External hard drive / USB does not show up in File Explorer Windows 10 / Windows 11

[Music] so before wasting our time i will show you uh what's going on so i have a flash drive a usb flash drive which is 4 gigabyte and the external hard drive also work with the same way so i can connect this flash drive onto my computer here and will show you what's happening so i connected this flash drive and with this light i can make sure it turns on so let's move on to the computer screen and we'll see what we get here so after connecting the usb flash drive or external hard drive to your computer go to the file explorer and this pc and it doesn't show up here you can see here i have only my c drive and there is none any other partition showing up here no usb so even if a refresh is not showing up there are couple method you can verify either is connected properly or not so let's go to this tiny error and from this open device and printers and we can see this one the math storage this one is connected with the computer but it's not showing up here now when i was searching the solution some mentioned you can run the troubleshooter by by clicking on the start window [Music] troubleshooter here but i was not able to fix the issue by running this one so i will show you how i was able to fix the solution so you can right click on this pc go to manage then go to the disk management and here you get all the disks connected to your laptop or computer here you can see my disk one 3.74 which is the four gigabyte is connected external usb the name as external usb is connected and to verify i will unplug the usb and see if it's gone yeah i unplugged the usb and it's gone let it replug again so i re-plugged again and came back again so that means it's showing up here in the disk management but it's not showing in the here on my file explorer so i can browse in and copy my pictures here so uh the solution was most of the time as you can see it's showing online this showed as offline so disk is offline so you just have to turn it back by right clicking turn it back to online and it will start working again but the mine was already online but it was still not working so there is another solution you can apply so let's make it side by side window so we will see once is up so what i did and this external usb so i change the drive letter so right now it's c local dxc so sometime it happens with the third-party application or some windows application or there could be like a million reason the drive letter has a conflict so it's not showing up here so we can just try to change a draft letter by right click change the drive letter as you can see no drive letter is signed here so we can add so let's see d e f g so you have to be you can't use the whatever is showing here so something is the difference so there is no d or e so let's give it e okay and as soon as you apply the drive letter you can see it showed up here so we can browse we can put our stuff in everything should be working so let me unplug you can see it's gone let me plug back in and it will show up again automatically so that means working the only issue was there was no drive letter assigned or that there is a conflict of drab letter for example the drive letter is a c and you already have a c that's why it's not showing up here so you just need to assign a drive letter you don't need to worry if you have a data inside your external hard drive or usb because by doing this you are not going to format or delete your data it is just a matter of showing on to the computer so i hope you like the video if this method and solution is working for you please press the subscribe button and if it's not working for you please please explain your problem in the comment section and we would try to resolve your issue i will catch you up in the next video until then bye bye
