Falling In Love With Pittsburgh

i-isn't Pittsburgh like more on a map like that because this place is awesome and it looked like the whole city is carved out of a mountain I mean but it's beautiful [Music] [Music] see that you wanna go to sleep the only thing you wanna be is back to your trees things happen things you can't foresee it's 1:15 [Music] [Music] [Laughter] [Music] just arrived here in Pittsburgh you see the bees behind me you know that means no public transportation right first things first got to get settled drop off my stuff nothing special the new hotel though got a load of you what up Pittsburgh I've been forgetting to do my intro lately what's going on it's anton from anton Daniels calm did you just turn the arrow at the gas station Rita goes in and she's talking to the attendant the guy and he's like yeah you know what are you guys here for whatever I she was like yeah we from Michigan so like puzzle comes on his face I guess and he says what are you guys doing here like it's an issue coming to Pittsburgh and then I guess he proceeds to tell us or tell her that there's nothing here like nothing here to see it's not really a place for Taurus is not really interesting nothing to do but right away right when we checked into our hotel we're around a bunch of stuff to do restaurants a bunch of stuff lots of things to do but we're not trying to really stay in the hotel the hotel is just some place to sleep I guess right away we can just get straight to it see what's happening in Pittsburgh so we're gonna just go out and explore and see what's happening I think Rita is completely taken by this place she loved it another thing that I also want to mention is that it's super hilly here like they've really incorporated I guess they've carved out the mountains in order to build their city and their highways and all that other type of stuff that is really dope like the view that you get driving in a downtown Pittsburgh is nothing like I've ever seen before so enough googling over the city and all of that we just kicked it with a guy and he was just telling us about all of these art shows and all that is different stuff that's going on and I before I do that I just really want to capture this bridge because I think the view that they have towards the baseball stadium and everything like that is so dope it's so [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] go to Detroit it's so awesome in our scenario so you know Albert Kaun and everything like that okay so write an hour huh not get anybody this change significantly apparently this is my first time visiting my ever since Berg is just please take a card feel free to keep in touch okay I don't have a process I just like treat the campus most most creatives don't think I have a friend who's a painter he spent six months then he is doing seven by seven feet and Jesus well you see he's got 24 of a minute space so for me a lot of times I can come up with an idea and write my best product and I listen as you're writing up your work I can start something and then come back to it six months later great when I get the right inspiration that set for a year in Bowl around and that's why I was wondering is does that then you have the same time yes it just comes to me like a sound the chair of my studio [Music] you don't like [Music] no time dog doing weird stuff like this you know for me two three days in a city it's more than enough once I get a feel for the city the first day I just kind of browse and get lost or whatever no specific agenda the second day I kind of nodded I got that feel I can start really navigating third day you know them son I can kind of put a stamp on it kick it with some people go to some places outside of it I'm good and that's any city I don't care what city it is like I'm good well you don't they are raising all that Vegas is all the same it's just a bunch of casinos I mean it's not a whole lot how long did it take for you to do this I might be twenty three hours now amongst how many days or is that Street that's just 22 hours so about right now I'm at 22 I think total and then I should finish this by 26 hours something like that do you do other projects at the same time yes your job just like that's why you look at that one right there also this was really doing that earlier so that's drawing now I'm gonna go to this one now normally I would have with separate spaces of course but since I'm here on my you know I'm going to keep it here but I'll have to bring it in the back you know and let nobody you know still wet that'll be dry by the month like actually this is probably dry right now a very thin layer this will be wet because I'm using oil medium so how many hours will you usually use will it will plummet as a total because it's a little bit more detail with the city you know probably 30 to 33 hours so you know I'm sorry it does know they could take you anywhere between 20 and 40 hours to do grunting a big project smaller one so don't forget about 15 to 20 so good this is so good I'm not even gonna try to start getting in shape until that I think is cool about Pittsburgh and some of the cities that you just talked about you visited I was raised in Pittsburgh my parents were from the Northside girls went to school here and then I moved to Nashville when you talked about I actually altogether I was in Nashville Knoxville I lived maybe in 15 different cities came back to Pittsburgh about eight years ago because my family was here think about Pittsburgh that's cool is it's very diverse it's an eclectic group of folks that kind of embrace people from all cultures and our walks of life there again I will talk to you a little bit about the Strip District which is kind of unique so many different people from different countries came to Pittsburgh in the cultural district kind of embraces hey whether you're polish or wherever you're here it's this wild group of kind of like open markets it's a cool place to go on Saturdays it's actually cool to go during the way tomorrow yeah Campbell is is a great place to have breakfast hmm part of their plan to stay they have these really thin great pancakes these amazing potatoes but Obama when he came down actually took the chef I think it was from Pamela's to the White House to them how to do that same but if you guys go down you'll see what I'm talking about it's kind of this wild unique you know that's different places the most interesting part about this time right now I don't even remember how to get to my heart I mean I'm not worried about it understand [Music] it's a heck of a day weather is beautiful outside sun is shining I just woke up so we bout to go and get some breakfast and that recap today people that are cleaning up the rooms and stuff there's about to come in on me negative that and that's cool I don't mind but it was this funny that came so early bro it's only like nine something play this is a veggie sausage I'm gonna try it out and let's see what it's like veggie sausage eggs thank you champions baby first and foremost let me just say that this entire city is just like absolutely gorgeous I love the fact that everything is like it looked like it's just carved out of a mountain like when you go one down the highway everything is just picturesque is it's like you're looking at a postcard all the time it's greenery everywhere all of the buildings and houses and everything like that seem to be up on like winding roads up in the mountains and things like that and then you start to come upon and look at a huge beautiful city that's divided by water that has like five or six bridges or something like that going over it is just absolutely gorgeous secondly the dude that was at the gas station when we first came to Pittsburgh completely wrong I'm not sure if this dude's ever visited there downtown or in their city or even if he's ever been anywhere else to be able to compare it to but every city has his own unique character and Pittsburgh certainly has its own character super-dope had the opportunity to eat at Sammy's which was a sandwich shop slash bar and I really loved it because it gave you that early 90s feel late 80s Early 90s feel as far as like the brass rails the mirrors on the wall from some of the pictures and then the people it was almost like even though it was in the midst of downtown a hundred percent located everybody seemed like you know they knew everybody that came in a bar kind of like a Cheers and then lastly you know on our way back to the hotel we walking down the street and we see a night market up the street so we walk over there and then once we get to the night market which was really lively and it had a lot of people there we look further down and we just seemed like some purple and blue and green lights and some waterings I'm like what is that so we walk over there so beautiful absolutely stunning and beautiful the architecture it was just like a bunch of castle looking glass buildings all surrounding a fountain and then you had the walking horse carriage and everything like that and it was like they couldn't have gave a better impression of the layout in the city the city is is laid out so beautifully with the ball park right off the water and in the bridges and then all of the tall buildings and then how everything is kind of built to where you know it's made to be a little bit more walkable and everything being interconnected is dope of course you do see some seedy characters like you do in every city across across America and most of those characters you know it's almost like they come together to form Voltron at night it was a really fun day and this place is beautiful but it's pretty I think that's the best word to describe it it's just a pretty city [Music] we over here in a strip district so as emphasized in a conversation we was having in the shop yesterday we decided to come over and visit and see what's poppin so we're gonna browse and get lost a little bit and see what happens yes you have my permission off-the-beaten-path shops a lot of restaurants a lot of wholesale and a lot of like right now I'm in an Asian specialty store kind of reminds me of Eastern Market a little bit except without the sheds it's just like one long strip of a lot of different places that you you know that you can go and see and buy things that you wouldn't get at Costco and whole food Sam's for the Walmart read us on that Street food type of diet right now I'm personally preserving my calories so that I can wait and eat at some specific places that I kind of got my eye on some music festival but obviously they got all the food trucks as you see behind me it's a whole lot of them it's a hippie fest so much stuff going on in this city it's almost impossible to be bored because there's so much to do we just getting lost just going out and seeing what's poppin and then as a result just running into the hippie fest and plenty of things to do outside of downtown even though we go to the downtown's and most of the cities that we go to you got to get off the beaten path also I get a badger let me get a veggie is it a Alicia are you dancing tonight why isn't Pittsburgh like more on an app like that because this place is awesome it's literally like one of the best cities I've ever visited you really are seriously that's the perfect description and like we drive in I guess down Highway or wherever and it looked like the whole city is is carved out of a mountain I mean but it's beautiful this city is probably and we've been a lot of places I've seen and done almost everything huh first so you guys just filled up [Music] that place reminds me of like in the movies where father at a Gambino or the head at a my family would be having dinner in the kitchen or in the back of the kitchen where he will meet with his bosses from Detroit and New York and all that that's kind of what they remind me of certainly different we looking for stuff that's not commercialized [Music] [Music] pretty decent like it everybody kept talking about it like one person that I know that visited Pittsburgh was like ants hi you got to go to this place called purgatory and then we walk into hey Rita what was the name of that place that she went to for their candy then we went into Grandpa Joe's it was like a couple in there talking about it so and then I heard yesterday somebody mentioned burgers or something okay well let me go ahead check it out since my hotel was literally a walk so my hotel was like right there we are again we often make the beaten path you see what's going on so I guess the night just now really getting started I'm done blogging for today all right how's everybody feeling happy Saturday evening and wonderful Pittsburgh no rain beautiful sky beautiful people beautiful record storm the song is all for new record it's called funeral getting old fathers the youngest not spoil
