Fix The Disk is Write Protected Error on your SSD Drive !

welcome everyone I have this SSD drive right here that is giving me an issue so it's one of these models here um that I purchased a few years back uh Crystal dis info is giving me 100% health status but this is what I'm running into so these are the two drives these are two partitions on the drive as you can see here so same model same thing B drive and the U Drive they're the part or partitions I should say not drives uh so if I go in here I right click there is no rename option there is no delete option anywhere I click it's the same thing I can't so I click delete it doesn't let me delete if I do shift delete that's shift not delete I hope it was coming out okay on the audio it's shift delete shift plus delete and it's not doing anything otherwise this is what it's supposed to do this is a working drive I'm going to create a folder in here it's shift plus delete it does a permanent delete oh I did type sorry that was not intentional though delete so if you do this it permanently delet delet a file on a computer Windows 10 Windows 11 uh so I see all the options delete rename uh these options are missing from all of my folders basically so right click there is no rename delete nothing so if I do what's using this file it doesn't give me anything either like I thought maybe so if I run it as an administrator so this this button right here says you should run this as an admin or restart as an administrator so I'm going to Grant myself administrator access it says administrator at the top left file lockmith it says no results so nothing is locking it there's nothing going on behind the scenes but I can't seem to delete so again anything that you have you can create more folders of working this is a working drive hit delete you can delete the folder rename and whatnot right so and if I do shift delete it permanently deletes it it says permanently delete this folder so I say yes sure why not uh however on these drives if I go into this folder for example it's a scripts folder that I created I can edit them or not edit them I can read the files so I can copy this file for example if I wanted to control C or I should just do copy there's a copy option option so copy option there's no so if you I don't know if you can notice this but the paste is gred out you saw that something came up it's like it's locked so but if I go on the working Drive I do the paste it works so if I go back to the broken drive or locked Drive I should say it's not broken technically um do an edit okay so let's say let's change something here so I change that I hit close it's going to ask me to save yes I want to save it it's asking me to save to a different location it doesn't want to save to this file itself or folder location itself or I can't do anything I can't do a right operation so this video is going to be probably me searching on the internet what the issues might be because if there are no fixes for it I might have to just uh do a full clone of this drive to another drive and then basically do a format on this and then go from there so I'll have to just do the format I think that's great out as well like actually if I think about it now no actually format should work well let's not do that right now uh hit close um and same thing with the so these two partitions are the ones that are giving me problem I think I can rename them let's try doing a quick rename see if it actually works so as a as a quick test I'm going to put underscore in there you need an admiss yes sure and it didn't otherwise so for example let's go to this drive let's rename that toore TB and it changed it right so but for this drive and for this drive I can't even rename them so I am kind of stuck here so again so they're locked they're again same thing different folders that I had that I was trying to open hopefully they would open but nothing is working um I don't know if there's something here that I haven't really Googled any of these yet so this is my first time trying to search for a solution for this problem uh so I thought I make a video about it because apparently it's not because it's not uncommon I guess but this is uh SSD so it shouldn't have this real ssds usually fail like either they're on or off they're immediately fail so I'm wondering if it's about to fail there's some issues with that so but let let's try Google Google's always there right for everyone to kind of search what's happening what's not happening locked SSD drive unable to write or delete so fixes to remove right protections uh how do I wipe so again it's not uh this FSE right protectors can't be deleted it's not right protected because I didn't do anything to this drive S when stop and so if SSD worked then stop then it locked in read mode it happens when this is the end of life or some of them when there's bios bugs that and and it drives lives after at time uh it's not that old to be honest I don't think it's that old so it might be that you know this SSD is done for so but there are some fixes that um they're saying I don't think this got any warranty left on it uh so there are some Google help topics out there that we can try I suppose and there was one that I noticed earlier was as I'm sure that used registry there is I think this is it uh protction using hisry now we get to the full steps so we are going to open red edit one R edit and we are going to go to this location you just copy that and you paste it in the top window or top address bar here will take me to that location so you don't have to look for it or anything so Storage storage device policy storage there's storage there are no storage device policies so find and double click right protect so I am not sure if I even do I see that I don't even see that well let's just do this then I don't think I even have that so oh yeah it's not there after this you can hijack your modif use this you run and software yeah I'm not going to do that well I I think I can do a format so I might have to just do a copy and paste because I don't see this value I don't know I I think this drive might be either done for if it doesn't work or there isn't any oh there it is I can try this remove repetion using command line I can do that I can make sure that Sol is we just did we just did that we don't even have that so oh okay let's see double click right protect change one to zero there are no storage so maybe in here I can see somewhere here on the left side lost boot storage no there's nothing to do with storage let's go in the storage folder that we saw what's in there so storage N All State so I'm looking for right protect I don't think I will see it so here is the storage management as well so let's go in here I don't see any policies related to storage so I don't have it so I'm not sure okay if you can't find St step two there's right click control new key I guess we can do that can't find the SE right if you can't find right click control choose new key where do I right click in step two step two nigate the following well I don't see storage device policies so here's the thing it says if you can't find the storage device under control in step two so step two is this we going to this uh yes we can't find it right click the control so I guess we right clicking the control let's do that right click the control we're going to create a new key and we are going to create a new key called storage device policies rename that story device policies and new dword 32bit we're going to call it right protect so again right click new d word 32 and we're going to give it the value right protect and we're going to say modify change the value to zero in the problem so we can change that to well it is already zero but let's do it again xod decimal set zero and and do I have to restart I am not sure so oh wait a second I renamed it wrong storage device policies just notice that [Music] policies and in there we have this dword right protect set to Val zero we're going to close registry editor and I'm going to go back in this I don't see rename delete or anything so I can't do that uh scripts nothing I can't I can't do a copy paste here so this paste is R out I can copy it I can copy it to different location but I can't paste it it works on a different drive so that didn't help um they're saying do a bad seure test so um we can do that let's try properties hardware tools um it says do the check here we fall erors to they're going to try repairing it B set well it is right protected that's the problem the dis is right protected so I can't do that either so let's try this command line run as [Music] administrator list dis list oh dis I think I have to do dis part right yeah they forgot to mention no there it is never mind I forgot I didn't read properly this part we're going to do list dis it's going to show me all my drives uh okay uh which one is this I think it's it is not 500 gigs is it no it's one terabyte one terab one terab so it's either this guy this guy how would I know uh does it tell me you might run into the same problem because if you have multiple drives you don't know I guess I can go to computer management so Under Computer management I should be able to see the drives uh disk number so go to Disk Management I have a USB a new Drive attached so that I be using that's what you saw the popup so this zero is not this so if I go under B and U so these are disk number one so it's dis number one so again go to start computer management run as administrator or even just normal user you should still be able to see the Disk Management option and then you can see what drive it is so it's so depending on the partition you have for me it's disk number one so disk number one now that we have identified it uh we're going to do select select dis number one now that selected I should probably do a backup but okay well okay so it says it's selected it says attributes let's try it this clear read only oh okay that did something uh hit enter this C is cleared so let's go into B drive go into my scripts folder oh my God that was it nice so we have a fix so if you run do the same problem that I just showed you guys this works it's not the registry it's not anything else so let's look at the regist registry file it should still open in the same one and it's still there and nothing it's still the same and I'm going to just delete that because I don't want something new and I should still be able to do this can I edit the file I can I put dcp2 close and save wow okay so for whatever reason it was set to read only so not sure how I did it or how somebody else or how it did it by itself uh there you go that's it that's the fix so to remove a dis protection a right protection from SSD that's what you need to do I will have to figure out how to replicate the problem uh if like just to kind of figure out why it did that so you don't end up doing it yourself there it might be a different video or something but I I don't know why this would happen anyways the problem is fixed so I'm happy about it I can go ahead because I was trying to delete some files make some room then possibly move it over to a different computer if it was a sh bad or something I I don't use that on the computer for much so but it says it's 100% heal so I'm happy I'm sure you'll be you're able to fix your problem but if it didn't help all these steps did not help uh well let's see if if if this works uh you might actually have a bad drive so if I do properties tools and I do a check okay okay so probably what happened was that I did a scan and it found some issues uh so let me try the scanning real quick see if it actually does find any issues uh so it did find it okay it's asking me to repair the drive uh so I might do that not sure what I'm going to see in the events here because if I do a right click or on this tool itself uh if I do repair it will probably do a restart on this computer and my recording will stop so I'm not going to do that it's not giving me that option anymore okay so this is probably what happened let's see if this is actually locked again we're going to go back in scripts and we're going to do right click no it's not locked I thought I thought this is what causes it to lock that I ran the scan it detected some problems and it locked it so I'm going to exit this part uh so yeah that might be it um that might have been the problem to begin with might have done a scan didn't finish I'm guessing on restart probably found a bad sector and it locked it so that could be it anyways it's working I'm going to do a scan offline and I will if I can finish that before I upload the video I'll post the results in terms off if it was the dis issue with the bad sectors I don't know bad sectors ssds probably I suppose anyways uh thanks a lot for watching and listening to me blah about oh what happened what didn't happen uh I hope you stay
