Exterior Renovation- Start to Finish Landscaping Transformation

with the interior of the chapter house almost fully furnished we turn our attention to the exterior we have a concrete mixer to unload two trailers full of landscaping materials so that we can take this once dilapidated home from overgrown to Mountain retreat in one day that's if we can keep it together okay guys so we are back at the chapter house we are officially on the last chapter pretty good I thought you were gonna look at me like I thought that's funny I actually got a laugh out of it yeah that's pretty good I enjoyed it I won't quit my day job then I know baby bells so we are here very prepared today we have two trailers full of all of the things to completely button up the exterior of the chapter house and it's done and then it's going to be done so it is going to be no play time today all heavy lifting yes we're gonna play today I'm so sorry I'm sprinkler and we are going to knock this out yeah we have about 4 000 pounds of concrete 3 000 pounds of uh mulch about 30 plants and have Aaron and her guns Mulch and start getting them spread out all the way around the house we went with black mulch because it's got a very rich color and we also went with bagged mulch because the last thing that we want to do on this brand new sod is back a trailer all over the nice beautiful grass and tear it up exactly yeah don't want to tear it up that would be disastrous and then we get to start the fun part the digging we're back on the play sorry I brought up so say that I did though in the back of the truck nice too it's a little bait a little old but you know okay all over it I'm going to be doing a lot of editing on this video you guys won't know what he said because I'm gonna have to cut that down I'm gonna go get water and you go ahead and start digging I'll be right back [Music] I am still battling the dishes but I think that today I'm finally going to have the last few washed and everything put away we're gonna have 30 holes to dig all the way around here so that's definitely going to take a bit of time and then we're going to go ahead and stretch out the landscaping fabric all the way down pop the plants in put the mulch in and we're done [Music] [Music] keep them guessing [Music] say yes say yes so what we decided to go with are these winter gem boxwoods they are not the boxwoods that attract a whole lot of deer and are like deer candy and they are also not the boxwoods that some people say smell like cat pee so that's an important distinction to make these winter gem ones are actually deer and pest resistant and they don't smell so first things first let's get that out of the way but we decided to go with these because they are going to grow up and just create a nice hedge that goes practically all the way around the house and it's just a simple solution for us we're going to go ahead we're going to put them in now we're going to mulch around everything and we're going to let them grow and then we can come back in next year and start like creating other little plants that are in there but for now we just need to be simple and get some Landscaping in and be done so that we can move on and get Gus in here okay you ready for the PPA PTA the POA okay are you ready for the POA that's what that means the plan of attack okay a bag of mulch on this end okay unroll bag of mulch at that end okay you cut I plan okay I backfill okay we mulch you dig big what the pad for the concrete [Music] foreign [Music] it gives it what it was needed so we went through a lot of ugly duckling stages with this house as you guys know first we bought the house looking back at the old Bros now I'm like oh my God yeah it's awful then we got the house paying to start getting put together we painted the house bright blue no grass deck wasn't stained we stayed in the deck it matched the dirt it was awful yeah then once you put the grass in there oh wow it looks great putting putting the grass in and getting the green thrown in there yeah it it made everything start to make sense like all the color choices we felt like we were headed in the right direction we wanted it to be quirky and different but against the dirt on the ground it looked just terrible and then we got the grass in it was like okay now it's all making sense and now we're getting this end to finish it off but right there yeah can they see so you see other deck so we got to come back through here and uh put a little lattice up there underneath the deck where it goes attaches direct to the post that are vertical so it's pushed back a little bit we stay in that what color is the deck yep we March up to it finished up done because the thing is these boxwoods they are going to grow up and they're going to be a hedge and that is going to be the long-term solution but it's going to take time because these are just babies right now they're not as tall obviously and filled in as we need to be so in the meantime I think we need to put the lattice up because it's such an eyesore to seeing the weeds and the dirt under the deck it's like if we leave it like that it's it's like we went halfway and we didn't finish the job and we didn't do it properly so we'll close it off with lattice and it's good to go but it looks great though I'm happy with it it's exciting it's definitely excited we're behind schedule as you guys know we've always went on schedule we have so much going on this thing should have been done months back it should be getting rented right now well guess what it's not so we're finishing it up yeah it's about to be done we're just two people you know what I mean we can only do so much the Beauty and the Beast okay found the beauty I was waiting for that all right so um that side you're an ox babe thank you I work out I can tell so we just have this side right here which isn't going to have any boxwoods right now because we did buy enough tear up a little bit short you know what can we say but we are 40. we are going to mulch it so we're gonna go ahead and mulch that and then we just have around the back yes deck and we have around the fireplace which we're trying to figure out what we want to do with the stone that's back there but you are going to notice that we're not putting a plant right there there um or on the other side and that's just because the hot tub obviously is going right here and we're going to have a fence around the hot tub that pulls straight up to the deck and then the deck stairs right there are going to have a gate up top just to make safety a thing yeah I think the four foot defense was by law so yes the kids that's why and a lot of the airbnbs around here don't actually have that but the last thing we want is for somebody to come here and then there to be an accident and there is a locking top that goes on the hot tub but let's just take all the precautions and do it right and do it the right way so we're just gonna wait and we probably are gonna come back in and put something there but we want to get the fence installed first before we do any planting and know what we want to do yeah [Music] wow that's good girl it does look good we have finally come to the point where we have to make a decision decision I think yes you wanna put them there I mean I don't know I can't we can you got to do something with that awkward spot right there yeah you have to do that it's fine I know you gotta go somewhere I don't know if you can see it on camera but there's this awkward spot next to those stairs right there that we need to do something with and fill in so I guess we're going to be moving some rocks almost done this is the last final like that's it right there my issue is gonna do those damn rocks this one's gotta be at least 150 pounds [Music] so on the back side of the other thing we are planning on taking them from here and kind of stacking them in this corner and working them around the front so I'm not a rock person you know what I mean I see what you did there maybe if we get it up to here and then it comes down a little bit and then it goes down that way that's what we're going for okay good job the violated are we ready to rock and roll how about Junior Huber hope you're dead that's one of the reasons why I married you if you're humor I thought it was my concrete skills first four months with your looks okay Josh thank you next thing on the list is the pavers for all the walkways oh it's good time also I should mention that the pavers are sitting directly on top of the grass we can do that they will sink down eventually over the next few weeks hopefully they'll come down and settle into place if over time they're uneven become a tripping Hazard we'll obviously have to come back fix them level Mouse so they flow nice and neat with the rest of them we've grossly underestimated how many pavers we need we need about six more here six on the other side plus six more plus six more whatever that is that's how many more short thing that is we were maxed out to the bremel on the trail regardless we're not enough to make a fit anyways you have NEPA is enough concrete I don't have enough strength to do the Congress though either I'm exhausted how's that saying go ain't no rest for the root weary do more suck less there you go that's old squaring right there girl [Music] foreign [Music] s to realize that us trying to tackle digging this pad out and mixing and pouring concrete after everything that we've done today and at this time in the evening was just not a good idea it would be a mistake so instead we're just going to dig out for the fire pit and we're gonna build a fire pit real quick tomorrow Andrew's apartment stop why why do we do this Josh stop there's something like seriously wrong with you do you know this I can't take you anywhere that's it this entire fire pit kit to be bought from Lowe's not sponsored but definitely impressed because that doesn't have mixed Max mix and match and piece everything together let's talk to the guy loves he's like we got kits for that I'm like really so that's what I got So the plan is to dig out the grass around here and I uh radio dimension what am I talking about we said dig this portion out get it leveled up the directions called for putting down a base layer of sand we don't follow directions around here so true you go okay till we're exhausted all this dirt here is very very Sandy dirt so I'm gonna call good enough so [Music] laughs well dig it all out get it all leveled up and we'll uh take this rim of the rig imprinted onto sandy soil pulled off and let it block the stone all around up and put the ring and stuff back inside and it's done this adhesive Landscaping caulk So It's Made of Stone and masonry and stuff that you put wet and dry locations so this is what we're using to stick all the stones together so we're gonna get the first base around we're gonna go ahead and start Caulking and putting the next down on top and working our way around as we go out [Music] that looks awesome you like it I do good me too [Music] that's it for us guys we're exhausted we gotta find a good fight another day because we're done
