we're Eamon and Bec and over the last 14 weeks we've converted this empty cargo van into our home and while construction isn't quite finished we've moved in full-time so to help us readjust to tiny living we've headed three hours east of Toronto to escape the heat and enjoy some nature first things first coffee a lot of work for a little bit of coffee in the morning she makes some weird beeping noises while we wait for the induction to heat up I'm going to show you quickly how easy it is to go from bed mode to lounge mode in this new build and so I just lift the sheet off there tuck that into the other one like so and then I think you guys have seen this in our build series it's so easy and I kind of am loving and understanding why people love the fixed bed because you don't have to really make your bed every day but I mean you have to make your bed you don't have to make your bed...what are you going on about hah was just beeping a lot ready for my morning joe! induction did we make a mistake? morning cuppa Joe 5 hours later so to begin our van life journey once again we've come northeast up to my aunt and uncle's cottage where I lived and loved two weeks of summer since I was 5 years old so we feel very lucky to be here as we work out some of the kinks of our new build a very appropriate place to talk about van life security because although up here we don't need any security a lot of times you do want that extra peace of mind so we're going to tell you more about that very very soon what we're doing to stay safe in the van but first Becca's uncle has got a plane we're gonna buy a hanger one day? we're gonna have to! flying out of Smiths Falls Airport there's no tower so basically we just need to observe and look for other planes which your call sign Eamon? Oscar Mayer wiener well I'm sold Bec we're getting an airplane that was an unexpected morning this is breakfast at 2 o'clock look at that underbelly roasted delicious and we are heading back to the van to do some work the rest of the Moroney gang is gonna play some croquet watching a little and yes because it's the heat of the day but I'm also super grateful for our Moon Shade awning a huge thank you to the team at Moon Shade for sponsoring today's video and sending us another awning for Casa B it's time you set her up so we don't sweat baby or.... minimal sweat baby! you guys have seen us enjoy our moonshade in Spain and Morocco and we're so excited that it's finally available for purchase so you can head to the link in our description box and use code EAMONANDBEC for 10% off if you're interested in one of these dope ass awnings these versatile awnings actually just got even more versatile because they're now including magnets which is amazing because you can mount it to the back of the van inside of the van anywhere camping you don't even need to have a van yeah I'm really excited that we've got this shade today because it was pouring into the house for those of you wondering yes Eamon goes everywhere with his tools since our van life break-in in Spain there are three things we're upgrading and changing to make this van the most secure possible the first one is these HEO solution locks these are made in Germany and we were gonna test them out they look very legit step aside step aside hopefully when we go out for the day this safe will keep our valuables well safe double lock the van is gonna be a safe and then this is gonna be a safe and the last thing is we are gonna put cameras in here sensor activated cameras so we'll have a signal in here and we can actually check on our van anywhere in the world using our phones so let's start with this little box okay the big wow there's actually this little box and then we'll get into this little box okay so he OH safe makes these locks for all different vans Sprinter Promaster transit and they fit exactly for the van so with the Sprinter this thing will actually sit on this groove here when you turn the lock that solid piece of metal will hit another piece of metal on the wall and the door is not able to open sweet deadbolt babies and while we weren't 100% sure on how the burglars got into our van in Spain where 99.9 percent sure it was through the front door which was locked but sprinters are known for being quite easy to just get into shouldn't really say that should I but that's the truth so this will be an extra level of security and I'm sure it'll feel really good to have that send it down so it fits in this hole remember about a year and a half ago when Eamon said he wants to get in shape yes let's pan over to him now now that we've secured the passenger side door we're on to driver side for me come and get me you see the lock is up unlock and you still can't get in wait what see you bud the one that goes on the side and back doors is a little different it goes on the outside and you'll mouth it like this and then to lock the door it goes over now if you've seen other RV locks before don't be fooled they're not all the same okay if you can just slowly open this door very very slowly I need to make sure this clears then we got one shot at this right in the center yeah and just a tough pretty tough bang are we really letting me do this that's perfect that scared me but it was perfect so far this install is going swimmingly but let's not for the sliding door the walk should be positioned about 10cm centimeters above the rail train it ball can't read there we've got a problem with shankru please check before drilling that the door passes the lock without any difficulties well that wasn't exactly the perfect end to a workday but the best part about being up here is when you're finished with your work you get to jump in the lake good morning it's a new day and we lost you yesterday for good reason something very very magical happened on this dock let's show her be nervous you're cute that was special that's nothing compared to what else we've been working on we've got complete 180 weather from yesterday it looks like it's gonna rain so we're gonna head up to man and try to get some things done before well we get rain done we're all crumbling down you know I have my first breakdown all right well the van is a disaster so I think before we bust any tools out ten-second tidy that's the best part about van like 1 2 3 go sorry I interrupted you Hidy we're gonna move on to today's project just to quickly touch on yesterday's little mishap with the side door we did read the instructions it says to install 10 centimeters above the rail and then there'll be no problem for clearance we're gonna wait to fix that until we get back to Toronto and also we're gonna wait to do the back door install read those instructions folks that's something that you should do that's why I got you bro I brought them to you yesterday I said 10 centimeters about but you didn't listen door passes the lock without any difficulties a man's about to install our knife rack which we loved in Trinity we're going black this time thanks IKEA I love when people know why we've got a funnel JT just thoughts about the new pee funnel yeah lady at the store definitely thought it was for beer pong she's like mmm I know what this is for I was like no yeah now I know you guys are used to seeing a man on his one wheel cruising around town but did you ever think you'd see me on a one wheel cruising around town let it go hey Bruce Bruce drop it so in our family if Bruce picks up the ball wherever he puts that ball down that's where you have to hit it from so Adam and a man are having it out for each other he's trotting with the buoy go good morning everyone wow what a noisy night yeah is our first really big thunderstorm in the van and everything held up wonderfully we just have to close a few windows and honestly the moon shades survived everything was good and greedy did tie down the moon shade last night and it held up like a champ it's been so wonderful just getting to know this new van and all of its little quirks I have a few bruises these side windows although there were a royal pain in the ass to install they are such a pleasure to have we CH have our own window you can hear the nature and then we turn the top fan here on suction and it just pulls this beautiful gentle breeze in so we're so spoiled here oh my gosh the setup has been so premium I've been pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to set up and tear down our bed Plus having this layout has really allowed us to have so many people in here comfortably the other night we had all my siblings over for a little party and it was so fun and obviously the space is only gonna get more functional as we get things working water electrical lights and that's all going to be ticked off this week but there's one question we have still yet to answer and that is what will our future look like when we built out Casa B it was to travel Canada and our East Coast is actually still closed to tourism any kind so we've been wondering where are we gonna go in this van what are we gonna do what's next which brings us to the possibility of maybe for edge town being up here a notice just like Aria ppreciate how much we love being by the water we loved having the project of building the van so we've actually been visiting some fixer-upper places around here like this one maybe even a vacant lot where we start from nothing oh gosh this is one of the fixer-uppers on an island we've come by a few times few times but I don't think island life is for us yeah but really beautiful right talk about a view we'd love to hear your feedback on you know the idea of an off-grid fixer-upper cabin type of thing or just traveling around Ontario our home province it's hard to imagine us doing anything other than getting electricity in our van but we're always thinking about what's next we might have to sell oh my left testicle - oh my gosh let's go buddy I'm not sure if we mentioned but right now we are in the Rideau Lake system so it's near Ottawa but we are kind of open to land basically where we can afford it and I don't know I think we might put the camera down and enjoy the rest of the day because tomorrow we're going back to the city we'll see you Sunday okay croquet felt really good out there just excited that all the artwork paid off in the off season competition this week wasn't great but you know wins the win and I'll take it yep thanks Melissa we're here with the last place positioner Beck Maroney and I just had a couple questions for you if you don't mind don't forget I just want a game of cards inside so what would your strategy going into the today's event typically I like to focus and really do a great job and yeah and how does it feel knowing that you lost as someone who's never even played croquet before and there you have it folks a sore loser you
