Exploring South Indian Life In Chennai 🇮🇳

g'day people welcome back to India here standing in the Bay of Bengal on the East Coast gets my phone in the pocket on the shores of Chennai formerly known as Madras oh hopefully mildly waterproof here on Earth absolutely humongous Beach population about 50 percent humans 20 stray dogs 30 one seems hoarse join me as we go uh you know explore a little what goes on here see what they got to eat you know never know what's going to happen along the way it is India after all of course so almost there so I read he met people from uh other places not just Jenna out here Delhi Kolkata China seems to be a bit of a destination and I can understand with the beaches Goa so far I'll show you later on what goes down up there as you can see it's a massive slope here the Wild Water here just erodes each away how are you boys on vacation are you Chennai malarga is that a place or is that a word time of their lives I think they at least pulled the phone from their pockets which is smart let's go have a look up on the beach let's grab these over here and I just realized that I haven't drank any water today I've been running on chai only and you know it's hot I hope you can hear me with the wind there's a lot of wind which is uh deceptively uh cool but it's actually really hot right now I also would rather have my shoes on because I've been walking on the beach already and I've seen plenty of shards of glass everywhere already unfortunately see that's what uh one of the horses population he's got something stuck in between his hoof let's get some water that's what I'm saying but you see when I say it it's it's no Goa so far with all the camels camels with all the with all the Stalls out here it's not the cleanest Beach but damn is it the biggest beach this is by far the biggest deepest widest I don't know but you know from the road to the Sea it's the widest Beach I've ever been on near a city on a city but I think just generally too it's massive best drop oh yours is like taxi no no I'm gonna drink some water my friend and some other things but it's far away yeah it's a long walk it's a long walk with glasses what's that last round last last drop yeah it's the the beach oh God where are all the Coconuts in Chennai oh you're not allowed to have coconuts out here now ah I'm because I'm surprised oh I was looking maybe I thought oh through my son from my say syndicates there seems to be like uh maybe the you know maybe the coconut sellers want to keep it in a certain area for the corn sellers they don't want no coconut sellers because everybody wants a coconut so no coconut on the beach sorry I was expecting the beach the beaches just to go and get nicer further down south I don't know doesn't sound like it but then again uh what do the Chennai locals think which one what's the best beach around here near the city this actually I stumbled on fishing boat I wasn't expecting uh that here and um this city I think started out as a fishing Village founded a not sure by the Portuguese the Dutch also later came and with the British really became a larger City in a time when it was called Madras they got him the fish he's a merman oh yeah it almost sounds like he's been baptized it's like a baptism they should make Netflix series he looked he looked a little bit like crazy what's your name where are you from guys why are you all and now we're getting the apartment blocks here this was pretty cool though having them right here on the beach it looks like over there they're painting uh murals yeah one uh one matchly lady wasn't too happy with the exposure oh look at that so the murals here oh they're working on it too here they have one of those lifts you are painters you're painters mural artists very nice action to do uh we are working with the government with the local government yeah I've seen it like in Navi Mumbai also with the murals but these ones are massive yeah how long does it take all of them no no it's right and over there Namaste sir so there is a is I think a big church or Cathedral even and I found out something really cool about it it's pretty crazy actually let's go have a look at it there is Basilica Church Catholic Church very famous Church very old eh 1525. good I think it was built but Portuguese but the Dutch were also on this Coast so this is the part where the Portuguese side meet my Dutch side meat from the past of course India was already a long long time many empires come and gone for the Europeans even arrived here but what was built here this structure started out as every hundred years or so it got expanded I think it was a cathedral out of it I might be wrong there but here's the cool thing the fun fact I've been building up to and that's that and I think most of you know what the Bible is what the Christian religion is right who Jesus Christ is right that man Jesus and twelve apostles and out here in this church on the east side of India one of the Apostles is buried was buried here two thousand years almost ago [Music] Apostle Thomas St Thomas and that's why this church is called Church basilica I mentioned before to trade routes back in the day the Romans they were connected to India by sea around Yemen and then through Egypt the broader products were going to the rest of the Roman Empire well the route went both ways so the Apostle Thomas he was the first person them I think who came to the Indian subcontinent the word of Jesus Christ it's killed here somewhere there's a shrine for that too and then buried at this site one of the 12 apostles in the east of India it's it's just crazy 2 000 years ago people used to like that crazy right I find it crazy I find it very interesting foreign yeah yeah so on that historic we end this uh day of why the Chennai water and um tomorrow I'm flying out to Sri Lanka and I just want to say this is not the end of it for India I just briefly have to get out of the country otherwise modibai we'll get upset and after some time there I'll come back to India and we're going to travel some more and we are going finally also head up north see what's there with Indian maze join me on those travels to Sri
