[Music] hi everyone its Julia today's project it has been inspired by this fabric I just love it I just picked it up it's a motor fabric I love fabric with words and this has be creative be inspired be kind all sorts of fun little phrases and then this adorable little matching print I'm gonna be using my art Iza 30 fabric markers to add some color to this design that I'm gonna be working on they've been so kind as to send these to me and I do have a coupon down below for you if any of you are interested I'm going to be making a pillow top and I have a square nine inches of a canvas drop cloth that I'm using as my Center and just adding some borders to it one of my borders is part of that same canvas and the other borders are all it are all bad the B words these are cut a two and a half inch wide and I will be taking them to the sewing machine and I've stitched them using a half inch seam allowance and now just squaring at the squaring up the sides and getting ready rid of any extra I'm flipping it over and I'm going to be ironing all those seams towards the border I cut a piece of batting slightly larger than the pillow top and will be top stitching now on each of these borders just along the edge just to attach it to the batting and just to give it that little detail now onto the design I'm using heat and bond light that I have ironed on the back of three different three different fabrics and I'm using my hexagon bigs die I can run all three layers through at the same time I'm working on several projects using this same B design and so I've cut out several of these hexagons at the end of this video I'll have some pictures so you can see some of the other designs that I that I made but just laying these hexagons on and I'm going to be taking those that paper back off of the back of the back of each of these hexagons and then we'll be just ironing these into place I haven't laid the way I like them and we'll just be ironing these down next it's on to the B design this is a stencil that I've had for a while but I will look one up on Amazon if any of you are looking for a B design this is an easy way to add a design to a piece of fabric that you can take to the sewing machine and do the free miss free motion stitching on this is a two-part stencil this is an old plaid stencil that I've had in my stash for a long time it's just something about bees that I really I really like I'm using the Frick's on pens here which are pens that can be just disappear with heat so once I get done stitching I can remove those always test these and whatever fabric you are using especially dark fabrics some dark fabrics it will leave marks works really really well for these lighter canvas and also for any muslin type fabrics and I'm just writing the words that I want to add with free motion and I decided on the be humble I'm at my sewing machine now and I have my food my feed dogs dropped and I have my free motion foot on I'm using black bobbin thread and then a black top stitching thread as well which is just a regular polyester thread and I'm just tracing my designs I'm not too worried if I get off a little bit because I can all these blue marks so these this blue pen mark will disappear and when I iron iron the top of it when I'm done but I'm going back and forth I like to go over everything twice to give it a sketched on look I know I'm gonna be using these fabric markers a lot and I'm so grateful for our teas that you send them to me I love adding color to finished projects like this I love free motion design and then adding a little bit of color with some kind of fabric marker now these markers are permanent there are non-toxic and they do have this is a 30-30 marker set so there's 30 different colors I'm done with my B and so I'm gonna go down to the words up nope I'm I decided my just around this little body out a little bit I had it had a kind of a wonky look to it now I'm down to the words and again just tracing this is easier than it looks especially if it's your handwriting because your your mind really knows where it needs to go and I'm just going backwards to go over my stitching my lines twice I did cut my thread to go to the next word and again I'm not too concerned if I get off especially when I go back over at the second time you'll see that I am getting off a little bit but I'm just I fill that in with some of the fabric marker and it just it just added a really neat look these have two different ends on them one's an ultrafine and one's a fine I picked out several colors that I wanted to use and most of them went you know with some of the fabrics getting rid of all those blue marks and now I'm ready to start I decided I'm going to use just several different colors but also I'm gonna just do some doodling just add some dots and some stripes and and just kind of make this a crazy bee what I love about these is they do not spread into the fibers they stay on top they're quite opaque and just a really easy way just to add a little bit of detail to your FreeMotion projects right on to the words just adding again the filling in a little of where I've read just went off a little bit just to give it a little bit of color on the words as well I'm just adding some texture just going back and making some more dots I also want to just to share just some more of the colors and how you can use these the bigger tip works well just to use on the side especially if you want to cover more area and they do blend there are two different colors or shades of each color there's a light blue and a darker blue and a light purple and a darker purple and so on so you can you can do some shading and they do blend keep in mind that working on fabric and coloring on fabric is totally different than paper one of the things that I the lids don't snap on real you have to be careful when you're putting the lids on to make sure that they're on right I noticed that this orange was a little bit dry and so that would be one thing that I would you know question on them they say they may go through to the other side it did not on this heavier canvas but here's another just little free motion flower that I did and you can see how easy it is just to add some some quick color to it here I'm using the lighter and the darker of each of the colors and also down on the leaves just adding a couple different greens I really felt like this needed something else on this other side so I have a honeycomb stencil and I'm gonna do the same thing I'm just tracing it now with my friction pan which will welcome iron away but I'm going to be quilting this we're using free motion stitching I'm gonna just use a cream-colored or the same colored as the canvas background just to add a little bit of that that shape on that left side it's running down that right border and now I'm gonna have it on the left side of my project let me just taking this to the sewing machine and doing the same type of free motion with with my feed dogs dropped I don't show this part but you'll see what it looks like at the end here and here it is and I'm just getting rid of those those blue marks this I absolutely love how this little bit just added and it's on to trimming the batting away I do I did cut a piece of the B print the same size as the top of my pillow doing some pinning and I will be just putting this using a half inch seam allowance and an opening at the bottom I am going to link up above how I finished off my accent pillow so you can watch that video if any of you are interested and and how I stuff them and what I use and here are some pictures of the finished pillow and also I you I did a tote and a couple little zippered pouches using the same art fabric markers I hope you enjoyed this thank you so much for watching bye for now
