part of our lung program here at Atrium is the Interventional pulmonology Branch what's unique in it as a program itself as well as in the Charlotte area is it's comprehensive and it includes the most Advanced Technologies not only in diagnosis but also in treatment and Therapeutics of patients who may have lung abnormalities such as lung nodules and you've heard about our lung nodule program or lung masses or lymph nodes in a chest or even obstruction of their wind pipes or Airways to be scientific because they have any cancers or malignancies growing and blocking these wind pipes and causing shortess of breath that program utilizes the most advanced technology that includes robotic broncoscopy which is also attached to very Advanced Mobile CT scanners so we can reach the smallest and the tiniest nodules which are way out on the lung at the same time it also includes staging for patients with myopathy using endoscopic ultrasonography this is very important for our colleagues in oncology as well as in thoracic surgery to decide which path the patient will be taken since we do employ a multidisiplinary approach for these patients and they are discussed and managed as a team not as just individuals in addition to this on a therapeutic side we also use Advanced Technologies for ablation whether it is using heat or high temperature modalities or cold or also in collaboration with other departments to be able to open Airways kill tumors and be able to rec canaly the wind pipes of our patients so they can breathe more comfortably we've done navigational bronchoscopy for many years where you basically have a GPS system attached to the lungs where you basically try to find that nodule or that lesion with some degree of confidence much better than one back many years ago but there are limitations to it and so the limitations have been things like stability things like Ultra Ultra Precision we've been Limited in that until recently so last couple of years we've had the most Advanced Technologies called robotic broncoscopy which really helps us get a lot more confident that we are doing the right procedure each and every time it's not just about the person behind the robot or behind the diagnostic tool our team with our knowledgeable program the incidental program has basically a fast trck to a team of experts and can help you get appointments and help you get to the right person immediately and then move you on to the right diagnostic Technologies and so we want patients to have the best chance for Rapid diagnostic intervention figure out where to go next and not have to Wade through the complexities of our health system that so often limit what people can go through that extra effort that extra attention that extra knowledge that you get as part of a team is also very important and really helps us manage very complex patients and so patients when they come see me I tell them you're not just seeing me you're seeing a whole team of people behind the scenes that are working to get you the best outcome you [Music] can
