File Format Or File Extension Is NOT Valid Error In Excel Fixed

A few days ago I tried to open one of my Excel Workbook. When I was trying to open the workbook, one of the error kept popping up and the error was, let me show you. The error said that, Excel file cannot open the dot dot file because the file format or file extension is not valid or it may be corrupt and something like that. Now I did a lot of research and I found out that there are so many reasons why this can happen. Maybe you were working on a PC and you were working on that workbook and all of a sudden the lights went off. And your desktop or PC was shut down. Now in order to solve this, I want you to go to the workbook which is not opening, right click on it. Wait for a second, it's a little slow. Now go to properties. There you go. Now first of all, make sure that the default software to open this documents is Excel because if it's not, you have to change it. If it's not, click on change and then you have to choose MS Excel. There it is. Now if it, go to security Tab. Now click on edit. Click on Add. Now click on Advanced. Now choose Find Now. Now drag down and choose Everyone. Where is Everyone, there it is. Click on it and click on Ok. Now click on Ok and click on Add just to make sure it has already been added. It has been so let's go back and make sure you give full access so click on full control. There you go. Now click on Ok. Like that. And now just for making sure, click on Advanced and make sure Everyone has access. So left click and click on Edit. Here you have to make sure that Tick Mark is enabled for all the controls except special permission. Now click on Ok. Click on Ok and click on Apply. Now click on Ok again. There you go. Now you should try to open the file and it should open, it should work. Yes it is. It's opening right. And for most part this should do the job. If you have followed all the steps till here and your file is still now working, it maybe a sign that your file is corrupt and it needs to be repaired. What I want you to do is pre Windows + R and the run command will open as it has opened in my Window and I want you to open Excel. Okay let me try to open Excel in safe mode and it's not working. Just a second and let's just type Excel and open Excel. Anyways. And there you go. Excel is opening. Now first of all open a Blank Workbook. Now go to file menu and click on Open Now browse and browse to the path, the location where the corrupt Excel file has been stored. It's opening. For me it's on my desktop. So I am going to go and choose it. Now do not open the document. Instead click on the drop down option. There on it. Click on it and go to Repair. There you go. Now choose Repair option and let MS Excel do the magic for you and there you go. That's done. That is how you can repair an Excel file. And most probably it should work for you.
