Flying American Airlines Basic Economy from Philly to New Orleans!

good evening from Philadelphia International Airport it is about 8:15 I'm here for a 9:15 p.m. flight to New Orleans my first time going to the Big Easy and today we're flying American Airlines basic economy so first time ever flying basic economy with American Airlines so I am excited to check it out see what it's all about and I do want to note that I am by no means like a pro reviewer of these flights I just enjoy making these videos I've made one other video like this that is linked up here in the card thing check that out if you want to let me know if I'm getting better at these this is just my second one but I do travel all the time so if you're interested in travel consider subscribing to follow my other journeys are you excited to go to New Orleans so American Airlines basic economy is as no-frills as it gets you do get a carry-on bag included but there's no cheque bag included you're in like the last boarding grim possible you can't change your flight or anything like that so that's what basically it's all about you also can't choose your seat you can pay to choose your seat so we did because we wanted to sit together and also because there'd be a seat open next to us which sounds good for this late flight I want to mention that if you're flying basic economy with American you can only pay to choose your seat 48 hours before the flight we're on time for this flight choosing your own seat started at $10 per person and went all the way up to $40 based off where your seat was the $40 seats were actually main cabin extra seats and came with more legroom and complimentary beer and wine we have not eaten dinner yet so I'm gonna get Pia tino which is just outside our gate we're at a gate 3 so I went with a four cheese pizza it's just oven fired is that what they call it I've been fired a brick fire so it looks like I don't know normally what a four cheese pizza there's not green stuff you wanted me to taste the green stuff it's really hard just touch it Oh son of a gun I can't I can't let's get in on that it kind of tastes like welcome Olli I know it's not walking Molly but it kind of tastes like guacamole so our flight boards 8:45 like I said we are currently in terminal a East there's a basic economy ticket now it's not all doom and gloom on basic economy because it does come with a free carry-on bag and as well as a personal item which is pretty standard we did check a bag that was there a box Holly just dropped her fork it does come with it okay that pizza was a whopping 19 dollars how much yeah how much was your salad that's still too much good boarding process is going by so fast isn't it Holly literally it's what is the 848 in there already to our group which is the last group group nine that's insane it's gonna be a bumpy one there's a lot of turbulence yeah terrible [Music] pretty soon in the future you will think about it we just you have a chip in your head that way thank you oh good night Polly just trying to enter the plane without scanning got touch the plane Molly we have made it on to the plane when we got in that flight attendant said to put my camera away which is kind of odd no one's ever said that to me before but we'll see someone's already found the drink menu for this flight we are flying on board an Airbus a319 the seats were in a 3-3 configuration and we're overall comfortable enough at least for this several hour flight you may notice the seats didn't have an in-flight entertainment system but you can access content through your phone like movies and TV shows I skipped this because honestly I'm just not a fan of using my phone for really anything other than YouTube videos the trade table was a decent size in the legroom for my five foot eight self was alright I felt comfortable in my seat throughout the flight each seat did come equipped with an electric outlet so you could charge your devices which I'm always thankful for captain just came over the speaker to let us know that there is a critical error with the left bland G of the plane so I think we make it off because the left phalanges very important to get me off this plane no he just came on to say there was a mechanical issue they're gonna have the crews look at it's about 9:15 now when the flight supposed to leave so hopefully it gets off the ground and he said playtime for today be about two and a half hours I'm too bad the captain just said something what do you say what does that do is that the left flange no looks like we're going to be sitting here for a while maybe Oh while we wait it's a good time to ask you how you like my shirt it's now 933 we've been missing the left flank hours at this point thought it is now 9:45 30 minutes so the Balaji is still [Music] we were about to go ladies and gents the left Vilanch has been fixed I understand if you're scared the left flange is an important [Music] and I think we are about to take off [Music] [Music] welcome sign is 11 all right we have made it to New Orleans safely to our destination it's about midnight local time it wasn't a bad play just we had the delays and then for me it was hard Holly said it was on a hot flight I think it was hot good news our checked bag arrived safe and sound that means all parties are accounted for overall American Airlines basic economy not a bad deal it saved us a ton of money seriously our flights three hundred bucks for two round-trip non-stop flights from Philadelphia to New Orleans of course we did have a couple add-on fees but for some reason the computer was given us a crazy price I'm not even joking like standard economy it was like seven or eight hundred bucks more than basic and I don't know if that was just uh I think it was just a rarity for this one particular flight time but either way if you can save that much money flying basic than definitely do it if you're looking at like a 50 to 60 hour price difference there's some benefits to being you know having a standard economy ticket but overall I can recommend it I don't know about others but to me Steven value and with that being said that is going to wrap it up for this video thanks so much for watching if you
