and welcome to a very special share indeed usually we have a world famous personality it's rabbi budenheim gets the honor of making the introductions but this time what can i say a celebrity is none other than my own son tell me a singer you all know my son toby a pioneer in the fight against missionaries but let me tell you just a couple of words about his early years you ready toby was always a the final lecture of an enormous series of programs that i've presented here in the united states i'm i moved third stroll i made aliyah a little more than two years ago moved from indonesia where this audience who came over to me this evening earlier and asked me what do i do about the missionaries i encounter on the streets of new york it is not a satisfying experience i am sure there are some of you sitting here tonight who've engaged with these missionaries an elderly jewish man was observing this spectacle whole family was out there he took me by the arm he schlepped me away from them and told me to not bother arguing with these missionaries and also inform me that i did not know enough to engage with these people i was very surprised by that because as it turns out i had to achieve education and i was not certain that these people were even jewish what do you mean i don't know enough and it was in fact the following fall just a few months later i came to israel for the first time my uncle zahinal of greeted me as it turned out the previous shabbos before i had arrived in arizona my uncle had a unusual guest at his home a christian minister who he engaged with at a bookstore he left my uncle's home he gave him a gift and i guess as a gratitude thank you what did he give him the king james bible red letter edition this is the fancy one and he was very proud of this you give a look at what i have like he had like he had the the manual from the other team give a look at it let's give a look at what we got here and i i told him that's exactly what i wanted to read when i began to study it and i was shocked i was it was much worse than i had ever imagined much worse i had no idea but it solved many questions of why they hated us so much i didn't understand why people who were not jewish despised our people so much are they nuts are they crazy have they look and then i read this literature i read this grotesque screed and i realized there was nothing wrong with these games they were reading literature and drawing the only possible conclusion and that is that the jews are the devil a completely rational conclusion after reading the gospels there was nothing wrong with luther as it turns out that experience which i share with audiences was not the earliest experience that set me up for a life that i have pursued and it hit me driving here this but somehow i discovered that that temple the rabbi was a lady and to me as a kid this was just something that was just wow and they had this thing that was like that and my f i asked my dad what is that he said it was their version of a suku and i began to i my father was driving i was i don't know how old was i i don't know and and i began to laugh at them as we were just passing by going towards route 3 this temple lady rabbi a sucker that was kind of a thing that people just passed whatever it was i just began to laugh at them in a very very derisive way and my father said to me don't laugh at them they don't know enough they don't understand they're innocent these people just don't get it love them reach out to them but don't mock them they don't know and in fact it falls upon us beneterra to guide and not to mock and to love every jew and that really was my formidable experience where i realized that in some way in some measure i needed i must reach out to jewish people in a way with enormous amount of love the problem of missionary activity is not young and it didn't begin at the advent of the christian religion it goes all the way back in the navy elio are jewish by birth these people will never succeed in evangelizing a jew never why because jewish people regardless of their background are repelled by apostates jewish people you know they're not they're very uncomfortable with that the people who succeed if you ask that cousin of yours if you ask your brother's daughter if you asked your friend's sister who you know is involved in this tell me who is the first person to witness to you i can almost assure you that first person would be someone who is not jewish at all jewish people are comfortable speaking to non-jews who are christians there's a guy so he's a christian loves israel even better so it's easy to have that conversation rule two is it's not going to be a professional missionary it's not going to be someone on the streets uh someone who works for first fruits of zion someone who's employed by chosen people ministries a baptist mission to the jews jews for jesus is very famous which began in 1973 it's going to be someone who your cousin is going to meet in a university campus he's someone that your friend is going to meet in a cafe place of work it's this army of lay gentile evangelical christians these are the people who are successful in evangelizing jewish people these folks believe firmly believe that there's an imperative to convert the jews now bear in mind that fundamentalist christians want to convert the world not just the jews people sometimes ask me they say to me rabbi i go to a baseball game i'm watching a football and people holding up big signs john 3 16. i see it on a bumper sticker john 3 16 and people ask me rabbi what does it say in this pussac that's so important that it just says so i said it says that god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so anyone who would believe in would not perish but have everlasting life i am sure i'm not sure but i have a feeling a sneaking suspicion my father right now is not thinking to himself wow thank god i paid for all that tuition all those years i just have a feeling that i'm going well sending me sheep all those years at least he and now i know he paid attention and all that investment in his whole career and his left wingers i wish i could tell you that i wish i could tell you these that sione who are complete no they're not it's people we would all expect much more from so much pressure to stop that kind of activity so much pressure to stop what's going on throughout the country these evangelical christians firmly believe that in order for jesus to make a second coming the jews have to be converted christianity had to invent a second coming because nothing happened in the first one it didn't go too well second coming isn't that terrific second coming an excuse for a religion that's a failure second coming that anybody could be the messiah it could be my sister-in-law i don't have a sister-in-law it's not a problem how could be anybody second coming completely invented idea in fact in the navi in tanakh we have a few hundred passages a few hundred sukim that are messianic that describe the end of days and very few not many there are that describe meshiach himself very very few but relations problem and just by expressing all this love for the jews that would not address this core reason why jews don't want to be christians and i'm talking about very religious and that's because jewish people they also concluded are very proud of their jewish identity now you know sound a little strange to you but just stay with me on this one jewish people they concluded even those who are counterfeit currency that had been confiscated new recruits they study all kinds of countable money they become experts in it became it and this way they can identify right away you must have some collection there and they said to me rabbi that's not the way we train our agents here the way we train our agents how to detect counterfeit currency is we show them real money real american money i didn't know this is printed on a paper there's no other paper like in the world and this country ensures that no one else can reproduce it there are not just engravings but there are fine line complex engravings in the bill in the picture if you look closely at george washington's shadel it's in there there are shifting watermarks in the bill hold it different directions there are little fibers blue red little schmutz in the paper these agents learn everything there is to know about real money why because you take an agent with that kind of training and you dare put a count of it in his hand he will know it immediately what am i saying to you holy kinder look what am i saying to my dear brothers and sisters am i suggesting to you that in order for you to protect your sons and daughters against these missionaries that want to convert them am i suggesting that maybe they should become experts in matthew they should know the book of luke by heart they should know all the gospels and all the epistles of peter incite coming in because they move the book of mark 678 and they know everyone and literally nothing you're wasting your time and worse teach them the real thing that teach them the holy scriptures teach them the ideas that were conveyed by the greatest men and women that ever lived if they know their holy scriptures they understand the greatest oracles that have ever been recorded no missionary will ever be able to rob them of their faith their connection to haco de gea to the holy one blessed be his holy name i have a deep gratitude to my father for everything
