Fermenting Chicken Feed & how we do it

hi petra here from great little homestead fermenting chicken feed or you can call it lactic acid fermentation some sort of the same type of fermentation that occurs naturally in sauerkraut for example i like to do that with my chickens or not with my chickens but for my chickens and i find it very healthy i truly believe that what goes into the chicken comes back to me so let me show you how i do it is about three days of fermenting and all i do with it when i prepare to bring it to my chickens is just strain the liquid out of it put it all in here i scrape out the bucket oh try to get as much out there here we go so okay so here's my feet i use cracked grain um barley oats wheat on peas and just get the amount what i need for a day on top of that during winter i also like to give them some black oil sunflower seeds just a few not too many let me just quickly cover that up again here so then just put it in your bucket and then just get some water on top of it you want to make sure that you cover it well a few inches because the grain will swell and absorb the water so it expands and then you might want to check if you have to add a little bit more water the next day or later in the day just steer it in just like that and that will be fine in three days what you also can do is if you are already into fermenting what i usually do um is that i reuse the liquid over and over again because it gets better with every time you use it more healthy bacteria in there and better fermenting so give it a little bit time it will get there for sure put your lid on put it on the shelf i have three buckets here i just need them put the new one on the far right and the oldest one on the far left so i know to borrow this one is the one i have to feed steer them once a day and you are good to go so i have a extra bucket here well i'm a bucket lady obviously this one is the bucket what goes to the chickens everything else stays in here so um this is quite dry now oops so it goes in just in the bucket some minerals what is it we just want to make sure that they really get all the nutritions and everything they need so what they also get on a daily basis is kelp it also adds super amount of minerals and good stuff to it and also i give them some garlic powder there's the myth that it prevents um parasites and and warms and such things i don't know if this is true but i added anyway it's good for them and you don't taste it in the eggs by the way and then mix it all up there we go and ready to go if you like my little video today give me a thumbs up if you have a question or want to leave a comment please do so don't forget to subscribe and i hope to see you again very soon have a wonderful day see you bye
