FAST 9 CARS WE'LL SEE (RELOAD)

what's up everybody craig lieberman back at you with another episode if you watched the super bowl on february 7th 2021 you might have noticed another teaser trailer for the upcoming fast nine there have been other trailers that have been released in the last 12 or 15 months or so this movie of course has been pushed back multiple times and as of this video's release date it's scheduled for may 28 2021 but now with the covet vaccination rollout pending there are talks of pushing this movie back even further until later this year no date was specified or mentioned other than to say possibly later this year that comes from the source was variety magazine there are several details that have now emerged through various sources and with this recent trailer i can now finally talk about some of the cars that we're going to see in the movie while i've had this information for nearly a year i had to sit on it until elements became more public and now with the new trailer i can go ahead and talk about these cars so with that said let's dig into the car list at least what we know about it first of all japanese car fan boys and girls will be happy to hear that there will be at least a few good tuner cars in the movie and here's a partial list of the tuner cars you can expect to see look for a hachiroko ae86 corolla an fd3s rx7 of course a mark 4 supra a mark 5 supra the new 400 horsepower infinity q60 will be on hand a 240z will be in there a 370z will be in there and as the trailer showed a toyota brz ft-86 and of course an r34 gtr will now be making an appearance as we all saw on the trailer hot rodders and muscle cars include the following a fox body mustang an srt jeep a hellcat wide body charger or two or three more sacrificial dodge charger cop cars those are disposable an early 70s nova a pontiac fiero rocket car a newer body mustang a new ford gt and a dodge tantrum carbon charger like the one given to vin diesel that car when equipped with a 9 liter mercury marine bone engine it can make up to 1650 horsepower jay leno drove one did a test drive with it last year there will also be some element of a nascar presence probably a flashback to dom's dad and if my sources are accurate a few off-road trucks using dodge charger internals and possibly a couple of hellcat shells riding on off-road truck underpinnings so once again dennis mccarthy's team has pulled out all the stops should be magnificent so who's driving what well we know han will spend some time in a mark v supra dom will be of course in a dodge in fact probably several john cena will be in a mustang gt500 at least for a little bit as for the rest of the character's car choices you're going to have to wait until the movie is released sorry i don't have much more to talk about there i understand that some people might be saying oh god here we go it's another dodge commercial but so what the charger and challenger have dominated the muscle car presence in this country for the last 10 years while there are great versions of the mustang in several of these movies dodge is spending millions and millions to lock in their dominance in these movies so you pay you get to play that's the way it works all around though there's pretty good diversity in the cars but what about the story what do we know about the story well given the spy slash heist slash revenge slash family reunion elements the plot might be a bit predictable but with a few twists and at the end we can expect the usual family is everything barbecue ceremonial barbecue pretty much the way they're going in short more of the same at least for the first part of the movie but jdm fanboys will have to wait until the end of the movie which is where the tuner cars will come into focus but don't get too excited they won't be on screen for all that long my sources tell me that the tuner cars will make a very short appearance at the end of the movie as a teaser or sort of a lead-in into fast 10. we'll have to see how they edit the sequence in post-production to see how much screen time these cars actually get although i've hinted at a jdm presence for more than a year in 2018 i suggested publicly in one of my videos that bringing in the children of brian and dom would be a good way to introduce the future of the franchise and it looks like they're going to do exactly that now with actor finn cole on the imdb cast list it all but confirms what i've been hearing from seth that he will play brian's son who will be depicted as being of high school age in this film this implies that the end of fast nine will fast forward to about 16 years or so from 2013 when little jack bryant son was first mentioned in fast six it'll be interesting to see how the timeline makes sense in the already jumbled timeline of the fast franchise but universal has been able to dance around this more than once overall everything fits though finn cole looks like a child of brian and he's young enough to play a high school version of brian sung this is also likely tied to the appearance of the r34 at the end of the movie it would make sense for brian's son to be driving such a car fin cole is joined by two other new faces anna sawai and vinnie bennett no idea what roles are going to be playing although i've had to guess vinnie would be dom's son like so many movie franchises eventually it becomes time to pass the torch to the new blood star wars did it star track did it and so too should the fast franchise i've long said that introducing the son of dom and brian sun jack is the way to move the franchise forward just like star wars and star trek has done it just simply works as dom and the crew grow up mature and try to settle down really what's the one thing that can bring them back to a life of guns and car chases and bad villains and all that kind of stuff and that the only thing that i can think of is if their kids were in danger so this makes absolute sense i fully expect to see a plot line like that be further developed in fast 10 which will likely be a cliffhanger for fast 11 according to a statement from vin diesel last year and as of right now fast 11 would bring this version of the fast series to an end that is the last movie in this part of the series they haven't announced another series yet but it would be silly to think that universal would let the franchise die after the last movie of this run i say this because movie studios after all are a business and businesses don't stop selling their most profitable product they modify it they adapt it bring it to new markets but they keep on churning out that product i know some people say that the series should have died with paul or after tokyo drift or something like that but i'm going to have to disagree why because the growth in this hobby has been undeniable connected by social media and a love of this new franchise new audiences have become interested in cars more people are now modifying cars today than ever before you can go any car show and you can figure that out for yourself i attribute this growth at least in part to the fast franchise and while these movies aren't really about street racing anymore they are still about cars in what other movie series can you see custom built cars get launched flung flipped crashed burnt and sent into orbit oh wait i can't think of one further i can critique the films and question some of their choices all i want that's what movie reviewers like me do there's something else i appreciate about these movies the actors and actresses of this franchise have been a part of our lives for years and in some cases decades i'm always happy to see them with every new movie i walk into the theater happy to see what i consider to be a part of my extended family it's the same way i feel about james bond movies i know they're not real or even realistic but it's like watching a stripper don't ask how it's done just enjoy the show that's why dad used to say that not really i just made that up hey just remember it could be worse kids 20 years from now might be watching the fast and furious with all electric cars and fake engine noises no god please no but the tuner car portion of fast nine might be a short segment let's hope that we'll see a bit more of it in fasthead that's it for this episode thanks for watching and don't
