[Music] [Music] unless the lord [Music] [Music] gift of god [Music] is [Music] is [Music] and he shall prosper all his days [Music] let us pray eternal father great almighty creator you who designed created and sustained the vast and endless universe who is in him father grey god we are truly thankful to be here this morning and this your holy sabbath day you invited us to be here so we know you are here with us regard as we go through this day we invite your presence we ask that you will lead and direct everything that is said and done here we ask father that you open our hearts and minds so that the messages that you have for us we will get the meaning and we mean help us lord not to just understand but help us that whatever we get we will meditate on them and so apply them to our lives so that we can grow in grace and grow in knowledge as they have called us to do turn our father we're asking it to remember all the virgin around the world who are gatherers just as we are lord we ask for your blessings upon each individual we ask that your presence will be with those who are sick who cannot make it to your facesites we ask for your healing for them and father we ask you now to take everything in charge all these mercies we ask in the name and the authority of jesus christ oh lord amen as we know on the first day this commander that you're bringing offering by fire but this time we weren't burning a fire but our brother here mr wayne fobs will come and do the offertory thank you mr morgan good morning brethren happy feast to you all so good to see us in this great numbers the title officer this morning is feasts and offering feasts and offering the purpose of this offertory is to for us to review and examine some examples of how to give an offering and the attitude that we're given offering and a perspective of meditating and changing the way in which we plan and how we give or offering so let's begin by defining feasts it turned me to leave it to us 23 which was begin in verse 2. leviticus 23 verse 2. begin speak to the children of israel and say to them the feast of the lord which you have you shall proclaim to be holy convocation these are my feasts dropping down to verse four these are the feasts of the lord holy convocation which you shall proclaim at their appointed times so by definition here the word feast simply means appointed time or season and we all over the years know what these appointed times and when these seasons fall because most of us here would have had calendars outdating the month and the day for each of god's feast days so now offering why an offering simple answer is because god commands us too why god owns the entire universe he doesn't need our money but the theme of the feast answer that question so we can learn to fear him always so we can learn to fear him always and also in result of that we earn his promised blessings just examine two examples given in the bible of giving an offering turn to genesis 4 genesis 4. here we see the contrast of offerings from the brothers cain and abel genesis 4 beginning in verse 3 says in the process of time it came to pass that cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the lord the new living translation reads this way it says when it was time for the harvest cain presented some of his crops as a gift to god i want to focus on this translation just ahead at the point i'm trying to make cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the lord verse 4. abel also brought the firstborn the firstborn of his flock of their fat and the lord respected abel and his offering verse 5 but he did not respect cain and his offering so here we see contrast of two brothers giving an offering kane as the def the translation here said caden brought some of his his crops while abel gave the first barn so here we see able considering who he was presenting this to the true and living god so he presented to him the firstborn of his flock when we are giving our offering to our great god do we just rush and let's put something in or do we meditate and ponder on the great glorious blessings that the lord has presented to us throughout the years promises that he has made that will fulfill to us if we do as we are commanded to determine to deuteronomy 16. lutheran 16 begin verse 16 says three times a year all you males shall appear before the lord your god in the place which he chooses at the feast of another world at the feast of weeks and at the feast of tabernacles and here's the command and they shall not appear before the lord empty ended they shall not appear before the lord and ended if they are down on their face they are unemployed they are orphaned they are widowed no my bible said they shall not appear before the lord empty ended no disclaimer why are we saying that we're down on our face if we're unemployed or often are with us that god has not blessed us your ear if someone gives us a gift it's not the lord that bless that person to give us a gift and upon receiving that gift do you give thanks and praise your great god and say thank you for this gift and based on the fact that i have a calendar knowing the fees are proclaimed appointed days i'm going to put down 50 cent in respect for you granting me this blessing things to meditate on brethren who is or real provider sometimes we do things without thinking and not recognizing that we are blocking and preventing god's blessing from shining upon us and we have referenced here malachi 3 verse 9 it says you're cursed with a curse you are cursed with a curse why for you have robbed me even this whole nation yes brethren we have put ourselves in a curse if we choose not to obey our great god but look at the contrast in verse 10 here is the earned promised blessing bring in all your tithe into the store oaths that there may be food in my house and yes he said try me no in this said the lord of hosts if i will not open up the windows of heaven and pour out such blessings that you will not have room enough to receive it back to verse 17 of deuteronomy 16 it says every man shall give not all not already has no every man shall give as he is able according to the blessing of the lord your god which he has given you give as you are able according to the blessings which the lord has given you which one of us here can say that lord has not blessed us so here's your commander to give us your able and as god has blessed us and i said doesn't matter the example of the widow in the two mites reference mark 12 41-44 and luke 21 versus one two four god has shown us how much he loves us and he got you're giving us gifts let's hide us a few examples in romans 5 8 it says that but god demonstrates his own love towards us in that while we were sinners christ died for us the oracle the golden rule the most known verse in the in the world john 3 16 for god so loved the world of us brethren that he gave us gave us his only begotten son but not just that that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life now example luke 12 verses 32-34 it says luke 12 verse 32-34 do not fail at the flock for it is your father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom think about that regen the attitude again sell what you have give arms provide your money provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old however a treasure in heaven does not fail where no thief approaches nor destroys mr newman mentioned this part in his offertory and atonement for where your treasure is your heart will be also whether we know that offerings do a lot of work i'm an example my mother was introduced to church because of the plain truth i'm sure a few of you what about tomorrow's world telecast tomorrow's world present or by a booklet or by an article by somebody who got in from that has benefited from that so some examples of what the orphan is being paid for first commission of preaching the gospel tomorrow's world magazine circulation english is approximately 500 thousand that's a 25 increase from last year the spanish approaching 11 000. the french speaking approaches six thousand and africans 1600. the news and prophecy electronic news media the worldwide is 18 300 subscribers so here we see we contributing to the mandate given to us to preach in the gospel to the world in conclusion version we have seen two examples of the brothers cain's run example and abel's righteous example we can and we must reflect on all the blessings and the good things that our father in heaven has bestowed upon us and is providing for us and all that he has in store for us and what more is to come somebody let us take to heart and truly ponder before giving an offering to our great god that it may be acceptable in his sight and for those who are not here you can deposit your offering directly to scotiabank in scotiabank branch and account number is 3628-163628-16 and it's the oxford road branch but as the ushers go there will be a six team yes mr morgan there'll be a 16. yes miss our festival coordinator said it sticks him so mr morgan please our next team yes well i wasn't prepared for this so let's continue with it page 122 is your fifth hymn nine for face page one twenty two not many wise men no are called you may rise let's continue the song service [Music] not good [Music] greatness even the wisdom of mankind is [Music] [Music] glory songs [Music] shall confound the mighty [Music] is [Music] [Applause] [Music] you may be seated and now for the sermon or pastor mr lasses fraser so thank you mr morgan good morning everyone and i have this feast to you all i do and i'll take apologize of the blame for that um when i sent out the the speaking schedule for the song leaders and the speakers i'm more certain i took everyone on that list and sent them out apparently mr morgan didn't get his own turnout this morning everybody is telling him you are the one who's going to leave some no and not me leading some service this morning because they didn't see the schedule so after intervening and telling yes it's your you should have received the schedule so the other one aren't for leading there on the song service and we have been singing six hymns over the years i slipped it in while we have visitors from headquarters here nobody saw it or say anything to me so i'm going to continue with the process because that is how the rest of the congregation participate in the song service and especially this is feast time and we are here to glorify and praise our great god we have two hours for services and if we can get in six in we're gonna have six sims going and preparing this sermon brethren sorry i went back to the parable of the wise and foolish virgins in matthew 25 1-13 i'm not going to read it this morning but just for your notes matthew 25 1-13 and from that we learn that oil there is symbolic of the holy spirit and we have some examples of that in the old testament for example for your notes first samuel 16 and verse 13 first samuel 16 and verse 13. so then samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers this is speaking of david and the spirit of the lord came upon david from that day forward so samuel arose and went to rama so here we see symbolic of the holy spirit and also we can take for your notes first samuel 10 first psalm will turn one to six and that has to do with the anointing of king saul the first king of israel so from the problem we see that the result of not having enough oil as we wait for the bridegroom the result of not having enough oil as we wait for the bridegroom so it mean that we will miss out on that joyous occasion which is the marriage supper of the lamb if you turn with me to revelation 19 we heard from have been here so far most of the speakers who have been invited here it's an invitation it's an appointed time it's a festival it's the feast and we're here to rejoice we are rehearsing what life is going to be like in the kingdom but we have to prepare ourselves in order to be there revelation 19 i'll start verse 7. he said revelation 19 7 let us be glad and rejoice and give him glory for the marriage of the lamb has come and his wife this is the church has made herself ready and to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine lining clean and bright for a fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints then he said to me right blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the lamb and he said to me these are the true sayings of god so here we see that we learn that spiritual preparation from the problem of the wise and foolish version cannot be borrowed cannot be bought it cannot be loaned it had to be developed individually and the truth is you and i need not run out on oil which is symbolic of the holy spirit and here's why jesus christ tells us why you take for your notes luke 11 13 luke 11 and verse 13. and he said there if you then being evil know how to give good gifts to your children how much more will your heavenly father give the holy spirit to those who ask him so we see there's no need for us to run out of oil symbolic of the holy spirit as we read off in the parable of the wise and foolish version so as we ask for more of the holy spirit there are things that we need to keep in mind i will just focus on three of those this morning first first john 3 and verse 22 for your notes i'll read it for you first john 3 and verse 22. and it says there and whatever we ask from whatever we ask we receive from him because we keep his commandments and do those things that are pleasing in his sight it's another that's one of the conditions of receiving from him more of the holy spirit so when we keep god's commandments we are in accordance with his will and our prayers will be in harmony with his will and we'll receive what we ask of him second john 15 and verse 7. he said if you abide in me for your notes i'll read it for you if you abide in me and my words abide in you you will ask what you desire and it shall be done for you so again if we abide we still remain in him then whatever we ask it to be done for us so when we remain in christ our desires will be met according to his will and third acts 5 verse 32 for your notes again i read it acts 5 32 and we are his witnesses to these things and so also is the holy spirit whom god has given to those who obey him so if we're not obeying him you're not going to have enough oil run out of oil that means we're not going to have enough in our vessels we're not going to have enough of the holy spirit and from revelation 17 i mean 19 he mentioned his wife which is the church includes you and may i pray that we are making ourselves ready said and his wife has made herself ready so the wise virgins of the parable that went into the marriage support because they were ready so the question for you and for me this morning is this will we be ready when christ returns to establish the kingdom and the feast of tabernacles is a reality so i've titled the sermon this morning preparing to meet the bread group preparing to meet the bridegroom and in this sermon review seven actions that you and i can take to help make us ready reveal seven actions that we can take to help make us ready action number one to study the word of god in second timothy 2 and verse 15 king james version it says for your notes second timothy 2 15 study to show yourself approved unto god a workman that need not be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth so we have a study god's word and we'll get to why we need to study it and understand it internalize and leave it the new king james version says this be diligent to present yourself a proof to god a worker who does not need to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth that means you and i we have to read it we have to meditate on it we have to memorize it and we have to apply it into our lives apply the spiritual intent in our lives and there are two reasons why we must study the word of god first we are in training to become teachers those of us who have been to school recognize that the teachers that we appreciate teachers who knew their subject well i didn't could impart the knowledge to us that we could understand subject matter as well so we're going to be teachers in god's kingdom we have to study these words we have to internalize it and we have to leave it in order to teach others and since the law will be the foundation of god's government and we'll be teaching that in the kingdom we must study his word notice isaiah chapter 30 isaiah 30 if you turn with me there isaiah 30 star verse 20. isaiah 30 20 bring another thought and though the lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore your eyes shall see your teachers your ears will hear a word behind you saying this is the way walk in it whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left so if we're going to be there to teach the way of god we must now prepare ourselves by studying it internalizing it meditating on it and living it the second reason is that we are being trained to be kings and priests are being trained to be kings and priests and you can take for your notes revelation 5 9-10 so as kings and priests we're going to have several responsibilities and religious responsibilities and as we have religious responsibilities or five or ten cities what is what is required of a priest for your notes malachi 2 and verse 7. malachi 2 7 for your notes this is what is required of a priest that said for the lips of a priest should keep knowledge and knowledge is knowing knowledge is understanding it is intelligence it is wisdom and it is skill and the people should seek the law from his mouth for he is the messenger of the lord of hosts again mr western mentioned it last night and that their first feast they mentioned isaiah 2 1-4 and the law will go forth from jerusalem i'm going to spread through the entire earth but we are the ones who are going to be over those five or ten cities so we have to study the world because we are going to be teachers we are going to be kings and priests and they are going to ask of us so that we can give them guidance and direction on how they are to live if you turn to deuteronomy you see what is what was recorded recorded required rather for kings but is recorded for what was required for kings in ancient israel deuteronomy 17. it was a lot of preparation it's no different for us now we are in training literary 17. are we starting verse 18 breaking the thought speaking of when the king sits on his throne deuteronomy 17 18 also it shall be when he sits on the throne of his kingdom that he shall write for himself a copy of this law in a book from the one before the priests believers can you imagine the first five books what we call the old testament is the law and the priest was required to write out a copy of it for himself now we can just walk into a bookstore and we purchase a copy not only of the law but of the entire canon of what was canonized for us and preserved for us and what a reason for it verse 19 and it shall be with him and he shall read it all the days of his life that he may learn to fear the lord his god and that's part of why we are here to learn to fear our great god always and be careful to observe all the words of this law and these statutes that his heart may not be lifted up above his brethren that he may may not turn aside from the commandment to the right hand and to the left that he may prolong his days in the kingdom and his children in the midst of israel now he's over time for training we're not going to get him the kingdom and learn if he gets in the kingdom and we're going to learn it's going to learn how maybe to conduct ourselves spiritually from our elder brother because that's the first we are going to experience spiritual life and then we have to deal with human beings like ourselves and as we have to develop the character from now as we get there we are going to be right we're not going to get into uh we're going to be in the trouble because we have to develop the character from know that when we get there we can act an appropriate and correct manner notice the example of ezra when he set out the rebuilding of the second temple in israel and this is what he's set out to do because the templar was going to be rebuilt the second temple and then worship was going to uh restart it there and he said for israel god prepares heart to study the law of the lord and to do it and to teach statues and ordinance ordinances in israel so let's review it details of ezra's preparation set to study the law and to do it and the law here is the or the declaration commandments or it can also refer to the five first five books of the old testament we call the pentateuch and to teach statutes and ordinances so that's what as a priest as i was prepared to do we are priests in training we have to be doing the same thing as well to teach statutes and ordinances and all of those are symbolic with law and commandment and precepts i started as an appointment it's a written rule or a law and the new king james storyboard will comment on ordinances as follows it's a decision a determination a judgment a personal cause or right justice correction and punishment it's adjustment is that faculty found always in god and sometimes in man that produces decisions based on justice rightness truth fairness and equity judgment rectifies imbalance and sets things right again if punishment is what is required to rectify things then judgment brings punishment are we not from isaiah 2 to 2 2 4 that we're going to judge the nations and as i said we're going to rebuke let me look at it before um is there two two let's just turn there now this is part of what we're going to be doing verse four in particular isaiah 2 and verse 4. and this is why we must study the word of god we must meditate on it internalize it memorize it and practice it isaiah 2 4 said he shall judge between the nations who are going to be part of that judgment and rebuke many people that's part of it that's what judgment is all about if punishment is required then yes there'll be punishment but it is there to rectify things and all those decisions are going to be based on justice god's justice so preparing to meet the bridegroom the first thing we need to be doing the first action we can take now is to study the word of god internalize it meditate up upon it put it into practice so that it becomes a part of us and also that we can rightly divide the word of truth that is applying spiritual intent of god's law in our lives second action we can take is once we have the holy spirit that we must be bearing the fruit of the spirit and the fruit sometimes there's some confusion here and i've heard it before too it said fruits of the spirit but when we read galatians five turn with me galatians 5. i notice in this particular passage not speaking of fruits speaking of fruit and this fruit has nine attributes it's a misconception that you can have the holy spirit on you be the fruit of love but not self-control that's not what this is saying here this is one fruit and it has these nine attributes and if you and i have the holy spirit these nine attributes must be present in our lives yes some might be uh more pronounced than others but they all must be there elections five regular thought verse 22 but the foot of the spirit is love joy peace longsuffering kindness goodness faith faithfulness gentleness self-control against such there is no law and those who are christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires if we live in the spirit let us also walk in the spirit let us not become conceited provoking one another envying one another and we know that these nine attributes there are what defines our elder brother jesus christ and our heavenly father they are attributes of their divine character and that is what you and i need to develop if we are going to reign with him and the feast of tabernacles is a reality first one mentioned there is love this is unconditional love self-giving love this is how god loves and we know that love is shut abroad in our hearts by the holy spirit of repented baptizer received the holy spirit reading romans 5 and verse 5. and notice that god loves us equally we're in this room observing obeying him as well as those who are serving us in this hotel as well it's not their time for salvation but it's your time and my time today is our day of salvation next attribute is joy which is an inner hap you know happiness not dependent on outward circumstances you know you just have to read the prison letters of apostle paul especially in philippians and see how many time he used the word rejoice can you imagine you're behind bars you're in shackles and you're telling those on the outside to rejoice it takes a certain mindset to do all of that and that's what you and i need to need to develop because sometimes as i was saying to someone coming up the stairs this morning and i asked him how are you today i'm not complaining i said you know that's good because god said we shouldn't complain and then yet sometimes we hear some among us montego bay again too far oh yeah i mean we have a god set to place his name that's where we are we should be verizon remember it warns us you know and first corinthians 10 about ancient israel and their complaining so we have we have to be careful brethren you have to be careful yes i just read philippians and see how many times he used that word rejoice you will understand what is all about not has to do anything with outward circumstances you know and again something we need to say again uh discuss that with some person because sometimes some individuals believe you don't stay at a hotel you can't have a good feast that's that's not the case brethren that's not the case those who are coming from our former association i can tell you but back in ultra races was turtle towers mansfield metals brook green and those who were blessed a little bit it would be upon their sea castles or somebody know where it used to be yes i never the hotel was coming from overseas but you know god has blessed us over the years some of us uh all of us and so that yes some of us can stay at the hotel but it wasn't always like that so sometimes you hear people yeah mr freeze i can't talk you must steal the hotel no there was no areas like that at some point in time it was like six of us can you imagine my wife and i have four children and we are going to the feast and we couldn't afford hotels still where we could afford according to the blessing on our what our second tithe code and then we still enjoy the feast because not about circumstances it's about what it pictures and the time ahead of us and we have to prepare for that time let me mention peace this is the absence of stress strife and harmony in relationships but first we have to have that relationship with god and then we can have it with some fellow man it's not going to work any other way and remember virgin we're going to spend eternity together forever so we need to get to know each other now and you know set aside the petty differences not going it's not helpful and as i always said many times from the pulpit here don't point the finger at me and tell me about my thoughts it's easy for you to smile but they're going to be difficult for you to see your own so about we all have things that we have to work on so let's just focus on ourselves and work on what we need to to work on then long suffering that is patience that means we have a determination even when we are seriously severely tested we are under pressure and when was it last night or this morning yes this amount of breakfast that my my wife were talking about some person who we know uh would be at the feast if they could be here for example connie would miss the feast for anything mrs wilson another person comes to mind you know if they are if she was around no illness no nothing then we have kindness this is gentleness in dealing with others goodness the will to do what is good and that's an attribute of our great god because god is good and we have to develop that attribute of his character then we have faith which is moral conviction and faith is simply doing what god said we should do without knowing what the outcome is going to be and we'll get to that later because we have to go beyond that as apostle paul mentioned and its truthfulness faith is the truthfulness of god that means we do what god said we should do and rely on christ for salvation and we have gentleness our meekness and it's an even temporary disposition that has the passions under control and rules his own spirit well that's what meekness or gentleness is all about and then self-control mastery of self and this is what jesus had to say about fruit bearing he said by this my father is glorified that you bear much fruit and that for your notes john 15 and verse 8 so that's the second action we must be bearing the fruit of the spirit if we have the holy spirit having its nine attributes in our lives third action as we prepared for the bridegroom is to live by every word of god that jesus says it is written matthew 4 4 and luke 4 4 man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of god and in this apostle james gives us a warning you turn with me there james chapter 1 and brother we cannot live by every word of god if we are not studying god's word so i have to make it a daily practice to read from his word and know what is inside there and then we need to take corrective action as we see what we are doing what we are not should we we are not doing what we should be doing i think that we are doing that we should not be doing james swan breaking the thought verse 21 james one breaking the thought of verse 21 he said therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word which is able to save your souls but be doers of the word and not hear us only deceiving yourselves for if anyone is a hero of the word i'm not a door he's like a man observing his natural face in the mirror for he observes himself goes away and immediately forgets what kind of man he was but he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it and is not a forgetful hero but a doer of the work this one will be blessed in what he does yes so we have to be doers of the work we are in that work of preaching and publishing the good news of god's own common kingdom all the world and mr forbes addressed this morning when we come before our great god to give an offering that we shouldn't come before him inappropriately so here are a few things from this passage i should keep in mind it is self-deception to believe that salvation is merely attendance at worship services on the sabbath the holy days and we listen to the telecast or we listen to sermons on the internet and returning our tithes and our offerings that is not enough brethren the word that we are hearing it must transform our lives it must yes all of those things are required i remember christ uh chastised their scribes and pharisees yes they were doing those things they were scoop loss of the uh physical uh intent of the law but they were missing out on the spiritual intent you want to have god's holy spirit we have no no excuse the word must transform our lives not merely attendance here and doing those things we must the word must transform our lives that we develop more of the mind the character the attitude and the perfection that was in jesus christ our lord and our savior so again it's self-deception to believe that merely attending worship services and doing sabbath on the holy days hearing the word listening to the telecast the sermons and tithing and offerings no you have to go beyond that a word must transform our lives must be developing more of the mind the character the attitude than the perfection that was in jesus christ secondly if we are merely heroes of the world it is likely that we are going to forget can i observe that some persons don't take notes and yet i mean unless you have very good memories every guarantee that they said the empirical evidence showed two weeks from now you lose 75 of what you heard we need to have notes so we can go back and refresh ourselves and that's what i mentioned that we should each day and we get back home refresh ourselves by reviewing our notes so that we can retain more of it and third there's only those who act on the word and continues in it are going to receive the blessings and he just gave us warning about that and sometimes we believe it it's for those in out in the world but notice not yourself this was the sermon on the mount for his disciples by extension you and me and this is what he's saying to us in matthew 7. if you turn with me there matthew 7 and star verse 21. 27 21 we think this is oh those people go to church on sunday no this is for you and for me it said not everyone who says lord lord matthew 7 21 shall enter the kingdom of heaven but he who does the will of my father in heaven many will say to me in that day lord lord have we not prophesied in your name cast out demons in your name and done many wonders in your name then i will declare to them i never knew you depart from me you who practice lawlessness therefore whoever hears these things of mine and does them i would like like him to a wise man who built his house on the rock and the rain descended the floods came and the winds blew and beat on that house and it did fall or it was founded on the rock but everyone who hears these things of mine and does not do them we'll be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand and the rain descended the floods came and the winds blew and beat on that house and it fell and great was its fall so it's not enough to say lord lord for example some of us you know we're afraid to leave our houses because it's covered yes i know it's out there but yet it's not difficult for us to go to a supermarket and go to the farmers to get our medication but oh okay i'll come amongst god's people oh yes but they're going to tell girls i called it out here i think we can protect ourselves but then the simple fact is that god is not protecting you and there's no protection right we have to do what we need to do take the necessary precautions and that aspect but what we are commanded to do yeah we have to do it right shut up me she could have made and then could make an excuse the fire was there it was real but they decided no i'm going to obey the creator because that would be breaking his law so we have to be careful here we have to be living by every word of god the feast is not something that is optional it is a commanded assembly god makes an appointment and he invites us here and we are turning down his invitation we're not coming when we don't turn up and we have to be careful of that so the server on the moon illustrates the absolute necessity of doing the will of god and what is the will of god jesus tells us that in john 6 and verse 40 for your notes john 6 40 john 6 40 for your notes i'll read it for you jesus said there and this is the will of him who sent me that everyone who sees or recognizes the son and believes in him or obeys him as lord and master may have eternal life and i'll raise him up on the last day so if we want to be among those going to be raised up on the last therefore when this is a reality brethren then yes we must be doing the will of god and that is to believe on his son when we recognize one what he is our savior our lord and master high priest soon coming king and elder brother and we obey him as well then we'll be raised up at the last day so that's action number three living by every word of god action number four we have to be faithful you read in hebrews 11 6 for your notes again but without faith it is impossible to please him mean pleasing god for he who comes to god must believe that he exists that he is and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him and i said earlier that faith is doing what god says we should do without knowing what the outcome is going to be she said shadrach meshach and abednego didn't know what the outcome was going to be they know god could save them but they decided even if god decided not to save me yes i'm not going to disobey him so we need to have that approach and that attitude towards god's word and we cannot see god half-heartedly he said here diligently seek him that means we have to apply a sense of urgency we have to search more we have to investigate him as david said come and taste and see that the lord is good we have to do that individually i can't do it for you you can't do it for me and something else we need to recognize to as solomon said in ecclesiastes 9 and verse 10. again for your notes i'll read it for you he said whatever your hands find to do do with all your might for there's no work or device or knowledge in the grave where you are going so now we have the opportunity to bridge you and yes we need to be seeking him diligently because he's our water of those who diligently seek him have to have a sense of urgency in seeking him with all and doing with all our hearts and nothing let's notice what the faithful will be doing as we await the return of the bridegroom if you told me turn with me now to luke 12. luke 12. and break nothing verse 35 this is what we should be doing as we await the return of the bridegroom break into the thought he said let your waist be girded and your lumps burning yes after symbolic of the holy spirit yes and we have to be ready be prepared and yourselves be like men who wait for their master when he will return from the wedding when he come when he would when he will return from the wedding when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately blessed are those servants whom the master when he comes will find watching i surely say to you that he will girl himself and have them sit down to eat and will come and serve them yes there's a marriage supper being prepared for you and our brethren but we need to be doing what we should be doing and if you should come on the second watch or come in the third watch and find them so blessed are those servants but know this that if the master of the house had known that all the thief would come he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into therefore you also be ready and the son of man is coming at an hour that you do not expect and this goes for you and you and me brethren we do not know when christ is going to return the key here is to be ready and greater than the passage here signifies readiness for action lamps burning with oil symbolic that we have enough all in our alarms having enough of the holy spirit to sustain us as we await christ's return so here the disciples are compared to servants who are ready to serve their master immediately at his return the servants will be blessed are the ones who watch attentively and are prepared for their masters return because his return will be unexpected just as the coming of a thief in the night if you know when the team wasn't going to break into your house then you are being up watching for him but you don't know it's always unexpected so we have to be alert and be ready that's what jesus says here the parable of the minutes luke 19. what we should be doing as we prepare luke 19. i'm breaking the thought at verse 11. he said knowledge they heard these things he spoke another parable because he was near jerusalem and because they thought the kingdom of god would appear immediately again because i was back in the our former association when i came in uh i heard mr armstrong mentioned many times that we are on the gun lap he died in 1986 that was 35 years ago and we're still on the uh the god we don't know we can't set dates brethren we don't know we don't know and that's what's what jesus christ was explaining here he said therefore he said a certain nobleman went to a far country to receive for himself kingdom and to return so he called 10 of his servants delivered to them 10 minutes and said to them do business till i come and that's what you and i shall be doing do business we have gotten the holy spirit then we have to use that holy spirit based on the gift that comes our gifts that comes with it to use it to serve our filament to serve our elder brother and our heavenly father his citizens hated him and sent a delegation after him saying we will not have this man to reign over us and so it was that when he returned having received the kingdom he then commanded these servants whom he had given the money to be called to him that he may know how much every man had gained by trading then came the first saying master your mana has earned 10 minutes yes he uses holy spirit on symbolic of that menace symbolic of the holy spirit and has earned 10 minutes and he said to him well done good servant because you were faithful in very little of authority over 10 cities so what he was given yes he used it all of us have different talents different gifts different abilities so we need to look on each other and think that is going to be a determination again as mr forbes mentioned this morning in the offertary when christ observed those who were putting money into the treasury he said he observed them putting in on the rich showing much but this weed up trolling all she had she gave more than everyone else because she gave out of her penury she gave her whole livelihood right so we all have different talents give some abilities god knows he knows why he um he give according to our ability and this we have to work according to that ability because we'll go back again to the the parable of the soul or the soil whichever you want to look on it he said the ones who understand may be a fruit some 100 some 60 some 30. so we're not we don't have all same talents and abilities and gifts but we all have the holy spirit and we are expected to be a fruit and he said to him well done good and faithful servant you were faithful and very little have authority over ten cities and the second came saying master yamina has earned five minutes likewise he said to him you also be over five cities then another came saying master here is your mena which i've kept and put away in a handkerchief for i feared you because you're an austere man and you collect what you did not deposit and reap what you did not so and he said to him out of your own mouth i will judge you you wicked servant you knew that i was an austere man collecting what i did not deposit and reaping what i did not sow why then did you not put out my money in the bank but at my coming i might have collected it with interest and he said to those who stood by take the minute from him and give it to him who has 10 minutes but they said to him master he has 10 minutes and this is interesting because they they are saying that if you want to get something done find a man who is very busy and give him more responsibility to get it done so that was what is happening here he he did well he was faithful yes give him more responsibility verse 26 for i say unto you that to everyone who has will be given and from him who does not have even what he has will be taken away from him but bring here those enemies of mine who did not want me to reign over them and slay them before me so brethren have been given god's holy spirit let us stir up that spirit and use the gift our gifts that comes with it for the benefit of the congregation here and those who may come in contact with and then serving our elder brother and our heavenly father so that action number four that was to be faithful action number five we must be developing the mind of christ developing the mind of christ and christ is the perfect example of humility and an encouraging version of philippi and by extension you and me develop humid humility and unity this is what apostle paul said to the philippines and in that passage we're going to read in philippians 2 use some if clauses here which are use them as incentives for virgin there and for us to fulfill the injunction that he gave philippians too if you turn with me there philippians 2 mr western reddit last night he said therefore if there's any consolation in christ or encouragement yes he encourages us and he gives us the holy spirit as well if in the comfort of love yes he loves unconditionally in the fellowship of the spirit he prayed for us in john 17 that we all may be one as he's one with the father because we have all been given that a spirit if any affection or love and mercy loving kindness and here's what the injunction is fulfill my joy by being like-minded it's all the same to all of us to be like-minded having the same love being of one accord of one mind let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit but in loneliness of mine let each esteem others better than himself so notice a few things from this passage encouragement in christ obliges us to heed his instructions and those of his ministers and i've said this sometimes it's interesting and i've heard it i'm individuals they're coming to the church since i've been in charge and they asked for to be baptized their counsel they are baptized and for some individuals as soon as they are baptized no you can't tell them anything and they they know everything you know what we need to understand all of us need to understand you can't baptize yourself i come but i cannot baptize myself and every acts of baptism what we are doing we are putting ourselves under the government of jesus christ in his church and you have heard it many times from here from everyone god used imperfect people to carry out his work to lead his people you can look in the bible and you can come up with one perfect one except jesus christ then we can have a conversation right right so we have to follow the instructor and and as apostle paul said because that is occavia and first first corinthians 11 verse 1 that imitate me as i imitate jesus christ if they are going off and try going off track then you'll have no instruction no no authority to follow them if they are going off track so we follow them as they follow christ yes so encouragement in christ obliges us to heed his instructions on those of his ministers second comfort of love should unite us to a common action and to carry out the great commission and that's what we have been called to do as mr armstrong used to say if we are just called for salvation god could wait until the second resurrection to call us but he's calling us now to be part of our work preaching and publishing the good news of the soon coming kingdom into all the world bring that warning witness to the nations and again mr father and some of that and to be trained by participation in this great work for positions of rulership in the kingdom and established and that's why we are here today so comfort of law should should unite us to a common action and to carry out the great commission and the holy spirit that we have it makes oneness possible oneness with the father with jesus christ and with one another and when we understand the oneness you also need to recognize that there is although we all have the holy spirit there's a command there's a chain of command in the hierarchy if you look at it briefly if you turn with me to john 10 and verse 30. although we are one recognize that there is hierarchy in the family because i mentioned earlier that we are obliged in uh will be the instructions of christ ministers john 10 verse 30 that's what jesus said there at the end of the verse last verse 30 years he said i and my father are one and then if you go to verse chapter 14 and verse 28 14-28 and there he states he says you have heard me say to you i'm going away and coming back to you if you loved me you would rejoice because i said i'm going to the father and my father is greater than i so even in the god family yes christ submarine himself to the will of the father and there's going to be a hierarchy in the kingdom throat all eternity so we should recognize that understand that and live accordingly so the holy spirit makes oneness with our heavenly father and our elder brother jesus christ and with one another and it reveals also that there's a chain of command in the god family and number four affection and mercy are tenderness and compassion and those are all attributes of the father and the son that we have to develop and how we respond to situations as we see needs arise notice in jesus christ the example he says here in matthew 9 matthew 9 affection and mercy our tenderness and compassion are attributes of our elder brother jesus christ and our heavenly father and this is how we respond to situations when there and there is a recognized need or a responsive situation when there is a recognized need notice jesus example in matthew 9. i feel nine all right bring the thought of verse 36. now let's start with 35 to get the context here verse 35 matthew 9 said then jesus went about all the cities and villages teaching in their synagogues preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every disease among the people but when he saw the multitudes he was moved with compassion for them because they were weary and scattered like sheep having no shepherd then he said to his disciples the harvest is truly plenteous sorry but the laborers are few therefore pray the lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest and when we look around the world brethren let me see what is happening the deception is going on in the world yes we have to pray for the kingdom to come and to come quickly in verse 2 apostle if if those if our clauses our incentives were fulfilled the apostles would experience joy for her to complete his joy the virgin including you and me had things to do he said we are to be like-minded or be of the same mind doing the right things we're going to be like-minded yes we have to be of the same mind doing right things same love it was an attribute of the spirit and we have the spirit then yes there should be love that's christ commander so john 13 34 and 35 us how the world we know we are his disciples that we have love one for the other we all have that capacity to love because i've been shut about in our hearts by the holy spirit then unity of the spirit and mind and that should exist between us and we should single-mindedly proclaim the gospel that jesus christ proclaimed it has to be one gospel we all have to be representing our heavenly father and we all have to be christ ambassadors we all have to be pioneers of a new way of life and living to the ideals are the standards of this soon coming kingdom that's what we represent and that's what apostle paul was saying here to the philippines and then he said we are to avoid selfish motives and empty pride but with a deep sense of humility and honest evaluation considers others above ourselves now let me read that again so we have to avoid selfish motives and empty pride but with a deep sense of humility and honest self-evaluation consider others above ourselves and we can only do this brethren through humility because we always think we can do somebody else's job better than that but remember god is the one who placed us individually in the church where he wants us to be so with me i got to go to the heavenly father don't take it out on me i didn't place myself here or anybody else in position of leadership however this does not mean that we should have a false sense our unrealistic view of our own gifts when compared with that of others and we are not alluding here to moral superiority superiority some persons yes they are very gifted i remember when i came into the church um someone told me that garnet armstrong could come up here and give a sermon without looking into the bible because he knew the word so much that he could give a sermon without turning to the peace of the bible and give you the right scripture reference to turn to you have persons are gifted that way some persons are good or reactors have different skills and abilities god gives them to us so we're not talking about here about moral superiority and we also to avoid self-centeredness and he said with humble mindedness to look out for the interest of others and that doesn't that doesn't mean we will overlook our own interest as well but as i said we have to love our neighbors as we love ourselves so look out for our own interest and look out for the interest of others and if we do that then he verse five go back to philippians 2 and that's where he was heading because that is the objective if we are doing those things europeans 2 and verse 5. he said let this might be in you which was also in christ jesus who being in the form of god did not consider robbery to be equal with god or something to be held on to we know that he divest himself of his divinity he came the lastness of man and he surrendered himself to the death on the cross but he made himself have no reputation taking on the form of a bound servant yes he did it willingly for you and for me coming in the likeness of men and being found in the appearance of a man he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death even death on the cross and we know that is the cruelest of all capital punishment death by crucifixion and that's what he suffered for you and i um he gave up his life god life that you and i may have the hope of life eternal so a godly mind begins with the renewing of the mind and that's what romans 12 1 1-2 tells us if we're going to develop the mind of christ this is what we should be doing romans 12 in addition to what is lifted there in philippians 2 1 to 4 romans 12. apostle paul again he said i beseech you i urge you therefore brethren romans 12 1 by the mercies of god that you present your bodies a living sacrifice holy acceptable to god which is your reasonable service and you know what was offered as a sacrifice it had to be without blemish could be sick it couldn't be lame that is why you and i we need to ensure that when we present ourselves before our great god i come in his presence we don't have sins in our lives you're not repenting off we are aware of them we should repent before we come whatever if we're going to offer praise our thanksgiving unto him that we do it in a proper manner and he said do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of god so right thinking produces right actions that's what the holy spirit does it brings god's truth or remembrance so they can't think our thinking processes can be right and what is the required of us is that display the same mind and attitude and the character that was in jesus christ our lord and our savior while he was here on this planet and we are to think and act like he does i had to think and act like he does as he said he didn't consider it equality with god something to hold on to but he willingly gave it up that you and i can have the opportunity to be in his kingdom so that was action number five that we have to develop the mind of christ action number six we have to endure to the end you have to endure to them as i mentioned earlier we heard i don't know if that's the reason why when the changes came some person get dishearted because we heard it was the gun lap then within years and years and nothing happened then changes came and then some people cut and run but we have to endure to the end we have been admonished by the leaders in the church to keep the big picture in mind whatever is going on in our lives to keep the big picture in mind and as i said if you even live 250 years this life is still short and there's no comparison to eternal life so we all just need to keep that big picture in mind jesus christ did notice hebrews 12. as we said we have to think and act like he does but like he did while he was here on planet earth hebrews 12. hebrews 12. start verse 1. he said hebrews 12 1 he said therefore we also since we are surrounded by so greater cloud of witnesses let us say our side every weed and the sin which so easily ensures ensnares us and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us this code of weakness is talking about is the heroes of faith you know and you you you go through that list because sometimes we believe that it was the peaches and cream for those heroes of faith no it wasn't like that if you look at verse 36 hebrews 11. you look at verse 36 speaking of some of those heroes of faith i said still others had trial of mockings and scourging yes beatings apostle paul said he had it five what five times from the jews 39 lashes um yes enough chains and imprisonment they were stoned they were saw in two they didn't have power stars in those days so can you imagine slowly on excruciating pain before death they were slain with the sword they were tempted they were slain with the sword they wandered about in sheepskins and goat skins being destitute afflicted tormented of whom the world was not worthy they wandered in deserts and mountains in dens and caves of the earth and all these having obtained a good testimony through faith did not receive the promise but having provided something better for us that they should not be made perfect apart from us so that is the cloud of witness that we have that's what they have gone through and they are going to be in the resurrection when the feast of talinacruz is a reality continue verse hebrews 12 1 says so let us run with endurance the race that is set for us it's not a sprint brethren it's a marathon we have to continue to the end looking unto jesus the author of the originator and the perfecter of our faith who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross despising the shame and i sat down at the right hand of the throne of god and what is what he said before us between his eternal life share god's glory with him for all eternity as we need to keep in mind and as i've said we have to lay aside the weight and the sins that so easily ensnares us we have to run with patience with endurance this race faith is a race it's not a sprint as i say it's an endurance and the world here for patients can also be translated endurance and the new king james story by recommending it the word among other things as follows it says it's perseverance bearing up steadfastness patience endurance it describes the capacity to continue to bear up under difficult circumstances not with a passive complacency but with hopeful fortitude that actively resist weariness and defeat means we cannot give up brethren we cannot give up we should not give up and that's why we have to have our eyes fixed trustingly on jesus christ whose attention was not on the suffering of the cross but rather the glory that he had before with the father he was going to be restored to the glory of his father sit at his right hand so likewise you and i also need to have the perfect perspective of the proper perspective and trust and test and trials as part of our preparation as we await the bridegroom and this is the perspective that james gives us in james chapter one as we endure to the end whatever that will be whether when we are alive in christ return or we would take our rest until the resurrection jim swan breaking the third verse two so this should be a proper perspective on trials because we are going to have them uh possibilities that is through much tribulation that we're going to enter the kingdom and peter tells them about the fiery trials that's going to test us so we haven't gone through any of that as yet james one star verse two he said my brethren count it all job and you fall into various triathlon tests now you and i know that i'm not going through trails we don't find any joy inside of it and yet i don't want to come out as fast as possible so we know how to pray to god and ask him help us to learn the lesson as fast as we can so we can get out of the trials knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience or endurance but let patients have its perfect work that you may be perfect or mature and complete lacking nothing so that is the purpose of our tests and our trials make us mature to make us complete producing in us the result that god expected and hope i can always go back to job situation and his trials and notice that in the end he was restored we know that job had a problem he was self-righteous but job did what was right in god's sight and if you read the prologue to job you realize that that was there was none like him on the earth how good would that be for you and i if god could look down on each other and say this group there's none like them on the earth that would be a good commendation for us but yet we saw the trial that he went through and he came through the test and we know too from first corinthians 10 13 that god is not going to test us beyond we are able whatever try as we get he knows that we are able to bear up underneath as i said he will grant us that we have escape out of the trial and we know that those trials are for a reason we might not know the reason what they are they have their own purpose and really no internet so trials are not given to destroy or afflict us but to rather to purge to refine and to purify our faith with the end result to produce endurance he said romans 8 28 all things work together for good for those who love god and those who are called according to his purpose yes we're going to get them we are going to get them and god knows why he knows what we what is required for our character to be perfected so that we can reign with christ when he returns and if we are going to receive the promises promised to us we have to endure to the end matthew 24 13 tells us that he that shall endure to the end shall be saved shall be delivered so yes we have to go on to the end we must endure to the end final action action number seven we must go in faith remember we read earlier in hebrews 11 6 that without faith it's impossible to please please god but apostle peter who was there he revealed to us that we should have we should add things to our faith if we are going to be in the kingdom you reveal to us that with speed and eagerness we are to add to our faith because of the exceeding great and precious promises that have been given to us so we can make our calling and our election sure not the second peter chapter one i restarted verse two second peter one we start verse three ii peter one and verse three he said blessed be the god and father for our lord jesus christ who according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of jesus christ from the dead so true that resurrection we have hope that we too if we die in the faith with the holy spirit yes we'll be raised to everlasting life to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away reserved in heaven for you who are kept by the power of god through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time oh sorry i'm at that second peter oh sorry i'm reading first people i'm sorry about that yeah second peter started verse two uh yeah he said sorry about that he said grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of god of jesus our savior as his divine powers give to us all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of him who called us by glory and virtue divine power is the holy spirit that has been given to us that we can live godly lives he said by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature having exceeded the corruption or the deprivity that is in this world through lust so through the holy spirit we can grow and develop the mind of friends we can resist the fiery darts of the evil one verse five but also for this very reason giving all diligence add to your faith virtue to virtue knowledge to knowledge self-control to self-control perseverance or endurance or patience and to patience godliness godliness brotherly kindness and to brotherly kindness love so let's look at each of these individually first he said that's artwork virtue this is valor our courage and in this age we need it in order to be a committee of one [Music] to stand up for the truth we are the only person in the room yes we have to stand up we need that courage moral courage to do what is right and do right things at all times i remember joshua was told at the eternal to be strong and to be courageous and you and i have to be strong and to be courageous if you're going to live this life successfully you can take for your notes joshua 1 and verse 7. so we two have to be strong and courageous in order to the eternal reality business until the feast of tabernacles is a reality so we need first joshua 1 7 sorry secondly knowledge this act of knowing and i mentioned that earlier that we're going to be priests on the lips of the priests retained knowledge because the people will come to us for understanding of god's way so the act of knowing and we have to know the truth god better jesus christ jesus christ tells us that our eternal life depends on it for your notes john 17 and verse 3 and he said this is eternal life that they may know you that show unliving god and jesus christ home you have sinned so we have to get to know our heavenly father and our elder brother more intimately and solomon tells us clearly but wisdom knowledge and understanding comes from the eternal you can take for your notes proverbs 2 and verse 6. and that's another reason why we must study the word of god third self-control that we are to add to our faith that is the master of self or self discipline first of all give us an idea how we can perfect that you can take for your notes first corinthians 9 24-27 first corinthians 9 24-27 and what are you saying there we cannot allow ourselves to do what it wants to do naturally we have to discipline the self all right so with the flex self do what we want self to do and not what we would do instinctively because we have god's holy spirit and patience or cheerful endurance or perseverance and the writer of the hebrews tells us that we need this if we are going to receive the promises what is hebrews chapter 10. hebrews 10. breaking the thought of verse 36. hebrews then started starting at verse 36 breaking into the thought he said for you have need of endurance or patience or patience continuance so that after you have done the will of god you may receive the promise for yet a little while and he who is coming will come and will not tarry you know this was written almost 2 000 years ago and he still has not returned so we have to ensure that we now just said we need endurance develop that attribute of the spirit and he who is coming will come and will not i will not delay now the just shall live by faith but everyone if anyone draws back my soul has no pleasure in him but we are not of those who draw us back to destruction but of those who believe to the saving of the soul and this is why we are here brethren you're not going to draw back i have the big picture in mind then we are to add to our faith godliness our holiness and this being devoted to god and his purpose devotion to god and his purpose and hebrews 12 and verse 14 and it tells us that we should pursue peace and holiness with which no one will see the lord at hebrews 12 and verse 40. so we have to develop godliness or holiness and next we're to add brotherly kindness or love of the brethren romans 12 10 for your notes romans 12 and verse 10 it said be kindly affectionate or be warm and caring to one another with brotherly love in honor giving preference to one another so we shall have love of the virgin and to cap that all agape to love as god loves unconditionally and what he commands us to do to love him above all else with our hearts soul mind body and strength and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves and if we do those things but we notice what apostle peter said will happen dr ii peter 1 and verse 8. ii peter one and verse eight there he said for if these things are yours and abound you will neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our lord jesus christ for he who lacks these things is short-sighted even to blindness and has forgotten that he was the cleanse from his old sins therefore bedridden be even more diligent with a sense of urgency here to make your calling on election sure but if you do these things you will never stumble so for some entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our lord and savior jesus christ brethren you and i have been given a glorious opportunity to understand the plan and the purpose that god is working out down here below and to have a part in that plan so let us put these things into practice and remember the words of jesus christ in mark 13 33-37 mark 13 33-37 and there he says take heed watch and pray for you do not know when the time is it's like a man going to a far country who left his house and gave authority to his servants and to each his work and commanded the doorkeeper to watch watch therefore for you do not know when the master of the house is coming in the evening at midnight at the corner of the rooster or in the morning less coming suddenly he find you sleeping and what i say to you i say to all watch hmm for the ten things him this feast or the sixth for this afternoon it won't be long now the drop is not here with a lion and a little boy but days when the apostles live and walk with our savior jesus christ on this earth those were the good days and they take advantage of the time they spend with our savior jesus christ because it is heaven and father that things will have gotten tough in the end and so today lord with our young hour old help us to understand that the days ahead it will not be easy so we need to listen to our teachers now we need to develop the very mind of our savior jesus christ right now because very soon satan will be released he will unleash his wrath upon your people we know lord that that will
