the Mongols and the Hell's Angels have had a violent past many lives lost was it all over California bottom rocker or is it way deeper than that we talk with the former Hell's Angels ventur president about what life was like as a Hell's Angel and his son becoming a member let's get into it what is it like for a 1ent on the west coast in prison like on the East Coast it's like Bloods Crips Latin Kings trinos the Dominicans over here it's like way different like how was it like being a king you know and you know we talked about my interview I did with Michael franches you know a little bit earlier Michael frenes was there in prison so guy Cassy alone's there he's a powerful Hell's Angel from San Diego he's just in the midst of the Mongol War he's there for uh uh killing jingles and Redbeard two Mongols from San Diego uh Michael frenches is there uh Rosario Gambino uh we call him call him s or Sally Gambino he's related to Carlo Gambino from the East Coast have you ever heard of the Pizza Connection the Pizza Connection was a group of guys kind of run by uh Rosario that brought all her into the United States oh yeah and they had pizza shops set up everywhere oh and that's how they got the heroin that distributed it so he was doing 41 years uh there were some Jewish gangsters there and there were some old school Italian Street Gangsters there Sam Santino uh who was the underboss in Los Angeles was there he had just got busted with Carlos Marcelo from New Orleans the New Orleans boss they got caught bribing a judge so what do they do just take all the bosses and put them together apparently you know they did back in 1986 because it was like a uh so we got s Gambino cooking all of our food on Saturday and Sunday we've got the the guards are now we didn't you've seen Good Fellas yeah wasn't like that we didn't have lobsters and we didn't have fresh date but we had canned goods we had canned clams you know for the Linguini and clams you know but you know we had our stuff we had our whiskey we you know there was a time they were even bringing women that was before I got there the some of the guards were bringing prostitutes in you know it was Club fed and you know were they bringing you like phones back then and stuff or was that before pH there was a uh Iranian he didn't call himself Irani he called he described himself as Persian uh he was a Persian opium dealer he had a phone in the wall he had one of these big block phones and it was buried in the wall and you know if you were in one of the privileged guys uh you know you could use the phone is that the old school 80s one the big gr it was like this big man yeah it was huge a block phone we called him so you know we got treaded to like kings in there you know and you know I went back to prison this was 1986 I beat my case I fought it all the way uh you know took it uh to the jury ballsy thing to do you know they got a 98% conviction rate yeah I mean it's a ballsy thing to do I was facing life on one count 20 on the other but I was young felt Invincible you know and I took it all way I fought it I fought two other cases one in 2001 a 59 count reran State racketeering case and uh fought that case wound up making a deal uh Tony Sarah a famous uh lawyer up in the Bay Area uh you know he told me goes you got to take the deal George we D you know they dropped uh all but two counts they got me for conspiracy and uh I I think theft uh there was a young crew of guys around the Hell's Angels and my son being part of them my son was a Hell's Angel at the time and they had sto a million badon from an Air Force Base what and uh uh uh they they were running the streets you know the I know that the somebody had to help them out to do that right an Airman yeah that they went to high school with uh these guys were all youngsters and uh they had this viced distribution uh thing in ventur county and uh you know they were killing him on the street what is that like your son becoming a h Angel too what was that you know it's funny uh a real proud moment for me yeah he got in the club he was 18 years old he was the youngest Hell's Angel in the world at the time he got in the club and you know who I got my biggest and even though we were at odds from time to time I got my biggest support and my son got his biggest support from Uncle Sunny Sunny backed him you know Sunny's a true Outlaw Sunny the rule was you got to be 21 years or old or you got to have a fake ID that says you're 21 years old and Georgie got a fake ID is it because he knew that it's like now it's generational yeah yeah I think so and I think Sunny you know Sunny was a sunny could be unreasonable in certain uh issues and then other issues he just blow your mind you know uh that was one of the things we agreed on you know we're in the officer's meeting and you know I'm uh saying Georgie's coming around the club we're going to make him a prospect there's a faction of people that say no man he's he's 17 we know how old he is man he's been around us since he's three yeah and uh I I mean he did his hang around process he did man you know uh a lot a lot longer than most people but you know Sunny says let me ask you a question George does he have an ID that says he's 21 and I says he does and he goes there it is there guys you know and uh you know he got voted in and uh he became a member you know you know sunny backed him all the way you know so you know it's hard to read Sunny sometimes but uh so let me I want to ask you something because I always wonder this like you got you got house Angels vers Mongol house Angels vers pagans house Angels vers Bandidos Hell's Angels versus Rock machine is it a Hell's Angels want to dominate the world thing or is it that clubs want to take that title because they were around first like how do all all these wars on all these different fronts how was that even possible well I often ask myself that question you know we had we were fighting with all the clubs and one group of individuals we were fighting you left out was law enforcement so I mean what is that five or six fronts we're fighting you know so we're we're spread out uh my my thought was and I don't want to offend anybody listening it's not my intent you know this is my mindset when I'm in my late 20s early 30s uh leader of the Los Angeles Hells Angels soon to be leader of the Ventura Hells Angels uh I felt invincible and I felt like we were number one you know and and if I know that when I talked to Taco from The Outlaws Taco thought his Club was number one I met the Bandidos I knew sprockett who was the international leader from the Bandidos he felt their Club was number one that's you know just the way it was and you know the Mongols uh uh were a new fledgling Club they felt that they weren't going to take any shit off the hills angels and they didn't you know we got a lot of physical confrontations with them the history speaks for itself the bombings the machine guns whatnot uh and my thought always was we're the world champions every time we fight one of these new clubs or one of the existing clubs we're giving them a title show we're endorsing them we're making them something that we don't want them to be we don't want them to be a contender we don't want them to be competition for us my position with the Mongols were and was initially let's make friends with them yeah let's let's diffuse a situation let's make friends with them let's don't give them something to come against that being the Hell's Angels we gave them a reason to live you know they basically said uh you know what uh we're not going to take any shit off you guys and you know now look at the Mongols they're forced to reckon within the bike culture there was a period of time when you know people didn't know who they were so I talk about patches a lot on the show and I tell my younger cuz you know I got a younger demographic I tell them don't just take a state and put it on the bottom of your vest cuz there going to be a lot of problems or could you say that like 99% of these problems is because of that bottom rocker at the end of the day well I I think that it started out that way but you have to go back like the problem with the Mongols and the Hell's Angels you know law enforcement always took the easy way out they said it's over the California rocker and they're fighting for drug territory well me personally I never saw anybody fighting for drugs I saw OS yeah I saw domination uh I saw territory and when I'm speaking territory not to dominate the drug business hey this is our fucking hood stay out of it you know but that's like a California thing too right yeah absolutely but I got to I got to tell you and you may know this you may not know it your listeners are young they may not have heard this story before Chester green is a Richmond Hell's Angel Chester green Rats on the Richmond Hell's Angels him and and Whispering Bill both decide to test testify against the Hell's Angels in a double murder whisper and Bill goes into Witness Protection Program and then he dies George weather uh who was Oakland vice president one time he goes in Witness Protection Program uh he's testifying as well in this thing Chester green who was a Richmond Hell's Angel he testifies what's he do he goes to Long Beach and joins the Mongols wow so that's was the root of the problem it was that somebody from our club who testified against members went down and joined the Mongols so it it turned into a uh a big controversy a real problem I had to go to Taco when I was negotiating with the outlaw Taco was hanging with chester green Chester green had since moved to New York because things were flying down here in Southern California man it was I don't know if you know history I mean you're in Downtown LA man there's explosions there's machine guns on the freeway it's like an urban you know Warfare going on here there must have been nobody that was willing to talk either because nobody talked back then cuz you would think if you would like go to the Mongol and be like this dude's A rad they going to kick him out you know what I mean but nobody really got to that conversation no they didn't have that conversation and I think part of it was because the Mongols were new they didn't understand the protocol Chester green convinced him that he wasn't a rat I went to Taco and took the paperwork and I said you know Taco I got to tell you man I'm really digging everything we're doing we had an Amnesty on the violence at that time and here's a two clubs that were killing the hell out of each other got an Amnesty on violence and I said I'm really having a lot of fun man I'm digging your members I go but I got an issue man I go you're partying with chester green who ratted on some of my brothers in in court and he goes that's bullshit man and I I gave him the paperwork and he was kind of like yeah you know whoa now what did they do I don't know I never found out I I know I interviewed um you know Junior Scott Junior Ericson from the Mongo sure uh junior actually was the one who took his he found out and took his um patch and all that yeah that's interesting yeah because so I guess that's where he probably went to the Outlaws or whatever I don't think Chester went to the Outlaws I think I think he was done and you know it's interesting I talked about this on the outlaw Chronicles that TV show I did on the History Channel and the Green family threatened to sue me oh yeah yeah they were going to sue me and I you know oh yeah because if it's a person's real name is they consider it defamation well yeah but it's only defamation if it's a lie though exactly and that's what I told him I said look I said this is the way the show came down I researched they vetted what I researched yeah I I'm sorry man I'm sorry your uncle was an informant but he was it's not on me you know it's on you guys so you know they never sued me uh uh but you know putting on we had California first we had we had City Rockers and the reason so was nobody doing that before like cities we went to the California Rock do you have any idea why we went to the California rocker a lot of people misinterpret why we went to the California rocker the Attorney General Lynch can't think of his first name attorney general Lynch put out this just devastating scathing report on the Hell's Angels and other bike clubs in California uh so much heat it was unbelievable they were you know he said he was the Attorney General here in California he was going to run us out of business this is in the 1965 and you know we dug in so you're not running anybody out and you know I wasn't a Hell's Angel then but this was affecting me because I'm hanging out with the question marks I'm hanging out with the slaves and then later the Los Angeles El Angels so it was affecting me but sunny and other people came up with the idea let's go to a California rocker so nobody can identify us wow we're from California all of us and that was you know they say necessity is the mother of invention that's how that happened it wasn't about power wasn't about dominating other the bike clubs it was about making it more difficult for law enforcement to have surveillance on us that's what it was all about did you ever think when Sunny like when that happened and everybody switched up and you did the California did you ever think that everywhere around the world 20 40 years later everybody would have some type of bottom rocker saying something no but you know uh you know we always had City Rockers it would say Oakland bdue dego Los Angeles you know you you'd have these City Rockers San Jose Frisco uh some of the names were abbreviated of course you had the uh the nomads uh they had come down out of Sacramento because the sheriff up there was giving everybody the blues and why why didn't you ever think of doing that just going Nomad like so they don't know where anybody's from the nomads probably felt that was exclusive to them because they went to the California rocker but they wore the Nomad side rocker and just like some of the guys in Oakland were the side rockers guys in ventur used to wear the the young guys would wear the side rockers but it wasn't uh about domination You Know It uh it was a necessity in the next episode we talk about the Hell's Angels conflict with the Bandido MC and how George Christie and other Hell's Angels members flew out the Europe in the middle of the great Nordic biker War to try to end it all doesn't sound like fun but it's the life of an outlaw you know what you signed up for you get the call it's time to go [Music] oh
