Finding A Chattanooga Cane Mill

[Music] we're out here in some beautiful back country today hop on get down the truck over here so we got something really wonderful we're about to pick up so we can use this fall during our molassy he's getting the days ready [Music] from the other side it's been in this building right here for many a year and then pulled it out we're about to put it on the trailer and bring it home [Music] neighbors welcome to miracle farm 1927 homestead uh we're here today uh beautiful day today we're down here to give us a new cane mill um they're about to load it up here uh it's a bit smaller than the one we used last year but uh i think we'll it'll do the job just fine we got to find a few pieces for it but i think it'll work pretty good hey what you doing just looking just looking you coming for the ride this morning yeah so if i was gonna get us breakfast because he spoils us awful bad don't if ya can get you to work i'll feed you that's a good rule i like it [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] yeah oh right here he had the forks come up against oh yeah the forks yeah come up there and they were hooking them we're not gonna have that option because our parts ain't that long right but you can travel with this one that he had it was a silence cutter right and it had the cutting head over here and it laid too wide right yeah look how close them are see i guess the juice puddle's in that hole right there don't well yeah and that's where it would be neither they're that big and really right there if they say it ain't gonna worry about them they look like they put the daggone clothes to me oh you stick your fingers in that and when we start to use that big and it was oh yeah we will is do you remember how far apart i am i remember how far apart that one was that far and then it got skinnier yeah all them is chattanoogas chattanooga they said they said in the catalog it's made to take apart and clean and everything i guess that's why it's got them little square bolts you got a wire brush i had to go out and get a practice stalk look at that here's the game all right see you can turn it fast pity there oh it's going dude i see juice coming out all the way out of the stock hold on a second petey i want to move over here and see it drip oh it's coming up look under there where it's dripping you can see it's wet on the rollers okay look at it look at it dripping look at that one little stalk it's coming out the back side got it down in there yeah it's it's nothing and that's a little old stalk too lubricated so it's easier oh look at it look at it going all the way down the chute look at that it's coming all the way down there's enough in that stock there's nothing left in the stops once this gets done that's who would have thought it worked that good already look at the inside stuff there's nothing left nothing i shredded it that's incredible i would have never thought because it because it goes it don't just go through one roller it has two small rollers so the one gets it started and started another one and then it actually crushes it again yeah that's amazing look at it yeah it's taken out yeah and petey's ready to go he's like let's go let's get a bigger stalker to run through yeah that is awesome oh look at it falling over here look at all that juice for losing for what somebody go get a cup that's half half a teaspoon of molasses we just lost look at that look at it on the trailer that's terrible and that little stark you saw it it was like four feet long maybe man that's crazy this meal has been setting for probably 10 years or so and it's got a lot of dust and stuff in it we're going to go ahead and pressure wash it out and then we're going to clean this rust off of these rollers here but anyway we're going to pressure wash it first and go from there [Music] [Music] i think we've got some rat beds in there i thought i'll make the glasses i'm nuts [Music] squirrels must have poured some food in it [Music] i guess cheering on [Applause] so it's been around eight years since it's probably been touched much less given a bath go on it she's [Music] so so sparkly now [Music] so we're unloading wood for making the molasses later so we got to get it off the truck daddy has it set so that it's off the ground so it won't get wet from underneath then of course if you have john henry as your brother you don't have to do serious heavy lifting on your own so this would be the wood for making the molasses later that's why it's in longer pieces is that correct no paul bunyan that's who he is paul bunyan woohoo watch out with my double-bladed axe in my heart so go where the timber is taught do you always think great he's not impressed with the cheerleading funk so [Music] little dude while we were out here
