Exodus 23:20-33 - God Sends His Angel to Israel

verse 20 and read down here to the last which is 33 22 33 Exodus 23 you starting at verse 22 22 33 all right so if you wanna stand out respect the Word of God we'll start reading at verse 20 of chapter 23 behold I send an angel before thee to keep thee in the way and to bring the into the place which I prepared beware of him and obey his voice provoke him not for he will not pardon your transgressions for my name is in him but if thou shalt indeed obey his voice and do all that I speak then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies and an adversary unto thine adversaries for mine angel shall go before thee and bring thee in unto the amorite and the hittite and the perizzite sand the Canaanites and highlights of the Jebusites and I will cut them off thou shalt not bow down to their gods nor serve them nor do after their works but thou shalt utterly overflow them overthrow them and quite break down their images and ye shall serve the Lord your God and he shall bless thy bread and thy water and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee there shall nothing cast their young nor the nor be barren in thy land the number of thy days I will fulfill I will send my fear before thee and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come and I will make all thine enemies turned their backs unto thee and I will send Hornets before thee who shall drive out the high light the Canaanite in the hittite from before thee and I will not drive them out from before thee in one year lest the land become desolate and the beasts of the field multiply against thee by little and little I will drive them out from before thee until thou be increased and in here the land and I will set thy bounds from the Red Sea even under the sea of the Philistines and from the desert unto the river for I will deliver the inhabitants of the land into your hand and thou shalt drive them out before thee this shall make thou shall make no covenant with them nor with their gods they shall not dwell in thy land lest they make these sin against me for if thou serve their gods it will surely be a snare unto thee amen all right let's pray so again Lord we thank you for this passage and help us to be able to play it even with where we live here today as we know you were preparing her people there to inherit that Canaan land and it took a while for them to get there but eventually they got there and eventually they were able to finally own all the land as they slowly would drive those parasites and Canaanites out of that place and we know even for us and the victorious Christian life we have to battle against some Giants so I'll give us a strength Lord and the stamina and Jesus name Amen amen all right so it's interesting because we see here the Lord introduces this concept of an angel now again if you only think in the Greek like most people do and just think one angel it means the messenger so God's going to send this messenger before you you know then that's the long and short of that but again we kind of take more of a Bible approach of running through all the verses on what the word angel means we say it's a heavenly appearance it's a heavenly appearance the face of heaven the appearance of of the Lord here in the sense that he said behold I send an angel before they need to keep thee in the way now some people want one say it was big it would be Jesus you know Josh was this angel of the Lord which is the captain of the Lord's host and so we like to think of that as a Christoffel II many people do think of these as christophany so somehow this is appearance of the Lord it's maybe an appearance of Christ the pre-incarnate christ as an angel and so I'm sure some argument can be made for that but it could also be simply what I'm going to say today it could be simply Michael the Archangel because certainly he is the angel that in the Bible God is credited with being the angel of Israel and it's not Gabriel but it's Michael now Gabriel has some significance in the announcing of the Lord's coming amen and this first appearance there with Mary but the only other angel ever mentioned in the Bible by name is the Archangel Michael and so we'll run some references look all of Daniel 10 let's go to Daniel 10 and verse 13 again it's up some significant that I point out to you the Book of Daniel because I was looking last night and I was thinking about this beautiful verse in Daniel chapter 8 verse 10 there's coming Satan's son the book of Revelation is very clear about that and there's a big thing you know everybody's all excited about this crazy UFO alien junk and it's of some interest I think that Daniel 8:10 I never anybody references so I'm going to reference it for you though there's a little horn coming and it waxed great even to the hosts of heaven and it casts down some of the host and of the stars to the ground and stamped upon them and I think this is a beautiful verses that says yes there is going to be full disclosure you know there's a question is how when is the government going to be honest with us and tell us the truth about these creatures from outer space they call them you know well there's coming a day that yes even Satan's son is going to cast some of them down to the ground and stamp upon them see full disclosures coming it's in the not-too-distant future amen right there it is right there the Bible's telling you so and of course even revelation 12 references this idea of boys scenes gonna be mad when he's cast as the earth and he's not allowed to leave see he can come and go tonight but he there's coming a day in the future that he's no no no it would be allowed to leave oh he's gonna be mad about it well as Daniel was given a vision of the future and some things that were gonna happen that's close Daniel 10 in verse 13 we see that yes but the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one in twenty days but lo Michael one of the chief Prince's came to help me and I remained there with the kings of Persia so Michael came to his aid and the word michiel means what it means who is like God and this is the very second angel named in this book of Daniel he's the special angelic ruler for Israel and so it makes sense that it would be Michael that would come and help Daniel look at verse 21 of this chapter but I will show thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth and there is none that holdeth with me in these things but Michael your prince say Amen so just like there are elevated persons in the land and in our government so in heaven there's elevated persons among the angels look at Daniel 12 and verse 1 12 verse 1 and at that time shall Michael stand up the Great Prince which standeth for the children of thy people and there shall be a time of trouble such as never was since there was a nation even to that time and at that time thy people shall be delivered every one that should be found written in the book so there's coming a day of Jacob's trouble and like I was shared with brother Dave before church today now people got all excited with this solar eclipse that we just had and the win is the next solar eclipse in America it is 2024 which is seven years away did I say seven I didn't say so did you say seven and again we know seven God's favorite number especially in the book of Revelation and so this is why some people get all excited and surmise that while well maybe since we've got this lunar eclipse coming on September the 23rd and of course then the Feast of Tabernacles is like the 28th or so since there's a seven year gap between now on the next one this is what people say well maybe that book of Revelation that seven-year tribulation will take place and maybe this will be the year of the rapture and of course there is that symbol of a woman with the Sun behind her and she's standing on the moon and she's got this seven or 12 stars around her head and of course some people are saying well maybe that's Virgo and sure enough right now the Sun is entering into that constellation and so you can't see it because it's in the daylight that's the principle constellation the Sun is in now and on that date September 23rd sure enough that's when again there'll be that the moon is going to be in the shadow of the earth and so the moon's going to go in clips saying of course when the Jews always count their days God seems to favor a lunar calendar not solar calendars but we being Gentiles we favor the solar calendar don't weaken and so then these men have gotten all excited because I'm still sandy I was still saying you know you can get these programs on the computer and they're real simple because Sarge are always like where they always are you know you know the North Star never goes down a visits Virgo or leo the lion and the North Star is a thicker and draconians were explosively an Ursula major minor so for so long so all these things are always right where they're supposed to be as they move around the earth and so it's easy to have a computer program and look at it and you're going to you go back to the time of Jesus and watch when the planets lined up and so forth so on you see conjunctions and things it's very interesting to look at you go to the future and you go now a good program sandy is called it's called Stellarium Stellarium you know s de l lar I um that's a good program you can go into and you can go into the future you go in the path and you can just look at the sky just watch it watch the Moon and Sun go by you go fast if you remember when I first bought that little cheap disc put in the computer showed my kids years ago and we play with that and I'm trying to figure those things out you know and I downloaded that this morning and put it in my iPad and it was kind of cool but see this is why they get excited they say wow check it out you know right now the Sun is in Virgo and Jupiter's r2 and as you keep looking at it it looks like she's birthing Jupiter Jupiter right now is in her belly if you looked at it right now so that it looks like she's giving birth to a son and in a dragon's air to devouring amen and so you can see how people would get excited you don't want to set dates and stuff but praise the Lord we know no man knows are there the operating let's look at Jude now let's go back over here to revelation a Jew and look at how he says this in verse 9 about Michael again about Michael and so 9 says yet Michael the Archangel when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses does not bring against him a railing accusation but said the Lord rebuke thee the Lord rebuke thee so some great instruction with we're dealing with the devil how you got to keep your cool and recognize the power lies in the Lord not in yourself Malachi chapter 3 let's go back to the oldest of the last book of the Old Testament Jonah Micah and him have a consumer Isaac and look at 1st chapter 3 here and first 1 behold I will send my messenger and he shall prepare the way before me and the Lord whom he seeks shall suddenly come to his feet his temple even the messenger of the Covenant whom he delight in behold he shall come saith the Lord of hosts now of course we know that's that was speaking of John the Baptist cement and yet what a beautiful verse that's almost saying literally the same thing of what's being said here in Exodus now the Lord is going to send his angel before the verse 23 you meant let's go to Isaiah 63 9 is 63 90 or Jesus would send his disciples ahead of him to buy to into the village in towns preparing the way and so in Isaiah 63 9 in all their affliction he was afflicted and the angel of his presence see this is where I we've said before our definition of angel means so much more than just a messenger and that comes from the cheap simple translating of just taking a Greek word and giving that one label to that word but a Bible of definition is a little bit larger and it means more of the and an angel being important for Evan Lee presence it's so slick the Bible speaks of the little children's angels is always beholding the face of my father jesus said see the little children they have a heavily appearance in heaven it's like what's there in heaven can have an appearance on the earth and yet what's on there it has an appearance in heaven in all the reflection use affected and the angel of his presence save them amen in his love and in his pity he redeemed them and he bared them and carried them all the days of old beautiful but yet simple truth that the Lord is experiencing what his children experience amen who art thou he's Jesus who thou persecute us Paul this is it hard for you to kick it sprint pricks and he's thinking wait a minute I didn't crucify you getting on like a sport but see as Paul was hailing those men and women putting him in prison carrying him off killing those folks it was Jesus he is persecuting they meant so the Lord told them so like seems like he said this they realized Jacob I'm gonna bless them that bless thee and curse them the curse thee so he said but if thou shalt indeed obey his voice was 22 and do all I speak then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies and an adversary unto thine adversaries for mine angel shall go before thee and bring thee in unto the amorite now it's not that these things aren't scary they are truly scary and the truth is an writes the other hammerites Giants you might attract her the same thing though there's these different groups of Giants but they were all race of people that were of great stature and they were a mighty people known throughout the ancient world and much of their armor and things are found to this day I was reading about the burrows cave there a new Tala now this fellow found this cave and the other interns just awesome when you look at all these little plates a little cut mostly copper plates he tells nothing but just a copper poured out and beaten down into a plate and then they some ice taken and written the ancient Hebrew all over just all kinds of I found one of this is it's almost no bigger than a postage stamp but it's a gold tab it's a gold plate and it really bothered him when he found it because he thought holy crap people kill you over cold and of course as he would share these things with modern archaeologists and stuff fault about that size about eight inches deep and then outside that cement boxes where that bark and the cloth was wrapped around these things and this guy found this cave and there's this giant amorite like woman with her armor on her here and then a giant armored amirite like man over here and they had their armor on of course you're all sculpting some bones of course the skins tight against the bones so because it's been there for hundreds of years and so he talked about this cave he'd found and but he kept it hidden and he wouldn't take anybody to it that because and Peecher enough people kidnapped him and tried to torture him get him to tell and so he wouldn't tell nobody and he died never nobody ever no one of this day nobody ever but yeah you can see all the stuff he kicked out of there he gave away to a lot of his friends and stuff and because of course these things got him these people got around like you said the truth there's a lot of this stuff it made its have looked at you know I I put some maps on my maps program and we've showed my map program many times urine when Rob was here last Rob s I showed it to have some sense of where we are in the world and so forth and yet I couldn't get it up last week my computer would not open that picture for some reason would no my map section now here I've got these maps I need these matters because what I wanted to show everyone was how that the Great Pyramid there in Egypt hoard sits right on that peninsula of water or the where the Nile River comes out of Africa and on that Delta at the base of that jelled is worth it it's where the Great Pyramid sits and how would you look at the world the Great Pyramid is sitting right there in the center of the world and yet at that parallel because we know okay if we got the equator all right as zero I guess become ten degrees north and then 20 degrees north and then thirty degrees north and we're coming up these latitudinal lines for when we get to that 30th parallel that's where the Great Pyramid sits it's on the 38th parallel so that's where the Nile comes out into the Mediterranean and yet we can go straight across signing I guess what where's Abraham from heard of the counties where's that at that's it right there the base of the Tigris and the Euphrates rivers at Sunna 38th parallel now let's jump over India what's the next River we got on the other side of India the Ganges River which of course all the Brahmins think of some kind of a sacred dirty River and are all bathing in it and I have this same water that the cows poop in I mean a man oh man talk about filthy and yet horses come out into the ocean at the 38th parallel we can keep going let's go on all the way around the world guess where New Orleans is guess one of the Mississippi dumps into vit Gulf Caribbean right there at the 30th parallel again now tell me that God didn't design the world amen so that the moon perfectly blocks out the Sun perfectly it's not that the moon is closer to the earth blotting out more of the Sun and it's not the moon is closer to the Sun not blotting out enough of the Sun but it's perfectly where it is because God put it where it is just like God put all these major rivers to come into the ocean on the 30th parallel because God is the one and yet you know before the flood the land was different in the water was different but God knew that in the state we're living in that's where it needed to be what a coincidence is it or is it God's design it's an intent it's an intelligent designer amen so true all right well let's stand and have word prayer father again we're thankful for your order we're thankful for it you told Israel how you we're trying to prep them that you're the god of history you know yesterday and
