FIRST DAY WITH NO EXPERIENCE - SURVIVAL TRUCKING | DAY 1

hello everybody and welcome to survival trucking so this is a brand new series from me another one to add to the list of survival video series that i do uh but i think yeah it's about time i did bring back ets2 on the channel and this is the best way of doing it i think so we are going to be doing an episode probably once a week uh that is my current estimate but yeah there's obviously quite a few things that need to be changed as the series progresses uh such as the way we should actually go about doing things like should we take out loans should we not take our loans different trucks that we should get should we use different mods uh today is just going to be a bit of a starting off episode so no better way to start than by creating a new profile yes i have level 50 on here but we're gonna have to not use that one i'm gonna go for a completely fresh start by the way this is the first video i've recorded since the 23rd of december so yeah i'm back hopefully had a fantastic christmas um i did it was very good although yeah a little bit different to normal so um i think i don't want to be called dagwin i think we should just have a more normal sounding name show which code derrick uh as for surname i don't know i can't think of let's just yeah we'll keep it simple it's derek uh now yes i i don't have a photo of myself on here i don't think they're derek's i usually go with this chap here no idea who he is but he is the chosen one for this series and yeah i think for this i'm going to go with the daf company logo yeah that's good um yes a normally called dagger and logistics i don't think derek's logistics sounds i think we'll go with diagon logistics there we go and yep that should all be good as for the mod manager yeah we do need to have the pro mods i have decided to go with pro mods and the dlcs that just comes naturally as you need the dlcs for pro mods and also this fantastic trailer packages here that is actually on the steam workshop if you're looking to use it i do recommend it it's fantastic that's all the real brands to the game so confirm the changes and we will make a good start okay so here we go we can choose where to put our headquarters where we're going to start and i think really although it would make really good sense to sort of have it in a very central location in the playable area of europe i think i'm actually not going to do that i'm going to start in the uk i'm from the uk and in pro mods the uk is actually quite impressive unlike the base game version of um of ets 2. although i believe they are working on it at some point can't wait until they do it should be really good but yeah um we can start in the uk it would make sense as well because i have a right-hand drive lorry at least i will do um cambridge i think would be my chosen location because it's very close to all the different crossings here and yeah we'll definitely go up to scotland as well probably going to into ireland over here and northern ireland but yeah i just want to be in this sort of area to start off with so we will confirm the selection uh no we don't need to have the tutorial i've played many hours of ets2 and we'll begin i have been trying to fine-tune the audio levels but yeah it's hard to tell if i've got it right yet so our first job which is pre-selected is cambridge to london okay not very far used packaging but we have to start somewhere 1256 pounds so yeah that is quite a small start beautiful absolutely beautiful and here we are our very first load in a daff xf 70 reg is that possible isn't this an older model anyway not to worry uh yeah the daf y510 and i do need to start the engine to build the air pressure i do have the air brake simulation enabled and also i've actually put the realistic fuel consumption on as well i do want this to be as challenging as possible and of course i'm sticking to speed limits as much as i can do i can get fined if i don't stick to speed limit so obviously get fined if i can crash in somebody and all those sort of things yeah we won't be able to move yet low air pressure but that is fine i would wait for it to build as we prepare a few things 51 miles i'll show you the map yes it's going to be a very short first journey but it wants to be really so yeah the way it's going to work is we're going to work for somebody we're an employee and every time we get to a place we'll hopefully be able to get another load from that place to the next place so we're still gonna be exploring and expanding um our playable area sort of thing but yes we only have 1750 pounds and we do need to look towards buying our own lorry that is the plan so it's gonna be the cheapest model i would imagine the first one um but yeah i look forward to this anyway i'm just gonna jump cut as that pressure builds and there we go i've waited for the pressure to build we're now above the halfway point so the alarm has gone off we've got 20 tons and it's gonna take we've got five hours 16 minutes remaining probably won't take too long it's only 51 miles so yeah this is going to be the most effort from me ever put into an egs2 series i really hope i succeed with it it's gonna be the most realistic i can play i'm gonna do everything i can so the roads do seem fairly quiet just need to reduce the sensitivity of the mouse there we go that's better sticking speed limits not handbrake turning around corners and i would love to hear all of your opinions on the series all your opinions will be used to influence the series the upcoming series the upcoming episodes so that we can make this as good as possible um i do only have one thing to say and that is the double sun have we do have a double sign of as you can see uh i'm looking to keep the heads up display the one on the screen not the integrated one in the lorry here to me it's just better i know it's probably it is more unrealistic it's like a floating screen but i would prefer to have that it's just going to make it easier so whenever i buy my first truck i'm going to make sure it doesn't have a sat nav integrated so that i can not have the double sound off because i know it doesn't annoy some viewers obviously it would make sense to follow an integrated one but to me it's just gonna make it more tricky and i want this to be challenging but i don't want it to be frustrating so um yes as i say please do post your opinions down below and i'm already loving pro mods fantastic i think there's only one thing which could ruin this episode and that is the sound levels now i have tried to make the audio of the game and my narration balanced very tricky to do surprisingly tricky to do so hopefully it's not too loud at the game that is i i think if it's too quiet for the first episode that's not a huge issue i can soon sort that but if it's too loud then you're not gonna hear a word i'm saying and it's just gonna be painful to watch so yeah i'm just really hoping the audio levels are okay as for the on-screen mirror yes i've got rid of that we are gonna look left and right going to use the actual mirrors in the lorry we cannot pick up the speed and yeah i don't think there's too much more to say at this stage but when i do buy my first lorry it's going to be something similar to this i would imagine i i can't see why it wouldn't be either an equivalent model for the for the daf xf um this this sort of age could be a different brand of course a bit of late indicating there but yeah there's gonna be times when i do forget to do certain things which is funny because in real life when i'm driving i i wouldn't forget to indicate for example uh i guess it's just because it's a game don't look behind you yes that's the sort of thing sort of thing it's a habit when you're playing a game the way that i tend to play get into that habit of doing funny things like going into third person view and floating behind which i would like to do it is nice to see the lorry but i think we're probably going to see it before and after not after the crash before and after the trip so our starting place not at our um destination okay we're doing some speed i think i should be actually going 56 and we'll just pull that down a bit use cruise control cruise control at 55 that's okay only 26 miles to go so the question of where am i going after this long term i want to go into mainland europe oh dear somebody's overheated um but i don't want to go too far at this stage we do need to be very careful with where we go after all we are working for another company so things like resting probably aren't going to be much of an issue to us at this stage money isn't a big problem to us at this stage because all the repairs and the fuel it's all paid for by the employer we don't need to worry about sort of stuff we just need to be ready for when we do own the first lorry and really until we own it we're not going to be earning that much because they're going to take a huge cut and the prices for the jobs aren't particularly good anyway in ets 2 terms obviously in real life a thousand pounds to go 51 miles is pretty good pay let's just get back into that lane we're actually coming off here but pro mods really just brings everything alive i really do like it it's such a good mod for the game a complete game changer the dlcs are very good as well i really do like them okay it's fairly quiet actually just merging straight out not even having to slow down it looks like the uk which is more than what can be said for the base game but i won't i won't um complain about the base game oh hang on what's going on here we're going off it's one complaint about the base game because obviously it's 2012 the the england map and i believe they are going to be renewing it i don't know if we have like a rush hour i'm guessing we do because some some of these areas are very quiet you should really have thought about which lane i should be in when you're playing really seriously that's when things like that do trip you up now if i'm just messing around i really don't care what lane i'm in just just pick a lane and go but i think we're actually going yeah i think it should be in the middle lane yes luckily there's nobody there also i'm using the flappy paddles on the steering wheel for the indicators uh which hopefully is giving a fairly satisfying sound this is not going to be fast paced so if you're here to watch a super fast paced series where we make loads and loads of money really really quickly this probably isn't for you this is supposed to be really starting from the bottom completely and working our way up we have just for the first time ever started working for another company class one just got our license we really are just starting off but we're only one mile away so providing i don't mess up we should be there in just a minute for any real hgv drivers watching this you're probably thinking wow he has no idea what he's doing yes i do not claim to be a professional hgv driver i have no htv licenses whatsoever so yeah please do feel free to to give me some suggestions but obviously there are limitations when i have not taken any of these tests to drive an hgv nice already uh green lights except it's very busy other are letting me go no apparently not okay that's just interesting very good of you let's go to let me go and here we are yes it seems the tutorial has popped up that should be disappearing and yes we're going to always do the most difficult part uh where do we need to be just there right okay luckily we do have this area here to pull into i also don't know if i've got my degrees of rotation set too high i don't want to be too noisy and i think i'm gonna have to just stick my head out the window just get a bit further into here ah lower pressure again okay right please do let me know if you want me to keep the air brake simulation switched on or off i want a full lock around there but there is actually something i think it's a concrete block just down the front of the cab so that's going to make it really tricky when i come to swing around yep yep there's a concrete block there maybe if i can pull up to it and then maybe all right actually allow me to do that i think we prefer to have the cab straight as well okay there we go right yeah i don't know why i've got the tutorial don't want the tutorial uh it's excellent yep that's pretty good um 57 miles we've got 1099 pounds and 182 experience points so we have to start somewhere that's not bad okay so i wonder what we're going to be doing next this is your headquarters it's a pretty basic garage it may not be much but it's a start unfortunately you haven't got anything to park there yet so there are no trucks in sight once you've earned enough money and bought a truck you will be able to move in the world freely and run your own business from here good luck yes we're gonna need it okay so yeah job market quick job and my rule is to always go from where we've gone to so we're in london so we can go to any of these places i think at this stage price per distance is a very wise thing to do so they should load there we go i i shouldn't be picky about the actual brand that we're driving but i do have to be careful about the weight of the the load if it's not a very big lorry then we don't want to have a huge load um so the price is uh well that's actually quite good but let's just see because that's only that is actually the same price per mile yes and that's 22 tonnes so it's going to be probably quite slow so maybe the reservoir tank which is joint top joint first for the best price per mile uh in fact 20.49 per mile that's very good 20 pound 50. reservoirs to norwich yeah i'll go with that from london so yeah we're going north east it's gonna be i'd say a good place to be because from there we could felix stone and cross over to the continent right so of course yeah we already have the trailer attached and everything here it is this really is a basic setup this is what you'd be expecting but it's good yeah 3209 pounds i am very happy with that but the sooner i have my own lorry the better i really need to get one so we're gonna have to maneuver around here watch the trailer which is getting very close to that container cranky that was close um yes and we can now head out towards norwich this is nice just look at it pro mods is fantastic it really is should have indicated that so for now i do have the the simulated air brake switched off just because it was becoming a bit of a pain but if you want me to keep it on next episode we'll put it back on and we can continue with it it was taking i think somewhat somewhere between five and ten minutes to build pressure so we can move which isn't an issue but it's just the fact that we did it when i was just pulling into that yard we'd just been traveling i thought we'd have had some air pressure anyway as i said i was braking too hard so going right out of here looks like the first section might be quite slow just making our way out of central london it is very quiet i don't know if there's an option to increase traffic it would be good to increase the amount of traffic that we have that would make it more challenging also i will jump cut at traffic lights and we're off yes lori has seven 506 and fifty two miles on it it's been doing quite a few deliveries okay we're gonna put cruise control on we actually have cruise control on in london is that is that possible unless you're setting it to five miles per hour apparently so i want to change lanes but there's a car sitting in a very annoying distance alongside us go past the other thing i'd like to hear your opinion on is whether or not you want me to do external shots third person shots every now and then like this i think it does add to it i already don't know this is just an initial video so i can get a good idea of the best thing to do i am concerned about the sound as well i am wondering if it is too loud i would know once medicine in the video i did do a test recording and it seemed okay but i've done that before and then it comes out really loud afterwards ah the gherkin yep i don't know what's been going on but it is certainly quiet yeah very basic lorries that we're using as i said though we have to start somewhere right look at that i don't know london particularly well i've been a few times but from what i've seen pro mods is fairly accurate so i think most of the different monuments and all the detailing should be in the correct places right we're joining the a12 let's go pick up a bit of speed straight out onto the 12 though so yeah uh without saying ammunite too much let's just determine yes we are we really are on the way out now going over the m25 eventually through chelmsford it's a bit busier here but yeah i know that quite a lot of people have been saying oh can you do ets2 again well this is it ets2 a proper series where eventually we'll be able to drive some really expensive high horsepower lorries but at this stage we are just starting i think it's much more satisfying to start like i am doing where are you going crikey lunatic unbelievable yeah as i was saying more satisfying when you can actually see the progression like if in the future we're driving a very expensive uh lorry like maybe even top spec and then you can go back and you can see that we're actually driving just these lorries originally i'm not saying they're bad just they're not ours and obviously fairly old we only have two thousand eight hundred and forty nine pounds in total and i think there is a fairly good chance that we're not going to be taking out a loan or maybe just a small loan if we have no loan it might be very tricky lorries aren't exactly cheap then again somebody may have a fantastic mod recommendation for a lorry that we could buy maybe it's 25 years old and it would be affordable in just a couple of episodes time that'd be good right so back on screws control is 25 degrees nice and warm let's hope the air conditioning is working obviously i'm not using any kind of eye tracking or head tracking technology i am using the mouse to look around which can be uh not the best way of doing things because then as i'm looking around i could be swerving across the lanes but i might change that in the future right we'll do 55 56 miles per hour if we can get to that sort of speed my foot is still four yes 56 very nice we have 111 miles left to go doing some speed and i think having the branded lorries adds a serious amount of realism the brands in the base game are not too bad i think pro mods does have quite a few brands as well but obviously having the trailer pack adds even more so it is good very very good all right i think i can go into this lane they're coming off anyway what i don't want to do is go wrong don't want to take the wrong turn now we said that it can add a bit of interest i always have the sat nav so it's always going to correct the route so re-route it so i know exactly where to go i'm just going to add mileage uh what would be a challenge if i was just using the road signs and we could do that in the future we could say in every one in three journeys i can only use the road signs i can't use the sat nav essentially just like turning the satellite off there's no integrated one in this lorry don't know how well i perform it would certainly be a challenge but it would make it more interesting so that is a possibility time lapses is another thing i i used to do loads of time-lapses but the question about them is does it remove immersion if it means that you getting rid of a viewer being immersed into a video then that could ruin it for a video style such as this one but survival challenge is done with time lapses and this is sort of taking the same idea this isn't going down the route of survival role play where there's an actual storyline we're just seeing how far we can progress when starting with nothing well in this case we're starting with a license and a job we do work for a company i will make use of that mirror too very useful does help when you can see where the back of the car is in front of you yeah series is like the opposite the complete opposite of what you would do on the cali to jewishburg road in multiplayer if you see the slurry go upside down then something has gone catastrophically wrong whereas on the cd road you just know that you've been crashed into for fun most likely yep definitely need the mirrors couldn't do it without yes and i'm pleased i went for what was it 12 ton load 11 tonne yeah i wouldn't want one too heavy at this stage it just would take too long to get the jobs done but eventually we will be going for the heavier loads in fact eventually i want to do heavy haulage that's like a long-term goal and i think we're coming off here but yeah i can say it continuously and it will i i'll still mean the same thing pro mods is amazing i don't want to say it too much though because if you start saying too much it does start to lose meaning even if i don't intend to get repetitive i will um i'll keep saying accidentally that's what i do when i like something i just keep saying i like it let's keep checking that mirror but yeah i think the only things i would like to change at this stage are the the traffic light the heaviness of the traffic i would like to see more traffic and i know that you already have an option for these uh random events and stuff quite happy with the amount that we've got which got it set fairly low um but yeah just slightly busier roads would make it more realistic because anybody who's driven in the uk will know or not even if you've just been on the road in the uk you'll know how busy it is it's absolutely absurd really it's crazy it's just getting worse and worse fuel tanker yeah so resting that's something which we're going to have to plan properly when we have our own jobs coming in with our own vehicle because i don't want to be starting a job and then realizing i need to rest because we could then miss the deadline yep there's the fuel station norfolk i think should keep checking them out but we're only 26 miles from our destination so yeah norfolk i think it's when you start doubting yourself where are we um yes yes definitely eventually we're going to do some fairly big road trips like 800 miles i don't have the option at this stage we have to just do what we're given out of the list but when we start to gain experience and get those perks we can obviously drive further we can drive hazardous loads valuable loads fragile lows all that sort of stuff all i have done is essentially start from the beginning it's simple as that was just started again but just trying to do it in an even more difficult way because i'm sure when everybody starts a new game they are frantically trying to make as much money as possible so they can just buy the biggest vehicle immediately but yeah this is a more laid-back approach since we have pro modes i can i can go slow we can take in the good views don't want to be racing around just seven miles to go and the roads are deserted yeah i was looking for an option i couldn't see an option for how heavy the traffic needs to be norwich discovered so i think when we get to our destination which is in three miles i'm going to conclude this first episode there because it's just going to be a good natural stopping point because i really want to hear your suggestions i need to make sure that everything has gone okay with the sound and everything and yeah then episode two i can really change things because everybody's opinions will have influenced the series there's no traffic now some vehicles behind us and i really hope youtube processes this in high quality because being able to see things in the mirrors like that mirror over there in low quality is going to be difficult i appreciate many people don't have the internet good enough to watch it in the full hd myself included i'm on a limited internet i can do it but i can only do it for so long and i have to be very careful with my uh my internet so i can still upload it's rationed but for those people who do have unlimited really fast internet super fast internet i'm sure you would love to see this in the highest quality possible which should be 1440p and i do upload in a high bitrate but youtube sometimes with certain videos drops it which is just so annoying like just then um that's that's a perfect example of when i'm trying to explain something and i don't realize what speed i'm doing i will try my best to stick to the speed limit right so here we go just in there is our destination still not really much traffic about there might be a mod possibly to get heavier traffic police cars going down here too yeah i'd expect it to be fairly quiet here because it's an industrial estate and we're going to be parking somewhere there looks like he's in between some trailers yep keeping it nice and easy for our second delivery or should i call them drops second drop these are all things that my viewers will tell me probably would have been easier to go the other way around because it wouldn't be a blind sign reverse i'm learning i've had an occasion before where people say oh you would never look out the window i'm going to disregard that comment i don't see the problem with looking at the window it gives you more visibility which makes it easier and safer you can see if somebody stood here you will hear the steering wheel quite a bit and there we go we're here with no damage that's always good to know right so another excellent uh driven distance 142 miles 3 hours 42 minutes but more importantly 3209 pounds and 319 experience points which means are nice we've leveled up so this again is a very important section of the game to other simulators to uh to consider carefully always choose the right one i think eco driving for this stage is just should never even be considered although yeah it makes sense um for us personally we don't care about the fuel consumption we work for somebody else who pays the fuel the fuel bills we don't want to be doing that so i'm thinking probably something like adr i would say explosives gases flammable liquids fireball solids yeah fireball liquids there we go it's always a good one to get so we finished this video this episode on 6058 pounds well done derek no damage of course we're a good employee we're proving ourselves that we can they were competent we won't crash um and yes i i really do hope that it won't be too long until we can afford to buy a lorry of some kind i don't know what it's going to be like how old it is how big it is but just expect sort of the worst yeah that sort of makes sense the cheapest the smallest then everybody won't be expecting too much okay thank you so much for watching everybody i
