hello and in this video I'm gonna be talking about features I either like or dislike on a gas mask or respirator and this is gonna be personally you know totally personal opinion based some people who like these features fine with them if they like them but what I'm gonna do in this video is talk about the features and then say whether or not I actually like this feature or not so in this video I've got a polish mp5 respirator I could do this video of any mask because there's not one mask I've got where I think it's perfect before she de cut the four she-dre four and my Avon CT 12 but our closest masks the ones I really like but this video is just to give you a general idea so when it comes to lenses I definitely prefer having two separate lenses to panoramic lens this is a panoramic lens of a wide one now again that's personal preference some people definitely prefer having panoramic lenses and that's not to say I won't necessarily get a mask at some point where I really like how the panoramic lens is done the Shelf of panoramic lens is compared with two flat circular lenses for example is that the panoramic lenses tend to distort your vision a bit and you might be able to see there that there's a bit of distortion by having a panoramic nose this is a silicon one if it's made from silicon while it is flexible as you can see silicon is generally the most likely thing to go wrong on a mask in terms of silicon will dry up faster discolor faster get have leaks things like that also blister agents like mustard gas and lewisite a good at damaging silicon so you don't really want that for your lens really what you want is to polycarbonate flight pieces that are quite big the reason is when the flap they won't distort your vision if they're flat you can put scopes up to them without problems like on the SH M s and the s10 Bobbsey if they're made from polycarbonate are very strong unlikely to break so you don't have to worry about that so ideally for lenses to circular polycarbonate bits so if you imagine with this mask I would actually be fine with this mask it wasn't silicon in the middle you had some rubber and then both of these with flat pieces of polycarbonate I think that's pretty much what they've done the Polish mb6 mask let's replace this one have it more like that but yeah flat polycarbonate is ideal for me at least if I was using masks because you can see well out of it you get a good feel view and it's very strong boys die from me I definitely rather have a voice diaphragm and not have one but I rather have a thick piece of plastic for a voice diaphragm that way it's not too weak and brittle unlikely to break but it's not like the metal ones are held in wear that like thin layer of tin or something where you have to have or aluminium eyes those are more likely to be where you know you have to worry about them sort of breaking or becoming unglued with a flat piece of solid plastic that would obviously be quite tough against chemical agents and work well drinking tubes I'm not a fan of them it's not too bad on the mp5 out of all masks my favourite masks are dripping kaanchi weirdly is the Polish MP for B because that doesn't have many problems despite being a stopgap mast from what I understand but again with drinking tubes I found so many masks incorporate drinking tubes do it badly that they Eve compromised the mask where you might risk inhaling for a drinking tube you know various things like that so personally I do not like drinking tubes or masks as I said there are one or two masks that do it wow lots of masks get some aspects is drinking too bright and get other aspects wrong as people have suggested to me before in the comments I think an actual Camelback you know like the water Camelback drinking systems would be better for drinking tubes in the canteen especially the ones that are slightly squeezy because that way you could squeeze them to increase pressure to flow water and some masks without having to actually turn the canteen upside down hold over your head that's especially frustrating when the drinking tube system doesn't connect to the canteen securely and it keeps falling out when you're holding it vertically so I'm not a fan of drinking tubes as I've said numerous times they can be made right so you know it's not to say that all drinking tubes are bad it's just I've experienced a lot of masks or I don't get on with a drinking tube system exhale valve any sort of exhale valve assembly is fine really I don't have any personal preference as long as it's not something that's easy to break whatever filters ideally forty millimeter NATO not ghosts because only polish every five and a few of a modernized filters fit them NATO is the way to go Rd 40 when it comes to strap I'm definitely much more of a fan of having a 6-point fabric head harness with a big bit of mash that you can pull tight with the quick adjust things and release like the FM 12 and CT 12 have and the four Tschida masks not not ones like this where you hook them on because that can be a bit awkward when you're trying to do it quickly so you know again there's lots of ways you can do it but I've ideally found six easy to adjust elasticated straps are good rubber straps can be okay I found on some mass rubber straps can be really awkward to pull through and release especially if they're like the fit cut rubber straps and that would be somewhere I actually feel bad about pulling the straps too tightly because I'm worried that the strain of it's gonna break something on the mask knots three of this mask but for example trying to pull that through that's quite tight you could damage your clasp by pulling too tight on it luckily this is set absolutely fine for I need two straps but that's the whole point I'm getting out on elasticated straps I don't worry about pulling them too tight also I really like buckle systems that are obvious you know it's just a threaded four buckle system not the ones that are really complicated the ones I really hate as well the old-style world war one world war two especially world war two i'm not sure about war one loss I don't have any but the world war two British style straps which if you have a masks however you have to Fred bits a strap through adjust it see if it's right you know and keep doing that until it's ready you can't put the mask on quickly if you haven't previously adjusted it so there's all of those so not loads else to cover as far as I'm aware I think the exhale valve on this masks under this cover isn't it I said yeah it's just a standard and brother exhale well nothing interesting about that one so yeah ideally for me round sort of shaped or triangular I'm not too bothered as long as you get a good feel of you that flat polycarbonate lenses not silicon easy to adjust fabric head harness a standard thick plastic XL valve preferably if you can have secondary ones at the s10 house so you can click a radio onto it if you need to do that and ideally not a drinking tube system unless it's well four out if you're going to have a drinking too system have one like this where it can be adjusted inside the mask by turning something and then what you need to do is on the outside have rather than this system where you bayonet something in actually have a screw bit that attaches like the mp4 B has what I hate with drinking tube the most is the ones where there's no way to get the lever of the drinking tube in and out of your mouth properly so what I really like is the ones way you've got like a bit on the mask and then you can sort of manipulate that to get the straw wrench or mouth or whatever then I manipulate it to get it back out not the ones where they're on a weird twist sideways thing because if it twists like that your mouth doesn't really you know either hit your cheek or it's going in front of your mouth you need one that really goes forwards and back so yeah that's for me anyways features I like on gas masks so hopefully that's been clear but as I said these are my personal opinions I know some people love panoramic lenses and would much rather have them than separate lenses each to their own but that's what I like what I might do is do a video as well explaining if I had a gas mask you know if I was able to design a mask what it would be like now some of this would definitely be personal preference at one of their would be very personal person so it's designed some of it is quite theoretical because obviously can't design a mask so I might go into that a bit more detail in a video of features I'd really like to see on a mask but I think I'd end up having more like some sort of weird spacious space-age helmet thing you know like a Kevlar helmet with a mask rather than simply having a mask on its own but hopefully that's cleared up features I like and dislike on the mask you
