Fifty Shades' Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson Talk Being Naked On Set | TODAY

we're back now with more of our weekl long series 50 shades on today the movie's much anticipated release is now just a week away that's right and the Stars turned out for our fan first screening earlier this morning we brought them back here to Studio 1A with us we're going to talk to them in a moment but first one more you've been waiting for it exclusive clip from 50 Shades of Gray [Music] you're energetic this morning you hungry very cuz I'm making pancakes Jamie D Dakota Johnson good morning to both of you good morning hi Jamie is it true what I read that you haven't yet seen the Final Cut of this yeah that is true yeah yeah are you is that because you haven't had time because you're like afraid to look or what no I'm not afraid to look of course I'm not you know I I don't know how that's happened I think I probably have been relatively busy and been a number of things that have sort of stopped me from doing it but I'm going to see it today actually so I yeah but I haven't seen it in like 6 months we have to remember you you guys shot this what a year ago something like that so is and you went off and went about your own lives after that so is it hard to get kind of back into the whole 50 Shades mentality after that amount of time it is a kind of bizarre experience because I feel so removed from it at this point it's been so long but I'm just excited for people to see it and you know form opinions and actually like watch the movie yeah when we were watching it and yes Matt and I did watch it together yesterday can you understand why that was a little awkward no seriously for co-workers to be sitting there watch she didn't even want to sit I didn't I didn't I wouldn't I put a whole seat between us um but when we were watching it I thought really Dakota you brought a lot to her character and you know there's like there's some steamy stuff in here and I'm sure there's material that some people might find controversial I thought you brought a lot of sass to her character did you was that off purpose like did you think okay I want to make her a strong woman because of the nature of this material yeah absolutely I I think that you know the character Anastasia is one of the most strong willed and has such an such an a of selfworth about her so I really wanted to bring that through which is a bit of an irony because she plays a submissive right and yet she is I agree with Savannah a a stronger person the the way the story has been told to me Jamie is that some of the most intimate scenes the director waited to shoot till the very end of the entire shooting process so the two of you were a little bit more a lot more comfortable with each other did it help yeah that's true and I think it's a really smart move you know I mean I think we did all the Red Room stuff in the final final week of production so it's like 9 10 weeks you know um right at the end and yeah and exactly for those reasons you know that Dakota and I had by that stage built up a real trust with each other an understanding of each other and how we approach work and I think it was a clever move yeah how do you even prepare for something like that though Dakota like I mean I'd be like flossing my teeth and you know checking myself out in the mirror and all that kind of thing but I mean to get to that place and to be so intimate and yet there are cameras all around you so in a weird way it's kind of the opposite of intimacy we talked about it a lot I mean like we worked it out a lot with Sam and it was really meticulous and um I don't know what did we yeah I also read something really sweet that you said I think in an interview you're talking about some of those scenes where they would yell cut and you would be there in front of a crew although maybe at a distance naked and you were the first person who would run over and cover you yeah which I thought that was very very sweet job let's be honest it' be pretty shocking if I did if I was to say hey like got to go gotta call my agent yeah yeah um yeah no but for Dakota it's a different thing you know she was literally in those scenarios for real she's you know tied up she's exposed she's naked and of course when we call cut someone has to step in I mean it's not I'm not just going to leave her lying there it's so exposed you know oh I was tempted I was tempted at times we did build such like I trust him so much and it was like you know we were only there to protect and help each other a lot of people want to know are there going to be two more films this this book is a Trilogy do you think are you up you're up for it if there are two more films I yeah yeah are you up for it no bye got to go yeah I mean that's definitely the idea yeah yeah well good luck oh thank you very much thanks for your help morning I'm glad you saw it thanks guys
