Finds cave home ruin on a cliff, restores it on a budget

[Applause] look at the side of the hill there's a cape look at it over there like um [Music] [Applause] so you were saying that there are no street names here right uh there is no name you see there is no name there is no number so the address is lego and you you just have to to find your way you have you see the fort here and here we are on the french side and the other side was the english side was maybe the hundred years war maybe yes i think it was it absolutely yeah you can see the gastonia's castle so that was another board it was a castle it was the english side during the war so this was a fort here and and up there was where the fort was not down here no no it was there they decided to build it like steps all the way up absolutely yes and you have a beautiful view when uh when you're upside the view is terrifying but really pretty it was very well protected when you when you were up you are safe you see now we're right this house was built into the hill yes absolutely so how did you find this tom how did you find this house in the town and all this it was my my first uh house when uh i just lived my parents and uh i came here no so it was your first like bachelor bachelor pad yeah absolutely let's come in okay so here it's you see the hill is is that part of the fireplace yeah i think like it said if we dig we can make an extra room very easily right now so this is the kitchen now no yep no longer the stove must have before now there's a stove okay so you see stone everywhere you see that in the hill again no yes absolutely and in every closet and in the bathroom everywhere let's see the rockies are everywhere that's just because why make another wall you have one so you slept here no under the under the rock did you enjoy that is there a feeling of being oh yes i was very um very safe you see cozy or protected yeah absolutely and when when the weather is rainy it's not even raining in the roof you see the cliff is above when it's raining normally the roof is is not wet you see because because the cliff is such a plumber so basically you have another roof a stone roof a cliff roof above your head absolutely so actually that's great for upkeep you don't have to replace the room no it's a green roof no or plant roof and it's all natural i haven't done anything and under you have a little bit of stone see you can see the stone here so when you came it was just stone tile roof yes absolutely and so how did it become your neighbors didn't i mean you just i don't know it it just came naturally you know well it's very trendy so that's why i leave it and there's a small bathroom absolutely let's have rock on top of it let's see did they ever powder come into the bath no no i'm not ready sometimes when the weather outside is very very hot you have a little bit of condensation water drops you see on the walls but it is only when the weather is very very hot outside when it's hot does the rock keep you cooler yes absolutely the temperature is the same every year all year round yes absolutely and before it was two houses it was not open here you see really yeah that's why you have a second door here so it was quite small then yeah this fireplace is incredible it's a big fireplace the kitchen is a small but so the fair place is quite big yes do you use it to cook no no no no just for the for pleasure for the fun historically would it have been used for cooking or that it was there of course and when you have a big fireplace like this to sit you can see you can have a bench here and you can sit next to the fireplace no isn't it dangerous no because before in the old days life was in the kitchen right absolutely there was no electric heat so it was the only way to get one so would that also be why they were building into the hill yes it's useful for protection yes absolutely you don't really have to heat it or cool it air conditioning yes absolutely it's not comfortable are you teasing it yeah absolutely wow if you want to take a look yeah i told you about the the smoke oh this is just the smoke from the fire absolutely so you cleaned it downstairs yes and this is what it was like when you came it was initially it was like that you can see that there was a older construction it was another house this was for the rain is it gutter yes for the rain absolutely but it was outdoors then uh interesting so now i mean you could have a whole another floor here yeah maybe would you want to live in a cave house again uh maybe a bigger one and it was fun it was a it was very pleasant to talk here it's nice also the sound yeah it absorbs the sound you know the noise yeah absolutely sometimes people ask me ask me if i was not so scared to live here because of the of the rocks but it's much safer than driving a car and you see yeah and it doesn't seem like they fall it's a very special video they are very careful you probably have to have inspections yes absolutely look it broke down yeah that's crazy [Music] [Music] so do you want to see the cellar sure which is a little bit messy wow so now we're really underground yes absolutely yeah so one time this must have been seller for a food or wine yes it is deep so it's a really self-sufficient house how old do you think this house can be the original structures can be hundreds of years absolutely it was built in rebirth and uh yes not easy to see you can't come with your car here because the streets are too narrow but there is no interaction in fact oh really yeah this morning someone tried it and he gets stuck a little bit a little bit later so it's not forbidden but you're just pretty much not going to make it no way because you you need to have a very small car dude where did you park it so you have to walk to your parking yes is that your parking space yes the place is minus there you can notice that there were other constructions putting the beams in there in the rock right before the toilets were in this place the water closets yes it even has its little roof as well it's like an annex to the house and there was also a house here now it is only a rumor that's a ruin yes so sometimes they did fall it is a abandon yes it is from quite long so you lived here for how long maybe uh maybe five years five years and when i was single the house was perfect but with a family maybe you can live whenever you are a couple better with your daughter it's a good bachelor pad yeah oh
