that's pretty cool and then we continue just says contact okay it says let's connect alright so here's the information so so far okay from what I'm seeing is I know our nerd coupon all right so you have two skills right now what you want to do is you want to have more projects I want you to go ahead and spend more time and to create a more real-world type projects right like literally find a video that I created is called top five projects for JavaScript or even the tough art projects that guarantee you to get higher all right I talked about maybe a real estate maybe a restaurant maybe something for digital agency like a product lunch or something like that right adding more projects like your portfolio I don't want you to waste any more time or spend any more time on your portfolio because your portfolio is nice it's already good this nice and clean now what you need to focus on is the projects again one thing that I like about this is that you don't have any projects from like different courses that you have taken so shout out to you for that because I've been telling people for awhile like hey stop doing that stop adding projects from different courses unless you change it up and you make it your own okay so I'm happy that you actually just have a very simple project yes it's a weather app but it looks good okay now you you want to add some extra features maybe some some type of back in maybe you want to come in here have user authentication setup where somebody can put in create the same application same way how you have it but then you could add extra features like let's say for example you can say hey the user can login the user can save different locations so like let's say somebody is going to travel to Dominican Republic and they're gonna travel from let's say the 18th of January to the 27th there's an API out there which can tell you what's the actual weather like on those dates right so you can actually add that and say hey this is the the weather right now in you know Dominican Republic but this is how it's gonna be or what's the average gonna be in January from the 18th to the 27th right and then now that user can save that information and say hey let me plan my trip let me plan my trip for this date you're gonna say like now they have an idea so it's fine to have a weather app you just want to add more features to it ok because everybody can do this in the sense of like anybody can connect to an API and give back the the weather for somebody but was gonna make your weather application different is the extra features that you add to it all right so so far I will give this you know maybe a 7 out of 10 because there's a clean portfolio and you're keeping it simple you don't have no crazy animations right you have a pretty good project ok it shows that you know how to code you know different things about the front-end you know how to work with API it's pretty good now you just need more projects alright so I'm gonna stop right here guys and we're gonna continue with another portfolio alright the next one here let me refresh it for you guys whatever location responsiveness ui/ux clean minimalistic I can click on projects okay so he has a front-end clone of Trello okay so I like that he has the preview he also has the source so let's can't add list the king by car can't add another one another one alright so it seems like everything is working pretty good you could drag and drop this just like I said before I'm pretty nice okay you can remove team members okay so there's like a nice little clone for okay nice okay so pretty much you really put in some time into this application I like it everything is nice it got some pretty nice animations all right click on filter cards okay this one's not working this is not working that's fine alright so you see it's just it's like a little playground right basically so nice alright so let me go back let me go to your next project which is job tracker full stack web application for tracking applied jobs okay click on preview okay loading loading loading loading the only problem about Heroku apps is that you know the Dinos be off or like they have it turned off and until you go to the website so if nobody has gone to the website in a while like the website it takes a long time for it to work especially when when it's the free version so he actually gave me the credentials to try this out so we're gonna put this in okay and we're gonna click Submit okay it looks nice I can't apply to front-end developer let me see him try it anyone let's say back in developer okay company is a coding face no test okay click on add okay so there you go shows the thing alright actually shows how many have submitted 7 code challenges for an interview on site offers alright pretty good ok you could actually change this that's cool mmm I will try to fix this just like from a UI side of things but especially like if I click here like let's say for example I want to change this I click here right and if I click outside this thing should go back to being a regular text okay because I'm guessing is you you're expecting the user to press Enter but what if the user doesn't want to press ENTER and he wants to click outside of the input field then what that should do is it should close up that view of showing the input field and show back again the regular text all right so that's pretty cool let me see I don't know what else is there anything else that I can do with this application all right I know besides the fact that it a full-stack application you're able to register you're able to login so you have user authentication it's a very simple application it's pretty much a crud again so that's cool you got some information here I don't know how you get in the code challenges information and things like that but it seems pretty cool okay now let me go back go back to your projects I came you got job tracker we got this other one what's our remodeling company okay alright only thing I would like what's that animation coming in like that throws me off also to this this background here like this it's no good because as you can see this background was pretty light and then the text is light okay so it's white so it's not gonna be a good good mix okay all right my advice is if you're gonna create a website for some type of like construction company like look up at the examples that's out there so pretty much what people already have so let's say construction company near me or something like that right so let's see this and sometimes those type of watch don't look good but at least you can get an idea of like what they're putting out there like see like this website looks horrible looks like somebody built this in and when I wore a sari and boot strapping and didn't even put no styles to it or anything so let me see ah see if we can find some good Construction Companies mechanic constructions Inc let's see how this looks okay so there's like an idea of like what a construction company website looks like of course you can make it more modern you know cuz even this doesn't even look that great okay but at least it I feel like this has a better structure than the website that you have for blue ocean you see like the background how it is see like this right here even though it looks ugly but at the same time there's a structure to it right so we got the images we got the different services that they do right we got a section here which is sort of like some type of blog maybe we got the information of the the company we have a footer with all the different things like licenses and etc right you could go to the our work see what type of work they have done which is like a regular gallery right but as you can see this like a certain structure to the website right and things is aligned properly and then just in order but if you wanted to build something like this you can definitely improve this because if you go to websites like team forest calm right and let's look at what professional developers and designers are actually building so the search for construction okay let's go through here let's take this as an example I can't so let's look at this one loaded up give it a second but look see like this looks nice I guess it's nice structure website okay you'll see like it has a header okay has some nice animation here like you don't have to go so hard with the animations as far as like a slider because as you can see this one has like a pretty nice slider you don't have to go that that hard to create something but like this look how nice and smooth the animations are and it's very simple to do something like this okay this is just a simple hover effect again here has a little slider has information about what they do here has information about the value and the different things that they're putting in experience their machine against as you can see is pretty nice alright as a blog etc has some testimonials so as you can see there's a structure to this type of websites okay now comparing it to your website I don't see the structure in here like that okay you can definitely make it so much better so take what's already out there nothing like copy what they're doing but look at what other developers and you know designers are creating for certain type of websites so let's say for this one I guess they're their preview is not working let me see close this okay let's open up another one that's simple click here and give it a second let's go to this one okay it's a certain structure to the website as simple is something that every single one of you guys can do and as you can see the animations are there but they're subtle they're not like too crazy like you don't see this thing coming from the right and be like okay hey guys I just popped up from the the right hey I just fade it in from the right like from across the screen like now you just have very simple animations and keep it as simple as possible okay so it's pretty nice alright so there you go guys now like what I will say about your portfolio so so po-han you have the skills right I like your Trello that was my favorite one because it looked like you put it on time this job tracker is nice because it's a very simple like crud application okay now here you have the right idea of creating a website for a real business now you just want to perfect it in it make it look like as professional as possible like there's nothing wrong with looking at what's already out there okay taking ideas from people that you know are successful you know like you can see here like this thing has eight thousand eight point six thousand sales okay so this means that this website alone create this whole structure of this website works okay very simple right you could literally look at what's already working and create your website so if you know that eight thousand people have bought this design or have bought this this template that means that is something that they will pay for right so you can literally come in and create a website that it's very similar to this and I exactly like it but you can take the same formula that's already working right and like that you can go and build more projects for your portfolio because this is gonna open doors for you to get clients open those for you to get more professional work okay so definitely I like the the fact that you have the right idea of creating real websites for real businesses now it's just about perfecting it alright so anyways guys if you like this type of portfolio reviews let me know what you guys think for poor hunks portfolio I will also give it a 7 right because it's not bad I like the projects that you have in there just got a you know tweak it a little bit better but yeah it's pretty nice guys you guys let me know too below let me
