Fencing Knot 2 - The Figure 8

[Music] okay now I'm going to show you the figure eight knot now this is a knot that you use if you've run out some wire and you need to start a new roll and you're not quite to the end of the fence so this is for tying slack wire together only this is not for use with strainers at all this is just for tying slack wire Okay so we've got our two pieces of wire here that we want to join together I've colored one of them yellow and one of them black now what I'm going to do is in my yellow wire which was the wire that I've just finished off what I'm going to do is I'm going to curl that around [Music] to make a loop in it that looks like that now you'll see that I've got my Straight standing piece of wire and then once again I've got a tail now what you then do is you get the next piece of wire that you want to join onto this one and you want to put it through that Loop but you want to put it through the loop so that it Bears down on the tail you want to come up underneath so that it pushes this tail down onto itself once you've done that the rest of the knot that you're tying will be tied up here above that Loop now all I have to do is take this piece of wire here because it's gone over the top now I want it to go underneath so I'm going to take this piece of wire underneath and I'm going to bend it and simply make another loop so you can see the other loop in the other piece of wire here and when I pull them together they pull on each other and tighten up and then no matter how much force I put on that all that this knot can do is actually get tighter when you've finished and you've strained up the fence you would come back and you would cut these tails off because they are a hazard they can get caught on clothing or they can rip the height of animals so you want to make sure that once you've you've strained the fence up this will get nice and tight and you want to cut these two off so notice we go through the loop over the top underneath and around foreign [Music]
