Exclusive: Rebecca Loos Speaks About Her Claimed Affair With David Beckham | Good Morning Britain

Rebecca lose has publicly hit out at David Beckham uh accusing him of playing the victim and making her look like a liar well it's been 20 years now since his former PA claimed that she had an affair with the star in a cantel interview that shocked the nation David Beckham has always denied the allegations and spoke about the impact the Scandal had on him and his family in his recent Netflix documentary well Rebecca is here in her first exclusive TV interview since the release of the documentary to speak about the impact on her before we chat to her here's Fran Lori with a reminder of the story it's been almost 20 years since Rebecca LZ made her bombshell claim in a tabloid newspaper that she'd had an affair with David Beckham while working as his PA sparking a media storm around the footballing Legend and his family David who was playing for Real Madrid at the time has always denied allegations of an affair with Rebecca L calling them ludicrous and said he was happily married read in 2013 Rebecca made an appearance on itv's Daybreak and said she regretted selling her story I think I regret the impact on everybody I don't regret speaking out but I regret the way I went about it she also appeared on reality shows celebrity love Island and the exactor before going to live a quiet life away from the spotlight now the story has hit the headlines again after the release of the couple's Netflix documentary in which David spoke about the effect the media frenzy had on him at time there was some days that I would wake up and think how how am I going to go to work how am I going to walk onto that training pitch how am I going to look as if nothing's wrong and Victoria spoke for the first time about the pressure put on their marriage during this period 100% it was the hardest period for us because it felt like the world was against us and here's the thing we were against each other now a yoga instructor living with her family in Norway Rebecca LZ wants to tell her side of the story and she's here to do exactly that Rea loose is here in the studio with us now hello nice to see you again after all these years good morning good morning um well you must have thought you left all this behind you yes I had left it all behind me I'd much rather not be here to be honest but it's lovely to see you both I didn't mean it like that no no no we don't take it person you'd rather not have all of that episode back in the headlines I would rather not have had to talk about this again uh left this behind me um move very much on with my life and um when this documentary came out and everything happened that happened after the documentary came out I tried very hard to just let it go and get on with my life but just really bothered me at the little angle at how he had played how he' played The Narrative and how misleading it is and how it's making me look like the bad person and of course I am also guilty it takes two to tango it's not all his fault but it's it's both of us are you talking about the fact that he hasn't actually in the documentary admitted that he had an affair with you he's always absolutely he always denied it completely is that he's not denied it he's never denied it he has said that my claims are ludicrous ludicrous is not denying ludicrous can be truth ludicrous is a term used by lawyers to give to their clients when they don't want to admit to the truth they say use the word ludicrous it will deflect attention how much warning did you get he's never denied it okay how how much warning did you get that uh that they were going to be talking about this in the documentary no none at all none at all they didn't ring you up or send you a no but that's okay I mean it's their life their documentary um so yeah it would I guess they would argue that I didn't give them warning when I went public you didn't give them any warning so there we go so now we're even fair fair yeah I mean we uh as a program have asked David Beckham about the allegations and criticisms that you have made but but we haven't actually received a response but they were clear that he has always denied it an affair with you uh at the time the allegation surface he said during the past few months I've become accustomed to reading more and more ludicrous stories about my private life which is what you said but he then goes on to clarify the simple truth is that I am very happily married and have a wonderful wife and two very special kids and there is nothing any third party can do to change this what do you make of that position I think there are very many men who are happily married and also have affairs so I think for some men that's how it what makes their marriage happy how do you think Victoria comes over in the documentary um well at the beginning I thought she came across really natural and I thought she was quite honest and she said you know was we were it was there was a gap in our marriage we weren't connected at the time it's obviously different when half the marriage is in another country I've since learned that the documentary has been made by his production company and it has been produced by his best friend and they have their director of brand Beckham Holdings behind it so then now I do think a lot of it is kind of rehearsed probably but I thought she came across well she does and and you know and they wanted to make a documentary that told their story of their life which of course they have absolutely the right to absolutely did you when you her spoke about the pressure it put on her you know as it indeed I'm sure you felt at the time you know was going to be hard for her and also the pressure put on him did that invite any sympathy from you in a way and make you think I wish I'd never spoken out um I wish I had done it in a different way I've always said this at the time my advice the advice I was given was this is the way to go about it 20 years ago and the new generation don't know this all the power was in the media I mean you both remember this if anything was to happen uh it was through the newspapers nowadays thank god the powers with the lawyers and everyone goes legal which is a much safer route kind of wish I'd taken that route of course but I can't go back in time what about the online reaction that's the big change isn't it over the last years change so what kind of online reaction have you had to the documentary and what's been said in that yeah um so I think had I not because I woke up to all these horrific messages on Instagram being called horrible names which I won't repeat on on the morning show but um just this really trolling just awful trolling and I've heard about the trolling before of course I've read about it in papers with other people and you not experienced it never experienced it because of course 20 years ago we didn't have social media no um and it's it's two sides to social media I love social media because I'm somebody who's been in the public um eye and I've had journalists and TV presenters and people talk about me um you know without me actually having a voice and what social media gives me is my own voice this is me me this is my life uh this is these are my passions so I like it but of course it's a double-edged sword you're here to have your say um it's it's live it's it's it's a one shot trick really what do you want to say to the beckhams what do you want to say to him um I don't think I really want to say anything to them but what I would like to say is um I think by him not acknowledging responsibility he is giving a message that it's okay to behave like this and I think that is a wrong message to give and my message is you make mistakes own up to them say sorry move on and that's what I'm teaching my kids I'm teaching my kids and I have a younger son who's very stubborn and it takes me live to sit with him for 20 minutes to make him say sorry and he doesn't still always say sorry I've got to work with that and just teaching kids you know be honest be truthful and apologize and then boom you can move on with life well that's the other new Factor isn't it and in in your reality now you've got how old are your children 11 and 14 yes two boys okay how are they taking all this cuz you can't you can't Shield it from it it's a good question I I did tell them about um the documentary and I told them about what had been said and how it made mommy feel and I told them about had you already told them about the epod 20 years ago yeah they know they know and um so I said and I feel that it's very unfair because of the way I'm being treated now and the bullying I'm getting and the trolling and I want to say something and I'm going to do an interview so there might be some media and how do you feel about that and so my youngest son said oh good he's a bit like me good for you mommy yes I would say something too and my Elder son he said well I don't really know anything about Beckham it's not like it's messy Mommy I mean had it be messy I was like okay as you're too young to understand kind English 20 years ago but yes can I can I say something I interviewed you with with my wife Judy about about 20 years ago now yes you were very nice to me Richard well I hopefully we were fair you know that which was the main thing um but you've you've changed quite a lot um and I'd say that you've become much more relaxed um you you understandably because you were the storm back then you were very very tense and quite defensive and you don't see I mean you just made the joke about Messi you um you actually although you're here because you you're fed up um and and and you just want to kind of make a couple of straight statements you actually seem to be quite together yes is that I mean would agree with you most of the time but no but that's an instant assessment am I right yeah you are I think um you know life's a journey we learn we grow we make mistakes we learn our best lessons in life from our mistakes that's who it's what forms us it's what makes us and I really do feel I'm someone who's grown and changed and I'm 46 years old now of course thank you know thankfully I'm a different person to when I was when I was 26 and you ended up meeting your husband didn't you because of the fame that came out of you you know delivering your story in the way you did in the in the news the world so you know buunny sort of way it is also charted happiness for you hasn't it very much so so there have been very dark times and there've been lonely times and they have led to the happiest times of my life and I try to tell people this when they're in a dark place it's like this is going to you've got to go through this it's going to take you somewhere and I live in a tiny town with 2,500 people in the mountains in Norway and I have and I used to teach senior yoga to these sort of 70 80 year olds and they would come up to me in Norwegian they but are you really happy here you do you really like it here and I God if only you knew I am a loving life if only you knew what life was like before so yes um everything happens for a reason well really good to talk to you I'm glad that you felt that you can have your side as it were and speak up and it's good to see that you're happy and life has moved on for you thank you so much lovely to see you both thank you for
