First Friday Eucharistic Adoration - Friday 4 February, 2022 @ 7.00 P.M.

[Music] a very good evening my dear friends we will now begin this hour of adoration by welcoming the lord with the him lord i lift your name on [Music] is [Music] from [Music] [Music] we are now in the powerful presence of our lord we are here to worship him to adore him and to glorify him let us gaze at our lord who is present here for us he is present here as our savior as our eucharistic lord today being the first friday of the month we have the special devotion to the sacred heart of jesus the sacred heart of jesus is an icon of god's unending love for us as we hear in the scriptures john 3 16 that god so loved the world that he gave his only son so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son the entire paschal mystery of christ which is his incarnation his birth his life here on earth his passion his death and his resurrection and the coming of the holy spirit the entire christ event if it has to be summarized it would be in these words that god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son jesus was the visible face of the invisible god his heart reveals to us the love of the father as well that's why we see his heart ablaze with fire that fire that represents god's love for us let us look at jesus let us gaze at him perhaps we had a long day today with all our work allah chores perhaps some of us are tired perhaps some of you are unwell recovering from your sickness or still going through pain perhaps some of you are alone right now in your house perhaps some of you are sitting together as a family in front of the blessed sacrament some are rejoicing perhaps right now for all the blessings that christ has showered for his powerful presence in your life right now maybe you may be thanking god you have a grateful heart for everything for good health and for your family for the many wonderful things that he's been doing to you and you are here to thank him maybe some of you are going through a moment of pain loneliness inner struggle confusion you're sitting in front of the lord now begging him for his mercy for his for his intervention in your life to answer your prayer to calm your fears to heal you to take away your pain to grant you peace reconciliation forgiveness the beautiful thing about our lord is he knows what you are going through right now that is the meaning of being present no human being can do that only our lord can do that when he says he is present for us it means that he knows who we are and what we are going through perhaps things that we ourselves don't know he knows because he is present for us that's the miracle of the blessed sacrament that jesus has given us his presence is just not a symbolic presence of of his resurrection but he is truly present christ has real presence in the blessed sacrament and that's whom we adore and worship right now we are in the real presence of the lord sure you are away from this particular place but the very fact that you have turned down your devices be it on your mobile phones or on your televisions or on your laptops or whatever device and you're gazing at the screen and you believe that you are in the presence of the lord you are united in spirit christ is present for you right now christ knows all that you're going through right now he rejoices with you for all your blessings he holds your hands and he says my child my beloved one i know what you're going through right now he is putting his hand on your shoulder and saying do not fear for i am here for you this very moment i am here for you christ is present for you right now look at him we see the merciful face of jesus in the blessed sacrament don't forget that god has claimed you for his own you and i belong to him as much as you crave to belong to god god rejoices in you he rejoices to say that you are his malaki chapter 3 17 be here they shall be mine says the lord of hosts they shall be mine says the lord of hosts in the days when i make up my my treasured possession and i will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him they are mine you are god's priced possession god loves you those are not empty words that's the truth god loves you and this love of god is real it is as real as jesus himself god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son let that power of jesus's presence touch you right now in the silence of your heart tell jesus jesus touch me come into my life embrace me jesus let me feel your presence right now in my life let me enjoy the privilege of your presence let it calm my fears let it take away my pain let it heal my wounds let it destroy my pride let it burn my sins and reveal the need for my repentance and the gift of a penitent heart come into my heart lord let your fire warm my heart let the coldness of my pride let the coldness of my my indifference like the coldness of my selfishness that the coldness of my disbelief be burnt away by the fire of your love touch my life oh lord as we experience the presence of jesus in our midst let us sing the hymn power of your love and as we sing let us truly mean those words that is acknowledge that god's power the god's love has power right now for our lives to touch us and to transform our lives [Music] lord i come to you let my heart be changed [Music] the weaknesses [Music] oh [Music] [Music] is yes [Music] my to the place [Music] [Applause] [Music] um [Music] [Music] coming to your side [Music] is [Music] [Music] as we are in the presence of our beloved lord and we as we enjoy his presence as we allow the power of his love to enter into our lives and transform it let us meditate on his love and mercy even as i read the scriptures for you and share the reflection that be a moment of interaction between you and the lord we call this a holy hour why because it's set apart to be with the lord in a very special way god is present with us all the time there's no one moment in our life that god leaves us at this very moment we become conscious we make ourselves present for the lord in a very special way we bring our minds our bodies our heart to the lord to listen to him and to let his love enter our lives read for you from the gospel of luke chapter 15. now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear him and the pharisees and the scribes grumbled saying this man receives sinners and eats with them so he told them this parable what man of you having a hundred sheep if he has lost one of them does not leave the 99 in the open country and go after the one that is lost until he finds it and when he has found it he lays it on his shoulders rejoicing and when he comes home he calls together his friends and his neighbors saying to them rejoice with me for i have found my sheep that was lost just so i tell you there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over 99 righteous persons who need no repentance the gospel of the lord jesus christ even as we gaze at our lord in the blessed sacrament let us allow those words to re-echo in our minds and in our hearts are powerful words and when he has found it he will lay it on his shoulders rejoicing the shepherd doesn't waste time in rebuking or punishing or instructing his response his immediate response is to elevate the sheep to put it on the shoulder and to rejoice dear friends the sacred heart of jesus reminds us of god's mercy the mercy that is ever present especially when we are down broken vulnerable feeling weak feeling lost feeling abandoned feeling rejected that heart of jesus is burning for you right now i'm reminded of a story of a young man who was returning home after 20 years on the way as he journeys on the train he has a conversation with a fellow passenger an old man as they get to know each other the old man asks this young man where are you going and the young man shares his story this tragic story says i'm coming back home after 20 years 20 years ago i encountered a terrible something very terrible happened to me in my life i'd lost my way given into bad habits and got into drugs and had no control over myself and once when i was high and i got into a fight and i ended up killing a person this tragic event destroyed my life and also that of my family i am the only son for my father and my mother they loved me so much but i never appreciated their love i always robbed from them and caused all sorts of pain to them it's been 20 years now i have finished my term in the prison but i don't know whether my father will welcome me back in my last mail that i sent to my father i told him i don't deserve your love but i i will take a chance to come back home and my house is just by the side of the railway track just before the station and i told my father that if you want me back if i deserve even little bit of your mercy tie a white cloth on the tree outside when i pass by i will know that you are ready to welcome me but if i don't see a white cloth on the tree outside the house i will not come home and so the young man requests his fellow passengers he says sir i don't have the courage to look at the tree as the train passes by would you mind spotting the tree for me i'll tell you when it is come when it is about to come and tell me if there is a white cloth on the tree and as the train passes the young man looks down scared to look at the tree and after that when that house is passed by he asks his fellow passenger the old man he asks sir tell me was there a cloth on the tree the old man replies son there was not one cloth on the tree but i saw a tree that was full of white clothes ribbons tied on it the whole tree was wrapped with white ribbons i guess that's your house dear friends that explains to us how eagerly god is waiting for you right now to enter your life and to transform it like the good shepherd who rejoices in your return our lord waits for you right now to welcome you to himself to comfort you to bandage you to wipe your tears to embrace you and to tell you above all you are mine i will risk anything to save you like the good shepherd who left the 99 in the wilderness risked their safety for that one that was lost our lord is telling you today my son my daughter my brother my sister i love you my heart is full of mercy for you give yourself to me don't be afraid trust in my love and mercy i shall rejoice when you come back home look at jesus the one who is inviting you to belong to him you know what you need you know what you're going through right now you know what the savior wants what you want from the savior right now speak to him prophet mika reminds us who is a god like you pardoning iniquity and passing over transgressions for the remnant of his inheritance who does not retain his anger forever because he delights in steadfast love he delights in steadfast love dear friends let us now first ask the lord to free us from our sins a repentant heart is truly a gift of god true repentance comes through the gift of the holy spirit it is his working if at all we feel that we don't need there's no need for our repentance and there's another problem that problem is called pride right now ask the lord to touch you and heal you let us ask for the gift of repentance and if you're aware of something that you need forgiveness for perhaps you're struggling with your relationship time and again you have let your anger hurt the very people you love your husband your wife your children your in-laws your relatives your friends your colleagues your staff at work and you are unable to control your anger you let those that anger to spill out in terms of hurtful words perhaps you're still bitter within your heart that you're unable to let go of of someone who has hurt you before who has cheated you or betrayed your trust abused you and that hurt is a big burden on you jesus tells you cast your burden unto me yes he is the only one who can take away your burden let go and let christ in there's great peace when you do so when you forgive and when you ask for forgiveness when you ask for forgiveness it is given to you because our lord is more eager to grant pardon and to bring you back then sometimes that you yourself ready to come back perhaps you need the lord right now to find strength to face your present and your tomorrow perhaps right now you're afraid you're afraid about your job your work perhaps you're afraid of your finances especially during these past years due to the pandemic things have been very difficult for you you don't know how you're going to meet your ends the burden becomes heavier and heavier every day trust in the lord look at him he knows how heavy your burden is there is great relief when you surrender sometimes we may be carrying heavy burdens and somehow we fail to understand that we need to in order to receive comfort we need the trust to let go into the hands of god that trust but instead we continue to worry worse sometimes we even try to find solutions apart from our lord that's against our lord giving into addictions giving into ways that are not ethical we try to solve problems that's apart from our lord right now surrender your fear to the lord the lord tells you do not fear i am here for you he will give you the strength to see your tomorrow you your imagination may not go as far as to find a solution and that's why you're afraid because you as it were you're walking in darkness you don't know what's your tomorrow what's your future all your plans seem seem to fail they don't seem to be working true as human beings we feel afraid of things that we don't know but that's where faith comes into play the lord who's present here he sees everything he knows he holds you in his hands and he will carry you through trust in him surrender your burden your fears to him don't be afraid perhaps some of you are struggling with pain right now with sickness with old age pain so intolerable that sometimes you say why should i suffer so much why won't god take away my pain and sometimes you feel like i've reached the end of my strength i can't take another step forward you feel helpless you feel broken look at the lord he is your strength he has not abandoned you think of that lost sheep which is caught up in the bush in darkness lost it had no hope of that good shepherd coming back it might have thought what a crazy thing that i've done that i've gone away from the flock i'm stuck now caught up in and i'm just going to be food for a wild beast who will save me it couldn't imagine the good shepherd coming back but the good shepherd did come rescue the lost sheep so no matter how desperate and how hopeless your situation seems right now you may not be able to see a way out of it but remember your savior does he will search you out he will rescue you he will comfort you he will give you the strength that you need to bear your pain to see your tomorrow to find meaning for your living trust him perhaps you're one of them who's feeling very lonely right now feeling rejected perhaps you're old or you're living by yourself or you may just be living with your spouse who's also old or maybe for some reason your marriage has not worked and you're living as a single with your children at times you may be living in a house full of people but yet there's not one of them with whom you can live with with whom you can share your heart and so feeling lonely lost in the crowd that's how limited human relationships are their conditional love we fail people when we love we work we we try hard to love people but yet we fail but don't lose hope look at the lord when he says i love you he means it he is the only one who can say i love you unconditionally he has the power to love that's what he is he is love and he has the power to help you out of your loneliness of your sadness of your brokenness he has the power to put that spirit of joy into your heart that when you recognize that you belong to him there will be joy in your heart in spite of being rejected by all but yet the very realization that you belong to jesus will bring joy to your heart will bring peace to your heart those are not empty words that heart that burns for you is not a figment of imagination it is real our lord is real his love for us is real he tells you i'm here for you trust me i will comfort you i will turn your sorrow into joy i will wipe your tears i'm here for you acknowledging god's love for us let us rejoice and let us sing this hymn god still loves the world that is even as we sing let the joy penetrate our hearts let that joy take control of our being and let that warmth of god's love penetrate our inner being [Music] never captivating you [Music] those who danced is [Music] day by day [Music] [Music] sweet [Music] fascinating news to those who dare to is [Music] [Music] is loving you and [Applause] [Music] me baby [Music] dear friends saint paul reminds us that we need to rejoice in the lord always that we need to give him thanks [Music] first chronicles 16 34 we read oh give thanks to the lord for he is good for his steadfast love endures forever the right response at the face of god's love and mercy is thankfulness and gratitude our prayers would be incomplete if we fail to thank and glorify him worship welcomes from a grateful heart true worship to the lord springs from a heart that is soaked in the mercy of god let us spend a few moments now to worship our lord who's present here for us let our worship be that of thanksgiving of praise let us look at the lord and let us thank him for the gift of our lives the fact that we have another month another day to worship him to behold him the fact that he has gifted us faith to come before him and to surrender our lives to him it's a gift let us thank him for that if we are alive today it means he has chosen us to be alive right now he's chosen to bless us with life let us thank him let us thank him for our family [Music] one of the most beautiful gifts that god has given us our family members imperfect though they may be but yet they are gifts to us by god let us thank for every single person in our in our lives in our religious communities for our parents for our spouse for our children our extended family members for each one of them let us thank our lord for them let us thank god for the gift of good health in spite of all that is going through if you are able to sit down and pray it's god's gift [Music] let us thank god for keeping us secure safe even if we had gone through sickness and disease he has healed us and he has protected us and he continues to protect us let us thank him for that [Music] let us thank our lord for providing for us no matter how hard we work unless the lord provides for us we shall not be satisfied a farmer can only sow but the growth is given by the lord we can only put in our efforts into our work but the reward is from the lord for if we are enjoying the benefits of life if we are provided if you have a house if you have shelter food clothing all the basic necessities met let us thank them they are gifts that god has given us he has provided us let us thank the lord for the world that he has provided us [Music] our civil society our communities our world at large by becoming one of us god has become part of this human family art of creation his own creation and we enjoy this transformed the saved world through his death and resurrection for every wind that for every rain for every season they're all part of god's great plan and we thank him for it [Music] and finally i invite you to thank god for something very personal that you want to lift your heart up to god something that god has done to you and you know that your heart realms with joy and gratitude to the lord and thank him thank him from the depth of your heart for being real in your life for loving you and for answering your prayers [Music] [Music] [Music] therefore we receive the final blessings i would like to invite you for an act of consecration to the sacred heart of jesus today being the first friday we consecrate ourselves and our families to the sacred heart of jesus our prayer that is written by sin margaret mary elect i invite you to feel comfortable if you're comfortable kneel in front of the blessed sacrament with the entire family or whatever posture that you are in what matters is your inner disposition that in your heart you believe that you are con you are receiving and being consecrated to the sacred heart of jesus let your spirit and mind and body be present for this moment of consecration even as i say the prayer i invite you to say it in the silence of your heart and to surrender yourself o sacred heart of jesus to thee i consecrate and offer my person and my life along with my family and all my beloved ones my actions trials and sufferings that my entire being may henceforth only be employed in loving honoring and glorifying thee this is my irrevocable will to belong entirely to thee and to do all for thy love renouncing with my whole heart all that can displease thee i take thee o sacred heart for the soul object of my love the protection of my life the pledge of my salvation the remedy of my frailty and inconsistency the reparation for all the defects of my life and my secure refuge at the hour of my death be thou almost merciful heart my justification before god thy father and screen me from his anger which i have so justly merited i fear all from my own weakness and malice but placing my entire confidence in thee or heart of love i hope all from thine infinite goodness annie hilaid in me all that can displease or resist thee imprint thy pure love so deeply in my heart that i may never forget thee or be separated from thee i beseech thee through thine infinite goodness grant that my name be engraved upon thy heart for in this i place all my happiness and all my glory to live to die as one of thine devoted
