Ferrari have been lying to us it looks like they did in fact offer Lewis Hamilton a contract after all and it wasn't just once either recent news has revealed that both Ferrari's executive chairman John Elkin and team principal Frederick versur tried to steal the seven-time world champion away from Toto wolf let's take a look at the situation in today's video as per Italian journalist Leo torrini Ferrari did extend an offer to Lewis Hamilton but he turned it down both Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton have been talking about a contract extension for quite a while now but that deal hasn't officially materialized until now as usual the media has been speculating about the hold up and of course rival teams can't resist sending out tempting offers especially when it comes to someone as Victorious as a seven-time champ like Hamilton on top of that quite a few xf1 drivers have thrown in their two cents advising him to go for that Ferrari dream Martin brundle even suggested Hamilton could pull a Schumacher and head to Ferrari while Eddie Jordan a former Motorsport team owner seems convinced that Ferrari and Hamilton would just click perfectly but Leo torrini's blog gives us something more telling he wrote Hamilton had been contacted personally by Elkin I understand he politely replied no thanks and you can understand it unfortunately the German publication automotor and Sport throws in some more details mentioning that Hamilton wasn't only approached by Elkin but also by other folks within the team The Paddock is buzzing with rumors that Ferrari's new principal Frederick viser took a shot at talking to the British racer but it seems he received a similar response as Alcan did journalist Michael Schmidt shared this tidbit saying the sir is rumored to have made him Hamilton an offer I won't deny it I think the sir knows well that Lewis is not going anywhere but he also has to make sure that Ferrari shows some dynamism I also think Hamilton is quite smart he knows very well that even if they pay him double in Marinello things won't go any better there Ferrari is not ahead of Mercedes as a car and every problem at Mercedes would multiply at Ferrari because it is even more in the spotlight speaking of Hamilton's contract extension over at Mercedes Schmidt noted that he can't remember a time when Hamilton's contract extension was sorted out overnight but it has always been announced eventually on the Ferrari side of things they've previously brushed off claims of reaching out to Hamilton with any offers in light of the recent news former F1 Champion Mika hakonen has made an appearance as reported by Motorsport Italy he's chimed in suggesting that Hamilton shouldn't underestimate the emotional Factor when it comes to making his call about the future in Formula One the F1 Legend said he has to analyze the future of Mercedes he has to analyze who designs the next cars everyone's motivations the money available he has to forget about emotions he has to make a cold calculation for how difficult it is when you have achieved so much success with the team harkinen's advice to Hamilton is definitely telling of where he thinks the seven-time champ should go but it appears that the Mercedes Superstar is quite set on sticking around at Brackley both Hamilton and Toto wolf have hinted that only a few minor details of the new contract need to be ironed out and more importantly Wolff also dropped a bombshell regarding the Mata when the first reports emerged outlining the specifics of the new contract it was mentioned that Hamilton could be stepping into an ambassadorial role at Mercedes once he retires the rumored figure being thrown around was a hefty 250 million dollars spread over the course of the next decade contrary to the earlier reports Wolff clarified that this won't be happening in his latest update the headhunt show at Mercedes revealed that the new contract won't feature any provision like that for Hamilton his reasoning is straightforward since Hamilton is committed to staying with the team for the foreseeable future it doesn't make sense to include such a clause Hamilton himself has openly stated his intention to continue in F1 for another five years but the responsibility of maintaining this partnership for that duration rests on Mercedes shoulders while talking to Motorsport total.com he said it's simply Minor Details that need to be resolved in the contracts nope we're not discussing an ambassador role after his retirement that's also not part of the contract negotiations I believe he has many years ahead as a driver in this team so it's just about clarifying things in the contract I don't want to give a date as its lawyers talking to lawyers there are no material issues anymore but you have to give them at a time time and I don't want to commit to a date going into more detail about the strong connection between Hamilton and the Mercedes brand wolf emphasized the rich history that intertwines the two saying he is synonymous with Mercedes we have experienced so many highs and lows so many situations that were challenging on both personal and professional levels and so many extremely positive moments and I believe that has bonded us together about a year and a half after Lewis Hamilton's loss in the 2021 Championship Toto Wolff still hasn't gotten over the events that transpired that night he mentioned that the title was stolen and this has made it a tough pill to swallow while making an appearance on BBC radio's desert island discs the Mercedes team boss let his feelings about the robbery known saying both drivers started with equal points into this race best man and best machine wins and the best man that day didn't win and it's still something that stings not of losing it because I wouldn't have been able and all of us would have been able to lose that race fair and square and admit that but it was stolen and that made it difficult the FIA was with its next regime a new president was voted in literally that month and was able to admit that a mistake was made and it was human error that's how they called it but obviously that was not bringing us the trophy back and was not making Lewis the only eight-time world champion but you just need to overcome it and I think Lewis and I are very similar in that respect we are able to compartmentalize but it is what it is much worse things happen in the world than being stolen of a Formula One World Championship the interesting phenomenon is that we as a team and Lewis as a driver we didn't have a lot of credit and sympathy because we won so many times and we became the underdog in that moment people cheered for us and that is still a positive for us today now looking into the future Mercedes remains absolutely certain that George Russell will eventually become a Formula One champion even though he experienced a bit of a dip in his second year the British driver left a remarkable impression during his initial season with the Silver Arrows securing that position came after a three-year stint with Williams and he made his debut for Mercedes ahead of schedule at the 2020 sahia Grand Prix stepping in for Lewis Hamilton who was sidelined due to kovid this year Russell's steady performance has shown some fluctuations and he hasn't managed to secure a spot in the top five in seven out of the 12 races held thus far nevertheless Mercedes maintains an optimistic outlook on the 25 year old's prospects firmly believing that he will eventually guide them to Formula One success following in the footsteps of Hamilton who has done so many times before him Mercedes Trackside engineering director Andrew shovlin said this about their young Protege he's a hugely professional driver who's working very very hard and he's one of those that you'd say no doubt he'll win a championship at some point providing we can give him a car that's fit for that job and we're obviously working very hard to achieve that but he's very technical he adapts well to different conditions all good drivers get better over time they're focused on looking for every opportunity to improve when he got pole at the Hungarian Grand Prix last year it was a surprise for us because we didn't have a good Friday we did make some changes to the car but he did a fantastic job in qualifying to get that so he's super focused and no doubt that he'll be part of much success for the team in the future with sir Lewis contract negotiations inching closer to being finalized by the minute it seems like George Russell is going to have to bide his time for now and as for Hamilton's future in the sport do you think that sticking with Mercedes is the right choice or would he be better off driving for Ferrari like so many F1 greats did before him tell us in the comments section down below and as always don't forget to like And subscribe to the channel if you haven't thanks
