Fresh Paint, Carbon Roof: Our Donk is BACK. But What Color is it *Really*??

another episode of dawn that's the dark side here we're going to paint that we're going to pick up a roll case that's actually just the color of my car with flakes i honestly feel like this is i like a lot okay don't underestimate church man [Music] trying to look kind of empty in here moving stuff out you know what car is missing uh the dog oh yeah oh how'd you figure that out did you read the comments uh i read a comment or two we did instagram updates actually on the other day on instagram someone said as hoonigan said we sold it and so i got mad people being like yo why'd you sell the dog no brian i honestly thought you took it home and i just didn't say anything so i thought the donut was just gone forever i thought this was it it's basically the same color it's blue that's blue green is what are you talking about like what the last time this thing moved is just by hmm oh that's is that six months where's your evo ron oh i'm sorry i mean your lancer you go you got one car you got one car i got excuses i got excuses i have excuses it doesn't even have a motor this thing has a motor no excuse yo i'll start the right now all right so guys guys everybody oh everyone's here because of dog this isn't what anybody wants to talk about so that's it you guys saw the thumbnail you know the donk is back we finally got it back from paint wait how many miles how many miles did the gs run five thousand miles oh i forgot you did you think yeah can do this to me anyway we know you guys been asking for it it's finally back from paint literally still on the trailer jesus man she's shiny speaking of dusty let's get some bodies so if you don't remember this is actually the same color as my audi that was blue this is super blue this is audi blue with a blue pearl and a gold flake in it we actually didn't change the color on this one because when we did it was too blue so it is just like at certain angles it looks like the same color as my car this is no way just no way bring it outside and let's compare color all right wow that is the same color you had no eyes if i take my glasses off and put your mask wait wait put your mask over your face it's the shadow line it's just that this one's yeah it's a different color should i pull behind is that yeah pull it pull it behind pull it behind i mean look at night from it's so wildly different it's not even close no it's not even on the same spectrum that one's also in shade it's the same shade look at the bottom it's like the same color in the shade it just happened but i don't really care so no one makes a carbon roof for this but we had this crazy idea to actually do a carbon roof on our dock and k n you know sponsors a bunch of our stuff they make all the intakes and make a bunch of custom carbon fiber stuff for that they were smart enough to take on the project of laying up a custom carbon roof and trunk and hood for the dump yeah that's pretty sick we documented the whole thing so cut to some footage on how it got done to wear horns we got i don't know if you can see them all over there already working we got mike and we got tony from k n they're going over with the tap surface prep before they get the carbon cap on if your base is that good and your the prep is not good the carbon want to hear it'll start to lift and a couple weeks later a couple months later whatever it is you have like lifting carbon it just looks like crap prep [Music] it would never be right all these pits and holes you're trying to fill this thing you'll be here forever and it'll weigh eight thousand pounds because the body filler and stuff there's no good way of doing this lay it over with carbon which is going to be super light and it'll take up some of the imperfections in it and you're done weird looks cool [Applause] [Music] [Music] okay the the roof is covered one coat on two more to go he's finishing up a little bit on the corners there and then we'll let it dry it takes three to four hours for it to dry so he's coming back tomorrow to put on another two layers so that and that would be that so after that it's all paint prep so you sand it down you prep it for clear and once you clear it it's uv protected so it's just like the rest of the car [Music] so all right so we got the car back cf hood paint now it's time to put it back together the goal we're gonna set this crazy goals as you guys know you haven't already seen we got a new spot in compton we're in the process of moving out but we're gonna finish this and try to drive it to the new spot mostly finished not finished finish it enough to drive it to this yeah drivable we've learned that making the car drivable doesn't mean it's finished right yes far from it donk is off the trailer now it's time to do some work and if you notice there's an empty parking lot because as soon as there's time to do work everybody ran away but today we got our guy rich over rich is all things old and shiny right yeah old and chrome old and chrome so rich is gonna help us out with all this stuff here this is all the old body trim and the side moldings and it's all got to go back on it's got to get refinished we're going to start off with just laying it out and kind of locking it up on here we're going to tape it up because we got to do a cut and buff and actually make the shiny parts behind it nice on the paint before we lay this on so i'm going to start off with doing that sitting all the pieces on and then once we get it all where we think it needs to be or what we know it needs to be start ordering clips and fasteners to get it all going and then while we're waiting on those parts we're going to polish repaint and touch up these pieces so yeah that's what we're asking i'm excited because there's no way scotto or her or anybody else was able to do this because this takes a lot of skill and a lot of patience two virtues that don't come easy especially not here [Music] [Music] all right so you've already heard us tell you we had a lot of delays getting the dog painted but we'd really hoped we would have gotten it back just a few weeks ago so that we could go to a donk race that's happening in verona which is kind of like san diego area as you can see i haven't gotten much done since it came back from paint the other day but we we're starting to clean it up right got the engine bay cleaned up got all the parts lined up got all the rest of the stuff lined up but all of this stuff still needs to make itself on the car before we can make a pass not to mention dino tune everything else but still gonna head down to verona support our boy sage and uh you know also see what the competition's like because we know that sage got fast cars but the question is is anyone else in california got fast cars [Music] all right we out here we're on a drag you guys might remember this spot from an old episode of scumbag labs but this was the race we were supposed to get the dock ready for as you know paint jail stalking paint jail so anyway we're here check it out see some of the local competition who'll be some of the first people we've got to break off yeah anyways we're on the drags stock masses going back to cali show you know what i don't think we've ever actually shown this car to anybody not on the channel yet on instagram yes this is our boy lloyd's he's been at the shop for a little bit sick because it's so nice and he actually hops like it's not for little and it's actually the it's actually the tupac car from to live and die in l.a so stage what what race we got going right now right right now everybody right we just skinned the hellcat stuff so right now we got big double up from las vegas right here he got he got he got slicks on the car look he's looking nervous ruined against the big rim car and it won i don't know what you're thinking okay here we go so this is a good matchup but i think the battery's gonna die the minute they take off let's see how this works out this is probably the perfect amount of space for a tesla yeah man he planted a whole oak tree in that dude's backyard still got him [Music] we didn't bring the donk down the race we figured we'd race something and this right this tony right here tony hauled this thing down here so he's going to get the chance you're going to drive merch ramp he's the man i'm driving merch fast hopefully i don't let you down you think we'll pass tech uh i don't know we give him a hat we're about to all right perfect we passed the tech we passed in tech so hopefully well let's start let's rip everything out of it and get her set up this is how much it costs to pass tech right here probably that's the cost that's that's sweet all right cool now we all know what a payoff looks like down here in verona just to catch you guys up real quick ls6 holly uh holly efi shut up it's got some seats right out of a world war ii bomber and it's got a lap belt what could go wrong not much no not much
