for joining us today and being with us and we pray that you'll be blessed through our sabbath school and divine service experience today we're going to start with a word of prayer we're going to sing a song and then we're going to engage in our lesson let's bow our heads as we pray this morning father we just want to say thank you for this beautiful sabbath morning a time of joy and reflection as well as rest thank you for this gift and may we enjoy today in jesus name amen amen if you would be so kind turn into him to 251 or if you know it you can sing with us if you're online you can find hallelujah [Music] [Applause] [Music] is [Music] [Music] elder wallace valsey god bless you this morning thank you pastor happy sabbath church it is a privilege and a pleasure to be here this morning to review the lesson with you i said the word with you our father and our god once again as we come together to review this lesson and study your word you did promise that the power of your holy spirit would be with us to lead us to all truth so for this power we pray this morning in jesus name amen we have started a new quarter um and the title of the sabbath school lesson for this quarter is called present truth in deuteronomy present truth in deuteronomy i have some great scholars in front of me here this morning and i'm going to ask them to participate with me there are not too many of us so we will be able to have a roving mic so when i ask a question if there is anyone who wishes to answer please feel free to raise your hand and i would like to see that we study the lesson um as a group the word deuteronomy means second law if it means second law that means there was a first law uh deuteronomy uh the the author summarizes as follow it says that uh having left egypt and have having entered into the continent at sinai and with the lord the children of israel instead of going directly to canaan wandered in the wilderness for 40 years when the 40 years were finished 40 40 zero years were finished and the hebrews were finally about to cross over to the promised land moses spoke to them in a series of speeches the essence of the speeches that's what we find in the book of deuteronomy so the book of deuteronomy covers topics such as the law and grace what it means to love god in your neighbor and most important of all how the book of deuteronomy reveals to us the love of god which was most powerfully made manifest in the death of jesus on the cross and his resurrection deuteronomy should we say is a bridge uh as between the old testament to the new testament truth uh as far as in the bible as you find it it's still a bridge to jesus on the cross so the the memory verse for this week's lesson preamble to deuteronomy says he who does not love does not know god for god is love is there anyone in this world who does not love anybody so that means god is everywhere because everyone all the trillion people in the world actually knows a little bit about love i venture to say anybody wish wishes to challenge me on that even the most hardened criminal in jail has some kind of love either love for himself or love for something that is dear to him on another side so because love then in universe is universal that makes god universal because god is the very essence of love so now here is a question and i i'm asking sister also to please pass the mic to whomever when you say i love you to somebody what does that mean have you ever given it any thought when you say i love you to somebody what does that mean i'm i'm going to be speaking to sister ventris to sister jacqueline who is here and um sister rousseau sister haslam what does i love you mean elder thomas wishes to speak the title for sunday is love and to be loved so that's what we're covering now amen and that's what god amen so the demonstration is only through giving action um can you can anybody else expense on that this morning i told as i was preparing for the lesson my wife did say i love you i said what do you mean and she was stumped she did not know what she meant she took a long time and she's still thinking about it i said when i come back home you tell me what do you mean so when we actually say i love you it's an easy word to say as elder thomas mentioned i'm coming to you uh i have two answers here go ahead sister jacqueline and then my dear sister is over there i cannot recognize you by the mask but some of you i will i believe um when you say you love somebody is not self-centered and so even your action because even our actions which sometimes are good our motives are wrong so it's not about when you love somebody when you say you love is not so that you can receive something but it's really wanting the best for them um your thoughts towards them is always um is positive what let me not say always positive but your your what your wishes for undesired for them is always for their own good i'm gonna i'm gonna do something different sister jackson keep them i keep the mic i want you to speak in the first person when i say i love you to someone i mean okay okay very good so when i say i love you to someone is not from it's not for my own self-benefit but i want the best for them i desire the best for them not not so so that they can do so much for me but i just desire the best for them very good amen we have one hand over here hi i think she said most of what i was going to say what i'm trying to say sometime i said to my husband and my kids do not say you love me let's see let me see the action sometimes you say you love me let me see the action let me see don't even say it i told my kids all the time let me see don't say it i'm tired of hearing it i need to see the actions so the thought your thought uh omits that of sister thomas so love is action now uh action is also i don't want to go that far actually also is a word there are all kind of actions there are actions that build and actions that destroy um so love are the action that actually builds i i must take it love or the action that act the uh the action that actually make the person who received the love better should i put it this way now i'm coming to to to back to the lesson in the lesson also they talk about freedom what is the nexus between love and freedom right so you do you guys remember the lesson i said we're going to review uh uh in the lesson god created for uh uh the angel and one of them was lucifer uh he said i created you beautifully but he created lucifer with full freedom to love and not to love to serve and not to serve so why then not create and [Music] make sure that i love in fact the same thing with my kids or your kids for that matter you give them birth they do not they are not obligated to love they have the freedom to love you or not to love you so what why then god did this god is pro-choice you just said that yes we were made in his image sorry yeah because we also online so that's why we pick up you pick up the mic so once you speak in the mic they also can hear you so god did not make us robot uh he gave us choice go ahead sister jacqueline anything that people do by force is not genuine and god wants whatever we do must come from our heart not what nobody has to hold a gun to our head nobody has to back us up into a corner so that freedom of choice allows us to be able to do it from our heart not because we are forced to do it and god wants purely whatever we do to come from our heart amen is this sister here it's kind of a question i have is it possible to love somebody and not lack them and not what like them can you love and not like can you lack love can you like and not love now let me use my language background here you see the word like is only in english because most other languages that i study we have one word for love it's love english for some reason decides to put degrees of love which is like yeah if if you you cannot like and not love and love does not mean like it's either you love or you love not so there is no such thing as degrees of love now now as you know they are the different kind of love i love sister ventress it's not the same love i pro uh uh they are they are connection between the love i profess for my my wife that goes to another degree you understand but it's that same love where action comes in sister ventress is in need i must show the love that i say that i love for her same for my wife sister ventris has the freedom to love me or not to love me god does the same god loves everybody god gives everybody freedom and god gave his only son for everyone so the gift is for all therefore uh love and like is only an english uh um a phenomenon if i can put it this way because in french love is m a like is emme in spanish love is amar like is also amar so it's english that create that degree can you imagine your your child keeps you telling you every day i like you mom so you would have a problem to say man this child is not getting to the point of loving me yet so we not we must love each other so my son do tell your mother that you love her uh so brothers and sisters god when he created god created us with full freedom that's important and in the freedom that god that god gives us he also instilled in us the ability to love and be free to not love because had he done that they used the the example of a dog robot that does not pee on your carpet and that does not interact with you would you really love that little dog robot as you would love you know your cat sister of entries who sometimes pharaoh does bad stuff but you still love pharaoh uh because it's phil has the choice to do whatever it is but you love them anyhow now this lesson is the setup for the truth day lesson be very careful here for the tuesday lesson the call of abraham in that lesson the call of abraham the bible talks about a god calling abraham and told abraham specifically abraham i have called you i have chosen you and i will make you father of many nations so i summarize it because i want to get to the part of stephen okay i summarize it i will make you father of many nations and god in essence had a covenant with abraham a covenant is a contract with abraham abraham you obey me here and i'm going to deliver the whole world to you now further in the lesson there was a question asked in acts 720 the mortar stephen depiction of moses and exodus how does this fit in god's initial promise to abraham i don't know if you read it that's one of the things that i read and i spent a lot of time on in the lesson uh in in the book of acts chapter 7 you see in acts chapter 7 it shows you how stephen knew the word and he recited to them the whole history of what happened now uh uh i'm not gonna read the whole thing i will just highlight a few it's he said to them uh and at this time moses was born he gave them the the history of moses birth and was placed outside of pharaoh his education and he talked about moses being 40 years old decided to visit his people and guess what he saw two of them fight moses uh killed the egyptian why because moses was standing for his people all of this has the significance brothers and sisters and then after that moses flee and 40 years after an angels appeared to moses and then it was god who asked moses to go back from the land that he flee to go free his people and after those 40 years uh uh passed the lord god uh uh moses father sent moses back then the lord through moses delivered the children of israel he let them out of egypt and perform wonders and sign in egypt at the red sea for 40 years and this is the moses who told the israelites god will raise up will raise you up a prophet like me from your people which was the prediction of jesus christ coming right so here is the question extremely important question that the the tuesday part remember we talk about love as seventh-day adventists uh uh how do how do we as seven-day adventists see ourselves in relationship to the rest of the world that's question number one that is what parallel exists between us and ancient israel more important what responsibility does this parallel place on each of us individually the first one the relationship between us and the rest of the world the second one the parallel that exists between us and ancient israel and the third one what are the responsibilities remember we talked about love before so i'd like anybody to to pick that up because i think that's the crux of the whole lesson uh um for this week relationship between us and the rest of the world we should love the rest of the world amen we are god's chosen people and we have to reflect god that's the whole bottom line there is a little song and it's in the bible as well to be like jesus this my song in the home and in the throne the throne is the outside world and we should never see ourselves as being separate separate but in a christ-like way amen not separate in a snobby you know i'm better than you way or i have have it best that's just what israel did and because of that uppitiness that they had they became disobedient to god and the lord rejected them in their own way not one of them except in two were allowed to enter the promised land so okay i'm going to come back to that anybody else but go ahead and i will come back to that to the i separate another question is that how do we love the world how do we put our action to show that we if we love we should be anxious to do things and we care so much like i love my kids i'll do whatever i have to do to make sure they're safely okay what do we do to show the world that we really love them that jesus loves us amen how do we do that amen thank you for bringing something i did prepare there is one verse in the first part of the lesson that says thou shalt love the lord with all thy heart with all a heart and with all your strength there is strength involved in love so how do we love the world how do we use our strength to love the world but but let's i'm going to come back to that how can we keep separate from the world because we are in this world but we are not of this world right so we must be peculiar people as god it was god himself because it it i was thinking why did god separate them from egypt and in the same god was the one who placed them in egypt remember through joseph he placed them there and then the same god went and and asked them to in fact remove them from egypt and put them somewhere else how does that affect us and then how could they love egypt from that separate part that they found themselves although some of them love egypt just because they were complaining and they wanted to go back but the love we're talking about how do we love the world how do we show action to the world while we are apart while we remain peculiar and separate that's uh uh the dilemma that we need to figure out how did jesus do it jesus was still there he did it by telling them of the kingdom to come because i love myself so much that i serve god and i obey god if i love the world therefore i need to tell the world where the good things is going to be hence i need to go and tell them that's one way to love the world the other way to love the world is what we did here at hempstead that thing happened in haiti the church came together and put money together while we cannot solve the whole country's problem you helped some that's action um and those are the things that i can come up with now what are the parallels between us and ancient israel go ahead sister jacqueline yes um just like the children of israel was entrusted with responsibility to [Music] enlighten the world around them we have the same responsibility and that's what god um requires of us and so our responsibility is to spread the stranger's message we have to warn the world and we have to be different we can be of the world but our very lives has to reflect christ christ was different but he mingled but he didn't mingle and become a part of or get involved in what the world was getting involved too often we find ourselves we are so involved but we get caught up and instead of us winning people to christ they're winning us over to them and so we can while we for example we have our jobs you go on a job you do your job well but you should be different in the way you carry yourself the conversation you engage in how honest are you these are the things that we we should do of course and you mentioned a very important our charitable deeds is very important and when we we are charitable we need to do it in general not just for the people that we are affiliated with but people in general because there are disasters everywhere and so sometimes we have to make sure that we are as kind and we are we react to every disaster as we react to those who are close to us amen now let me take your thought somewhere else i don't know if you have seen this in the lesson the parallel established right between us and the children of israel there is one here is one remember moses went and saw uh he saw one of them being mistreated by an egyptian he stood for his own we must stand for our own amen moses stood for his own and then now the next time he saw two israelites fighting he said brothers you must love each other and reconcile with one another brothers and sisters another parallel is that as we are in the church we also fight with one another and there is a moses who is telling us here we talk about love we must love each other and the action verb love said we must reconcile with one another and the other parallel is that when moses told them to reconcile guess what they say who made you rule over us did you study did you see that in the lesson that's and then then i saw that the parallel and then i started thinking so i'm looking at the church today the adventist church in general and christianism in general for that matter we fight with each other we must reconcile with each other and you you realize it's moses who was a type of jesus who was telling them to reconcile with each other it's the same jesus also who came back who told us i died for you so you remain brothers and sisters you uh uh you must reconcile as i come to reconcile you with my father you must reconcile with one another those are some of those parallel that i see here that we must pray as a church not to be like the israelites fighting with each other and standing against each other but seek to reconcile and focus and follow the leader who is jesus christ and not make the leader the villain as they try to make moses the villain now another parallel is that um the responsibility that places on us is a responsibility to show the world that we also are able to obey the comment of love that god gives us that shall love your neighbor as thyself and i shall love the lord those are the two those are the greatest commandments jesus said love your neighbor and love your god that's the responsibility that places on us and as a responsibility we must use our strength and our connection with the holy spirit to actually love one another and show the world that it is possible that we could love one another and stop bickering and fighting with each other the covenant at sinai and the covenant at sinai now why did the lord call the people out of egypt the bible said are god saw them suffer and all of this lesson is projecting us to what's going to happen for us it says uh i have uh you have seen what i did to the egyptian okay now therefore if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant then you shall be a special treasure to me above all for all the earth is mine uh and i've seen the problem of my people and i have now sent you moses to tell pharaoh to let my people go i believe god called his people out of egypt not only to deliver them but to set an example for those who were to come after the people so that i standing here know that god was able to pull the people out of egypt to bring them to the promised land i also believe that god has called me out of this world out of my misery to bring me into a heaven that is being prepared for me right here right now this lesson is helping us project what is happening with us and what will happen for us tomorrow that's one of my contribution you see um when moses spoke to the people in spring in sprinkling and sprinkle them with blood this is the blood of the covenant which god has commanded you he said and that projected that jesus christ came and shed his own blood to remind me and you and to let me and you know that he is willing to share his own blood for my salvation out of love and another parallel if you if you must the covenant at sinai and the covenant with abraham i'll digress a little bit the covenant with abraham is he told abraham all the people of the earth will be blessed because of you and one of the way we are blessed because of abraham is through the death of jesus christ by god giving jesus to die for me and for you because now we come to know jesus all the promises of god are hours all the promises he made through jesus are ours and because of his promise to abraham that i shall be blessed i now can kneel down and claim those promises and know that my god shall answer because he is a god who enters his promises go ahead sister thomas amen we need not forget that amen okay if you do this i will do that amen and that's where this idea of choice is so absolutely important amen uh and and that helped us let me just read this point for you god gave them some of the stipulation of the covenant to their end of the deal so to speak the ten commandments and then this covenant was ratified having sprinkled a newly constructed altar with the blood of the offering moses took the book of the covenant and read in an audience of the people the people again declare that they would obey i wanted to bring the word obey that you just mentioned here uh all those promises are conditional upon our obedience to god's word in fact that's another parallel that we could also establish whereby us as seventh-day adventists we pledge to obey all god's word we pledge you see we say i say we pledge not that we do the whole thing as the people did pledge to obey all god's word we also do pledge to obey all of god's word and keep his commandment and as way back when they were observing the sabbath which was one of the pillar of god's government we two are doing the same here and then that takes us to our thursday part of the lesson we talk which talk about apostasy and punishment now when i read that and then you recall that the lesson started with love and beloved and then i get to thursday you talk about punishment i didn't see the word apostasy i saw the word punishment um i said how could such a loving god put in the whole thing punishment huh why punishment sister dracula and sister johnson uh why punishment justice i heard somebody say justice uh then i'll say i'll bring it over to you go ahead sir amen if he doesn't love us you'll let us continue to go on our way lost but he wants us to get our attention to let us know we're we're in the wrong way and sometimes he has to you know make us hit us a little bit to get our attention very good you think uh uh over here sister also very good yeah in addition with what he just said god is the god of justice amen if there is love there must be justice like my kids always said mommy you said you love me and he has to be justice in order for the thing to work he's a god of justice amen elder townsend in the back i like i like the previous answers but one particular thing that god did we saw in the in the latter days where there was a misunderstanding of who's supposed to be giving sacrifice and we see in numbers where 250 elders tried to give sacrifice and god said you have not done what they have said and he wrote all 250 persons that sort of punishment is a serious punishment and so many women at that time realized that god was not plain god was very serious about his commandment and what they need to follow amen amen uh if you recall when moses brought the law the people this is now therefore after moses brought it in exodus 19 verse 5 says now therefore if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant then you shall be a special treasure a special treasure and to me above all people do you get that god will elevate us you get that sister jaclyn because we obey we are a special treasure to him and he elevate us above all people and he said for all the earth is mine you know how we love to quote this the cattle of a thousand hills are yours oh lord please do this for me amen yeah so punishment then as the brother mentioned it is an extension of love do you get that punishment is part of love because without punishment then loves become licentious it's hard to decipher because i remember kimberly uh you know my daughter kimberly i love her to death and i remember i was i was walking she did not know i was here i was listening to her and she said you see that little short man when he punish you when he punishes you it's hard she was talking to her little friends it was like she was talking about me as the villain but i know when i quote and could punish kimberly is to actually make sure that i raise a child that is becoming of the world that is the beauty of the world and that who becomes who she is today it was out of love it was never out of spite we sometimes see god's punishment and make god the villain but we do not look at our shortcomings when we told god when the people said uh we will obey we will do this we will do that we expect the manner without our own responsibility all we want is mana mana mana and then we just go out there and do our own thing but god says listen here because i love you i will chastise those i love hence punishment should be welcome now i said welcome with quote and quote punishment should be welcome that means once you are punished god expresses his love sister johnson i know you laugh because if god does not punish me when i messed up he stops caring he stops caring and if he stops caring i'm in deep trouble so i would rather take the punishment and i stay inside god's love as you say i'll take my licking and i'll keep on ticking amen so now let me read that part for you and then i close it says here on the last part of thursday and then as now so often disobedience comes not just from outright rebellion though that does happen but from a failure to trust in what god tells us that's what that's what i wanted to bring a failure to trust from what god tells us that's the definition of sin remember sin is the transgression of the lord that's the very definition of sin so when do i transgress the law is when i don't trust i don't believe anymore what god tells me so uh what god tells us what made this sin even more heinous for israel was the fact that as god himself said all these men had seen my glory and the sign which i did in egypt and in the wilderness and have put me to the test now these ten times despite all that they had seen and experienced they still refused to obey the lord and to take the land despite god's promise that they would succeed that reminds me something let me read that sentence again despite all that they have seen and experienced they still refused to obey the lord to take the land god said here is the land take it are you with me they refused because i said you said i don't trust you even though you give me mana out of nothing they refused to obey god despite god's promise that they would succeed despite despite god's promise they would they refuse and refuse and refuse not going to say more but brothers and sisters this morning the lesson is telling us that because we love we are of god because he who does not love does not know god now because we love we know god and the knowledge the word used for knowledge here is we experienced god we have experience with god we are uh knowledgeable we are aware we are cognizant whatever word you want to use as to what god can do and who god is therefore we love i love and that love must be translated into action and this action must be felt by people in here and people out there and as i propagate this love as i spread this love to others these people will see the god that i serve through me the jesus that i profess to serve through me and i because i love them will point them to the salvation that my jesus has given me because because i love god and i trust god i have a peace that they don't have and they will come to share in the peace that i have in the hope that i have and in the and ultimately in the salvation that i already have because i am living a safe life they too can live a save life by knowing the god i know and the jesus i know sister ella thomas no i did not you realize i didn't talk about it you did not mention it at all what exactly is apostasy okay apostasy is a demarcation from that which uh a ruler or an authority ask you and i to follow okay that's was a long definition for example if the church says do not listen to churchy wear masks and i say i'll just do that and then i come in here and i decide where my unless you under at the mic i decide i'm not wearing my mask i am an apostate i am demarcating i am against that wall so the apostasy that to talk about here is the fact that the people of israel actually read it but i did not comment on it because i told you i read it uh it says even though they know the word the commitment and they professed to moses that they were going to keep the commandment still they did not keep the commandment the murmur the complaint why because at some point they stopped trusting god so you made me come back to talk about apostasy uh because when i looked at it i looked at punishment and i kind of gloss over the apostasy which shows also in my presentation because um but the call is for us to be vigilant to be vigilant as so that we do not as the bible say turn to the right no to the left and then we follow god to the t and the only way we can do that is to the power of the holy spirit in us because in me and in you is nothing but weakness but with christ in me hope of glory and he will uh his strength shall be made perfect in me so that's the perfection that talk about that's the only way that we could overcome apostasy thank you for bringing me back may god bless you thank you elevation for such a wonderful study we know time is going to be far fetching us so we have to be careful and we have to watch the time it's personal ministry time i will not have a lot of time i just want to share a few things from the chosen to be a disciple chosen to be a disciple we all are disciples when we accept jesus christ is that you and because we are all of jesus we are all disciples of jesus christ we have a responsibility a responsibility i'm going through this book chosen to be a disciple by robert j charles and i come on to something that is very it's just a reminder of what our responsibilities are and i will just touch a few things it mentioned here discipline discipleship is not just a process but a lifestyle i think ella valson touching it a little bit once you become a child of god you have to demonstrate that chew your lifestyle is that true it is not temporary aspect it remains permanent through the course of our lives it means it means it means what we do on what we say as disciple must must demonstrate the the behavior the character of jesus you see it's saying called to be a christian in our lives mean that we have to live a life of christ discipleship and disciple isn't just one program of the church it is what the church does it's not just a aspect of the process of god testimony of god it is also god business and earth we are here to do god business and earth as valson said that we are here or someone in in the audience said i think his sister sister i'm not sure what sister said but we are here to demonstrate to preach talk about the three angel message to a dying world that's our job it's also we you know sister white sister white admonishes she said the call to give all to the altar the service to come to each one we are not all asked to serve as elijah does nor as we all didn't sell everything we have but god but god asks us to give his service the is priority somebody say hey man is service supposed to be the highest priority in our life to allow no day to pass without doing something to advance his work on earth is that true amen amen he does not expect the same kind of service from all one may be called to minister in the foreign land another maybe asks to give of his means by the support of the gospel work is that true god accept the offering of each it is the consecration of life and all its interests that are deemed necessary those who make this consecration will hear and obey the call of the heavens is that true no to this this week last past week we are having a series a series that is going to continue as of 11 a.m this morning and so our job is to tell our friends you can take out your phone now and text someone tell someone that pastor samuel from jamaica is on this series text someone tell someone you can use your text today samuel and as he speak your word let somebody understand and accept the fact that you are coming one day and they too must reconcile themselves with you come to learn about you and become saved that when that day come and when the trumpet sound that there too will rear crown in jesus name amen amen amen thank you thank you thank you good morning again everybody who is here to all our guests and sabbath worship experience for our footprints of hope evangelistic series now last night we had a time here in this place we had powerful music by our footprints of hope praising praise and worship team we had our singing evangelist sister nisha walcott and we were blessed by a powerful word from our evangelist pastor glenn samwell but you know family let me tell you this morning when i was getting dressed i was almost late because i had to take a minute to just praise and worship this morning a song came on and i just got lost in the moment has that ever happened to you family has there ever been a song that comes on when you're getting dressed for sabbath or getting ready for work and you just have to pause and give god praise that's what happened to me this morning but i made it i was on time god is good sister kabrina has that ever happened to you what is that song that gets you going on sabbath morning well michelle that's one of the hardest questions because i have many but this morning the song that really set the mood for me it goes if god nothing but the blood and it's by casey j and it goes like the chorus it says if god be for me who can be against me if god is with me whom shall i fear if no one knows me still his heart adores me i am saved i am loved and i am healed i know that song that's a powerful song one of my favorites as well so to those of you watching and we adore you as we come we do not take it for granted that on this holy sabbath day of rest we are able to gather just to say thank you so as we come lord we want to deliver all that we are into your hand all the proceedings of this day into your hand we want to give you lord the preacher lord i pray that you will continue to anoint him from the crown of his head to the souls of his feet and your faithful [Music] [Applause] that i am [Music] of the goodness [Music] praise the lord i'm number 10 of 11 kids so from a big family had a extremely faithful godly mom she loved jesus and was always teaching us about christ had an extremely violent father not a believer abusive i saw my dad one time come after me with a hammer there was also other members of the family who sexually abused me so at a very young age i was quite confused on my mom telling me how good god was but all these other things going into my life is difficult she always would just say little things like god is faithful god would work it out my two heroes were my uh my two middle brothers george and doug i mean they weren't the best people but i just loved them i thought the world of them george got into really serious heroin addiction as i got a little older he got really bad and i remember one night i was sleeping on the couch and the knock on the door and i was the one that answered the cop said on some where's your mom and i don't know why but instantly i knew there was something wrong with my brother and finally my mom came downstairs and i remember distinctly hearing him say your son was murdered tonight i was angry i was angry at god but my mom just said you know god's gonna work it out but i didn't know how i just took one of my heroes my sister vicki by this time had become my heroine and i was embarrassed you know friday night i would see my own sister on the street selling herself for dogs and all of that led to honestly to a dichotomy in me it was an immense desire to love god and there was a immense desire not to trust him so i became very depressed and extremely depressed so i was gonna go back home and i was gonna take my life i remember as wednesday morning when i wrote the note and i said god i'll give you one more chance i said the only reason i haven't taken my life right now because it will kill my mom and i said god please show me that you're real show me that you care because right now i can't see it that night god really spoke and that night i made a commitment that i was gonna follow him no matter what no matter how hard it got i said god i'll do anything forgive me through my life through the difficulties the struggles of pain god has really shown himself faithful the whole way and i was a messed up guy who was selfish and i was heading the same place my dad and my brothers and my rest of my family was going and god says don no i have a better plan for you and even though satan destroyed me god had better plans that indeed was a man who was drowning who needed to be rescued you know as i said on the beach one day i was watching the vacationers as they frolicked in between the crashing waves they were having so much fun and they didn't notice that the lifeguard was sitting perched upon his stand vigorously and studiously studying the waves and looking at the swimmers you see nobody ever notices a lifeguard until you're in trouble and as i was sitting there all of a sudden i heard the screech and the scream of the whistle the lifeguard leaped from his stand grabbed his life preserver ran toward the ocean dived in with the life preserver to serve a swimmer that was in trouble i want to let you know i don't know what kind of waves are crashing around you this morning i don't know what kind of trouble that you may find yourself in i don't know if you are trying to tread water and you feel yourself going down but i am here today to tell you that god has sent a lifeguard in the person of pastor glenn o samuels he's a man of god who through the years has searched and scanned the crashing waves looking for sinners who are going down fast and today i believe that god has sent him here to find you and to search for you throughout the world he has preached and brought thousands of souls unto jesus christ but on this day he has the life preserver of the word of god which is able to make you wise unto declaration of god's everlasting purpose so that the earth will once again be filled with the glory of god as waters cover the rolling seas i welcome you to this the beginning of our second week together i missed some nights last week and so you can't miss any time this week we're going to go right in the word today but i have to tell you if there's any part of the service you should have missed it should have been this section here but you can't miss this evening for in the evening hour we have a special word from heaven for you and you can't miss the evening hour since you're here just stay with me so just in case you have not yet connected with your relatives who ought to be listening now i'm gonna give you a minute to to to take up your iphone and uh pick up your galaxy pick up whatever you have and uh share that link send the connection uh whisper a call if you will if you are at home and they're not in your space and they're not viewing find them because god has a word of encouragement and challenge for somebody if you know someone who's wandered from the fold then pick up your phone and call that someone if you know somebody who is becoming despondent depressed distressed and discouraged i i want to ask you to pick up here for if you know somebody who's challenged by life's vicious vicissitudes now is your moment to call up that someone shall we pray our subject today is in safe hands almighty god this moment needs more than what this sinful wretched lump of human clay can provide you know that right now unless you take over this word will not be given you know god that right now you were needed more than ever before and so put some strength physically and spiritually in this feeble lump of clay stand up in this pulpit today yourself and by the power of your own spirit give the wind a mighty voice send the word today that would disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbs in the word today that will be an encouragement to those who are discouraged send the word today that'll be a warning to those who need to run before it's too late bless us in this preaching moment we ask in jesus name in safe hands uh we look for safe hands in critical moments in our lives we we look for safe hands uh at points that we consider to be extremely important i will remember when when my wife was approaching halfway in the pregnancy stuff when we got pregnant that you didn't hear me out there when we got pregnant and and she got to uh somewhere around five months uh trouble began and uh we felt that uh she was in safe hands i still believe that dr david brown and dr uh whatever sharp he was are still two of the finest gynecologists and or baby doctors are you listening to me i will remember when they called me to the corner regional hospital having discovered that there were challenges and they said to me uh we've got to be frank with you we we can promise you that we can save the children i said the children i applied to the divine board of children's services for one and and god gave two are you listening to me and so they said to me that they will do all they can to save her life but they weren't sure they could save the pregnancy and so they called a specialist from kingston and he came down to join the medical team and that we sat by my wife's bedside and they walked me through all of the possibilities all of the issues all of this stuff and they said uh we're going to be sending her to kingston because we can't risk having her here in montgomery we'll be sending her to kingston early morning so go home get some sleep and get back over here at 4 30. go on get some sleep and we'll be here we'll send a doctor she we can't send her in helicopter her pressure is too high uh we can put her in an ambulance she said she won't go in the ambulance as a matter of fact she said the only way she's going to kingston is if her husband drive i mean and so i went home but couldn't sleep and they called me early morning they said we are forced to operate here by the time i got there she was already heavily sedated she couldn't talk uh but i whispered in her ear she was right by the door of the theater it seemed like an eternity that had passed and uh a doctor rushed past me he was in this plastic stuff his face covered up i wasn't sure who he was and he rushed past me with a tiny thing and i said oh i feel so sorry for i wonder who's the parent of that tiny thing five minutes later the doctor number two rushed past me with tiny thing number two a few minutes later they called me and they said well we will now take you into the incubator room so that you can see them because they may not be around for beyond an hour i walked in there and i saw two tiny things i could put them both in one hand and have space left on either side i'm talking about in safe hands one way a pound and a half at birth and the other barely two and a half pounds they told me that they weren't sure they could survive when i got inside the room with the incubator i saw two bits of tape shaped on the little plastic thing that they're in i saw faith on one side and hope on the other side and that's why my girls who are no past 20 are named faith and hope i didn't name them the doctors they said that it they are convinced it is not by medical ingenuity while they were live one said that he's been playing morgan for his father who's a pastor for many years every sunday morning he's there he's heard him preachable miracles but in that delivery room he said he was a part of a living miracle in safe hands the many uh husbands and wives who look for safe hands at the point of the delivery of their child in safe hands and when the child grows up we look for a good teacher we look for the good school because we're looking for safe hands to place the academic development of our child's life we look for safe hands but when they have grown we'll we look for good universities because we want safe academic hands to to place our children and we we look for safe hands ah and when they begin to court they also look for safe hands in which they can place their future you know the song i place out my future in your hand where they look for safe hands and i'm helping at kamara to look for safe hands are you listening to me i'm helping uh stash to look for safe hands safe hands that that that will be uh strident in their relationship with god safe hands that will be guided by the hand of god i'm talking about in safe hands business persons like my good friend foster and all those guys they look for safe hands in which to place their investment i to tell you a story my friend they look for safe hands isn't that so even lawson they look for safe hands in which to place their investment you there in new york city on the stock market you look for safe hands in which to place your investment i'm talking about safe hands uh when money is acting funny and you want to make sure you have a secure retirement you look for safe hands in which to place your future and if we would be so careful with our money and our education how much more careful should we be with this stuff called life and more so our eternal destiny in safe hands somewhere around 6 22 bc born in judea to an upper class family a royal descendant of the lineage of david between age 17 and 18 he was rudely uprooted he and his youthful companions daniel shadrach may shock and a bad negro i mean a bit nicole uprooted carried away captive but these teenage boys knew that when you're going into a strange land with strange people and strange food and strange worship and strange culture you want to have safe hands in which to place your trembling hand and they move with the resolute faith in the safest hands ever they trusted the living god daniel shadrach meshach and abednego oh and so my friend for the 43 years of the reign of dedicated those boys through their teenage years their young adult life now in their mature years they remain resolute with their faith because they had their hands in the hands of the man who steal the waters 23 years after the death of nebuchadnezzar in another realm the needs and persians now in charge but when you are in the hand of god he'll bless you in the most unlikely places he'll bless you among strangers he'll bless you he'll just he'll just be l-e-s-s-s-s-s he'll just bless you your enemies may have a headache he'll just bless you they even said you spread a table for me in the presence of my enemies you annoyed my head with all my cameras over surely goodness and mercy when your hands are in the hands of the living god you are in safe hands you're in safe hands and for 70 years danielle served in high positions daniel outlived the powerful king called nebuchadnezzar daniel lived through the reign of belshazzar king of babylon daniel was blessed in the realm of darius and cyrus listen to me sometimes we we feel that god can't handle our future sometimes we feel that we've got to do stuff and sometimes the stuff we do aren't in harmony with the plain verse said the lord god we feel we've got to do these things in order to make ends meet well you can do that only because you don't know the hand of the living god he's the hand that's still the tempest that's the hand that opened up blinded eyes that's the hand that put your casket and the dead jump back to life in safe hands there are some chapters in the book of daniel that i think are important for us in times like these so daniel chapter 1 in 606 bc we have the capture and the education of daniel and his companions and i want to pause here to tell you this that that somebody said give me your child for this first seven years and i'll make that child something for the rest of his life you want to understand the mind is the measure of the man and if you're going to successfully handle life's challenges if you're going to successfully deal with the sin stuff in this world if you're going to live successfully in a messed up age you've got to allow the mind of the master to be the master of your mind so paul said let this mind be in you which was also in christ jesus 606 bc these teenagers turned up in a strange land and their first test listen to me every child of god will have tests and trials when your hands are in the hands of god after those tests and trials will come t-r-i-u-m-p-h triumphs are you listening to me and so here they were in their first tests they knew their body was the temple of god they knew they had to be careful they were taught by their parents to eat right to drink right to dress right hear me carefully like a manufacturer god has a manual so that if we follow it we'll be in good shape if you buy a brand new car or a brand new truck you're given an owner's manual it tells you how to care for the vehicle well god has given us an owner's manual called the bible somebody said d-i-b-l-e basic instruction before leaving earth i'm talking about in safe hands are you listening to me i know i'm getting old but i haven't forgotten my subject in safe hands so here they were now far from their home hear me young people hear me young people they are far from their parents they are far from their pastor they are far from their church they are far from their country they are far from their country culture but they were not far from their god strange culture strange music strange food but daniel chapter 1 8-10 said but daniel purposed in his heart he made up his mind that he would not defile himself can i talk to a youngster can i talk to a youngster in church or out of church in times like these you're going to make your mind up in the words of mcclurkin he said i've got my mind made up and i won't turn back are you listening to me i want to see jesus someday daniel and his companions purpose in their hearts that even though they had the privilege of eating at the king's table they learned to put their principles ahead of their privileges i'm gonna say it again you can type that in the chat put your principles ahead of your privileges so at the king's table they were serving stuff but the bible said the boys kidney by the way by the way i used to eat some of those stuff you know and just in case you see my forage still shine a little of the oil of that strange animal is trying to get out of my system are you listening to me i'm talking about that pork stuff you know i used to love eating pork i had dr blue don't tease me now i used to love eating that but when i had sense enough to understand that god says there are some things that may be good for other stuff and purposes but they weren't made for food are you listening to me and and sure enough he said if the ones you're going to eat he gives instruction they've got to part the hoof and chew the cod or go eat them i know we jerk them we roast them they are god's sanitary engineers we're having too many problems in terms of ecology and in terms of uh all of the stuff because we're killing off the sanitary inspectors and engineers so the boys made i'm saying to you to help you understand if you're going to keep your hands in safe hands you're going to eat right and drink right because your body is god's temple are you listening to me you can't put stuff in there that will destroy the temple because god will hold you accountable and he threatened destruction against those who disobey are you listening to me so the boys made of them test number one comes up in the first chapter i don't know who i'm talking with but a young person listening to me right now your very salvation is in danger because you are sacrificing your integrity on the altar of expediency hear the preacher hear the preacher they were given the privilege of eating at the kingston can you imagine joe biden invite you to the white house for breakfast and lunch and dinner not just once but every day they had the privilege of eating at the table of the most powerful king the first kingdom to rule the world babylon was made a shining pearl it's hanging gardens it's systems and structures but these boys said there's some food that may be good for the king but not good for children of the king of kings i said the boys said that they are some drink and some food and some stuff that may be good for the king but it's not good for the king of kings and when you are lined up with jesus when you make your mind up that this world is so messed up you want to go to a better world you want to have a better life you've got to place your hands in safe hands that will guide you in your eating and guide you in your drinking that was challenge number one so in daniel chapter 1 606 bc we have the capture of the boys and their education in daniel 2 603 bc we have the first dream of the future of the world given to a heathen king the kingdoms of the world and he was told you are the first king you are the head of gold but after you shall arise another um hear me carefully if you're a mounted man take care of your wife if you are a married woman take care of your husband because after you [Music] shall arise another can i talk with you and when you're dead can you imagine this brother is sleeping in your king-sized bed wearing your bedside slippers feeding off the money you left in the bank but you didn't spend to take care of your wife and you tell me if he comes in your bed you're going to joke him thunder you're dead the bee has no power me carefully the king didn't like the sound of after thee shall arise another and he was told you are represented by the head of gold you know what he did even though when he ended chapter 2 he acknowledged the god the sovereignty of god he acknowledged that there is no god like this god he decided he would make an image 90 feet tall by nine feet wide made from solid gold from head to toe indicating his defiance of the vision that god gave him listen to me sir hear me president hear me prime minister hear me congressman hear me mr businessman hear me youth on the corner your hands are too short to fight against god the word of god will stand god's will will stand he sends prophecy he gives the outline of the future so you may know beyond a shadow of a doubt we are in the closing days of our history in daniels chapter 2 he gave the first king an outline of the future he said you are the head of gold he said after you will arise the president of silver he said there will be four kingdoms to rule the world and if he he described every one of them and just as god said it they came up one after the other if you ever need proof that the bible is the word of god find daniel chapter 2 and no he's the only one who can declare the end from the beginning i'm running fast so listen fast so he built this golden image he would defy the prophecy he wanted to be forever he wanted his kingdom to last forever hear me mister it doesn't matter how strong you are your words might strike fair in your employees your words might strike fear you may hire at will and fire at will you may sign death warrants listen to me but there comes a time when you'll be brought down to your waterloo hear me carefully we are not permanent fixtures like rocks in god's creation life was given to you without your asking for it and hear me young man hear me young lady life will be taken from you whether you want to let it go yes or no and in that image of daniel 2 he was told that there would be a generation living down in the toenails of the image he was brought through the divisions of europe the prophecy walked him through europe and all of its challenges and the of themselves in the days of a divided europe in the days of the fragmentation of the kingdoms of the earth the god of heaven will set up his kingdom and we are that generation living in that period of the toes of the image so he acknowledged god's sovereignty in daniel 2 at the end of the chapter he said there is no god like this god yet in daniel 3. he would challenge the vision daniel 3 593 bc we have a fiery test you know trials serve to pull some of us closer to the lord but the devil also used trials to keep some people from coming to the lord i'm going to say it again trials draw some of us closer to jesus but the devil also used trials and hardships and problems to draw some people away from the church and keep some people away from coming to jesus now if your mind is wrapped tight and you are looking at what's happening around you you know this world is a fragile place if your mind is wrapped tight if you have all your wits about you you don't even need a high school diploma to understand that this world is in trouble you just need plain common sense eyes that see ears that hear and a mind that can comprehend listen carefully in daniel chapter 3 the boys had their most awesome test ever the king made this statue of gold he called it a god and he gave a command i'm gonna read something for you he gave a command i'm in daniel the third chapter the bible said never cut unto the king verse one made an image of gold whose height was 60 cubits and it's with six give it he set it up in the plane of dura in the province of babylon and king nebuchadnezzar sent word to gather the administration the governors the councillors the treasurers the judges the magicians the magistrates all the officials of the province so hear me carefully i don't know where daniel was but the three boys daniel had requested nebuchadnezzar to promote his friends and they were made they were given high positions so they came in their capacity appointed by the king they knew what the decree says the bible said in verse 4 a herald cried allowed to to you it is commanded o people's nations languages at what time you hear the sound of the horn the flute the harp the lie of the soundtrack and symphony with all kinds of music that you fall down and worship the golden image that nebuchadnezzar has set up and whosoever does not fall down shall be cast immediately into the burning fiery furnace you and i may get to a point where not only the liberty of conscience is threatened but already there are some folk losing their jobs and losing their livelihood the world is moving in a direction where the faith and the faithfulness of those in the church and the desire of those who seek god will be challenged i did say earlier the devil is playing for keith he used his trial to pull some people out the church and he uses trial to keep some folks from coming to jesus but there's power in the hand of almighty god if you want to be saved you can be saved there's no challenge that the devil can place in your path for which god has not already made proficient for you i wish i could preach today there's no problem you have that god can't solve there's no challenge you have that god can handle there's no mountain you have to climb that god can help you over you've got to want to be saved more than you want air to breathe listen to me in safe hands in safe hands the boys knew the commandments of god they were taught the ten commandments they knew that the lord god says he is the only true and living god they knew the commandments of god says thou shalt not make unto thyself any graven images thou shalt not bow down to them hear me carefully young people in the church you've got to be rapt with the holy ghost hear me somebody who's not yet baptized you've got to know that this world has nothing to offer all you can see is more are the same but thank god there's a better day you're cross lift high his royal banner a godless world is looking in the church for some godly example an ungodly world is looking to find a godly youngster a godly male a godly female who will show the world what a real child of god looks like i haven't forgotten my subject in safe hands and i told you earlier god bless you in the most unlikely places he'll bless you among strangers he'll bless you on the enemies he'll bless you in dry places he'll cause water to flow from your dried up rock he'll cause your desert to blossom like a rose when god gets ready sometimes he'll test you to see how resilient you want to be sometimes he'll hold his hand back to see if you love him enough to serve him in spite of and regardless of when god sees that you're ready for the boys i'm talking about trials tests and triumphs so the bible said and what time you hear the sound of the music i want to read verse 8 therefore at that time meaning the time of the dedication at that time meaning the critical moment when the test will be in high gear at that time the time when it's not just their jobs on the line but their life is on the line at that time certain childhoods came forward listen to me there will always be people at your workplace there will always be people in your own church there'll be always people maybe in your own family in your community who seek to set you up are you listening to me so they came to the king and said king live forever did you not make a decree yes did you not say that any time the music is played everybody must bow down yes but king there are certain jews now look here when you were reading in the beginning of the chapter their religion was never mentioned their position was mentioned but now the chickens are coming home to roost maybe somebody had inspired the king to do this in order to trap those who they knew would be true and loyal to their god there are certain jews there are certain adventists there are certain christians because of their strange belief king because of their strange position they are in the minority we can't let the majority suffer because the minority refuse to follow what you say king there are certain jews whom you set over the affairs of the province of babylon and peace they said they don't regard you king lie king they don't regard you they do not serve your god that's true the next verse then nebuchadnezzar in rage and fury gave the command to bring shatter up meshach and abednego so they brought these men before the king did not jesus say a time is coming when its faithful remnant people may be brought before judges brought before kings brought before tribunals because of their resolute resilient resounding faith in a righteous god hear the text hear the text hear the text the king said to them is it true what i hear do you not fear me is it true what i hear do you not serve by god he said well i'm going to put aside what i hear i'm going to give you one more how to live he tells us when to worship he tells us who to worship he tells us why we worship and king we will not fall down to your image we will not bow down and our bowing down king has no it's not because we don't respect you it's because we respect god more and the bible said the bible said if you do not bow down and worship you shall be cast immediately in the midst of the fire somebody said if you don't bow you will burn but the boy said if we don't bow we can't burn because our lives are in safe hands are you listening to me the bible says in verse 16 shatter at meshach and abednego answered and said to the king o nebuchadnezzar we have no need to answer you in this matter if that is the case our god whom we you better hold me down here our god whom we serve is capital a capital b capital l and a capital e he is able well they taught me in kindergarten a long time ago he's able he's able i know he's able i know my god is able to carry me through he healed the brokenhearted is storm rage let the winds blow i'll stand up i'll let go the job i'll let go some friends but i can't let go of my jesus i can't let go of my hope he's been my help in ages fast he's my present health in the time of trouble he that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty god he saved us he's saved somebody ought to put it in the chat he's able he's you've left the church because maybe somebody did you some stuff but if you know that god is able if you know that you know that you know that you know come on back to jesus come on back now that but your money is acting funny your marriage is in trouble you want to serve god but they are social and relational issues you know that god is god you know there's no god like him you know the commandments of god must be obeyed you know the seventh day is still god's sabbath you know the call to repentance and the call to surrender and the call for baptism has come to you several times but you are dilly dallying i told you earlier the devil uses trials to keep some folk from coming to jesus what will you do when you turn over the judgment bar and hear that it's too late the boys said if you choose not to deliver us the die is cast our mind is made up we are sold out for god we are there are too many little liver cowards who call themselves christians no backbone a form of godliness but no power god needs people who stand for him so that a mad world will know that god's way is still the best way i'm almost done hang with the preacher and when they spoke to the king of their stout seen some folk features change towards you because you don't take their sides because you don't allow them to be conscious for you because you make your own mind have to serve god the way you think that god has asked you to serve him and he and he he got he got so mad and and he asked them to heat the furnace seven times hotter than it was i think had he had he left it the way it was it might have turned out to his favor but he picked the wrong number i said he picked the wrong number what he said heat the furnace seven times hotter he picked the wrong number he picked god's number i don't know what god was doing in glory but god heard his number i said god heard his number don't you know the bible said he has seven stars the seven spirits the seven churches the seven trumpets the seven letters the seven files it's god's number i said seven is god's number when he made the world in six days he never stopped but he made the seventh day sabbath out of the seventh day he picked the wrong number when he heated the furnace seven times hot out he got god's attention and god got up he got up because somebody touch his number hear me carefully follow the bible oh i i i feel happy here right now i wish i had some strength i said i feel happy here right now so so he got some strong men and they tired the boys they tied them up in their shoes they tied them up and you may not dismayed whatever tied god will take care of you and so while the boys were heaved up while they were in mid-flight i think i see gabriel taking off from glory he's moving faster i see his set of films with six wings the set of kings and trinidams they have two wins covering their feet two winds with which they fly two winds covering their faces but on this occasion they decided they could use all six wings to fly they're flying down but while somebody was saying the boy is going to land god said oh no oh no because in the fire while you are yet speaking i will answer before you call me i will answer god is a promise keeper and before the voice landed here comes jesus somebody said was no order with somebody the king said in his astonishment did we not cast three men in the midst of the fire he said but i see four i see four and the form of the fourth is like the son of god now i saved something i saved something to read it here for you you see when he asked them if they were not going to bow down and they said we will not serve your god he said i want to see which god is able to deliver you from my hands you you don't understand it he said i want to see which god let me help whose hands are you in as the prophecies of the last days of being fulfilled whose hands are you in of the everlasting gospel is being preached whose hands are you in signs of the times earthquakes in diverse places whose hands are you in backslider i ask you in these nervous days whose hands are you in young man young lady still on the wild side of life with death and disaster cove with death and accidental death and murder and so is whose hands are you in we're about to see uh sunrise in the middle of the night we're about to see uh promise and fulfillment clasping hands together whose hands are you in we're about to witness the final call of the gospel whose hands are you in we're about to hear the trumpet sound whose hands are you in we're about to hear the lord god saying he that is unjust letting beyond just steal he that is filthy let it whose hands are you in well if you want to be in safe hands put your hands in the hand of the man who steal the water if you want to be in safe hands i'm going to tell you some trust and carriers some trusted horses but we will trust in the lord god jehovah some trust in their power some trust in their intellect but their power and their intellect can't handle covet i'll put my trust in the hands of god i'll put my faith in the hands of god when sin threaten my soul i'll put my hands in the hand of the one who went to calvary i'll put
