foreign Mr Happy here in this video I want to go over a comment that was recently made by Yoshi P now while I was going over the patch notes myself and getting ready to dive into the patch Yoshi P was doing a reading of the patch notes on a separate stream he does that for every major patch you know totally expected and he usually says a few things that are you know not in the patch notes just a little bit of developer commentary during said stream he made a few of these comments on various topics one of those was them doing more themes like the clear blue theme you know like clear red or clear yellow whatever you know other colors of that which I approve of he also said that the dev team was able to bring the way markers up to 30 but they can raise it more if there is a demand for it it would take some time but they absolutely can do it they just want to see if 30 is enough first however one comment from him got players talking and it's regarding the level cap in Final Fantasy 14 for future expansions first off the outright confirms they're going to level 100 in patch 7.0 while it is the most logical outcome and shouldn't surprise some people I have to imagine this is in response to the numerous speculations that we would only go to level 99 because it's just the more Final Fantasy thing to do hey we do go to level 100 in a few of them but it just made the most sense to do 10 levels instead of nine however he didn't stop there he went on to express concerns about going past that point claiming it feels half-hearted if the solution is to just go level 110 and Beyond so he and the dev team are considering solutions for this for 8.0 and on which we're not even gonna have to worry about till you know late 2026 or early 2027 at the earliest but I figured we should discuss what really are their options first off I want to State one very important thing he is looking for an alternative to Ray raising the level cap over 100 he is not looking for a means of grinding power once you hit max level I say this because as a long time Final Fantasy 11 player I immediately recognize that X11 players were all gonna say the same thing Merit points for those unfamiliar Merit points in Final Fantasy XI are a currency you can earn once you hit Level 75. now instead of earning traditional experience points you can instead choose to earn limit points and 10 000 limit points equals one Merit point you can then spend those on various upgrades for your character itself and the individual jobs you know crit rate Buffs just straight up mainstat HP ability Buffs the stuff you already have and even brand new job abilities eventually they were even updated so that now you can buy spawns for certain bosses it's basically leveling after you're done leveling now that works for the kind of game that Final Fantasy XI is so much much so that they've added two more systems after that job points being the one that's really closer to Merit points not entirely but it still serves a similar goal and that goal is to provide upwards power without technically raising the level cap they effectively work as if you were still gaining levels but they aren't actually levels anyway these function as something for you to do once you hit the level cap but that's not what Final Fantasy 14 is trying to do Final Fantasy 14's level cap acts as a sort of start and end point for your story progression meaning any system they add will conclude about the time you finish that expansion story you will learn new skills gain new stats access the higher item level Armor All the same things you already get this is all any alternative they introduce will likely ever do as such while they may choose these terms from finding Final Fantasy 11 as homages to the MMO that preceded them this would not be a functionally similar system to Final Fantasy 11's version however I will say Final Fantasy xi's latest leveling system because they just keep adding more it's something they could try Master levels in Final Fantasy 11 once you earn all 2100 job points for a job you can begin earning Master levels these effectively act as a Max Level increase which for Final Fantasy 11 means access to higher level sub job skills however it's displayed for example as you know level 99 Red Mage Master Level 10. it still technically means your level 109 it just doesn't say it outright now that is something they could technically do introduce Master levels and you know what Master skills it would all still be functionally the same as gaining levels was in the past just with a Fresh coat of paint maybe they could do something a bit extra to really make it earn that whole Master moniker but that's about it so yeah that's a possible solution that does come from Final Fantasy 11 that I think is possible but it doesn't solve another issue that the constant level cap increases cause you see a new player who wants to start playing Final Fantasy 14 Maybe may find it quite intimidating to get in and see how high the level cap is what I need a hundred levels plus 10 more Master levels ugh never mind heck this already happens with the story and quite frankly whatever their solution is to the level cap increase I think also needs to be a solution to the mounting story progression that new players must go through to participate in the latest expansion this of course leads us to the obvious option number two a level squish wow players you are already familiar with this one the idea here is to shrink the level range that it takes to get through an expansion so let's say that after a level squish you were level 25 when you finished the aroma-born story instead of 50 then Heaven's word you would get the 30 as your new Max stormblood 35 shadowbringers 40 and Walker 45 7.050 and then this would come in at the earliest 8.0 so you know let's say it could be 55 or even 60. this brings down that mental barrier and seeing the huge level difference in being discouraged and also allows players to have a more I guess exciting leveling experience you know when it's condensed that much with the way 14 works you can kind of learn a new skill or a trait or something at almost every level so you get those dopamine hits every single time you gain one now you still have the story to do but the pacing of the leveling would be identical now while doing this would help like I said I think this needs to come in conjunction with a solution to the mounting story problem and I do think they need to consider adding a skip to X option in addition to this what I mean is basically when you hit the level that qualifies for the next expansion story content you could be given the option of fast forwarding to it so in my squished example when you hit Level 25 you'd be given the option to immediately begin the heavensward story and then 30 for stormblood etc etc Etc now of course this means any dungeons you skipped any trials you skipped you could handle that in any number of ways you could force people to go back and do it eventually in order to get all those things unlocked or you could automatically unlock them if they choose to skip because they don't care about the story but it would allow for some flexibility in the system for players who really want to know everything that happens versus players that are more interested in just getting into the current expansion stuff I don't think it really takes away from the game like a lot of people would think skipping story would but that's just my take on it now these aren't their only two options just the two that I think they're probably best off going with you know they could just keep going and forego their fears but I think that's just putting off the inevitable of doing something like a level squish it's just they gotta do something so while Yoshi P says that he uh is struggling to figure out what they want to do and they're really racking their brains about it for the future of the game important given they're talking about the next 10 years those are just a couple of suggestions that I have the outcomes of them and I guess uh we'll just have to go from there but anyway let me know what you think in the comments section of the video below did you like option number one option number two or do you have the secret hidden goaded option number three let me know in the comment section of the video below be sure to like favorite subscribe and share and stay tuned for more pieces like this covering Final Fantasy 14 and the various facets of it I'll see in the next one and until then take care good
