Sorry for your loss, until Valhalla. And I will probably get hate for this but it needs to be said. Do not be afraid to be sensitive. Do not be afraid to be considerate. We're all great at standing up for the brother to the right and left of us if they are in physical danger, do not be afraid to stand up for them if they are in emotional danger or mental danger too. Do not encourage drinking, I know it's part of all of us but it just makes things worse. Do not make fun of each other's feelings, even if it's a joke. Yeah I know I sound like a pussy right now, but each of these little nuances of our fucked up culture all create the domain we have where 22 of our buddies would rather blow their brains out each day then go on trying to solve their problems. We've been to hell and back, but now hell is our home. It doesn't have to be this way marines.
Lost a Sgt last month. RIP brother. Sorry to hear about your loss. Its all of our loss as well. No one ever wants to hear a fellow Marine going down that path. None of us should ever feel alone and helpless.
Just wanted to check-in and say thank you. He was borderline homeless (mostly bumming places to live), drugging and boozing. Then, he came into a little money that I had hoped would get him going in a positive direction, but after a week or two of goodness, he descended into hell and took a gun to himself.
And to that one brother who PM'd me because he's hurting? Thank you for doing that. We'll get you pointed in the right direction. Together.
